RDP is the next Pavel

Just another fantastic book, full of great information on Isometrics, helpful hints and with detailed pictures. Perfect for any level of athlete looking to add some new tools to their workbench.

Matt has always come across like a buddy from down the street with the wise array training tips. The most informative workout videos on YouTube and I he's really become the Master Fitness trainer over the years, of the likes to Pavel Tsatsouline. Yeah buddy!

"Overcoming Isometrics" is a general overview of the benefits of Isometric exercises. The main advantages are twofold. Isometrics can help you build a tremendous amount of strength due to the fact that your strength largely comes from your nervous system and not your muscles. This is a neural conditioning method that directly asks your muscles to work. In other exercises, for example free weights and machines, only enough energy is used to lift the specific weight which can be delimiting in building strength. Secondly, Isometrics is specifically ideal for older individuals who have various injuries and health issues which make dynamic exercises counterproductive. The only criticism is that the illustrations and explanations could be better; however, it is my understanding that several videos are offered through the author's Red Delta Project Tube Channel.

Over the past years, Matt's books and Youtube channel have transformed how I manage my personal fitness. The new book is introducing great new strength training methods that require no equipment (or just stuff that I had around, like rings, or stuff in your home, like countertops, doorframes, and other furniture). I've done pushups/squats etc for years, but Overcoming Isometrics has been a game changer for me. A couple weeks in, I am seeing progress that I haven't seen in years. It's a super flexible approach - I'm essentially doing around 20 minutes of OI exercises mixed in with more classic calisthenics, 4-5x per week. That's all it takes! Thank you Matt!

The Best book dedicated to Isometric training principals and practices

As the heading states, it simply is one of the Best books on Isometric training next to Physiology of Strength by Teodore Hettinger. Great job Matt for clarifying the subject of isometric training for which I clearly will utilize what you taught ASAP as mentioned towards y end of the book. To the readers of this review, you will not be disappointed at all.

The book provides very little scientific explanation and very little advice on how to actually program workouts. It's more of an exercise library. If you don't know how to target a muscle it's nice to have but if you do have prior experience in strength training it's not hard to figure that part out. And everything else (science and programs) are at an absolute basic beginner level. I'd say you are better off with other books about the subject if you want to learn.

Simple honest informative and to the point.

This book gave me great information on a style of training that I love. I learned about this training method during a period in my life where I've become more sedentary than ever before. And this book has given me ideas on how to take the great results I've already gained to the next level. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their fits education and horizon!

I read this book in one sitting. There is a lot of good information in this book. I really liked the exercises covered. I had never seen many of them before. Great book.
