Complicated Moonlight

His name is Klive King and my insides flip-flop every time we meet. I sense something is ... amiss, that he's keeping secrets, but like a mortal fool drawn to a vampire, I cannot fight the pull of Klive's mysterious danger. But Jase is hiding something, too, and I'm beginning to wonder if I have a thing for dangerous men. Who is the better bad decision?
****
I should leave Kinsley to Jase. He loves her. She'd never love me if she learned my true identity. Nightshade ordered me to sever all ties to her, however, the further I push her away, the more tempted I am to violate their deadly command and throw us both into peril that forces us together.

Book 2 is BETTER than Book 1! So intertwined, and some serious ass-kicking, badassery, hot temptation and, ahem, 'ball bustin'. -KliveKing is freakin' BRUTAL! I'm still squirming in uncomfortable manhood about that scene! 😨

'Complicated Moonlight' is the second in author Lynessa Layne's 'Don't Close Your Eyes' series. Written for young adults and those who enjoy romance and suspense, this book is smoothly written and moves forward at warp speed. The story is fueled primarily by sexual tension between 24-year-old track star, Kinsley and a mysterious and seemingly dangerous older man nicknamed 'Moonlight,' and between Kinsley and Jase, a major crush and the brother of her best friend. Of course, this is not to mention the tension and odd companionship found between Moonlight and Jase. For those of us who may have forgotten some of the stresses of being adolescent and post-adolescent, author Layne nails the emotional and physical turmoil of these years through exceptional characterization. And she also creates mystery through them, because as the reader moves into book 3, 'Mad Love,' s/he still has no idea why Moonlight is behaving like he is a paramilitary leader fighting a rogue band of dangerous men who keep showing up around Kinsley. I still question why Kinsley tends to call the males around her 'sir' at times, but assume this is an odd quirk of her character. For those who are not prone to reading intentional violence, there is a disturbing scene in this book that some may choose to skip. I already have 'Mad Love' purchased and ready to read!

Fave chapters:

Chapter 8 - the sensual tension is palpable, and what girl doesn't love a hot rocker / SEAL taking you to the beach with a little flair...hot-rodding the '70 Charger and breaking a few laws gets the juices flowing! INVIGORATING!

Chapter 9 - Jase...what can I say? Chill bumps and swoon shivers! When Kinsley's is hunted by a dangerous stalker, who better to clothesline a would-be woman killer and whoop an ass in the most SEAL-worthy fashion! The action is BRUTAL, but oh so satisfying. Jase is definitely in my top 10 of badass book boyfriends now!

KINSLEY! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, GIRL! Get off the dang fence and cowgirl up! Book 3 should be VERY interesting. Got some unresolved frustrations building over here!

Ok this is not my normal age group type of book I would read but it fell into my lap so I thought I love reading so I will give it a try. Wow! This book as all the feels and sexual ones too. I couldn’t put it down snd read it in lighting speed. At least faster than most books. From start to finish it takes you in a ride with suspense, passion, and edge of seat “what next” vibes. The author is very talented snd this book was very thought out . Now I will read the first one. Even though some reviews say this is better I need to see how this started. 💯🥰👍

In some ways this is the best slow burn. In others it’s a reverse harem that’s way too hot to handle. Relatable characters that get themselves into ‘on the edge of your seat with anticipation’ situations. This was my favorite in the series and I read it twice. It’s so good. Romance-suspense and so edgy!

Complicated is an understatement

Torn between the attraction of 2 men, both polar opposites, Kingsley finds she must decide where her heart lies. She has known Jase for years as she is best friends with his sister and has known him to be quite the womanizer. Now, Jase is in hot pursuit to win her as his girlfriend. Mr. Complicated enters her life only 2 years ago, but she can’t deny the effect that Klive King has on her. She is learning about herself, her needs and her desires, but who will truly win her heart. Complicated by not only her feelings, but 2 rival motorcycle gangs come into play. Lynessa weaves a story that is captivating and fascinating.
