This one hits home! It's a fact of life we are all getting older but for some of us it's more real than for others! Joyce's advice? "I firmly believe that we should enjoy all the years that God gives us."
I couldn't agree more! She recommends even the younger ones should begin to think about their latter years and to look forward to them!
Direct from her intro: "Before you read further, let me challenge you to ask yourself an important question: Will you simply let yourself 'get old' or will you age gracefully, purposefully, and wisely, allowing God to use you in every season of your life? If you will, I believe your latter years can be absolutely wonderful."
Highly recommend for all ages but especially for those late 50-somethings and older.

I really enjoyed this book! Joyce honestly opens up about her health struggles throughout the years and what she did to improve her stress levels and physical stamina. I had no idea that she was going through so many surgeries and back and feet issues....and I learned from her pages....to listen to my body and be ongoing in eating healthy, exercising and regular check-ups (Joyce caught her breast cancer early due to regular mammograms). I learned from this book not to be so busy and to find time to rest and relax, as she explained that working nonstop had caused stress-related health conditions in her body. Joyce also talks about staying positive in each transition in your life. You may not be able to do everything you once did as you age, but you can still do so much with the resources, time and health available to you. This book made me excited about the future and to celebrate every birthday as a true gift. I loved Chapter 14, where Joyce talks about how it's never too late to do something great, citing Vera Wang, Ray Kroc, Julia Child and others as finding their success later in life. This was a quick read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Definitely recommend!!!

How could I not review a book called “How to Age Without Getting Old”? I’m nearing my mid-50s, newly retired, just moved to the country where we’ve bought a large house and property, and I’m trying to find my place in this new world. I’ve found that I need to listen to those who’ve gone before me and learn from their experiences. And who better to listen to than Joyce Meyer?

Her newest book, “How to Age Without Getting Old”, is another one of her easy-to-read books that’s filled with incredible, Godly wisdom. Joyce uses her own experiences and health issues to help the reader see that there are, in fact, ways to age gracefully. First and foremost is to learn from others’ experiences. She explains that as she ages, she’s learning to understand that changes in what she does and how she does it is necessary thing. It really is ok to ask for help, allow others to take over what she used to do, and to listen to her body and to take more frequent breaks. She’s also more selective about the activities that she does, travels less than she used to, and has significantly decreased the number of conferences that she does every year.

A lot of Joyce’s advice is really common sense and starts with taking good care of our bodies. Things such as getting regular medical and dental care, exercise, drinking plenty of water, and eating foods that are good for our bodies. But we shouldn’t forget to keep healthy relationships with friends and family, laughing, getting rest, and keeping our brains sharp.

Of course, all of these changes are great and she explains that we need to learn how to discern God’s will for our life and to continue to grow our relationship with our Savior, who has the very best plans for His own.

You could easily sit down and read this book cover-to-cover in a few hours, but I strongly suggest that you read it chapter by chapter and take some time to reflect on what you’re taking in. Really work on incorporating Joyce’s experience so that you can personalize the information for your own life. This is a good book to read regularly for a while, just to help with the transition into each phase of aging.

I highly recommend “How to Age Without Getting Old” by Joyce Meyer and strongly suggest you get this book to help you to walk your way gently into each phase of aging.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of How to Age Without Getting Old by Joyce Meyer from the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Filled With Valuable Insights for Every Reader

Whether we want to admit it or nit, everyone is aging. Bestselling author Joyce Meyer in HOW TO AGE WITHOUT GETTING OLD gives insights to every reader.

Toward the end of this book, Meyer writes, “I am pleased when I realize that after all I have been through in my life, at seventy-eight years young I am sitting here writing this book, which will hopefully help you take better care of yourself than I did. I always say my greatest testimony is, “I’m still here.” I feel much better today than I did three years ago, and I continue to make progress all the time.” (Page 138)

In the pages of HOW TO AGE WITHOUT GETTING OLD, Meyer covers the gamut of issues from listening to your body to learning how to rest to staying strong spiritually. I enjoyed HOW TO AGE WITHOUT GETTING OLD and recommend it.

