I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Shades of Darkness is book 16 in the Guardians of Eternity series and another enjoyable read. While I like it I didn't love it. I thought Chaaya and Basq were great together but overall I felt like something was missing. Now while it wasn't a favorite I'm very excited that Brigette is next and hopefully she will find redemption.

Shades of Darkness is the 16th book in the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. The books are interconnected stand-alones, which means that while each book features a different couple, a lot of its plots have been playing out for at least a couple of books and there is a lot of history between the characters, so new to the series readers, might get a little lost.

The book focused on too many characters in my opinion. Chaaya and Basq are the main characters, but at times I felt like they were completely forgotten. We get a lot of different point of views to a point where I felt that the romance between the main characters was nonexistent. It would have worked better if each book wasn't supposed to focus on a different couple. At some point, I did wonder if and how Chaaya and Basq were going to get their happy ending because the remaining pages were only a few and they were in a very bad situation. You will understand what I am talking about when/if you read the story.

Chaaya was a very interesting character and I hope we will see more of her in the upcoming books. The secondary plots might have been one too many, but I liked them and they made the story even more interesting. I hope that in the future they will be less or maybe have the main characters be involved in them.

Brigette is a sore point for me because I do not know what to make of her. I am interested in seeing how the author plans to redeem her since the next book in the series is hers. She did some good in this book, but I am not sure how she can make up for the past. Her book is bound to be interesting.

If you are familiar with the series, you will be used to by now to the million subplots, so I don't think that they will be an issue for you when it comes to this book, so I would recommend it to you. If you haven't read a book in the series so far, I would recommend starting from the beginning and not jumping into this book immediately.

Oh I love this series and heartily recommend reading from the beginning if like me you enjoy a paranormal romance.
Chaaya was sacrificed by her Druid mother in order to save the world from a hungry Beast. She has been trapped in a hellish dimension and now finally is free. Chaaya isn't quite as human as she appears as she can quite literally dissolve through walls but this tiny firebrand is determined to live life to the full. It's just too bad that she's surrounded by grumpy, stiff ( no pun intended ! ) Vampires who seem set on following her around and spoiling her fun ! When an old enemy escapes prison it seems that maybe Chaaya might know how to capture her but she's not going alone because her gorgeous, boring nemesis Basq is sent with her and that's when secrets really come to light !
Another fabulous story set in this world that features Vampires, Demons, Fae, Mermaids, Weres, Imps , Djinn and even an adorable Gargoyle. I wasn't sure about the romance angle initially because there wasn't really much chemistry but I did become convinced as the story progressed. I am still a little unsure how I feel towards Chaaya as she seems forever to want to cause trouble and mayhem wherever she goes. Basq sadly felt quite distant at times and I really wanted a bit more about him. What does have me cheering are the scenes with Levet the tiny French gargoyle who steals every scene he is in. Plus as this ends I'm pretty sure we will get more about the Weres in this world soon and I'm really hoping that the author gets inspired to write a book around the Djinn because there aren't that many stories about them around and if there's an author who can bring them to life its Ms Ivy.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Chaaya was betrayed and sacrificed by her own mother and has been a prisoner for a long time. She was sacrificed in order to save the world from an awful beast. She finally escapes and is a real handful but I think she deserves a little leeway after all she's been through.

Basq has known for a long time that Chaaya is his mate and has vowed to go wherever she goes even if that place ends up being a different dimension.

Chaaya is more than she seems now and can do things that regular humans cannot. When she is asked to find out if an old enemy is behind a prisoner escaping, it's Basq that decides to go along with her and help her. These two make for an interesting couple since she is always seeming to get into trouble and he's always so grumpy. But as they're following the clues to find the escaped prisoner they meet some strange people that help and also hinder their travels. But Chaaya and Basq being the powerful beings they are, have little problem getting out of trouble and back on the trail.

When a big twist is thrown in their direction, I wasn't sure how they would react to finding out who was behind it all. Levet makes an appearance again and I love him so much. He is so funny and I can only hope that he gets his own book at some point.

