I have the biggest book hangover from this book. What have you done to me, Dani Rene?!?!! This book had so many emotions that I cried during 3/4 of this book. This book will forever be in my heart and soul. Such a powerful story of addiction, trauma, a beautiful friendship, and most importantly, love. To say this book moved me is an understatement; I am tearing up just writing this review.
Kaylen Cassin have been best friends in high school until Kaylen moves away and does something to hurt Cassin. Both have always loved each other and never acted on it, as it just wasn’t their time. Both have demons, and more so Kaylen with drugs and grief. Fast forward fives years until the present, and now Kaylen is back. Cassin wants Kaylen to pay for what he did to her; however, he finds out that Kaylen predicament is worse than any payback.
Cassin showed what kind of character he is and how he handles Kaylen from a teenager to now. He is the whole package. Gorgeous, possessive, caring, loving, and such a fantastic way with words with the action to back it up. Let's not forget he will burn down the world for you. He is the ultimate book boyfriend.
Kaylen is my sassy kind of heroine. What is troublesome is how her parents didn’t see through the complete and utter crap thrown their way and Kaylen’s. This poor girl went through hell and back.
My heart broke for these two with the pain they went through to be together. From the very beginning, you can feel their love for each other and how their friendship was so much more.
I can honestly say this is one of Dani Rene’s best books she has written; the words effortlessly flow through the pages. I can’t help but to love the Thorne brothers when these men love a person; it's with everything they have.

Soooo Dani broke me 😭😭
This story was heartbreaking, and totally unexpected!!!
But i've come to understand that's Dani René style: reading her blurbs, she always lead me to think the stories will follow a certain path... instead NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS!!
Five years ago, Kalyn and Cassian' roads separated and not in the best way...
The two best friends always had feelings for each other, but never been together.
Both broken, they dealt with the pain in different ways: Kaly used alcohol and drugs to numb it, while Cassian became Kaly' protector.
After many years and many secrets, things are different, they are different.
Kaly's return to Thorne Haven offers Cassian the perfect opportunity to get his revenge...
But will revenge still hold its appeal once the only girl he ever loved is in danger??
In this second chapter of Thornes & Roses series, Dani make us face heavy topics such as drug addiction.
It's been hard reading Kaly pov and feeling her pain, her struggles...
It shattered my heart and I honestly had to take few breaks from the story.
But i'm sorry to say i don’t really liked her.
Instead I totally fell for Cassian 😍😍
Despite his coldness, he showed us from the beginning what kind of man he is:
his words may be harsh, but his actions speak volume his love for Kalyn.
And that's why I gave this book 4.5 instead of 5. Because I felt like everything focused on Kalyn, and Cassian was there just to protect her, love her ect...
But what about him? what about his own pain?
Maybe I just needed few more chapters for Kalyn to show us her love for Cassian...
Even so I think this is one of Dani' best work ‼️

Cassian stole my breathe with his devotion and now owns my heart. I'm totally okay with it, too!
I had a feeling I was going to love his story after getting to know him in his brother's book - A Cut so Deep. This story was amazing and soared beyond my expectations. Quite a journey this one was!
His heart beats for just one girl. One that's too young at the time. She's also fighting her own demons and addictions. Unable to pull herself out of that dark pit, even with the unwavering attention of her best friend. Even when she wants to be so strong. The pull is just too much.
Kalyn's finally back in Thorne Haven and Cass is ready to make her pay. Make her pay for a lie that never should have passed through her lips. Things aren't what they seem though and soon all will come to light. Will it be too late?
This book is filled with hope and redemption. Steadfast love. Twists and turns. Heartbreaking moments that shatter your heart. Dani breaks us just to put us back together, even stronger than we were.

I am in love with Cassian❤
This compassionate, caring man is in love with Kalyn but she is too young and she has an addictive personality that she struggles with.
A High So Sweet takes us back to Thorne Haven where Kalyn and Cassian meet as young teenagers and Cassian develops a need to protect her, even from herself.
Dani René pens a beautiful story that painfully details addiction and the repercussions and devastating effect it has on the people around them. And she does it eloquently and with kindness.

An impetuous high with a dash of mystery. This story is definitely going to pull your emotional side, it deals with sensitive subjects so before going in read the author’s trigger warning.
I personally enjoyed this moving story, I liked the way the author approaches a delicate topic depicting it with sensibility and respect without glossing over the ugly truths behind harmful addictions.

