He’s her knight in shining armor. Only she’s no damsel in distress.

Wyatt
I’m a self-made billionaire with a soft spot for damsels in distress, so when I move to the quirky lakeside community of Summerdale, I immediately zero in on the woman I most want to…ahem, rescue. Only the stubborn woman refuses to cooperate.

Sydney
When Satan, aka Wyatt Winters, moves to town, I do my best to be welcoming. After all, I’m the owner of the historic restaurant and bar that he keeps showing up at, despite criticizing nearly everything about it. Deep breath. I might’ve lost my cool and made a rude gesture in his direction. And told him off. How was I to know he was considering investing in my place?

Did I mention I’m in debt up to my eyeballs and every bank has turned me down?

Still, there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell I’d ever work with him. Or admit he fires me up in every way.

And then a snowstorm traps us together and—

I’m melting.

This romantic comedy stands alone with a swoonworthy happy-ever-after! No cliffhangers.

Well, again, here's an author who starts off with an obnoxious, controlling, full of himself, rich idiot who has this superiority complex, control issue and, more or less is totally unlikable. In fact, I hated him. He walks into Sydney's tavern and loudly and obnoxiously calls out to her, calling her Cindy, even though he knows her name is Sydney, just to degrade and humiliate her. Then he goes on to loudly proclaim how all of the beer and ale she sells is watered-down garbage, how the food is mediocre and the establishment is in poor conditions. And, this goes on for months. And his friends say he is a nice guy. Really?
How she would ever be attracted to this buffoon, sexually or in any other way, is beyond me. But they hook up. She is in desperate need of money to allay foreclosure, which he is willing to give her as long as he then becomes an equal partner. She informs him, not once, not twice, but numerous times that she will not allow anyone but herself to own any part of the tavern, which has been in her familiarly for eons. So, he goes behind her back to her brother, Drew, who he thinks is the owner, and tries to buy it, but he finds that Sydney, and Sydney alone, owns the tavern. So Sydney, in desperation, goes to her friend Harper, who lends her the money and now she can go forward in bringing the tavern around to being lucrative again. But, Wyatt, our piece of dung hero, finds out and behind Sydney's beck, pays off Harper, so he now has what he wanted, control. And his friends say he is a nice guy. Pardon me while I upchuck.
Now, while all of this is going on, Sydney and Wyatt have gotten it on and are engaged to be married. Of course she doesn't know all that he has done behind her back and when she finds out, breaks the engagement. Well it goes on, back and forth and they finally get back together and he says he will never do the control thing again. Sounds good, huh, if he holds to it.
Now we are at the wedding and we are all so happy and they are snuggled together dancing, when he notices his sister Kayla, dancing and snuggling up to Sydney's brother, Adam. So, here he is, at his wedding with his wife in his arms, and his eyes are following his sister and Adam as his control gene kicks in.
Well, it is a fact, that even if a leopard mates, he doesn't lose his stripes. My sincere apologies, I meant spots, not stripes.
As for me, I think I'll pass on this series as I like the happily ever after kind, and this one has the chance for that like a snowball has a chance in hell.

This was a really fun book. I liked the characters and totally could feel the sexual tension between them. The way it all came together was pretty perfect. I loved Satan, ahem, Wyatt’s little dog. Wyatt definitely knew how to get under Sydney’s skin, but I totally understood her irritation with him. Her reasons for not wanting him to help out were very understandable. Even if sometimes I felt she might be acting a little stubborn, he didn’t help with the way he tried to offer “help”. He could definitely have done that a lot better.

Their banter and friends, the things that I always love in a good story were there just like I like. I even like how I knew he was going to do something to mess things up, and while it did, for a bit, I really like the way she handled it. I felt it was realistic and not overly dramatic just for the sake of drama.

As I said to start this review, a fun story, with a lot of characters that I can’t wait to see which ones get their own stories in future books in this series!