I have been loving the Guardians of Eternity series and this was another great book. The characters are always so much fun to get to know and the story always keeps me guessing what will happen next.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.75 stars--SHADES OF DARKNESS is the sixteen full-length instalment in Alexandra Ivy’s contemporary, adult GUARDIANS OF ETERNITY paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is vampire Basq, and Chaaya’s story line. SHADES OF DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from a number of third person perspective following several intersecting paths SHADES OF DARKNESS focuses on Chaaya, a not quite human female, whose recent release from hundreds of years in a supernatural prison, sets out to wreak havoc on the world in which she now lives. Having been sacrificed by her mother years before, in an effort to save the world and mankind, Chaaya finds herself a ‘virtual prisoner’ at vampire Chiron’s Dreamscape Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada with her assigned security vampire Basq. The darkness that all but consumed our story line heroine has returned in the form of one-time were shifter Brigette, whose ‘escape’ from the underwater mer prison has started an investigation into betrayal and vengeance. Chaaya is determined to destroy Brigette before she consumes the world, but in doing so, finds herself with an unlikely partner in the man with whom Chaaya will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Chaaya and Basq, and the potential fall-out as the past comes back to claim our story line heroine.

The relationship between Chaaya and Basq begins as an assignment as Basq is tasked with ‘keeping an eye’ on our story line heroine. Chaaya is a bit of a trouble maker at the casinos and bars in Las Vegas, Nevada but there is a price on Chaaya’s head, and Basq must ensure that the woman that calls to his heart, is safe and remains alive. The lone $ex scene is intimate but barely touches the surface of a fated romance.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters many of whom have been introduced in previous instalments: vampire and owner of Dreamscapes Resort Chiron; gargoyle Levet; mer queen Inga; Prince of Imps Troy; were Brigitte; numerous mer people including Jord, Riza, Rimm; and Greta.

SHADES OF DARKNESS is a detailed story line that follows several intersecting and connected paths. As Levet sticks close to Brigette in an effort to ensure the darkness doesn’t escape, Chaaya continues her search for Brigette, determined to destroy the darkness within. The premise is engaging and captivating; characters are colorful and energetic; the romance struggles with a lack of emotion or any palpable sexual energy-there was no discernible chemistry or heat.

Loved it! Another excellent work by an excellent author. So glad that Ms. Ivy continued this series. In this story, we have a female warrior, Chaaya, who can ghost through walls, if need be, and her mate Basq. Filled with action and suspense and a wonderful kick-ass heroine made for a delightful read. There is some back story to Chaaya as she has Druid ancestry, which was interesting. Still don't like Bridgette, Lol. I'm still in love with Levet. So many laugh out loud moments. When are Levet and Inga going to get together? It is pretty obvious they care deeply for each other. A tiny heroic gargoyle and the ungrateful half-ogre and mermaid queen. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me!

Chaaya endured centuries as a sacrifice to save the world from a terrible evil. Now that she is free she is determined to have fun, especially if it means getting under the skin of the silent bodyguard, Basq.

This book was ok for me. I didn’t love Chaaya. She came across as someone who doesn’t care about consequences and lives to cause problems. She got on my nerves quickly and that never really went away. Basq was an interesting vampire. His abilities were very unique but I felt we barely got to know him because of the focus being more on Chaaya and everything else that was happening.

These two started out as very antagonistic towards each other and then abruptly switched gears as soon as Basq admitted she was his mate. Their relationship went from aggression to lust very fast. These two just never clicked for me and their abrupt mating didn’t help.

I also struggled with the progression of the story. I really thought there would be a different outcome with Briggette. The whole progression with her and Levet really made it seem like we would see something big happen with her but we don’t get to see it. There is just a time skip and a brief mention of her. I was very disappointed by that. Also I figured there would be more going on with the mermaids and their traitor but I felt that just ended kinda abruptly. Basically the pacing and storyline in this one was off for me.

