Practical and inspiring, this best-selling book helps students learn to cope with experiences associated with death, dying, and bereavement. The authors integrate classical and contemporary material, present task-based approaches for individual and family coping, and include four substantial chapters devoted to death-related issues faced by children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Incredibly good text book on death, loss and grief. Well organized information and any controversial topics presented without bias and with ample arguments from both sides. Would be great for those studying thanatology or those better trying to understand what we will all one day experience. I personally loved the emphasis on understanding death to better understand how best to live.
"Practical and Inspiring" is a bit of a hard sell. It has some solid information that is organized in a easy to read and memorize manner. That said, I found a number of the conversations in the text to be surface level conversations, or to largely state the obvious.
There was so much information about death that came in many different aspects. As hard as it was for me to read about death, I'm glad I'm finally done with the book.
This was an extremely good book in preparing myself for handling the departure of family and friends in the future. It made me think of my own departure someday. I will go back to this book when needed and will recommend it for family and friends when they lose someone.
A well written textbook of important information that everyone will eventually face at some point in their lives. A thoughtful book of guidance; understanding and preparedness of the inevitable. I will keep this book for future reference.
The typical textbook read. Not great. Not engaging. Useful, to an extent. For those interested in the topic, it has some good information in it. There are probably much better ways, and books, to get it from though.