A cute, sexy story. With its overall comedic tone - which I liked - I still expected a bit more angst and action from the H/h. Didn't get it. Everything that happened ended on a positive note of course, as this was a romance read. It just felt like something was missing.

I was looking forward to reading this book as the blurb ticked all the right boxes for me. However, the book was too short, the plot too far-fetched and the MC’s just weren’t very likeable. I found Sydney to be unnecessarily stubborn and childish, and Wyatt was annoying and just too OTT. It felt hugely unrealistic that the two MC’s (who start off as enemies) fall in love and get engaged within a month of dating, and don’t get me wrong, I love a forced proximity trope…especially when it involves being stranded in a snowstorm, but when your sister is sleeping downstairs on the sofa and keeps walking in and overhearing you getting it on it kinda ruins the mood 😕

Un bel romance hate to love molto carino e scorrevole.

Sydney & Wyatt

A great, fun read. New to this author & beginning of a fun series. Confident, independent women, rich sparky yet considerate male...more in common than once perceived. This couple feeds off of each other's talents & shortcomings. So worth the read of this loving, sexy, story. (Reviewed by Lin).

Wyatt and Sydney gave me a reason to smile. Gilmore has the magic touch when it comes to swoon-worthy romance. Fetching reminds the heart how it feels to love. With sprinkles of humor and tons of soul, Gilmore takes us out of our heads and puts us back in touch with our hearts. Adorable with a capital A.

fun read

Sydney and Wyatt can’t stand each other. He loves to get under her skin and she thinks he’s critical of everything she does. After she finds out that he’s not so bad, she’s willing to take a chance on him, but his need to fix things may just end them before they’ve begun.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone.

The dog on the cover got me. If there’s a guy who loves dogs then I want to read it. This guy though, loving his dog was the only thing I liked about him. He was so arrogant and just generally stupid. For someone who’s a millionaire? Billionaire? Whatever, doesn’t matter, for someone smart enough to make that much money but can’t understand the word no, doesn’t make for a likable character. Sydney’s not much better, but she is better. I did like that she wanted to be independent and wanted to solve her own problems without handout. That’s admirable. But the way she gets so mad and then 3 pages later completely forgiving? Couldn’t be me. For a short romance I expected insta-love, but this was so quick I may have gotten whiplash.

There are cute moments. Mostly with the dogs. But the only reason I got through this is because I didn't have anything on my TBR list already loaded on my kindle. I don't like present tense and I especially don't like first person present tense.

There was also way too much description of clothes. I don't actually care most of the time what the characters are wearing. Bor-ring.

The final clincher was the ending. The author made a little game of where they were going on their honeymoon and then said you could find out if you signed up for her mailing list. Frankly, I'm not interested enough and I detest be given a bait and switch.

No more of this author.

This was a nice story but it had more sex than was necessary for the storyline. The characters were great. I especially liked that Sydney didn't take any crap from Wyatt. He was a bit of a know-it-all. It didn't matter that he actually did know a lot about business and could help Sydney. His delivery was terrible.

This story was not what I expected from seeing the cover. A man with a dog and the title made me think this was going to be a K-9 book. I was so wrong.

Strange plot elements

This book was not the greatest. The heroine decided to drive out just before a massive storm to take ice-cream cookies for a man she can hardly stand. There was a lot about their interactions that was just silly. I had to fight to finish this book just hoping it would make sense at the end. It didn't.

DNF @ 12% - the writing style is just not my cup of tea. and after reading the word "tamales" 19 times across four pages of text I just couldn't take it anymore. There has to be a better way to write about something.

description

Since then, Sydney Robinson’s family has passed on Horseman Inn for generations and has been Summerdale’s institution. The problem is that it’s also losing money even with its prestige. Sidney is determined to find a way for the Inn to come “out of the hole” and fast, but with one willing to loan her the money to help, Inn might see its days numbered. In comes Wyatt to the rescue, who has the funds and know-how to help but not if Sidney has her way.
I am the fourth generation of proud Robinsons running the place. It can’t die on my watch.
— Sidney, Fetching

Wyatt Winters is a retired billionaire who recently moved to the quirky lakeside community of Summerdale – about an hour and a half’s drive outside New York. He made his money grow by helping dying businesses. He has got his eyes set on his next venture in helping Horseman Inn reinvent itself out of debt.

