Mason Maloney has lived his whole life in the shadow of his twin brother, Nathan, star quarterback of the football team. While Nathan impresses everyone in town with his athleticism, Mason spends his afternoons working at the local bakery. His rather mundane life becomes more interesting when his brother's rival quarterback, Sam Knight, gets a job along side him at the bakery. The rivalry between their two schools should keep them apart, but does it?
Two quarterbacks from rival schools hate each other; however, one QB works in the same bakery as the twin brother of the other QB. Love rises along with the cakes and muffins, while hate festers between the dueling locker rooms and grid irons. If you can overlook the novice writing errors, Mason and Sam will show you how love always wins, regardless of who wins or loses on the field.
So... I am writing this right as I finished this book, and my eyes are read, my eyelids are sticky from tears, I was just not expecting to get so attached to the characters so quickly! This was an amazing book. I did not have high hopes for it because it seemed like the classic cheesy Wattpad book that was going to take me forever to get through.
After finishing the book 2 days after really hyper-fixating on it, I can say that I love this book and this author! I grew so attached to the characters, though they read very similarly to most other LGBT BxB books. The character development led me to have a very different reaction to what I would think to be somewhat different circumstances.
The author also did a brilliant job when working with the mature scenes. They were able to avoid the explicit details, which I rather appreciated. The book then became more of a romatic icon rather than a smutty fanfiction. I am appreciative of that.
I honestly just really love these types of fluffy, cute, enemies-to-lovers style books. The Wattpad writing is even better than some of the print books despite the spelling errors and grammatical issues. The POV is not difficult to follow like it is in some books and the author only starts switching when it starts to be really important to the subplots and character development. There is a huge surprise in the epilogue so you can not skip that!
Please, give some of your time to read this book! It was honestly such a treat to see something so refreshing out of reading books by Adam Silvera (some of which are super sad) and into something that was predictable but still a good, enjoyable read.
SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK

Okay so at first I hated it and I thought Sam was playing with Mason and I was PISSED, to say the least. I was like you know it would've been so much better if his brother and Sam weren't archenemies right like even Christo is so much better - but then just like every other story, Sam turns out to be the knight in shining armour - quite literally - and they both get a happily ever after, it's actually like actually actually such a good book. I APPROVE.
I’m new to Wattpad and this gem is the first book I’ve finished reading on that platform. It was an amazing love story and honestly, I’m going to miss all of the characters, especially Mason and Sam.
I love Mason so much and Sam had some very dumb moments but I like him regardless, Christo is like the most wholesome character out of them all and my god the ending was so cute I was crying like full on.
Quite a good gay story. Simple, with a quite popular plot of forbidden love, set in a school setting. The story itself has so many twists and turns that it leaves you wanting more and more with each chapter. After reading it, I was sad that it had already ended.
I've re-read this novel over 5X from beginning to end. It's the ONLY novel that I don't miss the smut in. Truly wonderful and consuming. Re-reading now for the umpteenth time!
