I love this HEA romance story. It reads almost like a Cinderella story. It has the romance. It has the mean family members. It also has the hero and the fairy God Mother. This is a romantic story to read by the fire place to enjoy. The story is easy to read and it will keep the reader entertained. I reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy

I just can't get enough of Tammy Andresen's books!! This is another story that will go straight to your heart. We met Clarissa and Mason in the previous book of the series and I couldn't wait to read their story!!

Both Clarissa and Mason had fathers who told them they were worthless human beings and growing up believing that, both did things they were not proud of....Clarissa's thieving to survive and Mason's lack of caring if he lived or died. After almost being fatally wounded when he was 21, he wakes up to a young Clarissa comforting him and tending to his wounds. Seeing how she's treated by the priest whose church basement he's in, he vows to make something of himself so that he can help her get away from such abuse and poverty. Now, years later, he meets up with her again and not only does he fall in love with her, he plans on making sure she'll never want for anything ever again. Clarissa is stubborn, though, and fears should he learn of her secrets, he will want nothing to do with her. Danger is all around but love will make it easier if they work together.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Turning tragedy into triumph, the main characters in this book know the worst and the best about each other. Mason and Clarissa first met in the crypt of a church when she tended his wounds after a serious battle wound. They didn't think he would live, but her gentle hands and soft voice pulled him through. Despite his condition at the time, Mason understood enough of what was going on around him to seek out justice for those who were victims at the hand of an abuser and he sets in motion the first stage of his plan once he gains his health. The next is finding the angel that tended him in his darkest moments. Coming upon Clarissa at a wedding is the last place that he thought he would find her, but he will gladly make a fool of himself if it means that he can reach out to her. However, Clarissa's enemy has already done severe damage and he is showing no sign of letting up. It takes all of Mason's negotiating skills to win her over. This Regency romance is heart-warming with a thread of suspense running through it, keeping the reader's interest throughout. Although part of a series and characters from previous books appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

TAMMY ANDRESEN NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME!! Earl of Baxter is part of the Lords of Scandal series and what a great read. It starts out very sad but boy does it pick up and it cracked me up. There is a carriage scene that made me laugh out loud. I don’t want to give it away so will will just have to read it for yourself. Tammy writes the most delightful story and each gives you the true regency feeling. Her stories are easy to read and oh so original. Tammy never disappoints. This story has a wounded solider, an angel, a caring child, a gentle touch, horrible fathers, good friends, orphans, wanting to give, a secret past, not caring if they live or die, shame, searching for someone for 6 years and love. It has it all and I highly recommend this book. It truly was one of Tammy’s greatest writings and stories.

We met both Mason & Clarissa in the previous book & it wasn’t a good meeting. Here we start with how they first met & this forms the backdrop to the story & what a lovely story it is. Another very well written book with strong characters. I loved both Mason & Clarissa who both had self esteem issues & I loved how they came together to solve their problems & find happiness. Another delightful feature of this book is that it’s also linked to the next round of Wicked Earl books. Another page turning enthralling read which I devoured in an afternoon

A wounded soldier, ready to die. A twelve year old girl, coming to his aid while trying to not be beaten. The start of the journey.

After six years he had finally found her. Mason knew it was her and she had grown into a beautiful woman. Now he could help her as she did him.

Clarissa had been that young girl, but now she was helping take care of the orphans and she did not want to admit her past. What she had done to survive. He was an Earl now.. how did that happen?

A heartfelt story delivered in classic amazing Tammy Andresen style that always speaks to my heart!

Earl Of Baxter is a fantastic historical romance by Tammy Andresen. Ms. Andresen has delivered a book that is well-written, fast-paced and full of amazing characters. Mason and Clarissa first met when she was a child, caring for him in a church basement after he was injured in battle. Mason has searched for her since then. Clarissa and Mason's story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Earl Of Baxter is book 8 of the Lords of Scandal Series and also part of the Wicked Earl's Club Series but it can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This was a good addition to the Lords of Scandal series, but it didn't have quite enough character development for me. I wanted more backstory on both Mason and Clarissa. It is my favorite of the series so far, though, because I liked both Mason and Clarissa a great deal. They were not nearly as flawed as many of the other couples in the previous books. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

Clarissa was likable, and it was sad that she believed what her father had told her -- that it was her fault when bad things happened to the people around her. I was glad when Mason convinced her that wasn't true..

