Granted, it’s been awhile since I read Tigerland, and it was a bit rough getting back into the groove of things. Rest assured though, that Simon is still his snarky, cynical self who is often his own worst enemy (he even knows this cold hard fact) but still can’t get out of his way, and thus plenty of shenanigans ensue.
This time around, Simon’s arch nemesis resurfaces in all the worst ways. Ever by his side is Declan, who really never does any wrong and is forever enduring Simon’s antics like only a saint can.
Overall, I liked revisiting these two but the conflicts presented in the form of said enemy and a troubled LGBT teen just wasn’t my thing, as it brought lots and lots of frustration and thus, less enjoyment. Also for me, the humor wasn’t as spot on as before, but I really enjoyed besties Fran and Roger, who were just lovely bringing their own special kind of crazy and neurotic.
Regardless, it’s heartwarming to see how Simon and Declan’s relationship has strengthened, how they do cherish one another and support the other through thick and thin, and in the end that’s what counts!

Shame on me for taking an almost 4 year break between reading book two and three in this wonderfully heart-warming and relatable Aussie M/M romance series!
In this third instalment, Melbourne lads Simon and Declan are back, along with all their friends and family. They’ve now been together for eight wonderful years and although gay marriage is at this point in time (2015) still not legal in Australia, Simon and Dec are happy and thriving, and hopeful for what the future will bring to their careers and their relationship.
At this point, Declan’s been retired from playing professional AFL for a while, now spending a lot of his time mentoring LGBT youth. One teen, an AFL hopeful named Micah, proves particularly challenging for both Declan and Simon alike. To make matters more complicated, Simon’s long time nemesis, Jasper Brunswick, is back in their lives in an unexpected and major way, causing all sorts of trouble and strife for our MCs and their friends.
The stories in this series have been effortlessly enjoyable for me. I've come to really adore Simon and Declan as characters and I love how strong they are now as a well-established couple. It helps that they have great support from their families and their closest friends — Fran and Roger, in particular, continue to entertain, demonstrating the best of friendship goals and couple goals the world over. Although I will admit the whole Coby situation annoyed me to no end. I’m an unforgiving sort and feel like his actions are those of a traitorous little shit, even if that’s not how it was meant to come across.
My favourite thing about this series is how personally relatable I find it. As a Melburnian, like these characters, I think my reading experience is boosted from the sheer familiarity of all the places and people in the story; even the sense of humour of the characters and their Aussie way of life is so effortlessly represented. It makes me realise how very few books I’ve read that are set locally, which is a shame because it’s always a pleasure to be able to identify with something so strongly and naturally.
This story definitely sucked me in and I’m now excited to see what comes next for this wonderful and charming Aussie book couple.

I love Simon and Dec! I had to start off by saying that. And it was so good to get another book about them since I thought Tigerland was going to be the last.
Tigers on the Run is the third book in the Tigers and Devils series. It was so nice to catch up with the characters again and I was so happy when I heard this book was coming out. Simon and Dec are one of the couples I will happily follow along for years and years if more books come out in this series.
Things between these two are good. They’re a lot more solid than they were in the first book. They still argue and still disagree, but now they’re more mature about it and they work through things a lot better… most of the time anyway.
For the most part I really loved this book. It felt so good to catch up with the characters and see how they were doing. But there was a part of it that really I could have done without. And that was the whole Jasper Brunswick stuff. That part of the book really didn’t work for me and I would have preferred it not to be in here. There’s so much history there, I just would have preferred if it had been left alone.
Saying that, it didn’t really take from my enjoyment of the book overall. I was still able to enjoy Simon and Dec’s relationship. And the Micah storyline was good. I also loved seeing how Fran and Roger and Lisa and Abe were doing. I love those guys and they add something to every book for me.
This book also touches on the fact gay marriage isn’t legal in Australia yet. It made me kind of sad because I would love a wedding for these two and I would love to actually see them get married. It was brought up a few times, which was nice and also sad, too.
The ending makes me think we’ll be getting more of these two in the future, which is great news. I would love more Simon and Dec and Fran and Roger and Lisa and Abe. And hopefully in the next book, we’ll be able to have a wedding.