Between the relationship and the overarching story I struggled a lot with this book. I don’t regret reading it but it definitely is not my favorite of this series. I am still looking forward to the next book and the continuation of the plot.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Shades of Darkness is the 16th volume in the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. As a series’ fan, of course I’ve read all the previous volumes and reviewed most of them. Considering the numbers of volumes, I’ll only give you the link of the previous one I’ve reviewed, Conquer the Darkness: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Between Conquer the Darkness and Shades of Darkness, the author has published a novella titled Sacrifice of Darkness that I’ve read (and loved) but not reviewed.

I ended my review for Conquer the Darkness with « What’s more, I still don’t know if the author is planning a sequel to her story, but here we have some sort of closure for the arc with the intervention of previous characters that I let you discover. Let’s say that if she stops here it wouldn’t be a surprise. If she goes on, I don’t know what awaits us. »
Well I had my answer when I read the plot for Shades of Darkness. Of course I immediately wanted to read it.
I confirm the previous arc is finished, however some interrogations bring our heroes’ intervention in the mermaids’ world and a new adventure full of unexpected events waits for them.

Shades of Darkness features Chaaya and Basq.
We met Chaaya in the previous volume because she had an important part as a diabolical entity’s guardian. She’s been released of her burden and she’s discovering the contemporary period and its entertainment. Her two favorite activities: causing brawls between demons and provoking Basq who is too much reserved in her eyes. Indeed, he is reserved with quite a cold manner. His current mission is to look after Chaaya to prevent her from causing too much damage, which doesn’t really please him at the beginning.
In spite of their opposite personalities, our heroes complete each other especially through their strength and their power. Each looks after the other and each respects the other’s decisions and support. It’s an aspect of the novel I really appreciated.
There are not many love scenes, but we don’t doubt for a minute their feelings and we believe in their HEA.

Amid the secondary characters, we have Brigette, the shapeshifter who didn’t have a very likeable part on the previous volume and hasn’t changed much here. I’m really not fan of this character and for once, I’m not sure I’ll read her story expected in May 2021 in the novella Darkness Betrayed.
We also have Levet who is more than ever present as The knight in shining armor; Inga, half-ogress half-mermaid now Queen of the oceans and who has feelings for our Levet; Troy, Prince of the Imps, who has decided to take Inga under his wing.
Many other characters appearing through the series are mentioned here but I won’t list them all and I’ll let the readers (re)discover them.
At this point, it’s necessary to have followed the series from the start, which is my case.

To conclude, I had a super time with Shades of Darkness and as always I recommend this book.

I love this series, and was very excited when I found they were doing another book. When I looked back, I’ve realised I’ve missed a few books, so after this one I need to go back .....
Chaaya was a sacrifice to keep a great evil contained. But now she’s just human, well that’s not quite true, yes she can fight like an Amazon warrior, but she’s more than that. And as we read, we find out more and more.
Basq is a warrior not a babysitter!
But Basq is hiding something, his feelings for Chaaya, at first it was annoyance at being her babysitter, but keeping an eye on her has given him a chance to see her, the warrior, woman. And now he’s fighting crazy feelings that just won’t quit!
The evil they thought they had contained may be loose again! So Basq and Chaaya are sent out to investigate. And are soon up to their necks in portals and trouble.
And we have my favourite gargoyle crashing through the book. His grasp on the English language is still as bad. His ego is still large and intact. He is the comic relief we need when things get to heavy. He always manages to annoy the males, and he makes the females love him (like a puppy)
Chaaya and Basq are great, I liked the banter these had with each other and other characters. I get the feeling Chaaya has been a pawn for a long time, and now she needs to strike out. She’s so funny, her wit is quick and her tongue sharp! Making the most of life after the hell she lived previously.
Basq is a vampire with troubles, (like all the previous vampires in this series) there is a lot to his backstory that had me wanting to go back and read the previous couple of books. (Characters usually show up in a few books before that get their story)
You can read this book without reading the others, but there a thread that connects each book, so although you don’t miss too much, it did feel like I was missing somethings!
A book I’d highly recommend, in fact the whole series is worth a look.