Mason was also likable, and seemed like such a good man. Even though he had been terribly abused by his father, who had convinced him his life was worthless -- he still did everything he could to help Clarissa after he met her as a child. Then when he found her again years later, he soon realized that she would always be the love of his life. He was willing to do anything for her, even risk his own life to secure her future.

I did think their age difference was a bit creepy, since she was only 18. But it was common in that time period for women to marry older men. Many women, in fact, were forced by their families to marry men old enough to be their father or grandfather.

Other reviewers have mentioned that this entire series has lots of historical errors, and that the couples' behavior and language often doesn't fit the rigid cultural requirements of that time period. That is true, but I don't really mind in this case -- since I am reading the series merely for entertainment. If I were looking for historical accuracy, I would read a classic author like Jane Austen.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Earl of Baxter
(Lords of Scandal #8)
Written by: Tammy Andresen

A wounded solider who still so young at twenty-one would prefer to die than go on living. He knows his worth, not much, his father told him enough times that when he went off to war that was his intention. Sure he was dying, it only made sense that a beautiful angel would come and talk to him, sooth his fever with cold clothes and talk to him. He had no idea angels made repeat visits, mind you the angel twelve year old Clarissa was actually making sure he would not die. Then one day his angel was gone, he was close to total recovery and Mason made himself a promise. He would find his angel and take care of her for the rest of her life.

Six years goes by and Mason has been made an Earl because of his heroics during his time at war. He has also discovered his half-brother (Bash) the Duke of Devonhall, who had become very close to Mason. He knew about him looking for this girl, but never knew how serious he was about finding her until the day they both attended the wedding of the Earl of Goldwaite, that was the day Mason found his Clarissa. She was living with Goldwaite and his bride. She was safe, she was beautiful and now he could fulfill his promise to himself.

As Mason well knows, when someone has reminded you day after day how useless you are to them and are even willing to leave you a young child alone in the world unprotected, no home and no food, you do things just to eat, to sleep to survive. Those are the things that haunt Clarissa.

Tammy Andresen has again given readers a story where our couple, Mason and Clarissa have many hurdles to overcome. Trust being the main one, but she allows them to slowly get to know each other and come to understanding of what their lives had been before and what they can be now. While all this is going on, there is a threat that Clarissa is afraid to share with anyone. Can Mason, Bash and Gold find and remove the threat that will give Clarissa the peace of mind she needs to Say Yes to the Earl.

Another wonderful short but fulfilling Regency Romance read from Tammy Andresen.

This was another very entertaining book in the Lords of Scandals Series with a wonderful HEA, but it did pull at your heartstrings. We have me Mason & Clarissa in an earlier book in this series & I was so happy they both received happiness & their own story!

Mason & Clarissa had one thing in common - while growing up, their fathers both made sure to drill into them that they were useless, unloved & unwanted children. Clarissa was forced in to being a thief, to survive & Mason joined the military & was reckless with his life as he didn't care if he lived or died. When Mason was two & twenty, he was wounded, near death & taken to a church basement. Mason woke up to a young girl, Clarissa, speaking softly to him & caring for his wounds. She gave him the will to live & he did survive but never saw the girl again. Six years later, he happens to meet her again & the angelic twelve-year-old that saved him has become a beautiful eighteen-year-old beauty. Mason has become quite wealthy in the six years since he saw Clarissa & he needs to convince her to trust him with her secrets & to provide enough money that she will never face the abuse or poverty she suffered in the past. The one thing he didn't plan on was them falling in love & now, together they must fight off the danger that threatens Clarissa from her past. I highly recommend this book & Mason & Clarissa are just perfect to each other.