We first meet Kalyn when she’s a teenager, she’s rebellious, kind hearted and has a lot of pain in her that she doesn’t know how to handle. The only way to numb it is getting high. However Kalyn’s favourite addiction is a guy with teal eyes, a heart of gold, her hero but also her forbidden fruit.
Cassian is an eighteen years old boy with ghosts of his own to fight. His only light is a sassy beautiful young woman. He vows to protect her even from himself as long as he can keep her safe.
I have to say I found a bit difficult to connect with Kalyn, I could forgive her actions when she was a teenager, I was a bit annoyed when she was grown up. However the author’s ability in spinning Kalyn’s tragic tale helped me see her in a different light, I realised she was just a victim of a series of bad circumstances. I couldn’t blame her for her weakness when she has always been alone. Cassian was her only light and when she lost that she missed the right path. It was inevitable to fall down the rabbit hole.

Cassian is a beautiful character, his pain never stops him from protecting Kalyn, even when he’s hurt by her actions he puts her first, his love is strong and resilient. It defies time and space. I liked Cassian’s perseverance, he’s focused he always acts with purpose, his pain is deep and he keeps it buried so well he has his own struggles to overcome before claiming Kalyn.
The story is told in dual POV, the narrative is steady, sometimes it becomes slow, there were a few repetitions and minor inconsistencies in the plot, however the intensity of the emotional story the author tells makes this book an enjoyable moving journey.

I have found my newest book boyfriend and it is Cassin. The emotional roller coaster that I went through reading this book was wonderful. I could not imagine what Dani went through writing it.
Cassin has been hurt by his old "friend" Kaylen when they were teenagers. Kaylen has a lot of emotional baggage and Cassin was always there for her no matter what. But when it came down to Kaylen protecting Cassin she fails miserably.
Years later Kaylen shows back up in Cassin's town and he wants revenge. But the life that Kaylen is leading turns out to be more than Cassin could ever do to her. And the love they have for each other just might be more than the vengeance's he had for her all these years.
I devoured this book in one setting. I loved it and can't wait to own the paperback to go with my other Dani books!

After reading Damien's story, I was craving Cassian's turn and finally, his story is here and it is a wonderful while at the same time a very difficult ride!!!
Cassian had stolen my heart, but to be totally honest here Kalyn's actions frustrated the hell out of me, while my sensitive strings inside my heart was feeling sorry for her...
This story can be described as a beautiful mess!!!
"In the dark, dark night, the hunter finds his prey...
And when he captures her, he'll feast on her fear and devour her flesh."
Kalyn and Cassian used to have a close friendship in their teenage years even though they were three years apart.
Kalyn and Cassian both had feelings for each other, but Cassian never acted upon them...
He just kept Kalyn at arm's length and decided to be her protector...
Kalyn had been addicted to the high for her own reasons...
Then Kalyn lied and fled town with her family...
"My knight is shining armor is a boy I'll never have.
Happy ever after isn't something I can ever have.
Not with Cassian.
I'm far too destructive."
Five years later, Kalyn is coming back and the old feelings for Cassian never left her, but things couldn't be more complicated and her addiction is clearly out of hand....
Cassian is still mad at her because of her lies and the way she left him behind and now, it's the time for payback...
But things is not always as they seem to be and shit are about to hit the fan...

I liked this couple, even though I couldn't connect very well with Kalyn.

Cassian was an amazing creature!!!! He was in love with that girl and it showed!!!! His protector mode was out of this world and I loved the way he was caring for Kalyn!!!!

Her touch is my addiction.
Being with her is a high so sweet, I never want to come down."
I enjoyed and this story on the Thorne Haven world and I can not wait for Finn's story!!!!
I'm already too intrigued by him and arranged marriages are one of my favorite tropes, so you can imagine my excitement!!!

This emotional story was so hard to put down once I started I couldn’t put it down! Kayln and Cassian’s story is raw it’s emotional it’s full of all the feels this heartbreaking beautiful read consumed me I didn’t want it to end ! This book is full of intense twists and turns and had me turning page after page . The writing was amazing the characters were everything this is a must read!

Kaylen and Cassian's story was tragic yet beautiful. And the starting was really heart-breaking.
Kaylen was a beauty but yet lost in pain and Cassian being the most beautiful thing in her life. I loved Kaylen's character she loved fiercely and she was so good but her one weakness made everything a mess. But still she was so strong.
And Cassian being Kaylen's Knight in shining armour. Always being there for her.
When one mistake lead one thing to another, it was great to watch how they took care of each other even after everything and how to make everything work.
I LOVE THIS BOOK. It was makes my heartache so much for Both Kayln & Cassian. Their chemistry was just so wonderful and inevitable to ignore.

