An intriguing story. Reese just wants to get home to his family when a landslide and tsunami hits. The story has you gripped until you find out what happens. Can’t wait for the next one.

The first of six books of the “Broken Tide Series”. Some more disaster coming my way. The huge volcanic eruption recently on La Palma and the fact that I’d already visited the island got me interested. So here the catastrophies begin with a huge landslide and tsunami. Plausible for the most part I find it hard to believe that so little had been done in warning the people. At least the part with the unavoidable “preppers” had not been overdone. Fun to read.

The Las Palmas volcanic region has been on the possible-disaster radar for a while and it is good that someone has finally included it in a story. The book was decently written with not a lot of editing issues (hence the 4), but I did have some issues with the characters and some of the plot. The potential disaster surfaced far enough in advance for Cami to try to stop her husband from getting on a boat, yet there was no real notification from any government, news, science entity soon enough to matter. It would have impacted Europe quickly enough to make an earlier news cycle. There is some predictability in the guy-far-from-home-desperate-to get-home character of Reese. He is nearly blinders on focused. I will admit he and Ben were impressive in being able to outrun the huge wave from their boat which was stranded in mud to get to the top of the mount as the wave was coming, including chat time with the kid who hit Ben with the car. Cami is the hyper-aware prepper type and after she tries to warn Reese to not get on the boat, she heads with her daughter to Charleston to shop anyway (??!!). Phone warnings of the tsunami but let's get school supplies, camping gear and maybe sushi. She also had a lot of lapses in her preparations too though she does catch on quickly. Amber is nearly useless and keeps falling back into the state of disbelief and acting without thinking. Still, there are a lot of possibilities in this scenario and I will continue to see what happens.

A mega tsunami...
My favourite genre is the apocalypse. This one is a great story about the destruction wrought by a mega tsunami. And it follows the trials of Cami, who is working to keep her home safe while waiting for her husband to make a thousands of mile trek to get home to her and their daughter Amber. Reese, Cami’s husband is determined to get back to her. There is a lot of solid evidence of the utter devastation caused by the tsunami all through the book, which makes it very real. Characters range from strong and caring to those prepared to do whatever they want. It’s easy to see and understand the breakdown of society and community. The world building shows attention to detail and a lot of research. Fabulous writing!

Awesome start!
I RARELY if ever truly gut bust laugh out loud while reading (startling my entire family). But I had that glorious moment reading this story! Including follow up giggle-provoking moments. What a treat!
Naturally, with these authors, it’s a fantastic book. Everything you’d want in the genre - plus a different twist to it all. Great character development. Interesting and likable, and un-annoying unlikable,characters. Colorful world creation. Tension. And more....
The only aspect I was waiting for was, well, no spoiler ... but it was something to begin occurring at home already. But no big deal. It will happen in Book 2.

Wow, talk about edge of your seat reading!
Amazing detail. I couldn't put this book down. I was reading as fast as I could to find out what would happen next. I can't imagine what these people have gone through. I've experienced a flash flood. There is nothing more scary than dark rushing water with who knows what in it. To face that then to know the hardships ahead is overwhelming. I love the characters and was sad to lose Ben. Just downloaded the next book. Can't wait to go on this journey.

Fast, fun read
Reese and Jo. What an odd couple? What kind of trouble can an unemployed Sales Rep and a retired Park Ranger get into? After a Tsunami wipes out the coast and the rabble come out from under their rocks; it seems like nothing but trouble awaits them. Jo really has no place to go and Reese won't let anything or anyone stop him from getting home to Cami and Amber. Trouble had better get out of their way. Predictable but a fun, very fast read.

I thoroughly enjoyed Overfall, a Broken Tide book.
The characters in this book were definitely defined in a memorable way. As Reese and Cami both struggle with their own challenges for survival, family values are clearly their strong motivation to endure. I really enjoyed the character Jo, A Texan working on the East Coast as a Forest Ranger. She added fortitude, humor, and a bright sense of camaraderie to the story. I am on to book two!

Good start
Generally well written first in a new apocalyptic/post apocalyptic series co written by Mike Kraus. He has a good understanding about how people will react in a disaster and that comes across well in his writing.I love the wide range of apocalyptic series available from Mike, inc his collaborations - there is no real feeling of having read this before, which shows how good a writer he is!. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Better than others of this genre
I’ve read other books dealing with EOW (end of the world), or people surviving catastrophic events. They all seem to have an ex army ranger, or seal team member as the protagonist, but few have real people trying to survive. This author creates real people and scenarios.
The descriptions of the mega tsunami reveal the extent of research the author had undertaken, and the descriptions were masterful.

Great from the get-go!
Okay, this is, so far, an excellent story of ' TEOTWAWKI 'genre. Seriously, from first word to last it kept me thoroughly engaged. The characters are great and storyline is very edge of your seat exciting. If you enjoy this genre, do not deprive yourself. Go get yours.....I'm off for book 2 now.

Book 1 was good. Though Cami's charactèr is an idiot. She tells her husband to back out of a sea fishing trip with his boss and colleagues because she is so sure there is going to be a tsunami- then she decides, what the hell, she's not going to let her worries prevent her from having a girls' day with her daughter! Duh!

Tsunami
Started off just how I like my books fast and straight into it. The characters are all believable and likeable, although Reese just might be a little too much to be believed. Looking forward to the next book.

Great plot! Very different from an EMP or earthquakes. Unfortunately, people show their true colors when confronted with a crisis. I loved the area as it's one of my favorite places to go in Maine. Realistic and could not put down. Waiting for the next book!

A good start
A solid book. Entertaining and solid characters. Not great but pretty good. Some of the action by the characters and their dialog is a little unbelievable and stilted at times but it's fiction and a first book in a series. I will read the next book.

A very unusual story line about the results of a tsunami resulting from a volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands. The entire east coast is flooded. Very well done.

Considering the amount of destruction and panic ,the survivors so far are doing okay. Reese and Jo are on their way south. Cami and the survivors in Charleston are going to have to get ready.

This author puts you right in the middle of a bull's eye! A very graphic description of a tsunami makes you feel like you've right there. It will get your attention and question if you would make he same decisions.

Great read
I’m going back and reading the first two books in the series to fill in some things missing since I started with book three. They are all very well written and could stand alone as a read if I wasn’t so curious to know what happens next.

What a brilliant start to a new series... Mega tsunami warning and there starts this book from being good to being great... So realistic was the writing that it was continuous breathtaking moments. I highly recommend this book.

overall: broken tide book 1
Over Fall: Broken Tide Book 1: (A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller Adventure Series. The book was absolutely wonderful to read. Easy to read, interesting enough to want to dream big and read more.