Tammy Andresen never disappoints! She writes awesome stories that a pack a punch.
This is Mason & Clarissa's story.
Six years ago, Mason had been a wounded soldier that was being tended to by a young, beautiful angel. She's the reason his still living. She disappeared and he made a vow to himself to find her and make sure she's taken care of.
Now after searching for her for six years, he's found his angel in the most unlikely of places. At his friends wedding. She's grown up and is even more beautiful as an adult. But she doesn't trust anyone. Not even her best friend who's been caring for her and other orphans. Mason is really wants to help her, if only she'd let him in.
Clarissa is as surprised to see Mason as he is to see her. She wants to run an orphanage and needs money to keep it running. Mason has the means but she doesn't think she can share her secret with him. She's been keeping this secret for years and knows she'll be in trouble if she shares it. She has an enemy after her. Can she share her secret with him and her friends? Will they really help her or turn away from her? Her friends encourage her to seek their help as well.
This is a sweet, heartwarming romance full of love, good-caring friends, orphans, terrible fathers, compassion, a secret past and intrigue that you won't want to miss out on.
This book was given to me as an ARC. This is my honest review.

This book is a very cleverly written story, it hits on two series that are running. First off, it’s in the Wicked Earls Club – a series that has many books with contributions from several authors and it hits on the Lords of Scandal series. In this book, we get the story of Mason and Clarissa. Mason is known as the Earl of Bastards, his title gifted to him from his brother Bash, a Duke. He is the result of an affair of his father’s, and was hated by him. When he goes off to war and is badly wounded, a young girl helps to nurse him back to health and he vows to find her one day and help her.

This book jumps in right after the happenings of the last book in the series, Earl of Gold. When Mason sees Clarissa at the wedding of Logan and Penny, he knows it’s the same girl who gave him a reason to live all those years ago. But both of these characters will need to heal from a childhood and maybe, just maybe they can heal each other.

This is a nice addition to both of the series, and the book moves along nicely. I was already invested before I picked up the book, as this is one of my favorite series from this author, but the book stands on its own as a good story and a great page turner.

Earl of Baxter, book 24 of the Wicked Earls' Club series and book 8 of the Lords of Scandal series, was about Mason an illegitimate son of the Duke of Devonhall (aka the Demon Duke), and Clarissa Hershel, a woman who helped tend to Mason when he was injured during the war. She had been 12 years old and Mason had been 21.
For six years, Mason had been searching for Clarissa, hoping to help her in any way he could. After finding her, he was determined to marry her in order to keep her safe. However, she was just as determined not to marry him because of her past...a past that reared its ugly head and threatened her very existence and all those around her that she cared about.
There was a ton of angst and drama in this story, but there was also chemistry, passion, friendship, and compassion. The humor was lacking, though. It really was needed to lighten the dark spots a bit, but unfortunately, it wasn't provided.
This book will join the others that are included in the Keeper for the Shelves collection.

Mason, Earl of Baxter meets Clarissa in a church basement while he is recovering from injuries during the war. She is the only thing that gets him through his recovery. After he leaves the church he swears to himself he will find her one day. Clarissa was only a child (12) when they meet. 6 years later they meet again. Clarissa has secrets she wants no one to know about. She isn't the saint everyone thinks she is. Mason can't forget about the beauty that haunts his dreams. She keeps pushing him away, he keeps trying to help her. This is the 8th book in a series. You don't have to read the other books in order to read this one, but the characters do overlap in other books and the whole series is great, so read them all! ;) I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

The story ended at 90% on my e-reader - so it is a short novella.

I liked both character's but somewhat disappointed in them as a couple. They met 6 years previously when he was injured as a soldier and she all but 12 years old taking care of him. He credits her for saving his life.

She feels she isn't worthy of his love because she believes herself to be not only cursed but did things to survive. She was only 12 years old and I applauded her for striving to survive.

I enjoyed the Earl of Gold more where we are introduced to this couple. There is lovemaking within marriage, heat level 2 out of 5 and only described once.

