Not the thing my one-night stand should've said to my overprotective brothers, even if the baby bump is going to be obvious in a few months...
When the hottest hookup of my life pops back up, saying I'm pregnant with his child, I'm dumbfounded. How did he find out?
As it turns out, he got a letter from my "lawyer," telling him to do the "responsible thing" and give up all parental rights to the baby. He's insulted, saying he won't be like his father and abandon his duties. He'll do the right thing and marry me.
Except...I won't marry for anything less than love. Not for a sense of responsibility, not for money, and definitely not because of some ridiculous letter I never sent. Which begs the question—which of my brothers do I need to strangle for that letter and the "lawyer" I supposedly hired?

This book just didn't work for me and it was probably my own fault. I was just looking for an easy read, baby daddy drama maybe, and some romance. But the whole blackmail plot from Jo's ex just had me rolling my eyes and left me wanting Jo to stand up for herself a little more. The entire thing felt really weird since she didn't seem too upset that her ex was blackmailing her, almost gave in to marriage at one point, and I just didn't see a ton of true emotions from her about it. And then there was her family that was so over the top it wasn't even funny, it was just weird. And the parts that I was actually looking forward to with Jo and Edgar felt more like the background plot and not focused on.
Overall, I can see why a lot of people will enjoy this book but it wasn't for me.
I love Edgar and Jo. Their chemistry is scorching and their first meeting results in a night with very little sleep. About a month later, they realize it also resulted in a baby. Jo is a confident, fashionable manager of her own business. Edgar is the CEO of a powerful company in Louisiana and the eldest son of a prominent southern family. However, his family has a scandalous background and he carries a lot of baggage. Jo’s family, in contrast, is large, extended, boisterous, supportive, and loving. I loved reading as Edgar experiences Jo’s family and realizes how different it is from his experience. As Jo learns of Edgar’s background you can feel her heartbreak over his experiences. I had a hard time putting this book down. There is some drama, some heartache, some humor, and definitely some heat. I was fully committed to seeing how their story unfolded to get to their HEA. I enjoyed glimpses of characters from previous books and pre-cursors to future books. I am personally so looking forward to when Yuna gets her book. I just love her character. This is written in first person from a dual POV.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest review after receiving an Advance Review Copy form the author.
Engaging and funny, the premise of this story wasn’t my favourite but it featured likable characters that made you want to root for a HEA. I liked seeing all the characters from previous books and having their HEAs woven into this story.
I skimmed the intimate scenes but the author made this more than just that. I appreciated that neither MC seemed too “about-town”. Other than Court, it seemed like at least their horrible parents raised boys who didn’t treat women like tissues. It’s a wonder how it happened given that their mother especially was an awful person.
I also liked that this story featured a Hispanic woman. It wasn’t very blatant, but certain cultural details were subtly charming. Overall, I did enjoy this story.
I'm sorry but where was the love? where was the romance? what was this? how are these people together?
These characters know next to nothing about each other. They don't talk to each other nor make serious attempts to get to know one another.
Both of them are dealing with some some serious things in their lives and now have a baby on the way and yet they don't really talk to each other about the things going on with them.
Edgar wants to marry Jo but doesn't believe in love and also he doesn't tell her anything about the cluster-fuck that is his family. Jo wants to marry for love and makes the assumption that Edgar's opinions on love have magically changed because they live together and have a baby on the way. She is also constantly being blackmailed and is in over her head and rather than ask her family or her extremely well connected friends or her baby daddy for help she submits to the blackmail and does stupid things.
They fucked and made a baby together, they didn't make any attempts to share about themselves or get to know one another and yet somehow magically everything worked out and they fall in love and live hea. What even🤦🏻♀️
P.S - how did she get pregnant? he used condoms and she was on the pill. They must have some serious bad luck for both methods to have failed.
With so much drama that you'll think you're watching a soap opera, this light, fun romance has humor and heart. I always look forward to this author's easy, sexy rom coms, and that's exactly what this is. It starts with the steam, then transitions into a drama-filled but low angst read. I loved our stoic, serious hero and his unwavering support and loyalty. While it was lacking in the "romance" department for me overall - these two seriously needed to have a conversation - it was an enjoyable read from start to finish.
