Lacey and Tate's story is an intense emotional heart stopping broken love story……… This is just taste of what is to come in the next installment, I could only imagine what the next installment could be like. Since this one brought me to my knees!
Must say that after reading Hostile Fates, I Personally felt the need to read this series from the Beginning. I know I did not have to, but I just wanted to.
Oh, my goodness
Once I realize the direction this short read was going my heart almost broke.... the more that I read the more my heart went out to these two amazing characters... but fair warning this read has plenty of tragic and triggers, so please once again take that in mind if you decide to read it.... with that said I'll leave it to your imagination and discretion

Part of The Institute: A Dark Anthology, Hostile Illusions will take you into the Serenity Institute, where Dr Landon is the therapist of a young woman who suffers from amnesia.
I can't and certainly won't say more as you'll need to read for yourself and experience the India R. Adams beautiful writing.
Heart-wrenching, that short tale is not for the faint of heart. I cringed at the atrocities Lacey was subjected too. The striking realism of the scenes had my stomach in knots and my throat on fire from screaming. How not to feel the despair, the hopelessness of that girl? And then, then, in true India magical fashion, you find a spark of good, a bright little light in all that darkness. You cling to it, you want to believe that everything and anything is possible in all that unfairness and gory. I sought solace, reprieve. I let the poetic words draw, capsize and sink me into that viscerally gripping atmosphere of damaged souls....and I ended in tears.

I initially had the pleasure of reading this book when it was part of the anthology, The Institute. It was my favorite of the anthology, even though it was one of the saddest and heartbreaking of the book. Getting an epilogue now and insight of what is to come now that it is a single novella instead of part of a collection made me so happy, and it was EXACTLY what I needed.
This author never ceases to mesmerize me with her stories. Even stories that are dark or have darker elements (The Waters series) she still makes it poignant and beautiful when it shouldn’t be. This story was a great example of that. I loved the characters in this one. My heart hurt for them. It hurt what they had to endure but, moreover, it hurt that only had these moments to feel the gentle caress that love, and kindness offered.
BRAVO to this author on this one. It packed a lot into a little bit of space.

WOWOW!!! This story! I have no words!
It blows my mind how India R Adams is capable of eliciting such a strong emotional response from me in such a short story. Of being able to make me care and connect with the characters in such a small amount of words.
Adams is proving to be a force to be recognized and reckoned with in the industry. You do NOT want to miss this one!

My god.
India R. Adams has a way of writing dark that has my emotions plummeting downward to buckets of tears. I knew her writing prior to reading this prequel that her writing hits really hard topics.
After one horrific act of violence, Lacey suffered amnesia and ended up in a mental hospital.
No one claimed her and she was working with a doctor to help reclaim her memories.
Throughout her time there, she’d secretly meets a boy through her window.
It’s a beautiful relationship they have.
As memories slowly come back, she realizes she know this boy.....

Well, let me give you a piece of advice... India’s writing is so bewitching you’ll find yourself craving for more, you know those haunting creatures I told you about? Well, they will make you their captive and the scariest part is that you’ll never want to leave...

I read this originally in The Institute Anthology, at the time I wrote this about Lace and Tate's incredible story....
It was tragic, heartbreakingly sad and brutally violent, but beautiful how a soul deep love can grow in such darkness. I loved this story even though it reduced me to floods of tears, but it's made me want to read more by this author. My favourite of the anthology.
It has been re-released with a new epilogue and oh my word what an epilogue!! I cannot wait to read the very unexpected follow up, Hostile Vengeance! I know it's going to break my heart all over again, but I'm sure there will be beauty and redemption too and if the title is anything to go by, some much needed justice.

⚠️Trigger Warning, this is a dark book through and through. Involves explicit physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Suicide as well. So, CAUTION ⚠️
I just finished this book. I just read the whole thing in one sitting. Why did I do that?? I literally am about to cryyyyyyyyy!
India, what did you do to me girl! You said this is one of your dark books and you wasn’t lying.
This is a book that will make you feel a whole lot of feelings but each horrific thing that was written was written in a way that didn’t glorify it, but allowed these characters to love despite it.
No matter how you see it, this is a story about love, but don’t be naive and think this is all unicorns and rainbows either.
This writing style is so poetic and overall esthetically pleasing to my soul I just can’t. This writing style allows these characters to love through their torment, and to see them for who they could be. I’m just glad that the author did not glorify what was going on but showed their story and showcased their love for each other through their story.
5.0 star rating. PLEASE be prepared for all the triggers mentioned in the beginning of this book. This is dark, and it’s the darkest I’ve ever seen India go, but I’m proud of how it was done. Well done.
Oh and I will be reading the rest of the series once it’s released. I think I made it through the tough parts already.
I would say this book is new adult based on the age, but based on the content I would say this is a dark adult for the genre. I will put as new adult on my shelf for the age group but be advised of that.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful!
WOW! This story made my heart ache and my soul hurt! The story is dark, twisted, gut wrenching and powerful. The main character Vera is a very broken soul and I am not sure anyone can fix her. Her story from beginning to end blew me away with the emotional tornado it threw me into. I cried hard for Vera and wanted her hurt to end! This story may be short but it packs a punch to the gut like no other. Hostile Illusions is a powerful short story that I devoured quickly and finished by crying for Vera's soul!
India is the queen of heartbreak and darkness. Her words are very powerful in their meaning and in the imagery they project in our minds. All of her stories are a must read, this one included.

No words!! A must read!
I thought India couldn’t surprise me anymore but she did!! This story is amazing! I could not put it down! I can’t put in to words all my feelings while reading Hostile Ilusions!! India’s books always have me in an emotional rollercoaster and this story was not the exception! You will experience all kinds of emotions because it is an excelent story! It has you hooked since the first page!