There are some villains who carried over from the previous story. This is a stand alone, but think if you read the Earl of Gold you'd enjoy this more.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and a tad of spice. (ljb)

Another winner from our author Tammy Andersen 👏👏

The story pulls at your heart and wraps itself there till you get to the end, real page turner, a quick read that has everything you would want in a book.

Mason and Clarissa story is not another fairy tale, it has heart and soul, from Mason not feeling good enough thanks to his fathers hatred of him for living and being illegitimate to his wanting to die in the war as no one cared for him, until he meets his angel who helps him recover and his half brother finding him and offering him love.

Clarissa is all alone in the world after her father kills himself yet before he does he showers her with his guilt, her only friend in the world is Penny who helped her get away from the evil priest.

Fabulous read, highly recommend as in all in this series

Six years ago, Mason was lying injured in the basement of a church, sure he would die. Two good things happened. A kind young girl tended his wound and cared for him and his brother found him and took him home. He has searched for the girl ever since, hoping to find and take care of her. He did not expect to find her all grown up and at a friend’s wedding.

This is a wonderful love story. Clarissa is the kind and caring girl Mason remembers. Mason is strong and protective; of Clarissa and the girls she and Penny care for. He is also rich enough to support the orphanage she wishes to open. The way to happy ever isn’t completely smooth. A bad penny turns up; Clarissa has secrets she believes will drive Mason away. A short sweet story that make you cry a little and smile a lot, what more could you want. I really enjoyed this one. Next, Mason’s brother, the Duke of Decadence.

Eighth book in the Lords of Scandal series. This one is Mason (Earl of Baxter) and Clarissa’s story. We met both of them in the previous book and we knew that they had some sort of history together. Apparently Clarissa had helped Mason heal from his war wounds years ago when she was a young girl and once he’d recovered Mason had been trying to find her ever since. Once they do meet again they rekindle their friendship which soon progresses quickly to love. Both have their pasts to deal with which doesn’t help. The book was good if again, rather short. I did think sometimes that Mason came across as a bit too obsessed with Clarissa, although she’d been dreaming of him too. Sweet story.

Clarissa and Mason had one major thing in common, their fathers made them feel like they were a blight on the earth and that they were worthless. I enjoyed reading this story. It is one of personal emotional struggle overcoming the guilt that constantly lived within their heart, mind and soul daily. I loved the way they met and how for six years Mason looked for her to repay her for the kindness she showed him when he was on death's door. A simple story of fighting for each other and finding their worth. A good read.

Earl of Baxter

Glad to see another Wicked Earls Club book added to series, even though it flows into another series. Tammy Andersen has written another good book that I enjoy. It was a surprise at first how naughty some of the ladies of this time era were. The gentlemen were really a wicked bunch of men but they weren't vicious just very naughty. I love how Ms Andersen has portrayed each of the characters and how she manages to take an idea and make it so very lifelike and so many stories. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and the spinoffs, an waiting impatiently for next book.

Parts of this book are a continuation of events that happened in Earl of Gold, so they're best read in order. I enjoyed this story. Mason and Clarissa both have daddy issues and don't think they're good enough, despite how hard they've fallen for each other. It takes a matter of life and death to finally realize their worth and find their happily ever after.

Danger lurks and two lost souls need to find a way to save each other. The author brings us back to the beginning when tragedy brought Clarissa and Mason together and their future was determined as fate stepped in. Many years later, when they meet again, Mason is an Earl and Clarissa is a young woman with a secret. This story pulls you in and gives you an emotional yet romantic story that has so much to offer. As with the rest of this series, you won’t be able to get enough of this couple.

FINDING HIS ANGEL
When he was wounded in the war and dying, Mason, the Earl of Baxter, he was saved by an angel. He has finally found the woman who saved his life six years ago. Now all he has to do is convince her to accept his proposal. Clarissa may be Mason's angel, but she has a past that's come back to haunt her. Someone is blackmailing her. Mason will do whatever it takes to save her. A sweet clean romance of two wounded souls who love and help each other to overcome their past.

Saving People

He was dying in the basement of a church, wounded from the war until he felt her wipe his brow and spoke to him.
