Lorena Quinn #7

The Queen Of Unseelie

Rate this book
Ending a war is complicated.

Mix in carrying a baby, escaping assassinations, and living through betrayal, and you have chaos, but not for Lorena Quinn.

For a necromancer, it’s just another day. Her life is far from normal and with five—or was it six? —lovers to call her own.

She’d murdered, buried, and forgotten the need for normalcy long ago.

Now, all she wanted to do was survive.

But when survival means giving up someone she loves, things get kind of tricky.

But Lorena isn’t just a witch anymore. Now she’s the Queen of the Unseelie, and it's time she started acting like it.

::maybe spoilers but if you've made it this far you're probably fine::
i noticed the typos throughout the series as much as the next reader, but by the halfway mark in book 7 it was less funny and more infuriating. i genuinely can't believe this ever hit an editor. the plot twists throughout lorena's series were constantly out of left field, but once again, the ending of book 7 had me so upset that i couldn't even suspend my disbelief like before. lorena was unbearable at times, but overall i can't be mad because it was all very human and age/situation appropriate. i also really related to her wondering how anyone could stand to be around her for long, so i might be a little biased lol. ewan's whole weird arc at the end was not only so unbelievable but also wayyyy too quick, as was the entire ending tbh. i would've expected a couple more chapters, if not a whole other book that showed lorena and her guys as they deal with the consequences (good or bad) of their son being born and the prophecy finally coming to fruition. their reactions and more of their relationships would've also been greatly appreciated. overall, i had fun, but it was also the kind of book i desperately wished to have a hand in editing. maybe then it would've been a great series instead of just something to fill time. (and i totally read all seven books in as many days).

the holes and grammatical errors were unbelievable

It felt like the author got frat-party wasted before sitting down to write a drunk text that happened to double as a novel. Aside from the gaping plot hole from the previous book of Vlad being the one to announce the pregnancy (and then subsequently collapse), and then he just vanishes into thin air until he comes back to kidnap some kids? Author was out here using words that don’t exist (sutt for SOOT, perhaps?), and writing sentences that make absolutely no sense. Maahes switches from being a boy to a girl and back… I can’t even gaslight myself into thinking maybe she just wanted to be done with the series bc there’s like a hundred books after this! Just… please invest in an editor. Or at least read what you wrote. We like the story and have invested in it, please don’t insult us by writing like that one person who needs their phone taken away after one too many lemon drops or jaegerbombs

Great Story with too many errors

I really liked the story, but there were a gross amount of errors. It was almost like the book was published straight from a speech to text program. There were words that sounded like the word that needed to be used. Pronouns were messed up for characters. Different names were in the text that had nothing to do with the character speaking. Punctuation points where there shouldn't be and even spelled out open and closed quotations. Anyone just reading it once through would be able to catch many of these errors, but it was published with these gross errors.

Felt a little rushed

I enjoyed each book in the series and they read relatively smoothly, despite grammar errors. The grammar errors were irritating, especially since it was not just misspelled words, but words/sentences that made no sense. Additionally, sometimes the author either forgot what was written in previous books or failed to elucidate on why a change was made. For instance, the baby's name was supposed to be named after her friends, but that is not what happened nor discussed. There were other little errors like that. I enjoyed the storyline and how it progressed in each book. However, important details were skipped. For instance, one of her men is injured and somehow her kiss heals him. There is no explanation. It was very frustrating because these type of incidences occurred relatively frequently. I liked the theory of how Lerona's story ended, but it was rushed. I do not know why the villains did what they did because previous interactions, especially after the original villainy occurred and "they" were redeemed in a sense. So, i do not understand why "they" became the villains. Especially because some seemed very nice to Leora in previous books. So, although I enjoyed Leora 's story, I am disappointed. I hope from Blaire's pov there are some answers.

House of Vampires book 7 by Samantha Snow is a 3 ⭐️ read.
Lorena is pregnant and still trying to settle down with her life but nothing is going the right way, she heads to the fae lands to go to the kingdom of water after a magical tree tells her she will find help for Ewan there. She helps some fae children and when she realises what their purpose is she decide to take them back to Earth but not everyone is happy about it.
So I was rather disappointed in this book in more ways than one, this book felt like it was rushed to just get it the end, it ended very “Meh” it was just over without showing how her baby brought back magic and I really hate to add this but it was really badly edited, I know editors are human and can miss a few typo’s and that doesn’t bother me but this book had so many typo’s and mistakes in the book (the first 6 books were perfectly edited) and while it didn’t stop me reading the book I kept have to go back and read-check things because they were changed further in the book and that did annoy me hence why I have added it here.

