I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.
Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.
Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.
Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.
Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

Nick Noble left home after a violent dispute with both his best friend and his father. He is now returning after 10 years and his father's death. During that time, Nick has grown up, matured, found God, and been a cop. But he still feels he is on shaky ground.
This story reminds me a great deal of the prodigal son. All of the main characters have their own set of problems and are busy trying to determine who and what they are and how they relate to God. Past history has set each of them on a different course that all comes together when they are back on the Silver Buckle ranch. Warren does a great job of including some mystery as well as sweet romance along with forgiveness and second chances. She also is one of the best authors at including a spiritual touch throughout the story and making it feel it perfectly fits.
I already have the second and third books and am looking forward to finding out more about Nick's brother, Rafe, a bronco rider, and his sister, Stefanie, who is running the Silver Buckle Ranch.

An enjoyable read about a cowboy and his unexpected return home after his father’s death. But everything isn’t as it seems about his inheritance...
Loved watching Nick mellow and find God again, and learn to forgive the ones who used to be his closest friends before tragedy struck.

The story is about broken people who made mistakes and through overcoming them and healing, had to learn about forgiveness and grace.
A broken cowboy, a sister out to redeem her brother and a marriage which is barely surviving - all aspects which grabbed me and took me on an emotional ride and satisfying story of reconciliation and forgiveness. Then there was a mystery plot which kept me guessing.
Susan May Warren did a great job of writing Nick - a broken cowboy who I at first disliked, but at the end loved and were rooting for. We as reader is taken along with Piper where our walls are broken and hearts are won by this dashing cowboy with his hard-to-hate personality. I loved Piper's spunk and how she had to learn to cook and her story of salvation and redemption.
Maggy and Cole - oh, these characters grabbed at my heartstrings from the start and I found myself rooting for them, wanting to cry with them, shake them and make them sit down and just be honest and talk.
Psalm 103 was key for these characters and the author made this message of forgiveness flow so easily within this story. And she was successful in driving me towards reading this Psalm again.

Nick Noble has been away from his home The Silver Buckle for over 10 years. He left home an angry young man and never knew how to return and apologize to those he loved and hurt. Now his father has passed away and left part of The Silver Buckle property to Nick's childhood friend Cole. Nick swears one thing-he will never allow one piece of Silver Buckle property to fall into Cole's hands. He returns home to protect the land he was raised on and to hopefully make amends to those he hurt when he left, but not to Cole, no never to Cole.
Piper Sullivan is a journalist trying to clear her step-brothers name and prove that Nick Noble framed him. Determined to get the evidence she needs to provide justice for her brother Piper hires on to The Silver Buckle as a cook. One problem though, Piper cannot cook! Believing that all she needs is one week to gather her evidence Piper bluffs her way through her first big meal.
Maggy, Nick's sweetheart through high school and into college married Cole soon after Nick left. They have had a good life, but now Cole's health is deteriorating and he faces leaving their son and Maggy with more than they can handle. When Nick returns Cole knows that Maggy will go running back to him, after all Cole feels that he never really deserved a girl like Maggy.
Add in to all of that a suspense element and Reclaiming Nick grabs the reader and keeps them turning the pages through all of the twists and turns to the surprising and satisfying conclusion.
Reclaiming Nick had me from the beginning and now I am going to go order the next book Taming Rafe to continue on with the Noble family story. I liked the human-ness of the characters in Reclaiming Nick and their need to forgive, be forgiven and forgive themselves. I also liked the romance between Nick and Piper. I got a little frustrated with Cole and Maggy's relationship, the reader knows that Maggy loves him, but having felt like he was in Nick's shadow all of his life Cole is a man who cannot believe his good fortune in gaining the love of a woman like Maggy. A great story with lots of twists and turns to keep the readers interest!

WOW! This was awesome! Why did I wait so long to read this! These characters are just really special. The setting is beautiful and the story is breathtaking! Cole and Maggy's story really stole the show. I can't wait to read book 2!