We are now another two years or so forward after the second book. Simon Murray (32) and Declan ‘Dec’ Tyler (32) are still going strong; talk of marriage (though they have to wait until it's legal) and there's even talk of kids in the future. However, for now, they have news thrown at them, news that doesn't quite make Simon all that happy and there's also Micah Johnson (17), the first AFL player to be out at the beginning of his career, who Declan mentors. Micah is a troubled kid with lots of anger and makes the job hard on Declan who refuses to give up. However, that is putting a bit of a strain on his relationship with Simon who doesn't want to see his partner hurt. Can they get through this and come out stronger than ever?
Life continues throwing stuff your way.
You just have to make sure you’re there to catch it.
As far as the story goes, it was alright. Again, this series has a habit of not having lot of action. There's a whole lot of sarcasm, but not a whole lot of emotions. In this book, I really struggled with how accepting they were of the news of . That guy has put Simon through hell, and I didn't like how everybody looked at Simon as the bad guy just because he isn't that forgiving. Hell they hadn't even gotten an apology (not until the fucking end). And that shit annoyed me to the point of not wanting to continue to read. I'd never feel safe around that guys (), I would always be tense, and that's not a good thing. I really hope we don't get more of him if this series is continuing.
“There were lots of reasons I got drunk.” I offered him a fry, but he declined.

“I dunno. Hugging Jasper. The looming worldwide chocolate shortage. The disappearance of bees. The fact J. K. Rowling hasn’t written any more Harry Potter books.”

Simon is by far one of the most relatable characters I've ever read. I love his relationship with Dec, I love how much they grow over their series, and I love the side characters too.
Definitely one of my favourite series - there aren't many books that I re-read but this series will always be on my TBR

This was my favorite in the series until I read the 4th lol.
Simon’s voice is absolutely awesome. He’s snarky, prickly, sarcastic and so so witty and funny. I love him.
Loved Micah and hated Jasper Freaking Brunswick and Coby. Well, for a while at least.

This book is great fun for those of us who fell in love with Simon and Declan in the first book, and adored them in the second. In this book, it's eight years since Dec kissed Simon and started them on their path together, and they've built a solid life together. Dec has retired from the intense public crucible of professional sport and moved into broadcasting, and youth sports. Simon is also in televised production, with a new assistant and new problems. And he's still the same charmingly arty wanker - the same funny, literate, melodramatic, silly, loving, accident-prone and good-hearted narrator as ever.
They've done well balancing their lives, but more than one old nemesis is moving into the limelight, and turning attention their way again. On top of that, Micah, a young, out, gay 17-year-old player whom Dec is mentoring, is facing challenges at school and in the media. Micah responds as rationally and calmly as you would expect from an angry and hurt teenager. In other words, not at all.
Dec and Simon have to balance their own lives and career goals, the renewed scrutiny of reporters, lies and half-truths, and the responsibility they feel for Micah.
The most wonderful things about these books are the warm tone and the real, human, flawed but appealing characters the author creates. There is fun and joy and there is pain, there are moments I wanted to smack every single person in here, but their issues feel plausible and I sympathized through it all. The plots are good - interesting but not dramatic, the events workable, pushing the edges for humor, but never going beyond them. And the love between the MCs, and their friends and families, suffused the story with warmth. Warmly recommended for fans of the series.