This was my first book by Ms. Ivy. I’ll admit that I like PNR/fantasy romance, but it isn’t my main happy place. I prefer my PNR/fantasy romance to be heavier on the romance than the paranormal part and in this story, that was flipped. The paranormal/fantasy elements were so strong I, at times, wasn’t sure I was reading a romance, but rather an urban fantasy. Which, there’s no hate there. I’ve read and enjoyed some select urban fantasy before so I don’t hate the genre, however when I go into a book that’s being presented to me as a romance, I want to see that as the primary focus.

One thing many PNR’s and urban fantasy (I’m going to include UF as a basis for my review as that feels like a more accurate genre label for this book) stories have in common that drives me a little crazy and really impedes my ability to embrace these genres are the names. Good. Heavens. Helen. The off the wall, hard to pronounce names seem to be a requisite for the genre but they are a stumbling block for this particular reader.

The story was solid, detailed, and the writing was exceptionally well done. For lovers of PNR/urban fantasy I could easily recommend this and see this story and Ms. Ivy being huge hits.

I’m giving this story a 4 star rating rather than the 3 star I initially was inclined to give because I think most of my dislikes were a personal taste thing and more reflective that I shouldn’t have chosen a story in this genre than any shortcomings in the book itself.

I’m always looking for a new paranormal romance series—now more than ever 🙄—so I was really looking forward to picking up Alexandra Ivy’s Shades of Darkness.

The first book I’ve read in the Guardians of Eternity series, SoD features a troublemaking maybe-ghost heroine named Chaaya who thrives on stirring things up & a starchy, so-called “nice guy” vampire named Basq who’s drawn to her. Even if he hasn’t admitted it.

When Chaaya & Basq take off on a dimension-hopping trip together to track down an “evil were” he gets his chance.

Though this was my first foray into the series I didn’t have a lot of problems picking things up. Ivy does a great job of introducing us to the world without dumping a lot of info on an unsuspecting reader.

Filled with a sense of the absurd, fun & detailed world-building, & some steam, Shades of Darkness is an enjoyable escape.

But I feel like the romance between leads isn’t strongly developed. It seems to move pretty quickly once it gets started & I didn’t have a keen sense of why the leads love each other/how they fell in love.

Maybe it’s just me, but I wanted to see more of Basq perhaps delighting/or even just responding positively to Chaaya’s troublemaking ways because they’re presented as such a big part of her & seem pretty antithetical to how he acts.

To sum up, I enjoyed the romance but I wasn’t entirely convinced by it.

Still, this is an entertaining PNR & I’m glad I gave it a shot!

3⭐️. Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.

I don't know how Alexandra Ivy keeps managing to find such good sexy heroes who aren't just just well rounded & balanced characters but match perfectly with her heroines in such a way as that you don't mind quite so much that you can't keep him for yourself since you know he's going to be HEA with her. Basq was a little slower warm up but Chaaya's slightly prickly personality steadily poked holes in his outer shell and revealed his personality and depth while he softened the edges of some of her sharper points. There is plenty of action and interesting world building/characters (all done without overwhelming the story) to keep you turning to turn the pages as 3 different adventures/intrigues entwine. Favorite gargoyle sidekick Levet plays an important part though his slightly more serious side is on display, there is a nice touch of humor throughout the book. if there was one complaint (and a mild one at that) it would be that while the Inga/mermaid intrigue was interesting it felt a little distracting from the main story line involved in the other 2 adventures. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this installment in the series and am looking forward to who may be next.

I admit, I jump in and out of this series, so I'm not the best example of a hardcore reader in the Guardians of Eternity world, but this book was a fun read. The size made it feel more like a novella than a full length novel, but that could just be because the pages flew by!

Chaaya is a trouble maker. Maybe literally? She's free from her prison but can't seem to escape a certain brooding vampire (see what I did there?). Basq is a brooder by nature, but his task of following Chaaya has become something of an obsession, in a totally non-creepy way. Bear with me here, but the ogre-queen of the mermaid nation ends up having her imp associate call on Chaaya to check out some mysterious happenings with a werewolf in her dungeons. Did we cover enough supernatural species yet?