The story written in dual POVs (Sidney and Wyatt’s) is an easy read. The plot is believable. Sidney and Wyatt’s chemistry comes naturally from their interactions. Their attraction is sizzling to the point of them not realizing that it’s passion, not frustration as Sidney first thought.

Both characters are stubborn, as expected. Sidney does not want Wyatt’s help while the latter couldn’t help himself, NOT to “fix it.”

Wyatt’s alpha dominant and “savior complex clashes with Sidney’s “independent” outlook. There was a lot of “stand-off-ish” and “backhanded” moments that made me shake my head in disbelief. Mind you – most of those moments were Wyatt’s fault.

#TeamSidneyRobinson

Sidney and Wyatt have to reach a “middle ground” regarding reviving the Inn. In this process, they start learning how to better partners to each other than just pushing into a business, just because it’s failing –> yes, I’m talking to you, Wyatt!

Sidney and Wyatt will be miserable at some point because of their “clashes” then had to “get over each other’s angst” to help one of the furbabies. They will learn that having a partner is taking care of the other and knowing when to be cared for.
I’ve been taking care of everyone else for so long it never occurred to me someone would take care of me. Wouldn’t that be a relief to get a break for once?
— Wyatt, Fetching

I love the supporting casts – Sidney’s brothers, friends like nosy grandmothers (one – General Joan), and the furbabies of Snowball were memorable supporting characters. Without the latter, I am sure that Sidney and Wyatt would NOT have their HEA.

(FYI: Snowball officially approved Sidney upon its first impression.)

In summary, I highly recommend Fetching to readers who love enemies-to-friends, small-town romances, second chances, strong female protagonists, and billionaire alpha male dominants who wants to save the world. It will make you laugh with Sidney and Wyatt’s wit and banter, cry during their fights and hug your babies (furry or human ones) more as true love finds its way in the end for Wyatt and Sidney. This book is an excellent start to promising series!

This was cute and quick.

I will admit that while I liked Sydney wanting to do things on her own, I got frustrated with her. It's all well and good for her to want to keep the bar in her family, but the fact that she refused to acknowledge any of Wyatt's ideas ever was ridiculous. Clearly the bar was having issues because what they'd been doing wasn't working. She made comments a couple times about how she wanted to be able to use her marketing degree to help out, and that's great. But that degree will only help her with the bar if she's still got a bar to market and if it gets foreclosed on because she was too freaking stubborn to listen to some suggestions (and yes, Wyatt should have gone about giving said suggestions a different way, but I'll talk about that in a minute), then it's going to do exactly squat. I did like how she seemed to care about her brothers and her friends. And when she wasn't busy being too stubborn to see reason, the tension and banter between she and Wyatt was top tier.

Wyatt was great. Yes, he did have a slight savior complex and didn't always express himself correctly, but his heart was in the right place. I will admit that he could have maybe offered some of his suggestions at the beginning in a slightly different way, but I also feel like he did things the way he did because he was just trying to rile Sydney. I didn't like at the end that he had to do almost all the apologizing/groveling when he explained things and Sydney just stubbornly decided it was because he was being high handed (Yes, on the one hand it was. But on the other, he explained himself a few different times/ways and the whole thing really just annoyed me. Granted, Sydney had given her reasons, but so did he. It's a fine line and I just wish it had been handled better). I did like how he clearly cares about his sisters and how he commented a few times that he really only helps those he cares about/loves. I loved how he cared for Snowball and let Kayla stay when she needed. It'll be interesting to see if he ever does track down her ex, as well as what's going to happen when he realizes there's something more between she and Adam.

