Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

So I took one for the team to see if this was a good book. Becuse some of sam books have been.. idk off with me.. so I rather spend the money and give a heads up to my book friends who dont have to spend tons. And to be honest I would have liked it if it didnt have certain parts. To me it still counts as emotional cheating since Pru did feel something when he told her. MY OPINION.

Enemies thats what Pru and Drake are.. high school she poor he rich he hates her she hates him. I stop reading after that Pru "friend" wanted Drake and during his party a truth or dare game between them Pru dared Drake to kiss her friend. He did.. already gag me. But what made me skip the rest and skimm to the end was reading Drake fked Pru "friend" at the party after Pru and Him had their kiss.. he even told her the next day..which got a reaction out of h. 😑

So already that's not a story I wanna read, so I skimmed the rest. Lots of push and pull between the two and drama because "shes poor" and trash as he calls her many times.. he rich... yeah.. after they got together they had to break up because his family would do something bad to her. So he was "fake" dating h not friend. and she made a good point.. he would be pissed if she went to school with some guy hanging off her arm. Allt of drama. Like lots of drama.. maybe it's highschool drama that annoyed me? But yeah.. atleast it didnt show him fucking the so called friend. So score for that.

Low angst, No om drama/ & Ow drama, emotional cheating, slight secondary chara, Drama, sexy times, virgin gal and manwhoreish he did brag.

Recommend- not really

This is the story of Prudence and Drake, who met in kindergarten when Pru was the new girl. Drake took an instant dislike to her and started bullying her -- physically and verbally. Because his parents were wealthy and feared, no one -- not fellow students, not teachers, not her parents -- stood up to Drake and his parents. He was allowed to abuse her and her friend without repercussion. The main story starts the summer before their senior year in high school after a prologue that illustrates various scenes of Drake's bullying over 12 years. Her only friend over those years is her best friend Sean, who befriended her on her first day of kindergarten and who himself was on the receiving end of Drake's wrath.

What seems to make Drake's hatred worse is Pru's courage in standing up to him. Though she's afraid, she rarely shows fear. She fights him when he attacks Sean. She fights him when he attacks her. All that changed their junior year when Pru realizes ignoring (or not reacting) to Drake takes the fun out of it for him. He can't stand it and wants the fighter back, but doesn't understand why.

Pru is drawn into a web with him when a newbie "friend" who desperately wants to be with the "in" crowd and has a crush on Drake wants to attend a party at his house. He's not interested in the friend, but uses her as a means to get to Pru. He uses his power threatening her friends to get Pru alone at the party. He takes things too far, but they wind up kissing. Now Drake can't get her out of his mind -- and he hates her for it. And thus begins their love ??? story.

Drake begins stalking Pru at work, shows up to her house, etc. They keep saying they don't belong together, that they're from different worlds and his parents will never let them be together, but they like making out and can't deny the pull they feel toward one another. They fight over their differences and over Sean, who Drake doesn't like at all. Regardless, they decide on a secret affair for as long as it can last.

Will Drake and Pru overcome their loathing of one another? What happens if/when family and friends find out? Will they fight for their HEA?

I had a hard time rating this. Reading the prologue, I was at 1 star (did not like it) and thought about setting it aside. I loved Pru and her bravery, but I don't like the abuse Drake dished out over the years. I didn't like it any better when Drake blackmailed her at his party and started stalking her. It only got better once Pru and Drake decided to try being a couple -- and better doesn't mean very good. I guess as I read the rest of the story that it went in between "it was okay" and "I liked it," ending with liking more than it being just okay (2.5 stars rolled up to 3).

I think part of my problem was that I was expecting the story to be similar to Crescent's Biker Bully, which also had a victim stand up to her bully -- and also an enemies-to-lovers story. I sort of expected the story to go beyond high school (it doesn't) and for Pru to be stronger (though she is very strong, I was thinking she'd be more like the heroine in that). Also, it reminds me a lot of another YA bully-to-lovers story I'd read last year (Nichole Noel's Tainted Love). I felt the same way about that one as I read it, liking it more as it went along.

And, part of my problem is that I never really took a liking to Drake. Though Pru winds up with him, I'm not sure I would have. Before their "romance," Drake was almost a sociopath. I'm not sure I would trust that an abuser who uses women/girls and tosses them aside and likes the power he wields would simply stop abusing because he can't get the heroine out of his mind.

One other negative... A thread is started and never really followed up on (see spoiler). Drake doesn't like Sean and lets Pru know it. He constantly tells her he's not a good guy. Pru thinks Drake is just jealous, but he tells her that he knows Sean wants her, regardless of her assertion that they are only friends.

Again... I have to admit I wound up liking it by the end. I don't know that I'd read it again, but it won't stop me from reading more by Ms. Crescent.

2.5 stars and a DNF roughly 30% in.

I struggle with third person storytelling at the best of times, so that unfortunately took away some of the enjoyment for me. I also struggled with the characters :(

Who knows - I may pick it up again at some point. But this was not that time.

Hero is a complete nightmare in the beginning. Even though he bullies and beats the shit out of heroine and her friend for years, she still falls for him... yayy!!
And the heroine seems to be a saintly cow ( coz she seems desperate to be nice).
And again with the hero that fucks anything that moves and the cliche virgin heroine. There's this part where she tell him.. "he could have done a lot worse to her, but chose not to (i mean verbally and physically abusing and making her strip is totally no big deal)", oh! How gracious. And the part where they kiss at his house party, after which he promptly fucks her friend ,informs her the next day ...and guess what ?! They end up kissing again. How romantic is it ?! And she decided itz okay to ditch her friend who stood with her for years, just coz she liked kissing her bully. How about that? The heroine is real piece of work. And she's quite selfish bitch. All in all okay okay.