Like Joyce’s others books, How to age without getting old is practical, easy to read and full of common sense. While there’s not a lot of new or previously unknown information in the book, Joyce is innately encouraging as she shares her own experiences of aging. I enjoyed reading her perspective.

A lot of the material in the book centres around having the right attitude towards the physical, mental and emotional challenges that come our way as we get older. Often, we imagine, of all the people on the face of the earth, we’re somehow going to avoid these challenges but we won’t. It doesn’t matter how spiritually mature we become or how much faith we have, we still have to accept our own physical decline. Joyce encourages us to be kind to ourselves as we accept the physical limitations of aging and learn how to still enjoy life even when we aren’t able to do the things we once loved.

There are many things we can do that help but won’t eliminate the aging process such as healthy eating, drinking water, getting good sleep, exercise, connecting with family and friends and resting when we need to. Joyce shares about these from her own experiences.

Overall a helpful and encouraging read.

I hold J. Meyer in high esteem. Her book, Battlefield of the Mind, was one of the first so-called Christian books that I actually understood and could apply to my life. This work didn't completely apply to me because chapters were written for those who don't know how to say no and who are busy all the time. I am not and haven't been for a long time. However, that does not mean that I didn't learn from her practical words. That is what I liked most about her words here; she took her own life's struggles and applied practical suggestions. She obviously wants us to learn from her 'failures' for lack of a better word. I would never consider her a failure, but we all know that leaders in every field have struggles that many know nothing about simply because it is none of our business. Joyce opened herself up to reveal her many struggles and what is necessary to overcome or simply deal with daily. This book applies to anyone who wants to know how to make every year count. What I took from this was a sense of value in living mature years. My contributions are not over. I am in the throngs of a new season, and I found words here to encourage me to press on and to look to God for guidance in all things.

Joyce Meyer is such a blessing to me and to countless others! Reading this latest book from her truly blessed me as I am now in my early fifties. I’ve always felt young all of my life, but recent chronic pain issues and complications stemming from them have taken some of life’s joy away from me. Reading this has given me renewed strength, determination, and joy! I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in making every season of their life the very best it can possibly be. I am so thankful for Joyce Meyer and her ministry. ♥️

An excellent read. We shouldn't dread the aging process, it's just a part of life! This book is full of practical examples and steps that we can take to enjoy our aging process, no matter where we fall in our decade of life. Will be reading this book every birthday, LOL, to help me maintain a healthy aging perspective!

Not really sure how to rate this book.
I found some of it immensely helpful, especially the parts about the physical toll that stress brings on the body. Managing stress and adjusting lifestyles to improve health and peace as we age, are just the things I need to focus on in this season of my life.

It was strange hearing someone else narrate when you know the voice of the author. I never really got
used to that.

No theology in this book, just a lot of wisdom and encouragement from someone who’s been here longer than me.

In How to Age Without Getting Old, Joyce Meyer has written a book to guide readers into the aging process and how to embrace the different seasons of your life. She begins the book by encouraging everyone to stop and say out loud that one day, they will be 70, 80, and 90 if God decides to bless us to live that long and how we need declare that we will not fear getting older. She shared her own personal story about how she was sexually abused by her father in her youth. She left home at 18 years and she got married. Her husband abandoned her twice and had extramarital affairs, couldn’t keep a job, and he stole things. She opened up about how sick she was physically and doctors related it to stress. She was divorced at 22 and had her first child to raise alone.