Tigers on the Run is by far my most favorite Tigers & Devils installment for oh-so-many reasons! Here, Simon Murray and Declan Tyler are still stronger than ever on their eight years being together (Wow! I’m getting good at rhyming!). Simon was still adorably snarky, cynical and sarcastic – traits I loved most about his character. I laugh out loud and giggled so many times with all of his antics here. I just really loved this guy! Declan Tyler™ is still swoon-worthy and always the perfect boyfriend! These two are totally one of the loveliest couples in the genre.
The story was solid-proof that their magic's still there and I’m sure any fans of the series will enjoy it and won’t complain one bit about it. There are times that I feel that Simon was right about Declan taking everyone’s side except his side but yeah – I could relate more with Simon because I am a bit cynical at times, so at first I was totally on his side. I know this is getting weird but yeah Dec of course wanted the best for Simon, is all I’m saying but still…tsk.
I loved the angle about Coby! I thought he should’ve grovel more though. That traitor. I may have been hoping for a massive catfight but we all know that Simon is such a class act. LOL
“Didn’t Jesus forgive Judas? I like to think, in my own way, I am like Jesus.”
“Don’t forget,” I called after him. “Only one sugar. I’m sweet enough as it is.”
“Then we’ll make sure Jasper gets the poisoned chalice.”
Then we have little Micah Johnson and all of his shit. He’s just seventeen alright but he’s fucking annoying as hell! I still loved his part in the story though. It says more about Declan and Simon and the dynamic of their relationship. I’ve a feeling that we’ll be hearing more from him. A spin-off series Mr. Kennedy?
Now, now, now – that ending was exciting though. Am I right to assume that my boys will soon be shopping for cribs and little bassinettes? God, I hope so. I keep on hoping that they’ll have it by the end of the book but knowing Sean Kennedy – he’s surely a believer of happy endings but he just want to drag us all to that journey and that is totally cool with me so bring it!
What a fabulous follow-up and long overdue as it was – the wait was all worth it. It was just perfect! Thank you Mr. Kennedy!

This series just keeps getting better with each book! That ending was definitely left wide open for a 4th book. I want marriage! I want kids! I want it to here soon! LOL Fingers crossed for it all. =]

Romantic, funny, and emotional
The dialogue, the dialogue, the dialogue! Ok, I just had to get that out before I kinda burst and things got ugly.
Ahem.
Now then, to begin…
As soon as I started reading this, I had that feeling of “Oh, how I’ve missed Simon and his unique voice”, without even really knowing I’d been missing him. You know how that goes. He comes alive through Kennedy’s smooth, spot on writing, giving us a front row seat in Simon’s heart and mind, both by way of some of the best first person POV you’ll ever come across.
This is one of those books where you could highlight half of it and feel justified in wanting to share all of the silly, romantic, emotionally meaningful moments between all of these characters: Simon and Declan are strong in their relationship, sometimes sailing, sometimes struggling through their conflicts; the friendship between them and Fran & Roger is one of best portrayals of a group dynamic I’ve come across – their personalities and interactions with each other are incredibly consistent with the previous two books in this series (which I also loved! They were early M/M reads for me, too); the conflicts that still linger between them and Jasper – don’t even get me started! – get even more complicated, with some surprising twists; and the brief familial scenes pack a punch.
I give you Roger and Simon:
As I hugged him, he slapped my back in the manly way a couple of times. “You know, you’ve gotten way more touchy-feely over the years.” The slaps ended, and he hugged me tighter.
“Blame Dec,” I said.
“He does good work,” said Roger.
Before I get too far into this, I have to say that I liked the inclusion of issues like marriage equality and that it’s still a major struggle going on in Aussie land, that LGBTQ kids and teens have many obstacles and challenges and each deals with them in their own ways, and that even when one feels strongly about who they are, doubts can still creep in. Everyone faces uncertainty, even amongst those who love them unconditionally and show it. Forgiveness, the difficulty in forgetting people and events that caused hurt, friendship and what that means, and being surprised by one’s own maturing attitudes and behavior are all also examined through all of these fantastic, down-to-earth characters.
Listen, Simon is probably one of my favorite characters: the snark, the intelligence, the inability to get past some things without a long period of resistance, the ability to appreciate his friendships in real ways, and the humor. The humor! Kennedy is at his best in this book with the humor. In three sentences, he conveys something important about each of Simon and Dec, with the humor:
His warm hands slid under my T-shirt and pulled it up over my head. “That’s much better.”
It thrilled me a little when he threw it into the corner of the room and it landed clumsily. No laborious folding and having to be neat tonight!
The comment I made on my kindle was “That’s so Simon”, and it is. Love it.
Back to the friendships, Simon and Dec each have moments with some of their buds that are real, demonstrating how those bonds can help us through even the most difficult periods in our lives. One in particular, towards the end, occurs between Simon and Fran. It exemplifies the strength of their friendship, and their ability to read each other, not just about what might be happening, but how to go about helping them through the rough patch. On Dec’s side, his shines through the most in regards to Coby, or Cobes as he’s lovingly referred. He deserves all the caring and hugs, too, he’s a loyal one.
The mix of humor and drama feels just about right nearly the whole way through. I think this is aided by the shorter scenes that make up most of this book. Nothing is drawn out, yet we’re given so much detail that beautifully fills in every nook and cranny of this story about these relationships and how they enrich the lives of these characters.
All of this is also greatly portrayed through the *drum roll* dialogue! It’s some of the best. Truly.
Fran gave me the thumbs up. “Nice adult decision-making.”
“Don’t you have some babies to go and look after?”
“I don’t know how you put up with him,” Fran told Dec.
“Because he’s a good and loyal friend,” said Roger.
“You look really good without your shirt on,” I said. He deserved a compliment after that.
“I know,” he said with an entirely self-satisfied smile. “But thanks for saying so.” He looked at Fran. “It’s nice to hear that kind of thing every now and again.”
Fran shook her long-suffering head; Dec tried to hide his grin.
I love these people. Maybe it’s because they feel so… familiar. This is how my friends and I interact. How we treat each other. All of the history and caring and love come through in our quick wits, laden with sarcasm, and the zero hesitation we have in backing each other up and letting the hugs fly.
This thought of Simon’s pretty much sums it up:
Sometimes genuine emotion just puts you off where sarcasm puts you at ease.
I get it. I get that.
This book will be best appreciated and enjoyed if you read book one, Tigers and Devils, and book two, Tigerland, before reading this one.
Oh, and the ending allusion? Heh!! Now that would be something! Book 4, hmmm? ;)

