Twenty-six-year-old Silver Cruz loves working on fast cars, but finding the right boy to care for eludes him. When a handsome older man’s performance ride breaks down nearby, the hunky mechanic is quick to bring his magic fingers to the rescue and get him going. Forty-two-year-old billionaire CEO Donovan Fonterra’s only friend is his wealth. So after his hot rod malfunction attracts a ripped young dude with a take-charge attitude, he can’t resist flashing the green light for some high-octane thrills. This cover sucked me in and then when I realized it was a younger Daddy/older boy stpry I was hooked! The cover got me to but it, but it was the author's truly incredible writing that just had me devouring this book page by page. The two MCs are masterfully crafted and even though I hated Donovan at first he grew on me and I came to love both he and Silver! A beautifully told story of love unexpected and complete! Adored this book!

Are you kidding me right now? Are you serious? I waited 77% for THAT joke of a sex scene?!

I’m so upset right now, guys. I’m upset because it was so good. SO GOOD. I was enjoying the characters and their chemistry, and I loved their communication.

It seemed like the whole book was them talking about their potential relationship. Don’t get me wrong, Silver was a great daddy and made sure his boy knew what kind of relationship he wanted. But it went on.

And on.

And on.

And on.

For a BDSM daddy/boy book, you’d expect there to be more heat, right? Don’t get me wrong, some parts were hot. But the Big Sex Scene, the one I was Waiting For, was so damn clinical and did nothing for me.

And as you can tell, I was very disappointed.

This was going to be a 4 star read for me. I read 77%, so I think I’m qualified to give this 2.75 stars. Rounding up to three, because I really was enjoying it! I was!!

It was too...slow. Too many corners cut. I liked that it focused on their relationship, but shit, I wanted more about Silver’s friends! His big lesbian friend with the snake tattoo! Come on guys, I need more depth.

Ugh. Big sad times over here.

I love Daddy kink, and when done well, I could just die happy. Unfortunately, it is only seldom done well. Authors love to portray subs/boys as weak men who can only manage life when in the capable hands of a Dom/Daddy, and this is a pet hate of mine, because most subs/boys are anything but the weaklings they are portrayed as. This is no exception. Donovan, the boy in this book, is the
42 year-old
CEO of a
billion dollar
architectural (!) firm,
who let his assholish Dad and and younger brother dictate his life and manipulate him to do all the work while they only profit. Yeah right. He is portrayed as a weak-willed snob but his actions does not correlate with his circumstances. That is not realistic at all.

Furthermore, his interactions with Silver for 75% of the book is mechanical, devoid of any chemistry, and I couldn't figure out what they see in each other. Things only picked up in the last few chapters, but it was not enough to save the book.

It was a miss for me, unfortunately.

I thought I'd enjoy a 26 year old domming a 42 year old but I hated it for two reasons.

1. John Solo's narration for Silver(26) is really off putting. Can't quite put my finger on why but he sounds like he's fighting a cold AND is on his deathbed. Why does an energetic young man speak like he's trying to put me in a trance? And because of reason #2, I wasn't even interested in switching to the epub version.

2. Silver himself sounds like a woo woo cult leader. He keeps talking about wanting to help Donovan(42) 'find his best self' and 'guide him through life, not just sex'.

Which would have (maybe) been fine.....if Silver's own life wasn't a mess. I couldn't connect the idea of a 42 year old billionaire CEO letting a struggling mechanic/diner employee guide him through anything.

I don't understand where he was leading him. How do you guide others to a treasure you do not possess? It's not even the broke boy aspect of it. Just....his whole life was mess. He couldn't even stand up to his exploitative boss but he's out here cosplaying leadership. 360° leadership at that.

If it was strictly sexual, maybe I'd have bought it.

Where's he leading you, Donovan and why are you following?

DNF at 61%.