The story follows Jo and Edgar, two people who feel an instant attraction. When they meet at a party, it doesn't take long for sparks to fly and they find themselves sharing a steamy evening. But their lives are in different states, so it seems like keeping things to one night is the best option... until Jo realizes that she might be pregnant. Add in a blackmailing ex and some family drama, and this relationship starts out in a very unexpected way. As Jo and Edgar navigate all of the changes, they find themselves connecting on a level that's not purely physical.
This wastes no time getting right into the steam, and it took me a little bit to warm up to the romance. It's definitely baby-focused and there's not a ton of actual relationship development - there's so much drama that it feels over the top, but that's also part of the appeal. This is for those readers who love a soapy read; a story that plays up the tropes and borders on ridiculous. And that's not a complaint. The author's humor doesn't work for me 100% of the time (there are a few jokes that definitely fall flat or border on offensive), but there's a lightness to the story that makes it fun. I liked Edgar a whole lot and wish that there were a few quieter moments to really develop the relationship more. He's the kind of hero who needed a few more tender scenes to showcase his softer side, rather than the business-like, transactional relationship at the heart of the story. But it's a fun book and I enjoyed reading it.
Maybe it’s me but what the heck did I just read? The story line jumped without any explanation. The characters were ok, but I don’t see why this has all the rave it does. I got 30% in and DNF it was so messy.
This story picks up after Faking It With the Frenemy but you don't have to read that to enjoy this story (although I do recommend it). It follows Josephine "Jo" Martinez and Edgar Blackwood and from the very beginning their relationship is on fire.
Jo loves making her living as a fashion consultant/personal shopper. The people she meets and gets to dress are some of the rich and famous. She loves her family and longs for the type of eventual marriage her parents have....unconditional and undying love. She cannot make it more than four months in a relationship and figures she will never have what her parents have. Through her connections she is invited to an elite party and it is there that she meets the handsome Edgar Blackwood and decides a night of fun with no strings attached is just what she needs. His voice alone caresses over her the first time she hears it and he has looks to go right along with it.
Edgar Blackwood is all business. He is the oldest of the Blackwood boys and in LA visiting his brother, Tony. He runs the family business back in Louisianna but has needed a break away from it after witnessing his father trying to reconcile with his mother behind everyone's back. There is a deeply rooted disgust where his parents are concerned and he does everything he can to not be like them. When he meets Jo he is immediately entranced with her.
They spend that glorious night together and Jo sneaks out the next morning never expecting to see or hear from Edgar again until an unexpected surprise has her cousin contacting him. In the midst of her coming to terms with her ex-boyfriend pops up and is blackmailing her and she wants to protect her family so she goes along with him.....until Edgar shows back up and potentially saves the day.
All throughout this story their relationship builds little by little and there were times when my heart just broke for Edgar and the brokenness of his family. He is a man of worth and will do anything for Jo. This story has laughter, family dynamics of the huge variety, a bit of suspense and definitely a HEA. This is only the second book by Nadia Lee that I have read and I have full intentions to go back to the beginning to learn the stories of all the other characters in this story. **I was given an advanced copy of this in exchange for my honest review**
When Jo marries, she wants what her parents have-a real relationship that stands the test of time where love endures all obstacles and shines. She does not want a contract for the sake of the baby. She does not want a love less marriage. She wants the whole blasted mess! She wants the man with sexy voice who makes mad passionate love to her, who can take on her brothers, who understands her zeal for fashion and her need for independence. She does not want a man who feels he owes her marriage because he impregnated her during a one-night stand no matter how hot the sex was.
Edgar, on the other hand, wants to do his duty and marry Jo. A marriage, Edgar thinks, does not have to involve emotions. He has seen that himself with his parents’ marriage. He does not want that kind of diabolical arrangement. Besides, he lives halfway across the country from Los Angeles. He can telework to make this marriage work. They can have great sex and raise the baby which he sure is a girl. He likes Jo’s crazy family. He can learn to fit in. But, can he learn to love?