As I hugged him, he slapped my back in the manly way a couple of times. “You know, you’ve gotten way more touchy-feely over the years.” The slaps ended, and he hugged me tighter.
“Blame Dec,” I said.
“He does good work,” said Roger.
Before I get too far into this, I have to say that I liked the inclusion of issues like marriage equality and that it’s still a major struggle going on in Aussie land, that LGBTQ kids and teens have many obstacles and challenges and each deals with them in their own ways, and that even when one feels strongly about who they are, doubts can still creep in. Everyone faces uncertainty, even amongst those who love them unconditionally and show it. Forgiveness, the difficulty in forgetting people and events that caused hurt, friendship and what that means, and being surprised by one’s own maturing attitudes and behavior are all also examined through all of these fantastic, down-to-earth characters.
Listen, Simon is probably one of my favorite characters: the snark, the intelligence, the inability to get past some things without a long period of resistance, the ability to appreciate his friendships in real ways, and the humor. The humor! Kennedy is at his best in this book with the humor. In three sentences, he conveys something important about each of Simon and Dec, with the humor:
His warm hands slid under my T-shirt and pulled it up over my head. “That’s much better.”
It thrilled me a little when he threw it into the corner of the room and it landed clumsily. No laborious folding and having to be neat tonight!
The comment I made on my kindle was “That’s so Simon”, and it is. Love it.
Back to the friendships, Simon and Dec each have moments with some of their buds that are real, demonstrating how those bonds can help us through even the most difficult periods in our lives. One in particular, towards the end, occurs between Simon and Fran. It exemplifies the strength of their friendship, and their ability to read each other, not just about what might be happening, but how to go about helping them through the rough patch. On Dec’s side, his shines through the most in regards to Coby, or Cobes as he’s lovingly referred. He deserves all the caring and hugs, too, he’s a loyal one.
The mix of humor and drama feels just about right nearly the whole way through. I think this is aided by the shorter scenes that make up most of this book. Nothing is drawn out, yet we’re given so much detail that beautifully fills in every nook and cranny of this story about these relationships and how they enrich the lives of these characters.
All of this is also greatly portrayed through the *drum roll* dialogue! It’s some of the best. Truly.
Fran gave me the thumbs up. “Nice adult decision-making.”
“Don’t you have some babies to go and look after?”
“I don’t know how you put up with him,” Fran told Dec.
“Because he’s a good and loyal friend,” said Roger.
“You look really good without your shirt on,” I said. He deserved a compliment after that.
“I know,” he said with an entirely self-satisfied smile. “But thanks for saying so.” He looked at Fran. “It’s nice to hear that kind of thing every now and again.”
Fran shook her long-suffering head; Dec tried to hide his grin.
I love these people. Maybe it’s because they feel so… familiar. This is how my friends and I interact. How we treat each other. All of the history and caring and love come through in our quick wits, laden with sarcasm, and the zero hesitation we have in backing each other up and letting the hugs fly.
This thought of Simon’s pretty much sums it up:
Sometimes genuine emotion just puts you off where sarcasm puts you at ease.
I get it. I get that.
This book will be best appreciated and enjoyed if you read book one, Tigers and Devils, and book two, Tigerland, before reading this one.
Oh, and the ending allusion? Heh!! Now that would be something! Book 4, hmmm? ;)