She eventually met Dave and married him and they had two more babies. She had to get a full-time job where they could afford to purchase a home. She shared how she drank coffee, smoked cigarettes, didn’t sleep much, and was constantly upset and not happy. She shared how she welcomed Jesus into her life at 33 years old and she started received emotional healing. David and her had another child shortly before she realized her calling into ministry and it all began with nothing. She opened up in this book about how the different events in her life started affecting her. She also had breast cancer in 1985 and this caused her to have to get a hysterectomy. She shared how her ministry was growing and how she did around twenty speaking conferences in a year and each was 4-5 sessions. She filmed her TV show, work 2-3 books a year, book signings, traveled and did foreign mission trips. She realized her health needed to become more of a focus in her life so she hired a personal trainer and at 62 started working out three days a week and she tried to eat healthier. In 2017, the doctors discovered that she had a bad hip since birth and this caused her hip problems her entire life. She didn’t understand how to rest. She was also experiencing other health problems such as being nausea, blood pressure running high, shaky, and weak. She didn’t get how important rest was until her doctor made her take 18 months off of work and rest completely.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is ready to start living and they want to learn to age graceful and enjoy each moment. I immensely love how she explored the importance of not comparing our lives to each other. She revealed how she had to learn the hard way and God taught her in a personal way about not trying to compare with what others are lifting. She had to be reminded that she only needs to be the best that she can be and to remember that her good enough is more than enough. I also enjoyed the five ways to slow down the aging process. I realize one of the areas I can improve is my water intake to help restore my body. I also liked how she included spiritual verses to help feed the spirit. I benefited from the principles she outlined in this book to guide readers into the aging process.

Have you reached a place where you are feeling a bit anxious about getting older? How to Age Without Getting Old by Joyce Meyer offers some solid advice and encouragement about getting older to make the most of every age.

Throughout How to age Without Getting Old, Meyer shares her stories, as well as a few stories from other people, about how she handling aging. She doesn't shy away from sharing ways she wished she had handled things better and she honestly shares things she has done that have helped her grow older with grace. She talks about how important faith is as we grow older. She also talks about taking care of the bodies as best we can through the years by exercising, socializing, managing stress, eating healthfully, taking time to rest, and managing our mental outlook.

I enjoyed How to Age Without Getting Old. I found Meyer to be uplifting and down-to-earth as always. I like how she shares things that are both practical and spiritual. I also think she is at a good place in life to offer this wisdom to others as she is 78 years old and still living a full life--for her age. I think that this is an especially helpful book for women as she shares ways her body has reacted to stress and how hormonal changes affected her. I also like how she shares how things will change as we get older but she offers advice on how she has tried to handle them better as time goes on and passes that along to the reader. She also reminds the reader that it is never to late to start making positive changes. If you are a Joyce Meyer fan who has read her books before you may realize that she has shared some of this personal information before but here she ties it all together with new stories to help the reader relate to aging gracefully.

Like Meyer, I'm in my seventh decade and desire to age without getting old. I want to have the mindset of aging gracefully with wisdom and purpose. This book provides the encouragement and information to do that well.

Yes, there is your typical information on exercise, rest, and eating well. The strength of this book comes from the lessons Meyer has learned as she aged. A hard lesson she learned was the need to reduce her activity. A Type A person, she kept producing until her body betrayed her and she had to rest. Now she knows the necessity and challenge of increasing age also means reduced accomplishments.

I like how Meyer helps us navigate our changing abilities and desires. She encourages us to come to grips with our limitations and not be afraid to ask for help. She also encourages us to realize the value of who we are, even when we are no longer doing what might have been giving us so much meaning in life. She helps us realize that passing on our role in ministry might be God's design. “We can let the loss of things we were once able to do depress us, or we can decide to be happy with what we can still do.” (28) She even encourages us as we face the fear of being alone, revealing the beauty of trusting God.

You don't have to be old to benefit from reading this book. There are insights from Meyer I wish I'd known years ago. We don't have to dread getting older. Read Meyer's book and get a glimpse of the exciting adventure of aging without getting older.