Nick Noble never intended to be the prodigal son, but when family secrets abound, that would be much better hidden, attitudes better left tethered are unleashed with a fury. Piper Sullivan can’t forgive Nick for falsely accusing her brother and landing him in jail for a murder he didn’t commit. Worming her way onto the family ranch, Piper is determined to seek revenge, but instead discovers more than she ever bargained for.
I had never read a Susan May Warren book before, oh the shame. Her style took me a little while to really dive into. Often I would sit back and go “huh? did I miss something?” But really all she was doing was dropping a “clue”, which all became clear as the book progressed- you just have to get to that point. The tension in this book was incredible. Nick and Piper were lovable characters, but you just wanted to knock their heads around to get them to see the light! Talk about love, Susan knows how to drag out tension and release it with a snap when it comes to the hero and heroine. Add in a stampede, a murderous villain and some really hard biscuits and you have a winning novel. I look forward to reading more in the series.

There are so many secrets being kept between various characters. Lots of twists with character relationships and backgrounds that made it a little hard to keep up with at times. Nick Noble is the main character we are following, he has returned home after 10 years away on the passing of father. He is holding a major grudge on a few people and returns determined to overturn his father's will. Side characters are: Piper, who arrives at the ranch with a secret agenda and while we know what it is no one else does. Cole and Maggy, who have their own secret they are keeping and have battles they are currently facing. Stefanie, Nick's sister who has been on the ranch all along.
I was more interested in Cole and Maggy and their situation than I was in Nick and felt like I didn't get to spend enough time with them. I found Nick hard to get to know and understand. He is very bitter and has been holding onto anger for a long time, come home for revenge but then he changes almost instantly when something is revealed. I did want to see him change and was happy with the choices he made going forward, but it his change did feel too instant. I was happy with the way the story ended for Cole and Maggy. I just didn't connect with Nick or Piper. The setting of the ranch was wonderful though.

I honestly have no idea how many times I've read this book. More than three at least. I first bought it back in 2006, so it's safe to assume I've read it a lot! And I just stayed up until 12:30am totally riveted, with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face, unable to put it down. Again. Susan's writing is just incredible. The vivid setting made me wish I could run off to Montana and meet these vibrant and engaging characters. The story is heart wrenching and yet so full of hope. This was the first book I ever read by Susan May Warren, and she has since become my all time favorite author.

A strong 4.5. I was entertained, I swooned, I sighed. Such happiness.
This book was not supposed to be this good. It was supposed to be a cheesy cowboy story, which was what I was in the mood for. But it turned out to be so much more! And I loved it! Did I mention there were cowboys?
This was my first book by Susan May Warren, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed her writing style. She developed the characters so fully. I felt totally immersed. The emotions, the drama, the complicated relationships - it was so believable. The descriptions of the scenery were so vivid, I could actually picture it in my mind. And there was even a “Whoa, I didn’t see that one coming” moment.
The only reason it didn't get a full five stars from me is that near the end, the Christian factor ramped up a little more than I would have liked. It got just a touch heavier than it needed to be, but not enough to deter me from wanting to read more by this author.
Overall, it was a great read. Definitely going to look for book 2 in the series.