Simon and Declan are finally (finally!) back, stronger and more entertaining than ever. After a three year break, we’re finally holding a new adventure in our hands, a delightful, Aussie-flavored, heartfelt and family-oriented romance unlike anything I’ve ever read.
I’ve been asked on several occasions to choose my favorite gay romance couple, and it’s always been Simon and Dec (and also – just to be fair – Tony and Mac from Kaje Harper’s Life Lessons series). But the charm of these books lies with more than just its two protagonists. As a rule, Kennedy portrays realistic, believable, and above all warm characters.
Eight years after their relationship was forged under extreme pressure, Simon and Declan are still going strong. They’ve built an amazing life together, a life of tolerance, understanding, patience and genuine affection. They have an incredible circle of family and friends and they’ve even found ways to bring their very different careers much closer. Tigers on the Run offers a new peek into their very ordinary life, under somewhat unusual circumstances. Simon faces new drama with his old nemesis, and this time it comes just a bit too close to home. Declan is trying desperately to help a 17-year-old gay football player, but the kid isn’t making it easy at all. Their friends and family have changed and grown, but the love and support remains unchanged. Jumping back into this world truly feels like coming home.
With Simon and Declan in such a strong, committed relationship, one would think that this series has nothing left to give, but one would be very, very wrong. This is exactly the type of thing I want to read – a strong, loving couple facing difficulties together, living their life and overcoming obstacles just like the rest of us. When you add to that Simon’s propensity for drama and his highbrow sense of humor (he is, after all, my very favorite arty wanker), you get a series that will give you more than just characters to love – it will give you friends for life.
I have loved Simon Murray and Declan Tyler from my very first peek into their lives. What’s more, I’ve loved Roger and Fran, Abe and Lisa, and pretty much everyone else just as much. Luckily for me, Tigers on the Run left some possibilities wide open – I hope I’ll be seeing more of them, and soon.

My reaction upon hearing that Sean had written another book in the series!!! 5 'Thank God Sean's muse came back' stars....
I just LOVE and ADORE these guys and their friends. The humour, the banter, the silliness, the references to Kylie songs just keep on coming, and even though they really should be starting to act their age by now, they're just as daft as ever. I detest Jasper/Jon and cannot for the life of me understand what Coby sees in him, but there you go, they say love is blind 🥴😵😵💫😲.
Micah was a particularly toxic and troubled teenager, and well, I know they exist...I'm just glad mine wasn't one, phew!! As far as the engagement and possible wedding is concerned, HOORAY!! And it really isn't too difficult to work out what Nyssa's future holds .

This was another fab stop on the mad journey through these two utterly loveable men's lives, I could read about them forever because they are so real.

