5+++++*stars REALLY.
THIS STARTED OUT WITH MANNY AKA SINATRA F-KING UP VERY BADLY, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT NOT MANNY, HE GOT PLAYED BIGTIME. MANNY IS NOT HIMSELF HE HAS GOTTEN THROWN FOR A LOOP, BY A WOMAN. SMH. HE HAS MET HIS MATCH. I FEEL SORRY FOR MANNY. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS MADE INTO A MOVIE IT HAS SOME ACTION-PACKED SCENES, I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT AND TALKING TO MY KINDLE, OMG! EXCITING AND FUNNY, AND THE ATERNATIVE ENDING WAS GOOD TOO, SO GOOD I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE I LIKED BETTER. BRAVO!!! BRONWEN KNOCKING ON MANNY'S DOOR. YESsssss! ;D

Just a bit too silly

The further Manny gets on his own the sillier the stories and the adventures get. While this one ended well the twists, turns and unbelievable action is just plain over the top. Turn it down a bit to believability....

LOVED it! There is NOTHING better than being inside of Manny's head, hearing his thoughts. He is such a hoot. The is definitely a nod to James Bond action and women, and it was great fun. My only criticism is that I just don't think Manny would have made as many silly mistakes even with Bronwen turning him inside out. He's just too proud of his work ethic. That being said, if Manny had been Manny, the story would have been over in the first 50 pages!

Thank you, Mr. Lee, for so much fun! Thank you!!

Manny Martinez, who I like better as the sidekick in the Mackenzie August series, is back for his third adventure as federal agent Sinatra.

It may be the weakest outing so far. I like the characters. But there is something just a bit off-putting about Manny's poor vocabulary and his fervent love for all things USA. And the character's depiction may come off as just a tiny bit racist.

Add to that Sinatra falls for the woman he is pursuing and all kinds of PI codes seem to be violated.

I'll keep supporting Alan Lee and his two Roanoke, Va., series. But Manny -- and Lee -- need to step it up a notch or I'll ne concentrating solely on August.

Yeah This Is Awesome!!

If you have not picked up a book by this writer then you are really missing out on one of the best experiences of your reading life. The writer continues with our two heroes Manny and Beck. In this high risk, high octane story, our heroes finally meet their equals and it makes for one.of the best stories. I love the fact that we get a hero that's not perfect and isn't trying to be. This was such a good thriller and with so many good moments. I look forward to the next installment in the lives of Manny and Beck.

I need me some more Mac

I've read ALL of Mac's books and Manny. Loved, loved them. I got them on unlimited but had to read them again and again so I bought them. Lee you are a genius. Best series ever. Just the right enough of everything. I've read them several times. Just to get me some more Mac. Great storyline, characters great. Well played. I laughed so hard. Loved the interaction with baby and his woman. I had to keep my dictionary handy for all the big words. One would have to read the books to know what I mean. Ha. Please bring Mac to life again and Manny too.

Another great one....

As usual, if you at all cognizant (another good word Manny) with Mr Lee's books, you will expect to find what I did when I read this book. Excitement, fun, a great story and terrific characters. Sinatra went on another exciting adventure with a very formidable foe, who kept him on his toes the entire book. Will this "formidable foe" be back in future adventures, I sure hope so.

All of Alan Lee's Talents Coalesce in this Wonderful Novel

I read Alan Lee's novels as fast as he can write them.
Paradise Royale is his best novel yet. Not only an homage to Ian Fleming, but an excellent, action-packed thriller that introduces a great new character from whom we hope to see again soon.

Manny meets his match.

I enjoyed this book very much. Tons of twists and turns and surprises. I have read all of Alan Lee’s detective books. I love the humor and the stories and the characters. This one I read in one day. Eagerly waiting for more. PS I loved the dedication in the front of the book. I know who all three of those people are. (Feeling cool.)

What a guy

Reading a Sinatra (Manny) book is like riding in a car without brakes down a mountain road. You have to remember to breathe. You also have to remember that you have a life and stop reading for a few minutes. Good luck with that. This book is a great ride and if you like lots of action and terrific characters you will love it as I did. Lots and lots of fun.