I’ve been a fan of SMW since starting her Christiansen Family Series, but hadn’t yet read this even earlier trilogy of books about the Noble Siblings. After reading one of this author’s newest releases (Knox) earlier this year and seeing characters creep in from the Noble family, as well as the Montana Rescue series and such, I was determined to go back sooner than later and read her earlier work. This author never disappoints. She honed her craft early and Reclaiming Nick was as great as her newest work. I enjoyed all of the characters and as always, the faith thread that wove itself around the characters and through their lives. Along with the romances involving two separate, but connected individuals, there was a light suspense element that added a spark of intensity. I enjoyed the complete story and look forward to the nest two books about the younger Noble siblings.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love cowboys. My friends like to tease me because I'd choose a guy in a cowboy over a guy in a tux. So when I found out this series was about a cowboy, I was really excited. Then there's Piper a journalist. I'm always interested about books about journalists because I am one. So this book had a very interesting premise.
However, as much as I did love this one, I fell like it fell a little shy of its potential. When I compare it with other books in this genre, it's not my favorite. However, I did really really like it.
The book is pitched as a modern-day version of The Lost Prodigal. A comparison that is right on the money.
When Nick Noble finds out his father left him half of the Silver Buckle and gave half to his old best friend and now enemy. Nick can't believe it and comes home to protect his family and their land. But nobody else seems to agree with him. His sister Stephanie doesn't seem concerned about letting the ranch go. If anything, she sounds down-right frustrated that he returned for the wrong reasons.
Piper knows her brother didn't commit murder. In fact, he has just been acquitted of that crime. And she knows that Nick was the one who set him up. She's determined to bring Nick down. And if that means pretending like she can cook, then that's what she'll do. She's a journalist. She can handle it.
But as Piper and Nick set out for revenge, they'll find that sometimes redemption, forgiveness, and second chances are even better.
This book had a hint of suspense, but I felt like it could have been developed better. It was always on the periphery. I would have liked to see that plot be more developed.
I did however love the characters and the way that we were able to delve into all of their minds. That was great. The characters were not perfect but neither were they so flawed that it was unbelievable. They all had issues to work through and the past to overcome.
Susan May Warren is a great writer. This is a series that I can't wait to finish. I'm excited to meet Rafe, the rodeo star in the next novel.
In Summary: Warren's writing is nothing short of fantastic. Her characters are believable, the pacing moves rather quickly, and her story is bound to draw readers in. However, as much as I loved it, I would have liked it better if the suspense had been more developed.
The Wrap-up: All in all a great start to a great series. I'm excited to see what Susan May Warren does with this novel. If you like Christian Fiction, romantic suspense, or books about cowboys, then you would probably enjoy this book.

However, when his father dies and leaves part of the ranch to Nick's ex-best friend, Cole St. John, Nick returns to the Silver Buckle with an unswerving tenacity bent on keeping Cole out of his family's legacy. Nick's anger is grounded in a belief that Cole is out to take his family's fortune just like he stole Maggie- Nick's high school flame. Meanwhile, journalist Piper Sullivan arrives at the Silver Buckle with her own agenda. Under the pretense of being a ranch cook, Piper believes she will be able to get close enough to Nick to gather evidence that he framed her brother for murder. However, as she begins to spend more and more time with Nick, she comes to understand that he had no ill intent when he arrested her brother. As the two grow closer and begin to fall for each other, Piper becomes an instrumental healing agent for Nick in taking responsibility for his past mistakes and finding hope for the future as family secrets and attempts to sabotage the family's ranching business begin to unravel his world.
Reclaiming Nick contains all of the elements of a good drama-laced embittered family legacy story- rich boy gone rogue, struggling ranch that has been in the family for generations, affairs of the heart, deception, and having to cope with never feeling good enough. Although the first part of the novel deals largely with Nick's anger and bitterness from the past and his actions at times resemble annoying adult temper tantrums, the story soon kicks into high gear unfolding a complicated plot full of excitement! This is one of those stories that you think you know what's going to happen but the reader gasps when the truth is revealed. While at times the varying themes may have seemed a tangled mess, Warren brings everything together with an ending that had me reeling with surprise! Can't wait to read the next two novels in this series!

Although the first part of the novel deals largely with Nick's anger and bitterness from the past and his actions at times resemble annoying adult temper tantrums, the story soon kicks into high gear unfolding a complicated plot full of excitement! This is one of those stories that you think you know what's going to happen but the reader gasps when the truth is revealed. While at times the varying themes may have seemed a tangled mess, Warren brings everything together with an ending that had me reeling with surprise! Can't wait to read the next two novels in this series!