I totally forgot how much I loved Dec, Simon, Fran, and Roger! I mean, I could just sit in a room and listen to them have conversations for hours. They are brilliant...and by that I mean, Sean Kennedy is brilliant!
I loved the first two books in this series, but this one is my absolute FAVORITE! The dialogue between the characters is just so great I didn't want it to end. Simon is as priceless as ever and his feud with his nemesis is fantastic! There is nothing like a Jasper/Jon vs. Simon showdown.
Dec and Simon are so great together. They totally balance each other out. And you know what, I don't even care that there is no sex included in the story! Seriously folks, like I said, I could just sit in a room and listen to this dialogue ALL DAY LONG!
Funny, witty, charming, romantic....fabulous! With the way it ended I am HOPING there is another book to come! Please!

It was nice reading about Simon, Declan and the rest of the gang again. The whole book is as usual filled with humor, fun and all around craziness. THE only issue I have with this book is this whole business with A huge chunk of the book was about him! Probably about 60% of story. Im just so over him. He's so 2012!
Anyway, I really enjoyed this and I think there will be a book 4 and a wedding? There's a bit of mystery towards the end. Simon and Declan is one of my favorite MM couples and Im looking forward to reading more of them.

I know... I really like Simon and Declan. But their moments are the only one that lifts this book up. There's too much drama, too much bickering. New characters that are unlikable. Jasper turning nice but I kinda don't care. And I didn't see much improvement in the author's writing.

First thing first, I LOVE Simon and Declan. They have been part of my initial introduction to the MM romance genre -- at that time I felt RELIEF that apparently, there was something offered by M/M romance other than numerous and gratuitous sex scenes. I love Simon -- that sarcastic wanker -- and his beloved Declan -- must have patience level like a saint! -- along with their number of friends: Roger, Fran, Abe, Lisa, and Nyssa.
This is the third book after 2012's Tigerland. Simon and Declan has been together for six years; Simon is still working as film producer, Declan becomes a mentor as part of his charity GetOut ... and they are as solid as ever. Roger and Fran have twins, Abe and Lisa is still together (and definitely not looking forward to have kids of their own), and Nyssa has moved out to New Zealand.
I couldn't really explain the plot of the story. Yes, what it said in the blurb happened (the a thousand-kilometer round trip), but it didn't really appeared on page until about last several chapters of this book. Instead we saw Simon dealing with the fact that his friend slash assistant, Coby, was dating his #1 nemesis, Jasper Brunswick. We saw Simon and Declan trying to deal with difficult Micah. We had their our beloved couple thinking about progress in relationship such as marriage (unfortunately, the current Australian government policy is not in their favor) or kids.
Basically this was an UPDATE of the lives of Simon and Declan. And I couldn't feel more happier about that fact. Sure, it might be boring for those who are looking for something new and fresh. However, for me, it truly felt like being back with old friends after a couple of years and just listening to their news. There were arguments, some drinks and foods, but also love. It made me smile .... guess I don't have to worry about Simon and Declan making stupid decisions :). Well, Simon could, but he had a lot of supports to help him (haha!)
Simon's humor still shone throughout the book, even when he was being a wanker when it came to Jasper's relationship with Coby. That is always one of the strengths of the whole series, I think. His humor. At the same time, I also thought that Simon was maturing up. Remember, it had been six years since the first book, and he had been in a stable relationship all this time. The way that he handled Micah, for example, I thought it showed his maturity (well, at least in the end haha!).
I did have complains -- I wish that the one of conflicts doesn't evolve around Jasper Brunswick. Let's just say that he has been pretty much significant to the series since book #1 and I'm ready for a new nemesis, so to speak. I hope with Jasper hooking up with Coby means that we finally settle down the whole 'war' between Simon and Jasper.
The ending definitely opens a possibility of a new chapter in Simon and Declan's life. I'll patiently wait for that ...

