With an easy-flowing style and a quirky sense of humour, John Demartini delves into some of the darkest corners of our lives and helps shine illumination into our psyches. He uses a very simple method of connection. He admits there are many examples he uses which are just as likely to turn you off listening to him as there are ones that you resonate with. Then he tells you what this shows about you AND what you can do about it.

With many years of experience in front of large crowds across the world, Dr John plays the percentages and reverses them to scoop up the whole story. In The Heart of Love he both demonstrates and explains this process of connection.
If you feel this is a useful way for you to live more intimately with people, try it out for your partners in various areas of life as well as for yourself. There are plenty of exercises throughout that make it easy to pick one part to start from.

In my experience people who aren’t really getting it for themselves through reading these books are likely to relying on you to continue providing the initiative in these aspects of your relationships. You might want to consider what that really means as you read this for yourself as well.

While this book seems to be about one area of life, it really integrates across all areas in a comprehensive way. The final few pages are even dedicated to a series of excuses and responses that are often raised as objections to the Demartini Method presented in this book. Having attended the Breakthrough Experience, the workshop where this method is lead by John Demartini and assisted by graduates of the facilitators’ course, I have to admit I did not get as much out of it as I felt was offered to me. But I do know that I got something that I have continued to work with in various ways.

As far as relationships go, my biggest relief has been in being able to not feel bothered about being or not being in a relationship for the past few years. This has aligned with living on my own for the first time in my life, and has been an extraordinary experience for me. How much this method has to do with my own shift, and how much it has to do with a range of other factors is hard to say. But I can’t deny that this method has been part of what I have experienced to get to where I am now.

It is your choice whether you take the almost obsessive approach that Dr john takes in delving into your issues, but even a lighter approach is likely to stir up some results. It is your responsibility to be aware of what those results are and what you are going to do with them. Few other writers are so open and thorough about what you are likely to experience through the different stages of engagement with their methods. That is the bonus available here.

I'm re-reading this book again. Last time it was 4 years ago that I went through. I was single, dating on and off line, dealing with disappointments, or figuring out who would be the right person for me. The book helped me loads to clarify many of the relationship expectations and also to be happy with myself and on my own.
This time round, I'm in a lovely, warm, beautiful relationship. Most things in our life with my partner are running smoothly, except that we both wanted to be more creative, but just didn't find the time and energy for it. Reading the book again, I'm realizing we've created too much comfort, and our relationship needs a little bit more challenge.
The book is beautifully written, with funny personal stories and a great guide for anyone who wants o move their relationship to a new level - or if single and wanting the opposite sex company.

This book was recommended to me, and I have to say it does have a lot of thought-provoking material. There are parts that I feel could have been better phrased as to not alienate certain people, but overall, I do think the point of the book was on point. I definitely have learned a bit about myself by doing a couple of the exercises, and I imagine I'll be coming back to reread this soon to do more of the exercises, see what else I can discover. If you're having trouble relating to people (especially in your romantic relationships) then I recommend this book.

John’s book is a fresh approach to romantic relationships and true love. I wouldn’t say I agree with all of his ideas but I found many of them to be fascinating, specifically his definition of true love.

Good read explaining as to what makes a meaningful and true relationship. This information can be applied to not just romantic relationships, but beyond to any type - like for example such as between a business and its customer which I found useful...

Only downside I felt was that the authors “Dr Demartini Method” was touted as a solution to anything or any type of problem one might be experiencing in creating meaningful relationships or overcoming other mental blocks. I could see where it made sense in some scenarios but others I did not really get it or see how it would help - but perhaps that is just me...?

To Our Continued Success!

A fabulous and thoroughly life changing book grounded on John De Martini's 'breakthrough experience' principles that explains how human psychology causes he, to exhibit certain characteristics, idiosyncrasies and behaviours in their relationships and interactions with people in everyday life, the fantasies and myths we have picked up since childhood that stop us from finding true love and happiness and full-proof strategies that help you evaluate every professional and personal relationship in your life from an overall unbiased point of view and how you can form effective and positive relationships with people through all walks of life. The book can either be used by couples to enhance their relationship, bosses and subordinates to create positive work environments and people who want to develop their social skills and form more meaningful friendships in their lives. I used it as a source of reflection to look back at past friendships, relationships and dating experiences that have not been successful and why I could've done differently, it also took me a step closer in forgiving and kinda let go of people who have hurt me. Written eloquently in easy to read language, a must read !

I am often struck by the futility of self-help books that tell people to change their thinking without telling them how to do it...other than by repeating affirmations hundreds of times. I totally agree that what we think creates our reality, but I find that few people, including myself, take the time to do affirmations. Admit it. Don't you feel silly standing in front of the mirror saying, "I am an amazing person and completely lovable"? You don't? I do!

Now I understand why. It's not the conscious mind that needs changing. It's the subconscious mind that holds our self-limiting beliefs. Affirmations do not affect the subsconscious mind. The part of me that feels "silly" doing affirmations is the subconscious mind speaking. Usually, it's saying, "yeah, right! Like I'm ever going to believe this!"

Since I've learned PSYCH-K and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) I can tolerate reading self-help again if only to glean ideas for to use with those processes. These processes QUICKLY change your beliefs and eliminate fears, often within minutes.

The funny thing about this book is that I bought it after listing to Dr Demartini's public talk in Johannesburg. At first I did not not read it because its with for friend who needs it more than I do right now.

Anyway I first discovered his work and this book on "Conscious Media Network" website, which is sadly no longer available. This is one of the most practical books about love and romantic relationships. First you will learn how to break through some myths, and secondly you will learn practical steps on becoming clear on the partner you are looking for. I guarantee you will learn something about relating to men or women in romantic relationships in this book. It's rare to find an author who can write a book that is useful to both men and women at the same time.

Dr. Demartini's work is a phenomenon. This book puts a different spin on love and the importance of honoring the values of those you love without abandoning your own.

Orice experienta sau persoana din viata ta vine cu plusuri si cu minusuri.
Cand observi acest lucru clar, te echilibrezi.
In carte ai o metoda cum sa faci asta.
Pe scurt, despre asta e.
Cam putine exemple, pentru gustul meu.
Exercitiile propuse mi se par absurde (sa scrii 200 de motive pentru care ... ).

A new perspective for me on infatuation, resentment and love. If you think you're missing something, you're wrong. There is never anything missing in your life - except your perception. Interesting read.