And so, we have Marrying My Billionaire Hookup. If you are a fan of Nadia Lee, you know that there is more to this story! And you will love every twist and turn as I did. I was sent an Advance Reader Copy for an honest review of the book. Honestly, it’s good. GOOD! So good, I bought it for my collection. Nadia Lee always brings a smile to my face.
Edgar, whose voice first attracts Jo, learns for the first time in his life what real love is and what a real family is. By the end of the book, I just felt happy for him and I think you will too.
An exceptionally complicated modern romance. The parental unit’s love model was the final frontier in this couple’s path. Edgar’s parents model dysfunction and Jo’s parents model childhood sweethearts that never part. Chemistry check, professional accomplishment check, adored by friends and family check. These beloved supporting characters from previous books rock this stand alone as a modern chick who is morally liberal but socially conservative. The hero appears conservative on all fronts but his reserve with his lady love folds to her quintessential irresistible qualities. The rich in finance poor in love Blackwoods combine with the working class, upwardly mobile Martinez clan who possess a wealth of warmth and support in their family dynamic. Jo is 💯 % confident in her fashion choices for herself and others. It is her job after all. So many depend upon her expertise as a fashion icon and aficionado. In her choice of romantic partners not so much. Edgar is a stalwart representative of the Blackwood Industries both his family and his town rely on his expertise and business acumen. If his attitude towards marriage was a song it would be Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” This one night stand turned marriage proposal and baby 👶 makes 3 shows a threefold chord is not easily broken. All the pieces come together beautifully when the couple realizes they love each other. They relinquish any insecurities to grasp a love that won’t let them go. An entertaining escapade in the Blackwood, Pryce, and friends circle, enjoy! I received this as an advanced copy. This review is not endorsed or compensated. My honest opinion, I love it! Mas.
Marrying My Billionaire Hookup picked up from the ending of Faking It With the Frenemy, & completely stole my heart. I enjoyed Jo & Edgar's story immensely.
You can't not like, then fall for, Edgar Blackwood. He has a closed-off, tightly buttoned-up exterior, but as you read and see it for what it truly is - a facade, a shield - you can't help but want to shower him with hugs and kisses. He finds it hard to open up to love because he's never had it from the people who should have given it to him in the first place.
Jo is different in that, while she seriously doubts her ability to keep love & a good man in her life on a long term basis, she's known that her parents and family love her immensely. She's just afraid of disappointing them. And despite her organised chaos at home, she doesn't intend on falling for a man with a complicated background who does crazy, twisted things to her heart.
I loved the different subplots and constant action in this book. I was hooked from page 1 until the end. Nadia Lee did a really good job building Jo & Edgar's relationship, and even more stellar job with character development. I genuinely cannot wait to see whose story is next.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
Jo comes from a big family with lots of male cousins and brothers who give new meaning to the word over protective. She also has questionable taste in men and gets bared easily usually before the four month mark. All she really wants is her successful carrier and a marriage full of love like her parents.
Edgar is the eldest and wears that responsibility as well as he wears his $15,00 suits. He really didn't have the best example of love to follow from his parents and sees love as a weakness, something he will never give into. When one wild night leads to Jo being pregnant, one thing leads to another and Edgar and Jo become a couple. There are more than a few bumps along the way including family issues and one of Jo's exs but as Edgar and Jo learn to get past their pasts they might just make it together.
I loved the side interaction between Jo and her family, I loved how even though Edgar and his brothers have been through a lot they remain close, each other and have each others backs. Most of all I love that Edgar and Jo both grow in this book. It's full of caring and learning to love and respect.
This is Edgar and Jo's story of what happens when one night together results in something - or rather someone - they didn't expect. Things get complicated quickly. She is looking for true love like she's seen in her parents' relationship. He doesn't believe in it.
Edgar and Jo may be my favorite couples in the series. They have a lot of chemistry and I the author did a nice job bringing these opposites together. There's drama, humor, and, of course, romance. I did not get the chance to read the series that features Edgar's family, but I definitely want to go back and read it now!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I really liked Edgar. I do however really hate his parents. Have since the Sins trilogy. They are horrible people. Loved seeing the other characters, Evie and Nate, Hillary and mark, Court and Pascal and others. Knowing the family background makes how Edgar acts about love not unrealistic. I love Jo and how close her family is but also found it annoying, for example like what Hugo did sending that letter to Edgar (without even telling her!!). I love how determined he is to get her to be his. But I get how Jo is only wanting to be with someone who loves her. She wants what her parents have. They just have to realize they already have that. So cute when the actual couple is clueless. They have been electric front he start.