A High so Sweet is the second book in the Thornes & Roses Series by author Dani Rene. It is written in dual POV and tells the story of Cassian and Kaylen.
The books can be read as a standalone, but I advise you not to do it. Trust me, you will miss some important facts, and the main reason, they are way too good.
I was so afraid to read this book. The main subject of this book is actually one of my triggers. So I was constantly on the edge, but Dani Rene made a wonderful job at hiding the details and in the end, I loved it.
We first met Cassian in a Cut so Deep. He is Damien's brother.
Kaylen and Cassian are best friends, and they secretly love each other, only Cassian doesn't make his move on her, because he is older than her. He wants to wait for her. Unfortunately, fate and life had other plans for Kaylen and him. She has to move away from Thrones, and if that wasn't enough, she also lies, and Cassian gets the fault, and obviously hurts him.

A High so Sweet by Dani René was an emotional and inspiring love story with twisted chemistry that will set your heart and soul on fire. It has some amazing characters who are complicted, shattered and so perfect. The passion and the angst were balanced so well.
Kalyn Narro left Thorne Haven with a broken heart and a lie that destroyed the boy she always loved, Cassian Thorne. Cassian has vowed to take revenge and he has the perfect chance as Kalyn has come back. With a fiance. But as Cassian plans his sinister vengeance, he feels that all is not ok with Kalyn's engagement. She is in trouble. What will Cassian do? Will he save the girl as he always did? Or will he hurt her?
This story deals with demons of addiction and substance abuse so if you have issues with that, you should probably skip this one. Kalyn has gone from one heartbreak to another without any real support from her family. And she took shelter in drugs. I don't judge her at all. Her life went from a mess to an uglier mess and my heart just breaks for her pain. She is actually strong and the villain is the persons who abused her and forcefully made her stay high just so they can torture her. And Cassian tried his best to protect her and keep her whole while fighting his own demons. Their separation was by hate, betrayal and anger. But it didn't reduce the intensity of their connection. Cassian wanted to be her villain with his devious plans but he emerged as the broken hero. His violence and his alpha persona go hand in hand. He is the wonderful combination of an antihero, a sweet lover and an angel. Their passion was nuclear hot and mixed with years of pent up aggression and frustration. The plot was interesting with twists at every corner.

This second chance romance is the second book in the Thornes & Roses series. It takes place in Thorne Haven, named after the founding families, the Thornes & the Havens. While we revisit characters known to us, this can be read as a standalone. This book was a heart-breaker for me. I don’t seek out books on this subject matter but the author dealt with the topic with a lot of compassion. The main characters, Cass and Kalyn, have a close and caring relationship. We see them at 20 & 17, respectively, and then five years later.
It feels like Kaylin is at the mercy of others-first, it's her parents, then her fiancé, and overall, her addictions. Despite this, Kaylin is by no means weak. She is a complex character, a likeable woman who has made a mistake and despite the mess her life is, tries to make it right. Cassian is a tower of strength, yet has his own vulnerabilities. A powerfully emotional must read.

After reading Damien’s story I didn’t know what to think and expect from Cassian, but he surprised me in the best possible way!
Cassian and Kalyn were best friends and in love but Cass never acted on his feelings. Now five years have gone by since Kalyn moved away, and although hurt and wanting to get back at her for lies she told, Cassian still holds all the love for her.
Kalyn’s past and present were heartbreaking and it was hard to read about everything she’s been through. But unfortunately, I still struggled with fully connecting with her and at times I even thought she didn’t really deserve Cassian.
And Cassian completely stole my heart. He was so caring, loyal and commited to Kalyn, and prepared to do anything to protect her.
While there are heavy themes, the story is also filled with so much love and hope. It is beautifully written and one of Dani’s best books I’ve read to far. It easily became one of my favorites from her. Can’t wait for Finn’s story next!

A High So Sweet by Dani Rene is book 2 in the Thornes & Roses Series. This is the story of
Kalyn Narro and Cassian 'Cass' Thorne. I have read the previous book which did add to my enjoyment of this one but this was a standalone book I thought. Kayln and Cassian at one time been friends both secretly wanting more but for Cassian Kayln was to young. Cassian had always felt protective of Kayln which had to the hurt that was caused by Kayln. Kayln ended up being moved away by her family but as now return about 5 years later to Thorne Haven. Cassian want's revenge against Kayln for what she did along with her daring to come back with someone. But the more he sees of her he starts to see things are not what he thought. This is a dark emotional read that may have triggers issue due to addition / abuse. For me this was a page turning read.