I will admit that it felt like we had to be reminded too many times on who certain characters were. Almost every time General Joan was mentioned, we had to be reminded that she was Harper's grandmother. A few times when Garrett was mentioned and it wasn't a "Harper and Garrett" situation, we had to be reminded that he was Harper's husband. Once or twice when we had to be reminded about who Sydney's brothers actually were (ie: "Eli, my brother" type comments), although I will admit that those ones fit a little better with the story.

Well this book definitely made me want to live within the walls of a magical theme park 🥰. I couldn't wait to find out if Rowan and Zahra got their Magical Happily Ever After.

After Rowans grandfather dies, he leaves a him a letter asking him to complete a task that will reward him with his share of the multi-billion dollar company Brady Kane has built while he will alive. The catch, is that Rowan has to go back to Dreamland, the place that he he used to call home but now sees as a nightmare. He is determined to get this over with, when Rowan sets his sights on something he never loses. Fortunately for him on his first day he meets the beautiful and optimistic Zahra who falls into his lap (literally), he soon realises that she could be the one to help him towards his goal. What he doesn't expect is to find the cold exterior around his heart melting with every interaction they have 💙.

Zahra loves Dreamland, it has been her home her whole life, she lives and breathes for this theme park. When she finds out that Brady Kane has died she is heartbroken, she had formed a beautiful friendship with this man over time and he had always encouraged her to be brave and confident in her abilities. Unfortunately things don't always go to plan and after being betrayed by someone she thought she could trust her confidence is crushed...that is until her friend convinces her to send in her ideas for what Dreamland needs. She enver expected to be picked, not by her arrogant, moody new boss Rowan Kane.

Rowan and Zahra were so funny together, their banter was amazing and I loved that Zahra found Rowan's attitude hilarious and quite a turn on. Rowan didn't no what to do with himself around her, normally this type of woman would annoy the hell out of him but he was drawn to Zahra right from the beginning. Their relationship didn't come without its ups and downs but Zahra didn't take Rowan's crap and he loved that she could make him smile, something he'd not done for a long time.
This book is sweet, funny and even a little angsty at times thrown in with that feeling of magic 😍, it was the perfect combination @laurenasherauthor and I can not wait to see what happens with Declan and Cal 🤗🙈.

Sydney has put her heart and soul into running the bar/restaurant that has been in her family for years, but the place is bleeding money. Her brothers want to sell it because of the enormous debt her father secretly accrued to keep it open, but Sydney’s determined to turn things around. Enter Wyatt, a young tech billionaire with a penchant for breathing life into dying businesses. He just moved to town and wants to invest in the Horseman Inn. This opportunity is too good to be true since no bank will grant her a loan but it’s a nightmare because Sydney can’t stand the sight of Wyatt Winters. The two are constantly at each other’s throats but when they’re trapped together due to a snowstorm, they’re forced to get to know one another better and sparks fly.

The characters and plot were enjoyable but a bit too cliché for my taste. For instance, Sydney fixates on her raging hatred of Wyatt if his name is so much as mentioned but then she runs into him at the store buying tampons for his sister and that melts her heart. Even worse, Wyatt’s embarrassed that she “caught” him doing this completely normal thing. Also, there’s too much telling instead of showing. Describe how the tension feels, don’t just say ‘there’s tension in the air’. Tell us what happens in her mind and body because she feels a rush of longing for this man. I want to know her whole body flushes with longing for his touch when he’s near, not a short sentence that she ‘feels need’. Boring.

They also seemed to fall deeply in love in a few hours but it didn’t flow here. Insta-love can work if done right but not when the characters loathe one another and she refers to him in her head as Satan. That may have worked if there was more detail showing us how they affect one another and letting the characters reflect on their changing opinions, but it didn’t happen.

Some small editing changes might have turned a lot of the narrative into action, making this a great story, so I was a bit disappointed. There’s a blossoming story here with Wyatt’s sister and one of Sydney’s brothers to set up another book in the series and they’re both interesting characters so I’ll probably give their story a chance at some point but I wasn’t impressed with Sydney and Wyatt’s story.