Donovan Fonterra has lived his life hiding who he is while doing all the work at his family’s firm so his younger brother can chase after women and his father can drink and golf with his friends. He does all this while being harassed and belittled by the other two men in his family. I hated his family about two seconds after I met them...then he has a chance meeting with Silver Cruz, when his sports car breaks down, an unfortunate event in one way but an event that will change his life, forever. We get to take that trip with Donovan as he changes and grows under his "Papi’s" (Daddy) care. He was such a miserable man without much self-respect in the beginning of the book. He was so afraid to let himself be who he was and allowed himself to be controlled by his family.... which I was ready and very willing to kill before the third chapter. Silver allowed and encouraged him to discover who he was and allow "his boy" to grow and shine. I love Morticia Knight's work and I believe I am close to owning every word she has ever put on paper.... this was certainly not an exception. I cheered when Donovan finally stood up to his toxic father and useless brother letting them know that he would no longer endure their emotional abuse, and what a joy it was to watch how he and Silver grow and thrive as a couple. The only drawback keeping this one from getting the usual 5-star rating was the ending that came way too abruptly. Also this one had way less sex and very little of the BDSM that this author usually allows her characters. I just wanted to eat Silver up... (in a good way), for his total care and nurturing side. Overall...another great story with wonderful characters by this author. Write faster Ms. Knight. I still have empty space on my bookshelves.

I read this after the second book, which I really enjoyed. With a 20 year age-gap and an older boy, younger daddy, I had high hopes, but this really didn't work for me.

I never really connected with these two or felt any chemistry. I felt the relationship was rushed and we never got anything more than superficial interactions between the two.

Sweet MM romance

This was a sweet MM romance without any drama or angst. I enjoyed the reverse age gap. Felt a bit cheated at the end as there was no explanation for why Donovan's family had treated him bad. Also wish we had got to know Silver's backstory a bit better.

Well, let's just say it...I didn't like this. I had a hard time with the large age gap for starters. I definitely bought that Silver was the 'Papi' in the relationship, but the author just couldn't sell that Donovan was the other half of this relationship. She wrote this 42 year old all over the place and it didn't work for me.

The romance/sex/bdsm all the things this book talks about was very underwhelming. Not to mention, what the hell happened with his family??? We have to deal with his asshole of a dad and brother and then we are literally left hanging. Did he get the bid he was working on at the end? Did it work out? So many questions left unanswered.

I've never read this author before, and honestly I'm a little nervous to read more after this one. I will try another one because I like giving authors another chance to win me over.

Boy Issues is the first book in the ‘Command & Care’ series. It stars Silver Cruz, a mechanic of high-end cars, and Donovan Fonterra, a billionaire CEO. The story is told in third person from both Silver and Donovan’s pov.

I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.

I was waiting for this one to come out and looking forward to reading it. It has all my fav elements #mm #oppositesattract #DandS #DaddyandBoy #agegap The one new to me element being an older Boy but I'm always open to something new. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. 🙁

I couldn't connect to the plot. I'm just so over story lines where grown men let their parents control what job they have and the way they live their lives and even telling them they can't be gay and that they have to lie and marry a woman and they just keep quiet and take it. That's not love that's abuse and it's so overused in books and I just personally can't stand weak characters like that especially when it went on til the very end (2nd last ch,)

I also could not connect to the 2 MCs as a couple. Their relationship felt awkward and forced. I didn't feel like there was any chemistry between them and it just wasn't believable.

Donovan was definitely in desperate need of a daddy and I thought Silver was sweet and caring and protective and definitely needed a boy but I felt like they should of carried on their individual searches.

The second half of book especially the last quarter speeds way up in pace. There were so many aspects of the story that could of been expanded to better develope the plot buy they were just skipped entirely or glossed over especially when it came to Dons family and both of their careers. The repercussions of which were completely glossed over.

I would of like to see their relationship more to have it develope and evolve to feel more natural and not forced and rushed.

I was tempted to DNF a couple times but it was an arc so I powered through.

There are two things that are my crack, Age gap novels and the Daddy/boy dynamic. And Morticia delivered. Donavan in the beginning will probably run people the wrong way because of his assholishness. But give him a chance. There is insta lust with a touch of curiosity but if you love this type of book then this is a great story between two very different people.

I was given an ARC of Boy Issues by Morticia Knight for my honest opinion.

What a disappointment!

Started out great. Loved the age, economic, culture gap. Unfortunately, the last 1/3 was rushed with a lot of telling. The D/s relationship wasn't developed. The day-t0-day relationship wasn't developed. The family and job solutions were glossed over.