This, of course, goes all wrong, throwing Chaaya and Basq into trouble, involving their gargoyle "friend," too. Lots of twists and turns ensue, ultimately ending with sexy times and some reveals (of the not-as-sexy nature) along the way. Overall, I think this might even be able to be consumed as a standalone, but my previous experience in the world helped me dive in seamlessly.

Interdimensional Manhunt + Romance

After being sacrificed by her mother and having escaped the infamous Beast, Chaaya is done playing by other people's rules. She's powerful, practically immortal, and won't take direction from anyone. But Chaaya's help is needed to find an escaped prisoner, and Basq, a broody vampire, isn't about to let her go alone. The two set off together, traveling through time warps, meeting new creatures, and building enough chemistry to keep the pages turning. Though I would have liked a bit more of a connection on Chaaya's part, once the two get together, her true nature comes out and she is a badass.

I jumped into this series without having read the previous books, but let me tell you - it didn't matter. I quickly was able to figure out the connections and relationships between the characters just with Alexandra Ivy's descriptions. Overall, this read kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see who, what, and where Ivy was going show me next.
Thank you, Netgalley for the advanced copy!

I love this series and really you cant go wrong. Like anything some are better than others, but I enjoyed this one. You have weres, imps, vampires, demons, dijin, druids, I mean really, how can you go wrong? I enjoyed Chaaya. Was she responsible? No. You try living in hell for centuries protecting the world and then tell me how you would give a care when finely free, Wouldn't you want to live? Basq seemed remote, but then when you read the blurb, he intentionally doesn't feel I am good with the the romance and mayhem. It was great to see Greta again, and of course Levet made me chuckle. This is a well rounded paranormal romance that can be read as a stand a lone but is enhanced ten times over if you read from book 1. If you love to read, its a win-win. 16 books of romance, paranormal, alphas, and smart women, Yes! Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and Alexandra Ivy for providing me this arc and taking me on an enjoyable ride. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

Shades of Darkness is the sixteenth book in Alexandra Ivy’s exciting Guardians of Eternity series which features a multitude of paranormal creatures including Vampires, Demons, Fae, Mermaids, Weres, Imps, Djinn and our very favourite Gargoyle, Levet. The title of this story is definitely apt, as the character portrayals are troubled and dangerous; but I had mixed feelings about the overall story as I struggled to warm to Chaaya and her penchant for chaos and her lack of remorse for the consequences of her actions. Basq is a stoic and remote character, which in and of itself is not unusual for Ms Ivy’s often broody Vamps, but the main issue was we didn’t get enough to fully understand his persona, as the story focused more on Chaaya. As with some of the stories in this series, Levet is the saving grace and his participation is always entertaining and comical. I was a little disappointed with the very brief mention of Briggette and the abruptness of this part of the story. Overall, a good book, but not my favourite by any means.

There is not much new that I can say about the sixteenth Guardians of Eternity, Shades of Darkness that I haven’t already said. Alexandra Ivy has kept this long running series interesting with remarkable characters. Often the characters are self-sacrificing for the good of the many which is the case for Chaaya. Now this girl just wants to have fun. I could hear that song playing in the background of my mind as I read. She not only wants it, but she also deserves it too. Basq seems to take all the joy out of her escapades trying to keep her safe. But perhaps he protests to much that he is only her bodyguard.

Funny but also intense. Emotional but not heavy handed either. Chaaya needs to learn to think before she acts while Basq tends to think to much. A romance made. Take your mind off of the world’s problems while enjoying Basq’s and Chaaya’s story. Fully entertaining.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chaaya sacrificed her life and her spirit continued to protect people from evil for hundreds of years. Now, free with a corporal form and unknown powers, she and her unwitting vampire bodyguard, Basq, must once again stop evil from pervading the world.

I had a hard time getting into this book. It was slow and failed to hold by attention. There was little chemistry between Chaaya and Basq, and I felt their romance was somewhat forced. They just didn't seem to mesh together. Also, I felt there were too many character point of views. I wish I had seen things from just Chaaya's and Basq's point of view instead of all the flashes back and forth between at least four different characters. All the different point of views made the book seem disjointed at times.

I enjoy Alexander Ivy's books and will continue to read other additions from her, but this book just didn't do it for me.

