Scathach the Shadow and the Clan of Eriu: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great now I want more Scathach short stories!!! I need one of her and Aoife going to the clan of Eriu again! I also really need a backstory of her romance between the Bolg guy!
Aoife of the Shadows:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You go Aoife! It's so amazing to hear about other characters again! Love the reasons behind her mission! Hope to see Sophie sometime soon!
I have always been fascinated with the character of Scathch. Everytime I see her name in a story somewhere, I always end up imagining all these amazing things about her. So I was really happy when she was made into a main character in two of the most amazing books I’ve read: The Alchemyst series by Michael Scott and The Tapestry series by Henry Neff.
Reading The Alchemyst series gave me several characters to love. Aside from Scathach and Machiavelli, there was Aoife. I love her no-nonsense, cold character. But sadly, she had a very brief appearance in yhe series. This short story gave her a bit of a spotlight. Her story was longer compared to her sister’s. But it still leaves you wanting more.
Despite the fact that this is such a short read (30 minutes to 1 hour tops), it still had that magic that Michael Scott imparted on the series. It might not be worth buying because it’s such a short read. But it’s definitely worth reading if you’re a hardcore Alchemyst fan. 😁
There are two short stories in this one: Aoife of the Shadows and Scathach the Shadow and the Clan of Eriu.
There were several errors in Kindle version the book (iIf, for example), but it did not take away from the stories. Scathach's story (~15 pages) was not nearly as interesting as Aoife's (~65 pages) and seemed to be a quick beginning and conclusion with no real build up. There is quite a bit of foreshadowing with two paths destined to cross ("Everything has a reason."), so I hope we get more of their stories.
I read this book as part of the PopSugar Reading Challenge 2021 - A book set mostly or entirely outdoors
The book is split into 2 stories, Aoife and Scathach. Overall, they're OK. Nothing groundbreaking or overly amazing, but they're good for what they are.
For Aoife: 4 star It follows her in a shadow realm guarding a transport when a light in the forest catches her eye. She eventually goes to investigate. It had an expected ending that i guessed as soon as she finds what the light is, but it was still a good and interesting read.
For Scathach: 3 star The story was short and sweet. Nothing much new happens, but we get to see her solving issues without fighting which we don't get in the main series. It follows her acting as a currier when she's attacked and what happens after.
Aoife and Scathach wasn't as exciting or engaging a short story as the others in this series, but nonetheless, it was enjoyable to be once again following two characters that I loved in the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. It was also nice to engage more with Irish mythology, which appeared, but didn't heavily feature, in the larger series.
Aoife of the Shadows by Michael Scott (9/23/23) ★★★ (500 BC) Aoife finds a mysterious object.
Scathach the Shadow and the Clan of Erin by Michael Scott (9/24/23) ★★★.5 (500 BC) Scathach encounters a village where all races can live in peace. But people are sick and dying. A plague or poison is wiping out this secretive group.
Awsome 2 stories about the Shadow twins! Wished they had been a little longer. Loved the to read about thoughts of Aoife and how she interacts with Nels and Bes.