Another winner

Rea!ly enjoyed the new thriller. The characters are well defined, and the story flows quickly. I purposely read this one over several days to enjoy it, and be enveloped by the scenery. Both topical and human. Great job.

Another in the win column

The author does not disappoint the reader in developing a plot dedicated to the adventures of Manny . The expertise of developing an exciting plot keeping the interest of the reader continues without a dip in quality.

Adventure

The Canadian Mounties always get their man. Manny always gets his man, but not necessarily his woman. Does that make him a Mountie? Who knows. I recommend that you read Paradise Royal and find out.

This is the third book in the action-packed adventure series that features U.S. Marshall Manny “Sinatra” Martinez who works at a special federal task force that pursues the most highly sought fugitives from justice. His partner is Noelle Beck who had been with the National Security Agency (“NSA”), she is the technical brains on this team. Manny, who loves and is devoted to America, is an extremely self-confident man of action. At times, the man of action only understands direct and to the point violence to obtain his goal. In this adventure they are seeking to prevent a “Eric Snowden” type of treason as a U.S. Government employee is offering to sell classified documents to the highest bidder. The trader has the documents in a briefcase chained to his wrist via a biomedical lock. If the contact is broken, the documents are burned and a special message is electronically sent to a back-up server so digital copies of those classified documents will be sent to journalist around the globe. The same thing will happen if this treasonous villain doesn’t phone the remote server with a special code once every 24 hours. Manny knows the Russians want to get those documents, but they are not the only ones. The document thief is no real physical threat to Manny and Noelle, but other agents who seek those documents are quite dangerous. This story starts a bit slowly as far as action goes as the author sets the tone that the primary adversary for Manny is both intelligent and resourceful as well as dangerous. But once the action kicks into high gear you’ll get plenty of vividly described action scenes. There are many references in this story to Ian Flemming and James Bond as the author is paying tribute to Mr. Flemming for his work on action and adventure fiction.

Perhaps Lee is doing penance for misspelling Ian Fleming's name in book one of this series, for here Manny Martinez aka Sinatra, , a would be American version of James Bond (only much tougher in a physical fight) heads with his partner Noelle Beck to Jamaica to catch a thief who absconded with a dweeb handcuffed to some volatile info in a locked briefcase. They will review a lot about Ian Fleming as his Jamaican home becomes part of the storyline. I credit Lee with giving homage where homage is due.

The villain is a striking femme fatale who not only outwits our hero, she seems to have mesmerized him with her beauty and talents. Her large African American sidekick seems adept at winning over Noelle, too!

One troubling aspect of Manny's character, which by and large I otherwise really enjoy in showcasing him as an alpha male hero, is his loud blind patriotism. It actually angered me when he said he didn't care who was president, whoever was president he would agree with everything that person stands for, says, and does, because that is what being a patriot is. No, no, no! The president is not the country, and blind allegiance, like blind patriotism, is a recipe for disaster. I felt a bit the same way about Manny constantly harping on only buying American (although he himself will break that rule for a foreign product he really likes). In the 21st century, such an approach carried to an extreme seems self defeating to me.

But back to the book itself. Exciting adventure, nonstop. A fun and quick read.

I do love Alan Lee's books! I had book 1 in the Sinatra series, The Supremacy Licence in my kindle library for ages, it was down at the bottom and forgotten. But when I decided to read it - I had a new favourite author! Manny Martinez, star of this series, is the best friend of MacKenzie August; this series is actually a spin off of the main MacKenzie August series, and Alan Lee helpfully gives hints as to when it's a good idea to read the next "Sinatra" book, as the events in the main MacKenzie series cross over from time to time with Manny's "other life". Manny, a Federal Marshall from a South American country (he's flexible) is more patriotic than natural Americans since Reagan's immigration policy gave him and his drunk mother citizenship and escape from a dangerous life. He and office colleague, Noelle Beck, computer analyst, are recruited into a super secret, deniable government Black ops. He insists on the code name Sinatra - "the greatest American". I love the dialogue Alan Lee writes and his characters are complicated, especially Manny. The stories are exciting and unpredictable - like another of Manny's heros, James Bond (even though he's not American) who is in Manny's thoughts during this wild chase after an obnoxious traitor, in competition with two other forces. I love this series and will continue reading as long as Alan Lee writes them.