Another great story. Edger and Jo story was different from his brothers Tony and Court . I like that all the story Intertwined Together. You read one and You learn about the previous stories too . I wish the mom got more of a punishment than slap on the rest. The dad is an idiot and he lost all his kids because of it . I am glad that Edger is out of his dads clutches and away from his evil mom. He need jo to show him how to love and be loved . Can’t wait to see the next story .
I really hated the caricatures of the Hispanic characters. This author should leave cultures she is unfamiliar with alone . This is supposed to be idiotic and lighthearted but the depiction of POCs was a big no
I have been anxiously awaiting this book ever since reading Faking it With the Frenemy. It was so worth the wait. I loved Jo and Edgar’s story, and I’m happy all the Blackwood sons got their HEA. I hate to see their story end, but I’m hoping that when Yuna gets her story we’ll get glimpses into the Blackwood brothers’ lives again.
First let me say, although this is a stand alone, there are many characters that appear in the previous works of this author. So do what I did, get a list and start at the beginning 😁.
Loved getting to learn more about these 2 characters that have only had supporting roles thus far. This book made me fall more in love with many Characters and despise some even more ... hello Blackwood parents, yuck! Edgar and Jo bring out the best in eachother and it made my heart happy to fall in love right along with them ❤
I wanted to like this book, but it fell short for me. I really like when authors tie characters from other books together, but it felt forced in this book. The characters seemed too over the top, almost to a point of eye-rolling over the top. Both main characters seemed incredibly shallow. Jo worked with fashion. I almost felt like I got more details about the clothes she was helping people to buy/wear than I got towards the actual plot. It was ok, but it took me over a week to read. Considering when I love a book, I’m finished in a day or two at most, that tells me it was just Eh.
Obviously, in missing something here. There were a couple of moments when Edgar (do people still name kids Edgar?) showed some personality and emotion. I liked him then, but for the most part, he had no personality. Completely deadpan.
Jo, I didn't particularly care for. She was supposed to be this really successful person with wealthy clients, yet she was going to cave in to her sleazy ex's blackmail. Really? She could run a business, but couldn't find a way out of that mess.
I also couldn't understand why she and Edgar couldn't take the time to get to know each other. Maybe then, she would have been able to ask him about the situation with his parents. And why didn't she ever tell him what his mother tried to do? His wasn't forthcoming about his family situation, but she definitely made no effort to find out.
This book had little to no emotion. I felt no consistent chemistry or connection between Edgar and Jo. I have to admit that there were some funny parts to the book. Those revolved around her friend Yuna.
Lastly, this book was entirely too long. It went on and on and on for 55 chapters. Edgar didn't figure out how he felt about Jo until well after 90% of the book had been read. I didn't get any sense of romance from this book at all. I would rate it at 1.5 stars, just for Yuna's humor.
What a cluster f^ck! I didn’t get the “FEELS” not one time while reading this book. The only feeling I got was annoyance. First of all, Edgar??? Ugh that name drive me nuts. Why?? Why pick that out of all the names you could pick. His character did nothing for me, he was written plain and blah. He had no personality whatsoever. There were several parts where I felt like what was written for him to be saying should have been for a woman. As for Jo, geez. Bad luck followed her everywhere. One too many blackmail threats for me; it was like she was an easy target. Didn’t want to ask any of her family or friends for help.
Edgar and Jo barely knew each other when they got pregnant, so when Edgar proposes marriage and her family asks if he loves her, what did she think he’s say???
The non-communicating on both of their parts was also super annoying.

Jo Martinez has made a name for herself as a fashion consultant and personal shopper in the demanding city of Los Angeles. If only she was as good at picking out men as she is picking out designer clothes!