I had hoped by book 7 there would be a lot more character growth for the FMC. I could understand her reactions to things in the first few books, she was young and inexperienced. Unfortunately she remains very juvenile, and is constantly making rash decisions without thought for how her choices might affect others. Her relationships with her vampires feels odd, she pushes them away or breaks up with them at the slightest challenge, she doesn’t know where they are half the time. She also drove me nuts about the future stuff. She’s told multiple times that knowing her future could be super harmful and change things. She continues to throw tantrums when they refuse to tell her.

There’s so many weird plot twists that happen that are then either overlooked, or solved way too quickly. And the typos were terrible. It was impossible to immerse myself when there was a typo or odd word choice on almost every single page. I think if the author were open to extensive editing there could be potential for the series, but I won’t be continuing the series ☹️

Lorena Quinn is a necromancer, standing between life and death, a witch, and so much more. She never gives up and seems ready to face any situation, even if it may seem hopeless. Betrayal is still a worry, with Wei being convinced that Sirius would try to kill Lorena’s baby. Now she has discovered that she is the Queen of the Unseelie after Ewan’s mother, Queen Titania, was murdered, and she needs to find out what the expectations are for the job. Survival is still most important consideration above all. Will Queen Kobara who ruled the ocean and the mer people be willing to help them with the war? Oberon was king of the Seelie Kingdom and Lorena’s enemy. And he had already come to ask Queen Kobara for help.

This book will not disappoint you! It is well-written with lots of action and a great story line within a fast-paced story. It holds the reader’s attention and provides a very enjoyable read. Grab your copy and enjoy!

The chaos that is the life of necromancer Lorena Quinn continues in this 7th book in the series and life takes a decidedly unpleasant turn! Add being pregnant and discovering that she has become the Queen of the Unseelie to the mix and things get even dicier. How are things going to work out for Lorena? Is someone still going to try to kill her baby even though she has escaped back into the mortal world? Also, what will happen now that humans will possibly have to contend with the magic that was introduced to that world when Lorena made her escape there? So many questions still to be addressed and battles to be fought in the future before she can get the peace she craves with her men and her baby hopefully by her side!

Restoring Magic. Lorena learns where the fae’s magical strength comes from. From killing powerful fae and from killing humans. When she believes Ewan is going to go back on his promise to no longer let slaves be sacrificed for the portal power, she escapes back to the human realm with everyone but Ewan and Zane. Now while finishing her pregnancy, she is learning how to defend herself, and meeting other magical families, because what she did in the fae world has brought magic back in the human world. But there are still those who wish to hurt her and take her child so everyone is cautious. And she has to fina a new way to create a portal because she wants both of her other men with her. Lorena does a lot of growing up in this one. She has become a Queen and is carrying the fate of the future. There is a lot of growth, strength and promise, but that is all needed for the loss, uncertainty and tragedy that will follow. There are a whole new host of characters in this one and I still am unsure if they can be trusted. Lorena does receive two gifts in this one and I wonder if one of those gifts will become a big part of the next book. Dru, Lyte or Zues or all three together can probably take on everyone, but with this cliffy, I wonder who the new enemy is. I say it is her mother now that I know she is back and is not quite herself. I do not trust that woman. I guess we will see!

The story line was ok for the most part. I enjoyed the fae aspects and world building in this book, and felt like it was decent in plot until towards the mid-end/end. At times it did feel overloaded and disorganized. (SPOILER!!) An example of this is the disfigurement with Ewan at the end. It felt like it was thrown in unnecessarily for dramatics when it wasn’t needed and added to the end feeling confusing, overloaded, and rushed. The editing in this book was lacking as there are numerous grammatical and spelling errors, which takes away from the story. Overall, I would give this book an OK rating. Nice for a fluff read if you’re looking for filler, but not earth shattering.

I have now read books 1-7, and here are my thoughts. It was a great idea, but mediocre execution. Many of the plot twists I was able to figure out before they happened. Some story lines are just completely dropped leaving us hanging. And goodness me all the FREAKING TYPOS were like someone used talk to text for the whole book and never went back to check. Overall I found it to mildly entertaining and only went as far as I did because I am stubborn like that.