Cass and Kalyn’s story is one that deals with some serious topics throughout their story. We’re given an edge of your seat ride from the very beginning until the end. I got one couldn’t stand Paulo from the beginning and that passion I felt for him only grew as we moved deeper into the book and learned more and more. The throwback memories will have you with an emotional overload with some scenes. The storyline is steady and the characters all have a passion within themselves that bring them to life and off the pages.

Wow what a story. No matter what I say about this story I’m not going to give it the review it deserves. Cassian and Kalyn hooked me right in and I didn’t want to let go.
This is an amazing read with so many feels.
The author sure pulled me through the emotional wringer with this one. I highly recommend this story. You need to read it to feel it for yourself.

Kalyn and Cassian have a great story with the perfect pace to keep the reader's attention the whole time. I absolutely love enemies to lovers stories and this one exceeded my expectations The pull between these two and the way their story comes together pulled on all my feels and I loved the transformation in Cassian as everything comes to light.

I felt so sorry for Kalyn. So many things were happening outside of her control. Pretty much everything from the time she was a child just spiraled away from her, and she did what she could to get it under control, it was just so harmful to herself.

A High Do Sweet by Dani Rene is the second book in the Thorns and Roses series and it was so incredibly GOOD!
Cassian and Kalyn were EPIC and addictive, and drew me into the story and refused to let me go, causing me to devour this from start to finish in a single sitting, and it was oh so worth it!
Kalyn is so strong and I was in awe of her resilience, and her beauty, both inside and out. She has a lot of burdens she carries with her, but her fight to be better, to go after what she wants and deserves is amazing.
Cassian, oh he is a tall glass of ice cold water, a shivering shock to the system, he is smooth, he is growly, he is utterly delectable. He is focused and dedicated, and when he wants something, well, nothing better stand in his way.
A wealth of shared history, of mistakes, of trying to do the right thing, of miscommunications, of FEELS, takes you on one HECK of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey that you can't help but want more of. The tension, the drama, the mystery, all of it hooks you and causes your heart to skip beats and hour breath to get caught in your throat while you're kept on tenterhooks. And each twist and turn and reveal? DIVINE.

Emotional roller coaster! This is an easy read with delicious characters in the sexy cool Cassian and the beautiful broken Kalyn. A sweet, protective teen relationship between the two turns into a hate love when Kaly tells a lie that crushes Cass. Kaly leaves Thorne Haven and the man she loves behind while he fumes and waits to get his revenge. Well, she back and it’s on. But things are not what they seems and soon Cass’s revenge plot turns into a need to save Kaly. He’s such a hunk with a massive protective side when it comes to Kaly. She has an evil fiancé that Cass deals with in a frightening way. Paulo chose the wrong woman to harm. I love these Thorne brothers with their smarts and resources plus all that huskiness. Yum! This moved along at a good pace with Kaly trying to recover and realize her love for Cass. There’s an intensity to Cass that’s really sexy with his determination to rescue Kaly is so strong. Sometimes there was a little too much telling in the story for me. Kaly was a broken mess with demons and I couldn’t quite get on board with her weakness but I guess the hard Cass needs a softer woman that calls to his savior side. Cass was fabulous as was his brother Finn. There are sweet moments with the lovebirds Damien and Nasrin in the story. This is a terrific second story with the Thorne brothers from this wonderful author and her intense storytelling. I look forward to Finn’s story.

A High so Sweet (Thornes & Roses #2) by Dani René was a great 5 star read.
Once I started I didn’t want to put it down, I had several late nights.
We start 5 years in the past, Kalyn has the biggest crush on Cass, he was always very protective of her. She’s finally hoping that he will give her what she has been craving for a while now. But...there is a twist that causes hurt and someone seeking revenge.
Kalyn finds herself back in town and she isn’t looking forward to seeing Cass. She knows that she has to talk to him. Cass is shocked to hear that Kalyn is back in town, he finally will be able to get what he’s always wanted, “Revenge”.
Overall this was a great read with several twists and turns. My emotions were all over the place.
Cassian, wow where to start with this man. He was very possessive of Kalyn, you could feel the anger and love coming off Cass throughout the book. Kalyn, I liked her but didn’t love her, my heart broke for all of the things she had to deal with. The author does a great job with her writing and you feel everything the characters do. I am loving this series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Cassian was everything I want in my book boyfriend...caring, a Grumpy exterior but a mushy bear from the inside. The way he loves...its extraordinary in its own sense.
I knew as soon as this book dropped on my Kindle that I am in for a major bookhangover...Cassian stole my heart, willingly with his charm, his devotion to protect the one he loves. I have a special place for Secind chance romance...the angst is unlike any so I was invested in the story from the start. Kalyn was the girl with trouble following her every step...once Bestfriends and now enemies, Cassian is hell bent on taking his revenge...but how can you broke which is already broken?