She meets billionaire, Edgar Blackwood, at a party honoring one of her friends. The two have an instant connection and decide to forgo the remainder of the party for several rounds between the sheets! It was a one-night stand and Jo never expected to see Edgar again. However, a month later she is facing the possibility she may very well be pregnant with his baby! She’s still too scared to actually take the test to confirm it. Her meddling cousin, however, has already taken the liberty to send Edgar legal paperwork before she’s even faced the possibility of a pregnancy or even told him (or anyone) about it!
Edgar grew up in a household where having kids was just a responsibility to keep the family legacy going. He’s never known what it feels like to be loved. He refuses to let his own child grow up the same way. So, when he gets the paperwork stating Jo is pregnant, he drops everything and rushes back to L.A. to make sure Jo has everything she could possibly need. He’s ready to do the right thing and marry the mother of his child, if only he could get her to agree!
Meanwhile, Jo’s ex has come to her with a sex tape of the two of them that he recorded without her knowledge! He needs her to marry him so he gets his inheritance. If she doesn’t comply, he will release the tape and make it look like her father sent it out, causing a scandal on the year of his retirement! Jo will do anything to protect her family, she just hopes it doesn’t include marrying Aaron!
This is the first book that I’ve read from this author. I thought it was a stand-alone, but I quickly felt like I was missing a lot of details. And, I couldn’t find a series on the author’s website that this was a part of, but she’s obviously already written books for several of the other characters, be it a single series or not.
I ended up really enjoying this book. I adored Edgar and Jo as a couple, even though I found them both to be a little unrealistic. A billionaire is really going to believe that a baby that resulted from a one-night stand is his without any kind of proof? Especially, when he used protection and she was supposedly on the pill. Not to mention, when he found out via legal documentation instead of from her personally? I also found her to be too understanding and too easy to let him off the hook. You’re pregnant by a billionaire and you’re ready to do the whole single parent thing? Regardless, of that though the book was good and the two had great chemistry!
I loved how protective Edgar was of Jo and the baby. I think he will fit right in with her brothers and cousins, who I also enjoyed! I suspected what was going to happen with Edgar, and his family and the business though.
This was an entertaining book, but I wish the ending had been … more. How can you have a book entitled Marrying My Billionaire Hookup that doesn’t even show the wedding? It also never showed the birth of the baby, although you get a scene from several years in the future that lets us know who won the gender debate! I just wanted more of those sappy kind of scenes that make me smile like an idiot there in the home stretch!
I did like the story though, and I will be sure to check out some of the books of the other characters as well!
Edgar Blackwood is now the remaining Blackwood brother & son to find love. His leading lady is no other than our favorite fashion consultant & stylist Jo Martinez. Let’s just say the couple’s initial introduction at Yuna’s Party at Anthony & Ivy’s opulent home marks the start of a complex journey to HEA. I will try to keep this spoiler-free, but there are a few that caught my attention. First on the list is Jo. Readers of previous books mostly know Jo as the in-demand Fashion Consultant and with impeccable fashion sense. However, there is much more to her character than her career.
When she is not in work mode Jo is much more casual and relaxed especially around her family. Speaking of family, Jo's family is quite a close-knit and interesting bunch from her host of male cousins and older brothers. Also, to add drama we have Jo’s harassing ex-boyfriend Aaron with his own blackmailing agenda. Now to switch gears a bit to Edgar. For those who are new readers, Edgar is still reeling from his toxic parents and the aftermath of they have done to their sons and those closest to them. As the oldest son who still works at Blackwood Energy Edgar is still searching for his freedom to live his life on his accord much like his younger brother Tony and Court were finally able to do so. Of course, this where Jo comes by way of her meddling cousin Hugo. After an unexpected pregnancy, Edgar starts to go into planning mode. Of course, Jo halts any potential plans of Edgar. As the story progresses, we see how they not only learn more about themselves and each other. Our current reigning Most Toxic Mother Margot Blackwood also returns to wreck her latest round of havoc. I appreciate seeing more of Edgar’s personality and even getting to see his sense of humor. Also, while he has Alpha moments, I think it wasn’t too heavy-handed or turnoff like it can come off sometimes. Edgar also struggles with acceptance of love in large part to see what it has done his father when it comes to their mother. For Jo, it is about learning to let her walls down when it comes to protecting her public appearance and that she deserves a guy who truly appreciates her. It is always a treat to check in with our favorite characters. Yuna also returns with her latest round of hijinks. While there are several moments that I enjoy there were a few that I wasn’t a big fan of. Edgar’s parents were in such denial of their horrible actions and dismissive of other people’s feelings especially their children among others. Jo’s ex-boyfriend Aaron was the worst. I am glad he finally got he deserved from his numerous crimes. However, this is the 2nd time this type of blackmail happens, but with a twist. Lastly, while well-meaning Jo’s family was a little meddling particularly her cousin Hugo. He meant, but he had to realize Jo is an adult. I love how understanding Jo’s parents are and better substitution for Edgar. Another thing I noticed is how includes Easter Eggs in the stories for the die-hard readers as well. Overall, I did enjoy the story. I already have a few theories building about David Darling and his assistant Erin.