Meyer: “We all age, but we don't have to get old.” (138)

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Aging. Slow down the aging process by (1) get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night (2) drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water everyday (3) get some exercise (4) take good care of skin and teeth (5) eat a healthy diet (6) laugh and have fun (7) use your brain (8) maintain social connections. As we enter different stages of the aging process we will often need to find a new normal. The most important aspect of your life is not what you do it is who you become. The Lord won't strengthen us to do things that are not in His will for us. Whether we feel great or not so great it is important to remain kind uncomplaining and thankful for what we have. Being out of God's will is like wearing clothing that is very uncomfortable. When God wants us to do something specific He always makes a way for us to do it and when he wants us to stop doing it He closes the way. Eight hours of worry is equivalent to forty hours of hard work. Fearing something is usually much worse than actually having it happen. Dread doesn't prevent anything from taking place it only steals the time we have now. At first pain whispers that something may be wrong but if we ignore it long enough it eventually screams. If we let what other people think and say about us determine what we will or won't do most of us won't do much.

How To Age Without Getting Old is a Christian living book by author Joyce Meyer.

How To Age Without Getting Old has four main themes: (1) How to do now what will benefit you as you age, (2) How to give all your worries, both big and small, to God, (3) How to live dynamically with peace and joy in the journey, (4) How to embrace God’s grace for the season you are in. Ms. Meyer asks a relevant question of her readers: Will you simply let yourself “get old”, or will you age gracefully, purposefully, and wisely, allowing God to use you in every season of your life?

Ms. Meyer gives practical tips and advice for all ages, for both men and women. If we but heed what she says I am sure there are many benefits. Even though I read many good tips and benefits the part I enjoyed best was the spiritual aspect.

God's desire is that we enjoy each season of our life, but it's up to us to take care of our bodies--physically, mentally and spiritually. According to Joyce Meyer in her new book, "How to Age Without Getting Old", we should look forward to our latter years and take precautions to keep ourselves healthy, such as eating right, exercising and making an effort to think positively and spending time with God in Scripture and prayer.

The biggest issue in our lives today is how we deal with stress. Meyer mentions many times how much it matters how we deal with stress as it affects our bodies and our minds. While she often repeats herself throughout the book, she offers wisdom and good advice on how to age gracefully and deal well with stress.

Loved it... just a good reminder and renewal to continue my practices of Bible Study and walking for exercise..... eating properly without overindulging in sweets etc.... and being more disciplined. It helps confirm that I am on the right path and points out changes in attitude I must make such as worrying...fear.... negativity.... The challenge to stay positive is ever present and this book help make the point with my favorite scripture reinforcements! Loved the simple way she speaks and the very practical advice Joyce is known for!

Joyce opened my eyes to how to age with confidence and a positive attitude. As always, the book is full of anecdotes from her own life, which are very helpful. It will also help me to help others age with dignity as well. I'm a highlighter, and I have highlighted almost every word in chapter 8 of this beautiful book. This will definitely help me as I move forward. I'm 56 and I bought this book as well for my mother who is 75, but think this is good advice for any age. Because you can never be overly prepared for the aging process.

Not the blockbuster I’d hoped. I didn’t really learn any new tips but an interesting account of Meyer’s life as she ages. The majority of us do not have a lifestyle where we can not work and rest for eighteen months and expect it to not be a struggle to maintain our daily lives without the stress of how we’re going to finance this rest. Even with health issues. It’s wonderful that Meyer was able to take a well needed and deserved rest, however I don’t believe my family could survive the loss of income. But again, all things are possible with God!

Joyce Meyer provides excellent ways to walk with God as we age without getting old. Just because we grow older does not mean we are no longer useful in God’s Kingdom. She gives clear directions on how we can stay youthful as we age and serve our Lord in all of our life stages.

This was an encouragement and reinforcement for me. It seems the older I become the more He has for me to do. This was also a confirmation to continue to step into the ways the Lord has been leading me for His divine purpose.