I just finished Reclaiming Nick for the first time a couple of days ago, and I cannot explain in words just how much I enjoyed it. Susan May Warren did a wonderful job weaving the mystery into her story; there were so many incidents that I never saw coming. Reclaiming Nick definitely kept me guessing!
Nick Noble’s past is full of regrets. Clearly the last thing he wants to do is face all of them, but when his father dies and leaves half of the Noble family land to Nick’s ex-best friend Cole, he feels he must do something to keep the Silver Buckle in the family. Arriving home, Nick realizes how much has changed since he left, and how he should have been there. While he is sure his father would be disappointed in him, Nick knows he can’t turn back time. Can he find a way to make it up to his family, or will he just make a big mess of things?
Piper Sullivan didn’t have the ideal childhood. With a firm belief that Nick Noble framed her brother for murder, she seeks to exact justice on the person she can do something about. While she cannot change her childhood memories that still give her nightmares, she can do something about Nick. Traveling to Montana, she finds work as a chef on the Silver Buckle so that she can have Nick right under her nose. There’s just one problem. She doesn’t cook.

Nick Noble left home many years ago after finding out his best friend, Cole, is now with his girlfriend and ends up arguing with his father. He is presently working in a restaurant when his father's attorney, Sam Lovell, finds him and notifies him, his father has past away. The attorney informs Nick, his family ranch, the Silver Bucklet is badly in debt and his sister is planning to turn it into a tourist attraction to save it. And, his father left half of the ranch to Nick's childhood friend.
Nick returns home to the family ranch and attempts to get the half left to Cole back.
Nick's past is catching up with him. The sister of a man he had arrested for murder is after information on him. Nick finds out a lot has happened since he left home as well as a lot of secrets kept from him.
I felt sad about Nick leaving home and never returning to get to the bottom of things he had no knowledge of before it was to late. I felt happy for his father, who after making mistakes, turned his life around and found the Lord. His father left his children with memories of his Christian beliefs.
This is a books about the things that happen within families and how if not handled properly can made for a bad situation. But God steps in to help work things out. I strongly recommend this book.

The first of the Noble trilogy.
Nick returns to his family's ranch after 10 years away. His father has past away and his help at the ranch is needed. In his time away, he was a cop for a while and helped convict a man of murder who has since been released because someone else confessed to the murder. The man's sister, Piper, believes that Nick committed the murder and is out to prove it.
I listened to the audio books of this one. It took a bit to get into it. I wonder if the reading made it a little less exciting for me. Sometimes I just didn't get the connections between the characters. It also took me a long time to finish it since I listened at work and kept getting interrupted. Once I got to the last hour (it is a total of 7.5 hours), though, I just wanted to keep listening because that is when the whole story came together. I missed the little things, so there were some surprises.
I've read Christian books before and God is a main part of the story, but this one seemed to barely mention God for a while and then all of a sudden it was all Bible verses. It seemed a little too much at the end. I like the meaning and what the Bible verses mean, but some of it just seemed preachy.
I will read the rest of the series.

I wasn't super excited about this book (no offense Cheryl-lynn). Sometimes it's hard to start a new author and read something outside of my typical genre. But it was an enjoyable read. It takes place in Montana and Sheridan, Wyoming. I lived in Sheridan for a couple years so I felt I could really envision the land and relate to the people. The dialogue was sometimes cheesy and preachy, everyone quoting scripture in their everyday conversations. Not that there's anything wrong with books having a spiritual tone to them, I just don't think people talk like that. Unless it's in Sunday School and even then it's hard to get people to talk. Everyone was very weepy too, very Anita Stansfield-ish. It was a well told story with fun characters, I think she's a good author. I'll definitely finish the series.