A broken family. A family that loves unconditionally. A man that doesn’t believe in love, and a woman that wants nothing but the LOVE she deserves.
After reading Tony and Courts love stories, it was time to read about the eldest Blackwood brother Edgar. Edgar, as viewed in previous Nadia Lee books- is the serious, responsible, broody son that does what he believes is right. He works for the family company and is a very dependable man that believes in everyone’s potential (regardless of gender). We see in this story that this ultimately becomes a reason Edgar decides to stray away from his relationship with his father, who is the CEO of the company. This, in addition to a decision his father has made that Edgar does not believe is right. He leaves the family hometown of Tempérane to attend a party at his brothers house in LA, and this is where he meets our heroine Jo.
Josephine Martinez is a classy, take no excuses, successful -personal shopper. Her downfall, she’s unlucky in love. She tends to date men that have either demeaned her career, never held their full focus on her, and one lowly sleaze ball that tried to blackmail her for his own benefit. She attends the same party as Edgar and in a chance encounter they meet and spend the night together. All seems well until a month later when Jo misses her period. She knows she’s only been with Edgar and that the baby (if she truly is pregnant) could only be his. She’s unsure however with what to do, as her family is very traditional and would want her to do the relationship “the right way”- dating, love, marriage, and then kids. When Edgar suddenly shows up asking about the “baby,” she is at first confused- wondering how he even found out. She is now battling a new life growing inside her, a passion filled one night stand consuming her thoughts, and the man that is the ultimate cause of both.
Will Jo allow herself to love the man that she thought she would only have for one night? Will Edgar, who is battling the fallout of his own family drama, allow himself to open up to the woman who is carrying his child?
I loved the family connection we got from Jo’s side- as the loyalty isn’t something we have seen in families portrayed thus far in the series. Jo’s brothers and cousins are definitely the “overprotective type,” that just want the best for her. Edgar’s internal battle (of knowing about his family past and all of the added trauma) is definitely something that keeps him from accepting any type of happiness because he feels it will turn out badly. I enjoyed every scene that Yuna was apart of (as I do in all of Nadia Lee’s stories), and I am anxiously awaiting her HEA. She is an amazing secondary character that always helps our heroes and heroines see things clearly. The book had its moments where I felt scenes could have been extended on; however this doesn’t take away from the writing overall. I loved this book and it was a great addition to the Blackwood Brothers Series.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Just when I thought I had Nadia Lee nailed as an author, she throws me a curveball I never saw coming. MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE HOOKUP, the latest rom-con from Ms. Lee, contains a fresh, new take on an old romance trope: accidental pregnancy.
Edgar Blackwood is well known to those of us who’ve read SINS, SECRETS, MERCY, and STEALING THE BRIDE; he’s Anthony and Court Blackwood’s oldest brother. But this book is a stand-alone, and you don’t need to have read those books to understand his driving motivation to be a good father to his unexpected baby-to-be. My heart melted for him.
Jo Martinez, fashionista extraordinaire, who dresses her doctor older brother as well as the rich and famous, has appeared in previous books, but we never knew Family (with a capital F) is what has given her the love and support she needed to succeed in a cutthroat industry.
Edgar and Jo’s love story is a complicated tangle of what we know versus what they know, and in Ms. Lee’s inimitable style, keeps us turning the pages (or rather, tapping the Kindle screen) to find out what comes next.