I stayed up until nearly 1 am finishing because I could not put it down. I HAD to find out what was happening. The way this story is executed, the reader is just as confused as the heroine. It's superbly written and the slow unveiling of such a horrific - well, no spoilers. YOU MUST READ IT.

To say I am shocked at how a small prequel could pack such a huge gut punch, is an understatement. What did I just read? I am vibrating with anger! It's like this rage has life. I can't wait to read the next book Hostile Saint. I'm diving in now. Let's hope retribution is long, drawn out agony for those who deserve it.

So, I have seen the promo's for Hostile Saint and one of my book buddies was raving about India R. Adams so I was curious...I signed up for her newsletter and got this free little novella to read before Hostile Saint was released.
Let me tell you, it may be short, it may only have five chapters and an epilogue...but this story carries one heck of wallop. This book is dark, I mean, pushing pitch black kind of dark. And I like dark and I have read some messed up stuff but this... this broke my heart, made me hurt, caused me to cringe and several times I had to just take a breath.
I am not going to spoil anything, but I will tell you this...this book is full of hurt, pain, love, loss, more pain, and just pure evil. I have never wanted to go John Wick on a group of characters as I do right now. I will also say, I don’t get surprised often, but this book was full of surprises and twists that I NEVER SAW COMING! Bravo Ms. Adams… Bravo!
If you like to be pushed so far outside your comfort zone you can't even see your comfort zone anymore, you can handle violence, and want a love story that will crush your soul. Give this book a try! I am heading right into Hostile Saint so this has my recommendation!

I went into this book blind. I didn't even know this was an MC prequel until I opened the book.I went in not knowing anything about anything. The only thing I knew was that this author hadn't let me down yet and I was putting my trust in her words.
There's something beautiful about a book being able to physically drag an emotional response from you. I wasn't prepared going in. I wasn't prepared for how much this book was going to affect me. From the first chapter, the hair on my arms stood tall. I got CHILLS from the first chapter alone and I knew this was going to be different. It's also so good to see how far this author has come, there is succinct changes in her writing (for the better) and I am 100% here for it.

Hostile Illusions by India R Adams is a dark contemporary short story. This is the prequel to Steel Stallions MC series.
The book does come with a trigger warning "This book contains scenes that may be difficult to read. If you have triggers, please read with caution."
This is the first book of India's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I don't know what I was expecting when starting this book but I got a whole lot more..this book was heartbreaking and absolutely AMAZING! I would highly recommend readers to take the trigger warnings serious with this read.
I cannot wait to dive into the first book in the series Hostile Saint so I can get Lacey and Tate's story.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dark romances, psychological thrillers, or romantic suspense.
The book does come with a trigger warning "This book contains scenes that may be difficult to read. If you have triggers, please read with caution."
This is the first book of India's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I don't know what I was expecting when starting this book but I got a whole lot more..this book was heartbreaking and absolutely AMAZING! I would highly recommend readers to take the trigger warnings serious with this read.
I cannot wait to dive into the first book in the series Hostile Saint so I can get Lacey and Tate's story.

India strikes again.
Jesús, I really don’t know how many times I’ll let this author continue to torture me.
I have been reading most of her words for years now and each time she leaves me shooketh.
Look I can go on about the characters, about this story, about the meaning behind it, about the character growth and struggle. Heck I can go on about the turmoil and queasy stomach I had while reading this short novella. Which all happened by the way.
Bottom line, it’s something you need to experience on your own without details given. There are warnings in place to help you decide. So yeah this is your warning. But also, join our we love/hate India fan club. So happy reading.

This story is included in the book “ The Institute”. It is a story that has moved me, has turned my stomach, it has made feel fear for the MCs and left me wanting to read more.
Vera and Tate’s story is terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The different abuses that they suffered by the brothers makes their love story shine in a world surrounded by darkness. They are able to experience happiness and love in the middle of all their pain and misery.
And the end😭😭😭😭.
I’m dying to read more about this series and see what happens with the brothers.

This story will break your soul..Vera has a dark past and Tates her only light..With her memories slowly coming back get ready to reach for the tissues and let the tears come then check on your book buddies they are not ok...India does heartbreak and darkness so well I devoured this story in no time at all..The epilogue gives you hope but still kicks you right in feels I can't wait for this brand new series.

Broken souls deserve to heal . . . If you have any doubts than this is the book for you!
Its raw, disturbing, full of triggers and yet overflowing with emotion that scars the heart leaving you begging for love and happiness. I will never know how India magically weaves these stories with both pure evil and angelic qualities, but she does with complete flawlessness. This a novella is not to be missed, but be prepared to fall in to the twisty world of dark romance.

Powerful and Emotional!!!
This is a Novella and it holds more power and emotion than anything I have ever read! I have never wanted to put a story down in my life so bad and yet couldn't. Tate and Lacie demand to be told. Deserve to be heard. I cried and I hurt so much for these two. Adams ruined me and yet stole my devotion to her powerful writing with this Novella. She wrote to my heart and soul.

A fantastic prequel that sets up the start of a new series. It's well written with a great storyline. The revelations in this read will leave you on edge, needing and wanting more. It's dark, unravels a terrible and horrific past. This is the start to Tate and Lacey's beginning. I look forward to reading more of the series.

It’s short, but so powerful. Ms Adams doesn’t mince her words, wrap them up in shiny paper all tied up with pretty bows. When she writes emotions bleed from the pages, leaving you in a blubbery mess and with lasting impressions. Her characters are raw, with flaws that would have the average person falling into a heap. However, they have an immeasurable amount of strength, making them outshine all of the darkness. This prequel had me intrigued, guessing where it was going to take us and it promises that Hostile Saint is going to be one helluva book. 🖤