Better than the first. Same as the second. Again, for me, the key to these novels is the character development of the secondary characters. Manny can be cool and interesting, but he can also be irritating and annoying. It's the ancillary characters that I'm interested in. I don't know if I'll finish the last two books in this series (so far), but I've always planned on going back to the McKenzie series.

One slightly annoying aspect is these intertwine with those, so if you read either series in order, you'll be reading the other series slightly disjointed. An example; in the second book of the Manny series, McKenzie isn't married. By the third book, he apparently has met someone, and they've married. In the grand scheme of things in the plot of the Manny book, it means nothing. But I found myself wishing I read the McKenzie book when those things occur before reading the third Manny book.

Another great read!

This Manny/Sinatra book is another great read by Alan Lee. It looks like Manny may have found his "Ronnie" like August did. We will have to see in future books how they play out. This case for Sinatra and Beck is certainly full of all kinds of excitement/danger that keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. There are never any dull moments in this series of books. I am really looking forward to the next Sinatra and August books.

This is my third Martinez-focused book, plus I've read many Mackenzie-focused books that of course include Manny.
This book had a flaw. Yes, the dangers and the ways Manny and Beck get out of them are always pretty fascinating. And Manny's language/verbiage "mistakes" are hilarious.
BUT, Manny is too sophisticated, experienced, and focused on his job to let Bronwin's womanly charms and body capture him sooo fully and instantaneously!
He has NEVER let that happen with other gorgeous, sneaky, dangerous women. I was very disappointed in him and of course the author. Very out of character.

Trite and boring

Not as good as the Mackenzie books. I don’t think Manny as written can carry a story. I told myself the last Manny book was the last I’d read, but I gave this one a chance and was disappointed.

The characters are merely caricatures; the beats in the story just lack an 80s sitcom laugh track to be complete. There were a few moments in the book that were borderline racist too, which is very disappointing.

Love your series with MacKenzie August and his family

Love your MacKenzie August series, including the spin-offs with Manny and Beck. Fun and addictive writing, great stuff!!! Sheriff Stackhouse and Ronnie Summers provide sexy, smart companions for the men of the house. With son Kix and GPS, their dog, you've got quite the amazing cast of characters that comprise the August family. Can't wait to continue the antics. Don't stop now!!!

The best - by far - of the Sinatra series. Non-stuff action, great characters, humor, unrequited love interests abound. It is Allan Lee at his finest. I thought this series not nearly as good as the MacKenzie August group, but this book is as good as any of those. What makes it better is it is all set up for a sequel. Once again, I will be stalking Mr. Lee on Amazon awaiting the next one.

Finally....or not?

Manny may or may not get the girl. I won't give any spoilers. The Sinatra and the McKenzie August books are just so entertaining. They're almost like superheroes. Keep writing them Alan and I will keep reading them. And I don't live too far down the road from you either over here in Grayson County.

This is my first read of a Lee book and found it fun but not memorable. Manny seems like a bit of a cartoon character and not a protagonist that you really get into and root for.Too much rah, rah USA but no context for his bluster. Acts and dress's like a millionaire but again no context to where he got his resources. A good, fast beach read.

Developing characters

I would definitely recommend this book. It was not my favorite but still a great read. Really enjoyed the development of both female characters, Beck and Bronwen. Beck in finding herself and Bronwen freeing herself from her past. Great for the future of Sinatra saga...

Plot was OK - though as usual a bit far-fetched - but the writing seemed rushed. Alan Lee doesn't seem to understand the British establishment, he writes the English monarchy, the English Army - there hasn't been one of those for over 3oo years! Us Brits get used to being the the dark ones in the American storylines; don't have a problem with that, but at least get the detail right!

I thought that this was an exciting adventure, with the possibility of a new love life for Manny. I would prefer that he find a romantic arrangement with Beck though, as they complement each other. Manny is fooled many times in this story, which seems out of character. Maybe he was just distracted by beauty…

LOVE this series

Even more than the Mackenzie series. Perhaps it is the action..might be more of the relationship between Manny and Beck…could be both.
Watching Manny mold Beck into a true agent, a more feminine woman and more personable being is fun to watch.
Highly recommend this series and now, even though it’s late, must go fund #4 in the series!