Found this a frustrating read. Loved book one, thought book two was fan-service but welcomed a re-visit to the characters. This one, tarnished what came before.
It's awhile since I've read the series and the beginning left me confused over who some side characters were, if we'd met them previously, how much I was supposed to care about their antics.
The story is fast paced and very Simon. I liked Simon, still a wanker but he's grown up. He gave good advice and didn't pander to people. Saint Declan has lost his halo though, he's too perfect reasonable, noble; I got fed-up of hearing how wonderful he was when what was on page didn't entirely tally. There's a whole load of bickering in the book and Simon (as he states) is always in the wrong, always the dramatic one. Yet it's Declan who runs away. Declan makes bad decisions and gets forgiven in a moment, while anything Simon says is held against him.
Keeping secrets is not okay, it's thoroughly disrespectful to Simon and made me angry. Declan kept Cody's secret for months while Simon was worrying and talking to him about it! Big mark against the saintly one!
And Cody with his tantrums was annoying
Jasper, the circling got old. Somehow he was no longer the bad guy yet I don't feel we saw anything of Jon in there. Always felt there was more to him with the bravado a defence against Simon's attitude, but he wasn't allowed to grow in this book.
Nyssa, since when was she an oracle?
Simon's family are very different to their first appearances but years have supposedly passed.
For fans of the earlier books the tone is pure Simon. It's snappy and readable, but loaded with soap-opera bickering and for me disappointing. Also while I'd not go as far as labelling it a cliff-hanger the last lines are clearly a set-up for a further book.

I was kind of worried from the blurb that this was going to be more about Micah with only bits of Simon and Declan but thankfully I was wrong. This story picks up a bit later, the guys have been together 8 years now. The are stable and strong and as great together as always. This book is again told by Simon in his snarky way:
"......and those people will always be bitter fucking arseholes."
"Have you ever thought of becoming a life coach?"
"No, but maybe I could write kid's books."
"Yeah, Life Sucks, and Then it Sucks Some More by Simon Murray."
"It'll prepare them early."
Not a lot of angst here like in the first two books but that is good imo. I was glad to see a continued story that lets us revisit a couple we love without drama. The story moved along quickly, the gang was all there, there were some laugh out loud moments and some beautifully sweet moments between Simon and Declan. These two remain a favorite m/m couple for me. And yay for the ending. Looks like we're going to get more stories.

Lower in angst than #1 and #2, Tigers on the Run was a lovely, funny, reflective addition to one of my favorite series. I got to see Simon and Dec settled into a mature relationship and still enjoy Simon's antics and those of the friends and foes that surrounded the two of them. All my favorite secondary characters were back, a couple of new ones thrown in, and I got to watch Simon and Dec tackle a seemingly lifelong adversary. Simon is simply one of my most favorite literary characters.
The talk of wanting more than what is currently legal in Australia was ever so bittersweet. I shed tears for all the real-life Decs and Simons not only in that country, but around the world. The right to marry only became guaranteed here in the U.S. this year. It is my sincere hope that everyone around the world is someday granted the right to marry who they love. Well done, Sean.

You know, I just have to give a book 5 stars if it keeps a smile on my face practically the whole way through! I love Simon. He's neurotic, but so hilarious. And I love Simon and Dec together. I don't know what it is about their relationship that just pulls on my heartstrings. The secondary cast of characters are pretty brilliant and funny too. I especially adore Fran and Roger!
In this third Tigers book, the teenage boy that Dec is mentoring (Micah) and Simon's nemesis (Jasper) are each causing trouble for our boys. There's lots of drama (a lot of it Simon-induced) but nothing too angsty. It's mostly just another fun ride with a great cast of characters including one of my all-time favourite couples.
And - good news -- I'm pretty sure there was a set-up for book #4. Hopefully soon!

When I found out that there was going to be another book in the Tigers and Devils series, I was interested to see what else Sean Kennedy was going to gift his readers. I’ve enjoyed Dec and Simon immensely but TIGERS ON THE RUN has a different feel to it.
I’m not sure if it was my mood or whether or not the beginning was really slow but I felt like the set up took a long time. As usual, Kennedy infuses the book with plenty of idle banter and humor, which has been one of my favorite things about the books in the past. However, I felt like the purpose of the story wasn’t addressed as early enough as I would like.
Declan is mentoring a slightly troubled kid named Micah. New drama builds as an old nemesis reenters their lives and although Simon and Declan have been together for awhile now, it doesn’t mean everything is perfect between them. They have to overcome certain obstacles that will hopefully strengthen their relationship as they continue to grow.
Of course, along with Simon and Declan you also get Fran and all the other secondary characters who have made this series so awesome in the past. It’s nice to see what they have been up to and see what part they will play in the next chapter of Simon and Dec’s life.
While not my favorite in the series, TIGERS ON THE RUN offers a fun romp of a ride!