The sex scenes are hotter than blazes (as usual), but it’s Ms. Lee’s ability to wring every drop of emotion from our hearts that make MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE HOOKUP so extraordinary.
Other familiar characters make welcome appearances, including Yuna (I love, love, LOVE Yuna!), who plays a pivotal role (again!) in the lovers’ resolution.
I highly recommend MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE HOOKUP. It happily reminds me why Nadia Lee is on my must-read list, no matter what else is going on in my life.
MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE HOOKUP by Nadia Lee is romcom gold! This is Edgar and Jo's story. These are two characters who , previously, were only secondary characters in past books yet star front and center now. It's great seeing them as main characters and getting to learn more about them. Edgar is viewed as this super responsible, emotionless, and staid man. Well, that's not really the case. You really need to read this book! Jo is this sassy , loving, emotional person who wants the kind of relationship that her parents have- one that is real and can stand up against anything. Edgar and Jo have this one night stand and Jo ends up pregnant. Jo doesn't want Edgar to be with her because of the pregnancy. She doesn't want to become a "duty of care". Edgar doesn't want a relationship with Jo or want to have this baby but because there's a baby coming, he wants to do "the right thing" and marry Jo. He doesn't want to live together but he's willing to fly back and forth for some bedroom time with Jo and to see his child. What makes Edgar not want to try to be in a relationship and try to be a dad ? I felt so bad for Edgar because I remembered who his parents are. They really did a number on him. Jo's family are great and showed him how a family really is meant to be. This book has everything you need- accidental pregnancy, angst, drama, passion, rollercoaster emotions, feels, secrets, twists, red-hot chemistry, humorous banter, romance, and HEA.
3.5 stars. This was a bit heavier than I was expecting. Nothing too crazy, but there was some blackmail in here. Blackmail over a sextape that Jo wasn't even aware existed. That was annoying. And she seemed so unfazed about the whole situation. Like miss girl, you're preggo with some other guy and your ex is blackmailing you to get married bcs he wants his inheritance. That dude was an ass and she was just going to marry him just like that??? Jo also had an interesting job. Being a personal shopper seems like a lot of fun. Edgar was hot. He hit his emotions very well but a guy with a really nice voice? I'm here for it. This was kind of a slow burn. They don't truly get together until the very end. They slept together and all but Edgar was in denial and was convinced he would never love her. Stupid guy. But yeah they made it work. I love the family aspect of the book. They were all there to protect and support Jo. It must be nice to have such a good entourage. Edgar on the other hand? He only had his brothers to rely on. His parents were terrible people. His mom brought up the sex tape to blackmail Jo. As if the first time wasn't enough. They had absolutely no character development and I'm glad that Edgar cut them out of his life.
Overall, it was a decent book. There were things I liked and disliked about it. It was decent, it just took a long time for things to happen. There was also too much blackmail and shitty people here. It was entertaining sometimes. I really liked Edgar minus the whole "I could never love her" and the whole hidden emotions thing. I'm glad they got their HEA tho.

Ms. Lee has done it again! Sizzlicious fab read with family, friends, and questions about true love
Marrying My Billionaire Hookup is another terrific book that can be read as a standalone, but brings in familiar characters from her other books and advances (in the most wonderful way) the Blackwood family story.
Jo and Edgar hookup unexpectedly at an LA party and never expect to see each other again after she sneaks out ... sans stilettos!
When she discovers she’s preggers from the hookup, her cousin Hugo decides to play amateur lawyer and alerts Edgar. Edgar is neck deep in frustration with his father, both at and outside of work ... and he’s all in on taking care of Jo. But questions of family, work, and love abound.
This story, which showcases Ms. Lee’s skill as a writer, is wonderfully written with scenes that sizzle and dialogue that is witty, raw, and honest. The chemistry and attraction, between Jo and Edgar is off the charts. As they navigate their feelings about family, love, and marriage, they are encouraged by familiar characters from Ms. Lee’s other books: Yuna, Tony, Ivy, Court, Pascal, and Hugo.
This book is a 5 star read for me ... and it should be for you too! Download today and settle in for a delightful read!
