Rosaura en Bicicleta (Bicycle for Rosaura) by Daniel Barbot, Illustrator -Morella Fuenmayor- Hindi language translation by Arvind Gupta- Children’s Illustrated Colour Picture Book- The book narrates the story of Senora Amelia resident of Venezuela. All spoke Spanish language. Amelia loved pet animals. She owned a dog, a cat, talking parrot, tortoise and two chickens Rosaura and Canary. Rosaura’s birthday was arriving soon. Amelia enquired from Rosaura what gift she would like for her birthday. Rosaura replied that she wishes to be gifted a bicycle so that she can drive to the shop & purchase bread and milk for Amelia. Amelia visited the cycle market but could not find a suitable cycle for Rosaura. One day a strange looking person was shouting on the road that he can repair knives, musical instruments etc. Amelia called and informed him that she wishes that he should construct a cycle for Rosaura. He measured the feet and wings of Rosaura. This will take one month time. After one month, he brought a cycle for Rosaura in a box tied with red ribbons. Rosaura and all family was happy with the gift. End- Author states that if you visit Venezuela, please beware of Rosaura on bicyle as there is no brake in this bicycle. Coloured illustrations help the reader to relate to the story. I have read the Hindi language translation of this book.

The story is very cute and entertaining, however, the small amounts of Spanish make some of the pronunciation difficult for lower level readers. The concept of a tinker is unfamiliar to most children and might need to be explained before reading the book.