I have no idea where to start. I finished about an hour ago and I've been here thinking that nothing I write could do it justice.
I knew this was going to be exceptional, but damn! This story completely and utterly destroyed me, im left with puffy eyes but a full heart from a story that truly touched my soul.
From the first page I was hooked, I couldn't put it down, not that I wanted to, I lived and breathed through the pages, a story that pulls you down a rabbit hole is the best.
Cassian is broody and intense, captivating and protects whats his. Im surprised his mean streak didnt burn my kindle. HOT...AF. I loved Kayln from the start, her darkness put her in a predicament that made my blood boil and my heart hurt. she's so strong willed and fiesty with a sassy persona that made me smile.
Everything about Cassian and Kayln i loved, its definitely not a book I will forget in a hurry, a story of lies, decipt, addiction friendship and love that took me on an all consuming rollercoaster ride of emotions.
Everything that dani produces has me in awe. This is an absolutely amazing read and 100% recommended.

Addiction, Lies, Deceit and Danger. This emotional rollercoaster ride has it all.
They knew each other as teenagers but one party too many and a tiny lie ruined it all for Cassian & Kalynn.
Years pass. they grow and change but it would seen the feelings they have unbeknown to the other haven't. Kalynn returns to Thorne Haven but she's not alone. She has a vile fiance in tow. I wanted to bury Pablo alive for the things he done and how he treated Kalynn. I spent most of the story wishing that when Cassian got his hands on him that's exactly what would happen.
Both Cass and Kalynn dread seeing the other, but in a small town there is just no way of avoiding it. To Cass she looks even more haunted than she did they day she left town. He and his brother Finn know something isn't right and a whole lot more is going on behind those eyes than either of them could imagine.
There are a few tough topics afoot in this installment of the Thorne Haven boys but this talented author has written them so well that you can't help but turn the pages quicker to find out if all the wrongs have been righted and if Cass & Kalynn finally get the man/woman of their dreams.

I wanted to bury Pablo alive for the things he done and how he treated Kalynn. I spent most of the story wishing that when Cassian got his hands on him that's exactly what would happen.
Both Cass and Kalynn dread seeing the other, but in a small town there is just no way of avoiding it. To Cass she looks even more haunted than she did they day she left town. He and his brother Finn know something isn't right and a whole lot more is going on behind those eyes than either of them could imagine.
There are a few tough topics afoot in this installment of the Thorne Haven boys but this talented author has written them so well that you can't help but turn the pages quicker to find out if all the wrongs have been righted and if Cass & Kalynn finally get the man/woman of their dreams.

I LOVE Dani Rene's dark books, and while A High So Sweet had topics that were dark & serious, it just hit me in the feels differently. Like I'm saying she broke me completely with Cassian & Kalyn's story, and I'm still not over it to be honest. These two were best friends since they were very young, and as they grew up, secret feelings were caught but no one copped to it. There came a time in their friendship that she lied about something destroying him in the process, then she & her family disappeared. Five years later, she's home & now Cassian can finally get the revenge he wants so much. You know, men who want revenge rub me the wrong way 99% of the time, but in this case, I didn't lose it like I normally would, probably because he wasn't that man, and once he figured out her life was worse than anything he could dish out, things changed for him. And that's all that I'm going to say about that because of the twists & turns. I also don't want to give up the emotional portion of the program because you need to feel it by experiencing the story for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dani did it again. She always finds a soft spot of mine, making me melt. I love every time she makes those sweet scenes between the MFC and the MMC, LIKE MY HEART IS LITERALLY SHAKING OF SWEETNESS!
We have Cassian (hot ✋🏼) and Kalyn (such a powerful woman). They are perfect for each other and I was hurting so bad knowing how many chances they've lost.
Kalyn is such a powerful woman. She was only a child when she was ripped away from her life. And then, she quickly became a grown-up woman, choosing everyone’s safety but hers. I was feeling so bad for her and I would've done anything to help her.
Cassian is the grumpy one, with a tiny soft spot for her. He still didn't let his guard down but he admitted his feelings and proved them when the time came.
I will never get over the gratefulness I have for this universe because he brought Dani to me. She's such a wonderful and GENUINE human and her writing style is like forcing you to keep reading. Her books are addicting and the same goes for her personality!