I am a fan of the series, Declan and Simon are one of the couples I really love so I am ecstatic by this really. I really wasn't expecting one since it's been ages since the last book. I guess it is safe to say that I am overjoyed! Haha.
It's nice to have a glimpse on their lives again and nice to see that Simon is so funny still! Seriously, there are only few books that can actually make me laugh, well, more like a chortle. lol.
Very enjoyable and the best therapy if you're stressed and you really love the series. Though a time or two, I might have strangle Micah. Seriously.

Tigers on the Run is the third novel in the saga about Simon and Declan. I wouldn’t recommend listening to or reading these books out of order as each book builds on the previous ones. By now Simon and Declan have been together for eight years, we’ve seen them through some ups and downs and how their relationship has matured and grown. As have the relationships of their friends.
Another nemesis from the past comes out of the woodworks in the most unexpected ways – at least for Simon. It causes upheaval and strain on more than one friendship, and causes more than a little drama. Personally much of the ensuing drama felt childish. I’m not saying there isn’t cause for the hurt feelings and animosity, but the way it was handled didn’t really reflect grown men. Then again, grown-ups don’t always act as grown-ups.
Another part of the story is Declan’s out-reach program, mentoring LGBTQ teens and trying to keep them out of trouble. One of the teenagers, a young and promising football player causes more trouble than the rest. Micha’s easy to unlike at first, but there’s so much hurt underneath the surface that you just wanted to help him out. Well, when you didn’t want to strangle him, he did have an uncanny knack for pushing buttons. I wouldn’t mind seeing him too happy and settled – not necessarily in a relationship, he is a teen after all, but settled in his life and who he is.
Dave Gillies once again did a great job narrating this story. I love his accent, it does so much to the sense of place of the story. I also love that he narrates with such enthusiasm, he really lives in the story and draws the listener in. He even goes that extra mile and sings a few lines instead of reading the lyrics. Small things like that enhances the experience and if nothing else, it will make you smile.
Sadly this is the last audiobook in the series and I can only hope the last book will make its way there soon – and that Gillies will narrate.

Eight years out. Simon Murray and Declan Tyler are a well-established couple, and their world has settled into a sort of normal.
This would be sort of, well, dull, if not for Sean Kennedy’s excellent handling of…banter. Yes, banter—the kind of daily back and forth, between Dec and Simon, between them and their friends Roger and Fran, and amongst all the folks who inhabit this particular vision of Melbourne, Australia.
There is a rather sit-com feeling to this book, and that’s not a criticism. Yes, we have the evil Jasper Brunswick back, doing his nefarious deeds; and we have the troublesome teenager, Micah Johnson, an involuntarily out star-to-be in the Aussie football (soccer) world (which, in Australia, is a HUGE thing).
There is adventure here, but it is small-time adventure; it is the trauma of trying to find happiness and build a life in a world where not everyone finds you acceptable, much less laudable.
For all the banal goings-on in this third of Sean Kennedy’s “Tigers” series, there is a profound sense of community and emotional peace. This is (wait for it) Jane Austen as transferred to modern-day Australia, starring urban gay men instead of genteel country folk.
Seriously, it’s a perfect analogy. The book is gentle, wryly comic, and startlingly realistic.
I have put “Tigers and Devils” back on my Kindle, because I want to reread it. I want to see who Simon and Declan were eight years ago—when they were in their twenties and Declan was still in the closet. “Tigers on the Run” won’t be as meaningful if you haven’t read the previous two books, but it’s a lovely read all on its own.
