There are a lot of self-help books that are too shallow and therefore lacking substance and research. This is not one of them. It highlighted not only some helpful tactics and exercises for tackling challenging situations--but helped me learn more about myself and the social context of many of my experiences. Very enjoyable read with empowering insights. I am 35 and have often been told I need to be more confident, etc. This book contained many research-based insights I had not previously known about and with which I resonated completely--which is satisfying to understand. Good lessons in personal change for people who find themselves, for one reason or another, to be on the quieter side of the social spectrum. Wish I had found this 15yrs ago!