If you are looking for an easy sexy winter read, then Fetching is the one you want to curl up with by a fire. The sparks between these two could light that fire for you honestly. It’s an age-old relationship troupe where he’s a sexy billionaire and she’s a stubborn as heck woman running a family business. I mean there is even a cute little dog named Snowball. Who doesn’t love puppies?

Sydney has moved back home to her small town to run her families Inn. Well, it’s more a bar and restaurant but It’s been in the family for years and not much has changed. She is floundering and doesn’t know how to pull herself out. She has a marketing degree not a business degree, but she gets points for trying. Wyatt finds himself needing to get away from NYC and when Harper suggests he checks out the town he is enamored by its charm. He even finds himself taken by the sassy Sydney. He offers to help her out, but she isn’t having it. He sets out to woo her to see his side and hopefully fall in love with him and she sets out to prove she doesn’t need help, but love makes you do strange things.

I really wanted to like Sydney but at some point, she just annoyed me. Her incessant complaining about her family business got to me. I get being stubborn and wanting to keep things in your family as it always has been, but times change things change and she was out of her wheelhouse. I know she meant well but I was kind of annoyed. Wyatt just wanted to help people but remain in control of how that money was spent. I guess the fluffy little dog added to his appeal. I don’t want to deter readers from this book. It is a cute sexy read like I said. Add in some fun best friends, a gaggle of charming protective brothers and one sister hiding from her life and you have the recipe for a good winter read.

A mailman who delivers tamales along with mail. Does it get any better than that?

Never let it be said that tamales can’t fix everything. Bad investment? Tamales. Squashed your pinky toe? Tamales. Broken heart? Tamales.

“A real library at home.”
“The bay window will be a reading nook.”
Wyatt gestures toward it. “Shelves all the way to the ceiling, and a ladder on wheels to reach the high stuff.”

“I brought an ice-cream scoop. I didn’t know if you’d have one.”
“What am I, a caveman? We’re fully stocked here with all the essentials. Ice cream scoop, pizza slicer, marshmallow roasting sticks.”
“Except furniture.”

But who can understand the male mind? They think they’re being logical, but let’s get real, their logic can get twisted with emotions just like women’s. Of course, women more frequently draw the correct conclusion with the help of emotion. Guys get all turned around. They should make an emotion GPS to help get men back on track.

Still, there’s not a snowball chance in hell I’d ever work with him. Or admit he fires me up in every way.
And then a snowstorm traps us together and-I’m melting.

That was another okay book for me. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. I guess I just missed the mark with this book, unfortunately. 3 stars.

Sydney and Wyatt’s love story in Fetching: A Frenemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy by Kylie Gilmore, book one in her new Unleashed Romance series, is a steamy, romantic comedy, of two people with rub each other the wrong way. As the series is called Unleashed, that means dogs will be part of the family. Wyatt was a self-made millionaire with a soft spot for helping women in need. After moving to the small, lakeside community of Summerdale, Wyatt zones in on the one woman he wants to rescue; but the stubborn woman refuses to let him help her. Sydney tried to be welcoming when Wyatt, aka Satan, moved to town and started frequenting her historic restaurant and bar, but he keeps showing up after criticizing everything about the place; the food, the beer, etc. She might have lost her cool with him and told him off, not knowing he was considering investing in her restaurant. When Sydney inherited the place, she and her brothers discovered the place was in major debt. Every bank had turned her down for a loan and there was no way Sydney could imagine working with him. When a snowstorm strands her at his house, she soon learns how potent Wyatt could be. It showed these two that there really is a fine line between hate and love. The magnetism attracting Sydney and Wyatt was powerful. The energy and electricity crackled between them. The heat they shared burned up his seats. When Wyatt’s small dog goes missing, all bets are off whether or not Sydney will cave to Wyatt’s demands.

Ms. Gilmore wrote a wonderful and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing secondary characters giving Sydney and Wyatt chance at love, happiness and the possibility of a forever together. I highly recommend Fetching to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