I love Alexandra Ivy Romantic Suspense series. I have tried a few of her Supernatural\Paranormal suspense series and found each one is completely different from each other even though its the same author.

Chaaya isn't as likeable as her other characters you will meet in this book. She is trying to be carefree after protecting everyone aad her one stop is straight to Las Vegas. I struggled with this character because she went from protecting to not caring what happened to things around her. She just wants to live for the first time.

Every supernatural character comes out in this book after all its Las Vegas.

The story works with the Alpha Male that decides to protect the woman he wants.

3.75 Hearts This is the 16th in the series and by now you would think the stories would be getting old… but nope! This is Alexandra Ivy and that woman can write a book that leaves you wanting more as soon as you close the book.

We now have Chaaya and Basq’s story. I loved the relationship they have. Chaaya is strong but sad. Basq is a diamond in the rough. And somehow they are perfect for each other.

Ivy is easily one of the best in the genre. I have enjoyed every single story Ivy has written and wait impatient for the next one. I would suggest reading the whole series but it can be read as a stand alone but you will not have the whole experience as you should.

Another great story!!!

I have really mixed feelings about this book which is why this is only getting 3 stars, and that's honestly being a bit generous. The story itself was nice and I enjoyed it, but every time something exciting started to happen you'd suddenly be in another POV of a character somewhere else. It was jarring to go from Chaaya to Troy to Bridgette to Inga to Basq to Levet and so on. There was too much happening with the POV switching and not enough happening with the actual story and because of that, it made the book feel like it kind of just suddenly ended. The ending itself honestly seemed too easy, just wrapped up in a nice neat pretty bow, nothing really built to it, it was just there and "perfect".

I love this series and will keep reading it until there are no more books in it, but this one was a disappointment.

I was so gleeful when I seen this one since I think I have read all the ones before this. There are just some authors in the paranormal that I have been reading for a minute so when a new one is available it gets snapped up. Slipping into this world again is like entering a old friend. Chaaya is a character that is interesting because you do not come across alot such as her. And to think she has a body guard that cause us readers to salivate especially those silent types lol. Basq is sure to have a battle of a different kind with this one that the entertainment is delightful to witness. There is also danger afoot so that ramps everything up. Oh and my lovely Levet is here again, I did miss him so. Some other characters catch our attention also with them having us go what if? Anyways over to soon for me but wait I will for the next one.

I received this book via NetGalley and have agreed to leave an honest opinion,

I am a fan of the author and have read many of her "Darkness" series and loved them but this one I just could not wrap my head around, I just didn't really care for the story and I wanted more...

I wanted to see more of Chaaya and Basq's developing relationship for sure. Anytime you have an alpha male, and a vampire at that, it is always interesting to see how they handle a new relationship.

I did like it much better toward the end because all of the storylines were coming to fruition but otherwise I just didn't "feel" a real connection.

It was great seeing Levet again though, the little sweet souled, zany gargoyle.

Chaaya was sacrificed to keep evil from killing everything. Now she’s living her life in Vegas and causing as much trouble as possible. When an enemy, Brigette, that Chaaya caught, escapes the dungeons of the mer-people, it’s up to Chaaya to catch her. But she won’t be alone. Basq is a vampire who has the misfortunate job of keeping an eye on Chaaya. As they are forced through one portal after another looking for Brigette, several things become clear and questions are answered.

Good story but too many main characters. I liked Chaaya because she was a strong, independent, funny woman. Basq is a loyal vampire that wasn’t afraid to needing help. Ogres, werewolves, vampires, and many more paranormal creatures.

Interesting read

This was an interesting read. Yes I gave it 3* because it was good, however some questions here. So Bridget ends up with a medallion that's supposed to grant one wish. Got that. Levet talks her out of restoring her village and she uses it to send him to Inga, so how did Chaaya and Basq get back to Vegas, and what happened to Jord and Riza. To many unanswered questions. Overall the read was good. It kept you on the edge of your seat. I'm hoping we get answers in the other books but somehow I doubt it. So disappointing if we don't. But on a brighter note, we did have Levet and all his wisdom.