Edit to add that I found the ending rushed. Especially after a 7 book build up!!!

Great story, story telling needs help

The series itself is really great. Each book is a tasty read with enough details to keep you interested. It took me about a week to read them all (1-7). My biggest complaint would be the grammatical errors and the continuity issues. There's several key points that change between books and are misremembered. There's characters that completely disappear, facts that are misquoted and timeline jumps that aren't explained or even called out. The series could use a good edit, but the story is great.

The ending of this book was a bit rushed.

Kind of getting carried away

How much more weirdness can be piled on top of weirdness? I thought the sex right after the field battle, up against the barn everyone was hiding in, was over the top. I understand magic coming back is a big thing but it just seems kind of ridiculous. And then the big battle against Vlad, she throws one spell and passes out missing everything including the convenient healthy birth of her son? It's just so over the top just like the party bed big enough for everyone in the house.

This very well-written book 7 in the The Lorena Quinn Series is a continuation of a series with amazingly crafted characters that have amazing chemistry. Each character has been very well i developed with interesting personalities and that grow in the story. A must read from a good Author. I have enjoyed this author and her series of books.

I really enjoy the story of these books, it took awhile (about 3 books) to really get to the story but the last two books have been riddled with spelling and grammar errors. Sometimes you have to read the sentence 2 or 3 times for it to make sense and put the right word where it belongs. He and she are intertwined in one sentence when talking about the same person. It is very frustrating. I hope they get a better proof reader for book 8 and 9.

The Story Gets Better With Every Book

House of Vampires 7: The Queen Of Unseelie part of Samantha Snow's The Sons of Vlad series brings on more characters, insight and explanations. There are still numerous editing issues that drive me crazy but the story makes it worth it. Finally we start to see what Sirrus is all about. The future we've been waiting for starts to unfold. The next chapter on the storyline should prove to be most interesting.

Oh man...

This ending was so disappointing!! There were some dramatical errors but the ideas behind the world building we're great! They were so many plateaus that would never uncovered that it was so frustrating to just have the MFC decide she was just going to ignore them and go about her day. That I was willing to accept but this ending was trash it's like the author got tired of the story and just decided to close the book.

Great story, but needs an editor and proofreader

The further I've gone in this series, the more I've liked the characters, but also the more flaws in editing there were. Several were bad enough to force me to reread a section to gain context and plug the correct word in.
I want to read Blair's story, but am afraid the editing will only be worse.
Maybe the author should join some reading groups and ask fellow readers to proofread/suggest edits before publishing.

Loved the story hated all the typos!

The author really needs to had these books off the someone for editing. There are so many typographic errors, wrong word/context errors that it was really tough to read. Each book seems to get worse with errors. Spell check and grammarly will only take you so far.
The story was great! The plot twists outstanding and the cliffhanger ending jaw dropping.

The content of the story was a 5, but the spelling errors were really bad in the edition I read. The editors did really bad in this copy. Everything pulled together really nicely in the story and I enjoyed the humor. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit. I don't know whether to love the ending or hate it; but I do know it's making me look forward to the next book in this series.

I had to stop reading this series as it got so disgustingly raunchy! Plus there were mistakes everywhere. Apparently no editor was involved. I’ve never seen so many and they got worse with each book. It was interesting and could have been a good series but by the seventh book it was her having sex with her 5 boyfriends. Ridiculously gross!

House of Vampires 7: The Queen of Unseelie (The Sons of Vlad Series)

Oh what a wonderful story!! There are so many up’s and downs in this series but all in a good way that really add to the addiction of the story! One minute things are going good and the next thing you know things aren’t going that good.
You will just have to read the series to make your own determination!!

Fabulous story but editing needs some help

I've really enjoyed this series so far, however there was editing issues about every 3 pages. Hire a new editor to proof everything. But other than that this is a great series. I love books that last a while and this one does. I'm still going to continue the series, hopefully the editing issues can be resolved

Incredible book. The entire series is fantastic.

Great characters, amazing world building. The only complaint I have is that they do not use spell checker or grammar checker. Lots of misspelled words and grammar issues. Other than that these books have everything, action, drama, mystery, romance and friendships forged fire.

Someone Needs to be the Editor

This book was poorly written. There’s not only spelling and grammatical errors, but some of it isn’t even coherent in places. Wrong character names, pronouns incorrect, etc. It really detracts from the read. On to the next book and hoping it’s better.