Where do I start with this book? First of all by saying that I really liked it . I savour reading the pages of an enemies-to-lovers book. I really get a kick out of the tension and drama and the constant battle between characters.
Prudence moves to a new city and school when she is five years old. On her first day she makes a friend but also an enemy, Drake, who hates her from day one. The hate and bullying goes on over the years. Drake comes from a very powerful family and everyone is intimidated by them so no one can really do anything to stop him.

I struggled a bit with the violence and cruelty of Drake at age 5. Having a 5 year old daughter I find hard to imagine her or her little friends fighting and punching each other but I loved the 17/18 year old drama and romance, the transition from enemies to lovers and the obsession, then love that Drake develops for Pru.

So normally I love any book written by Sam Crescent but this book is a hard NO for me. I hated it , wouldn’t even finish it. It was soooooo far off anything she’s written and not in a good way either. For 4 chapters it was nothing but abuse from a little shit named Drake and I was honestly surprised I had made it that far bc seriously it was just pages and pages of bullying and abuse. (A trigger warning should be attached and I say this as a mental health professional who works with minors). Once I saw where the story was going I became uninterested and quite frankly pissed off. NO ONE in their right mind would even remotely become interested in anyone who bullied and abused them the way Drake did Pru. It’s not even remotely believable. I’ll just wait stick to the authors normal books cause this was a disappointment

I'm beginning to think the only reason I read Sam crescent's books are to trash it .

“What do you want to be when you grow up, Trash?”

“Richer than you.” It was a stupid answer. After her mother had found out Drake’s family owned half of the town, she’d been ordered not to make any waves. She wasn’t allowed to hurt Drake in any way. She knew it was because her parents were worried about losing their jobs. Drake’s parents owned the town. They worked for the Connors and her parents had told her plenty of times to avoid him. They couldn’t afford for Drake’s parents to fire them, or worse, push them out of town.

Seriously, though, how could she keep on doing this? It wasn’t fair.

His foot let up and she pulled her shoe behind the chair.

“Yeah, right. You’re never going to be richer than me. I own your ass, Stewart. You’ll always be beneath me.”

...I'm sorry this happened at five? THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE KIDS WERE FIVE? I'm calling BS.

And yes he sleeps with her 'so-called' friend after kissing her (as in Prudence). Then stays celibate the whole time they are in a relationship all while constantly telling her its unreasonable for her to expect him to go without having sex with someone else especially when she says she isn't ready to have sex, yes they somehow fall in love and yes they get married and stay married. I know, I was surprised too.

God I hate this book. I’m not even finished I’m 69% done with this book and the thought of trying to finish it outright depresses me.

I thought it was a novella, it’s not. It’s a hateful pointlessly long book, I have no problem with bully romances but this was just a slap in the face of humanity. The characters are thick as bricks, Prudence (what an awful name) is nice but stupidly nice and has no self respect, not a shred of it. Drake is a twit, an awful and useless twit.

Prue’s best friend Sean who has constantly stuck by her through the horrible bullying she has endured is painted as a villainous creep, just to make Drake look like a better option. And I still think I prefer Sean, so what does that tell you?

Half the book is just them going round in circles “we can’t be together it’s not going to work but no stay with me”. It is a very boring never-ending ride of awfulness. Save yourselves.

I had a hard time with this story. First the so called friend has no common sense. Like at all. Also for someone who is intelligent, she demonstrates that she is not. This is the female protagonist. And the bully well he needed to be beat the f*#k up. I really. The dude just demonstrates a constant need to be a manwhore manslut whatever you want to call it. Just not lady's man because it's obvious he is just a user.

This book would have been better if it hadn't been written like it was a novel by a 13 year old. It dragged on and on, no real substance. I enjoy a book that draws emotion, this one caused aggravation, I kept going thinking it's got to get better, no such luck. It just dragggsssss out and written very lazily.

This was monotonous. The same phrases were used over and over and over again. There were weird and awkward phrases. The two MCs seemed to go around in circles. A lot of what was said contradicted other things that were said. Honestly, this could have been 100 pages and still got the whole plot across. Boring and not worth the time it took to read.

I usually love Sam's books but for some reason, I couldn't connect very well with this one. I still gave it a 4 because I did love the story but Drake didn't grab me like her heroes normally do. The book was okay but definitely not my favorite.

Wow....... not sure why, but it all worked together and I LOVED it! A light but hella angsty read. Typical hs angst story BUT executed better than most imo. The story was paced well, not too much fluff detail, medium burn, no cliffhanger. A pleasant surprise tbh.

Often it wasn't clear for me how the bully really comes to love the bullied heroine.
In the end it is more clear. And the journey is very rocky for both characters.
It's something different. Not what I expected from Sam but still a good book!

Well, what can I say. It was a bully romance and I grabbed it knowing.
Still, If it were only by heroine’s POV, I think it would be more interesting.

The author almost always has good synopsis but actual delivery is meh. Writing is not a problem but the flow and characters’ consistency are.

2.5. I just couldn't get past how bad of a person he was to her and it just seemed like she gave into him so quickly. I didn't love this one, it's not awful though.

This book is full of emotions, from hurting her to loving her and then to losing her. He might have bullied her but the amount of love he developed for her is enough to rub off his sins