I've had this one on my "to-read" list for a while and finally decided to break away from my usual historical romance and read one with a contemporary setting. Nick was the hunky, cowboy hero that was coming face to face with consequences of past mistakes. Piper was the reporter out for revenge not a relationship. Although I enjoyed the book, I just didn't connect with Piper or the romance between her and Nick. There were really only a handful of good conversations between them so I felt like the relationship was very rushed. Maggie and Cole's story was my favorite part of the book and basically what kept me reading, along with wanting to know the full story of how Cole, Maggie and Nick's friendship ended up torn apart. I guess I'm saying I enjoyed the overall plot but the romance fell flat for me.

Nick is finally returning home after years of absence. But someone is trying to take his ranch and he feels it his duty to return. Piper is seeking justice. If that means posing as a ranch cook to get answers she's willing to try. Even if she's never cooked a day in her life. Contested wills, gun shots, and tangled romances all fit together in one amazing book.
Great characters, excellent plot, and fun twists make this a great read. The author wove two love stories into one book while creating drama and suspense. The message of redemption and forgiveness was strong, but not overpowering. The imagery of cowboys, ranch life and Montana was beautiful. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

Whew,was not expecting such a gripping suspense romance!
The Noble Legacy series is my first experience reading Susan May Warren,and I am impressed. I read "Taming Rafe" first,and I have to say I liked him better than Nick,but I was really surprised and pleased to find "Reclaiming Nick" such an interesting and suspenseful story. The romance starts sooner in this book,but even though I didn't much care for Piper in comparison to Maggie,I was satisfied with the way things worked out.
I had to deduct one star for the old bologna about wolves being a threat to mature,healthy stock. There have been too many studies, with video included that disprove that fallacy. So her research is lacking. Other than that element bothering me,I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful romance,and I highly recommend it.

I've just finished Nick and Piper's story, and it was a wonderful story about how God can redeem us. Susan is utterly awesome telling us how Piper and Nick could fall in love with each other. I was often frustrated with Nick, due to him being bullheaded, but I love him all more for his redemption. Piper was utterly fun and heartbreaking.
I liked the secondary story around Cole and Maggy (though Maggy's spelling annoys me. What's wrong with Maggie?). Though I often thought Cole was annoying due to him not accepting that Maggy loved him, I liked his storyline... in the end, when he accepts Maggy loves him for being Cole St. John. Maggy was an utterly awesome woman. I like that Susan didn't make Maggy and Nick end up together. They were good, but they didn't match at the time, and now both have moved on.

Nick Noble is a modern day prodigal son. He's finally returned to the family ranch after leaving ten years ago. His father has died and Nick has found out that the ranch has been split between him and his siblings and his former best friend Cole. He wants to know why Cole should get what is rightfully his. Piper is pretending to be a ranch cook so she can investigate Nick who she believes is the cause of why her brother went to jail. The two develop a relationship against Piper's wishes. Meanwhile many secrets float around the ranch, and it also looks like there is someone who doesn't want anyone to own a part of it.

I enjoyed the book. It is obvious from the beginning that the two men are brothers and that the child is Nick's son. There was a twist in the book that I did not see coming. So, it brings up questions: Why did the lawyer sell off all of his land if he wanted his wife's portion. Revenge is a poor excuse after 30 some odd years? What happened to Jimmy/Jay? Why did the restaurant owner turn into the town's gossip? There was no hint that she was malicious. It seemed out of character. Overall, It is a good read.

Journalist Piper Sullivan has a mystery to solve one in which she believes her brother was wrongly accused in a crime by former police officer Nick.
The story has some twists and turns and you find that with these two main characters, romance doesn't come easy.

I'm a huge fan of Warren's work and this book did not disappoint. I missed the Christiansen clan from Northern MN, but the Montana ranch setting was just as appealing. The connection to the prodigal son was intriguing and was hinted at briefly although not overdone or too directly shadowed. I feel like Warren creates intriguing eldest brother characters and delves into the problems they face while finding their roles in the world and the family.

I enjoyed the book, but I do have to chuckle a little at the description of this being "heart-pumping suspense." The description of "heart-warming romance" does fit, but the little bit of mystery in the book was predictable by the middle of the book.