This is an excellent book to read at any age. Joyce gives some great tips about how to age with grace. Some key points include the importance of diet, exercise, learning to say "no", not comparing ourselves to others, rest, social connections and water. We should focus on what we can do as we age. Be thankful for blessings in our past as well. Try to focus on the positive and trust God.

While there is Biblical truth in this book about not fearing getting older and health information on how to keep your body and mind fit as you age I felt the topics of personal trainers, massages, retirement, resting for 18 months, etc. showed a different lifestyle that many adults don’t have the opportunity to even consider. Aging doesn’t seem so scary when you have the lifestyle of the rich and famous, so to speak.

I’m coming up on my 30th birthday and this book caught my eye at the library. There’s a lot of pressure leading up to the 30th birthday (especially for women) and this book brought a lot of needed perspective. I appreciated the focus on the importance of our own health - mental, physical and spiritual - as we get older. If you are not Christian, you may be turned off by some of the themes and biblical passages, but I think the book is still valuable, so maybe give it a shot.

Previously, I have read Joyce Meyer to great effect. One of her books helped me immensely during a stressful time when I was in the military. I thought, with the stress that aging brings, and my newness to it, I might find similar comfort here. While there is wisdom, certainly, and I would never go so far as to criticize this author - she does a great deal of good and she IS wise - it just didn't help me the way I was hoping. DNF.

I borrowed this book from the library and gave it a quick read through. It's full of good advice, so I bought my own copy. I plan to read it more slowly and highlight areas that really stood out to me. It will be good to review this book every so often. The author is close in age to my mom; it's going to be good to have access to her experience in the coming years. I recommend this book to anyone who's concerned with aging well.

Joyce Meyer never disappoints. This is a good read for folks of any age but especially encouraging to those of us in mid-life whose aging is becoming discernible to the senses and can no longer be ignored or denied. JM gives great practical advice but also uses Scripture to speak to fears and correct the wrong thinking most of us have absorbed through living in cultures that value youth and productivity above all else. Highly recommend this one and will probably read it again myself.

This is a book written to all ages but mainly aimed at younger women encouraging them to develop spiritual, physical and mental health habits which will help an older person enjoy life to the fullest. Joyce is in her late 70s and shares what she wished she had known and practiced as she built her ministry. I did feel she was speaking to me when she addressed taking on too many commitments as one ages.

"How to Age Without Getting Old" by Joyce Meyer disappoints with a lack of fresh insights, as it primarily echoes common advice on sleep, hydration, and health maintenance. Instead of delving into meaningful guidance, the book predominantly focuses on Meyer's personal life struggles, diverting attention from the promised subject matter and leaving readers wanting more substance on aging gracefully.

HOW TO AGE WITHOUT GETTING OLD – The Steps You Can Take Today to Stay Young for The Rest of Your Life was sent to me by Hachette Book Group, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
Faith Words – A division of Hachette Book Group published this Christian non-fiction book by Joyce Meyer. I enjoy reading her books and doing her studies.. Joyce Meyer is also world renowned for her speaking, radio, and tv teachings. She is a best selling author, with over 130 books currently in print. I chose to also purchase this book as an audiobook, and take notes as I listened.
Joyce Meyer said, “I firmly believe that we should enjoy all the years that God gives us.” I agree!!
This book is not just spiritual, full of scriptures. You know, if I’m going to read a book that is supposed to be Scripture based, it needs to be. It is also full of life application teachings. Joyce gives advice about PRACTICAL self care. She talks a lot about the need for rest! It’s interesting, my devotions in several of my devotionals…and my Bible readings also had to do with the need for rest…internal, as well as external. She actually got pretty sick because she refused to rest. I like reading books where the author actually as experience to teach from. She also gives advice concerning diet, exercise, hydration, taking care of our skin, teeth, and nails, and even laughter.
“Will you simply let yourself ‘get old’, or will you age gracefully, purposefully, and wisely, allowing God to use you in every season of your life?”
I would definitely recommend this book, and even the audiobook, to anyone who wants to grow old gracefully…the way God intends for us.