Initially, 5 stars but dropped to 2.5 stars.

I did not really like this. I just didn't feel for the characters that much. Silver was fine. I liked him and he at least felt like a person. But I really did not like Donovan at all. I had very little sympathy for him and his woes. Like yeah, his family were jerks and they sucked, but you're 42.....be a grown up. Fight back. Stand up for yourself. Do something. Ugh. Even the resolution is meh. He finally does something, but it was too little and it let them win any way so it wasn't satisfying for me. Their dynamic was fine I guess. But since I didn't have a ton of like and respect for Donovan it was hard for me to appreciate Silver's wanting to take care of him. Meh. I don't know.

I had so been looking forward to this book, reversed age gap is my thing, and it started out well, good build up between Donovan and Silver.
Donovan was full of anxiety and was suffering from years of verbal and emotional abuse by his family, Silver was the strong one that put him together and gave him back his confidence.

But as they started to gain trust and found their way together, the author just rushed from one to a hundred and the book was done.
It left me wanting what we didn't get to see, a settled Daddy/boy relationship.
There was plenty of loose strings and could have added a hundred pages to the book. And while I initially loved their story, suddenly doing a jump in time ruined it for me.

They have a rocky start but keep coming back to one another.
Donovan isn’t very likeable character at the beginning but you see what his struggles are and how much he truly needs Silver in his life. Their dynamic is hot and I loved them both.
I wished the epilogue was longer though!
I wanted to know more!

Silver Cruz works two jobs to earn enough money to achieve his dream of owning his own garage as soon as possible. He’s an expert mechanic with a passion for classic sports cars. Silver is just getting off work from his second job at a diner when he spots someone having car trouble on the street near where he parked his car. The Lamborghini is beautiful, and its owner Donovan is not bad looking, but comes off as way too full of himself for Silver’s liking. Beside, he always imagined himself having a younger ‘boy’ to take care of, not someone old enough to be his father. Donovan is also intrigued by the muscular Latino mechanic. He’s never met anyone who wasn’t instantly attracted to his obvious wealth. What he at first sees as a challenging conquest turns into a voyage of self-discovery that shakes up Donovan’s whole life.

“Boy Issues” tuns several standard D/s tropes on their ear, as well as challenging many other common stereotypes. Silver, being the younger, shorter, and presumably poorer man, would normally be cast as the submissive. Yet it’s rich, upper-class Donovan who needs a guiding hand. Much of the story is the process of both men, but mostly Donavan, peeling back the layers of their pre-conceived ideas about each other.

Both of the main characters are quite complex individuals, and that comes through very clear as the chapters switch points of view between Silver and Donovan. Silver is definitely a charming ‘papi’ type Dom, and like many fictional dominants, he’s almost too patient and understanding to be true, yet you really want to believe there could be guys like that out there.

Donovan is in many ways the more interesting character, in large part because he has so many issues. You really don’t want to believe that in this day there are men who feel forced by their family to stay in the closet and “keep up appearances” of being straight, even though everyone knows the truth, yet there is ample evidence that there are still plenty of examples where this is true. His turnaround, from entitled douchebag to sweet submissive, is probably a little too fast to be completely realistic but it’s a bit of literary license that’s easy to overlook.

This is the first of a new series that promises more of the same kind story lines that goes against standard stereotypes. The next volume is due out soon so you’ll be seeing the review of that book before too long.

Ay Papi!

Gotta say, I quite enjoyed this book. And I needed a book win. This proved to be just the palate cleanser I needed, and I flew through the pages.

Sure, Donovan might be the older, wealthier man, but when you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth, given anything money can buy, but told you’re worthless and any affection is withheld from you and then also expected to hide who you are at your core “for the good of the family” it’s easy to see why he’s lost.

Silver, the street smart mechanic who calls him on his antics from the word “go” is firm, fair, and can see the hurt, lost soul hiding under the arrogant facade. That he’s intrigued enough to allow himself to be vulnerable for the first time since his mother died showed promise, but there were so many hurdles to overcome.

Opposite sides of the tracks? Check. Older boy, younger Papi? Check. Family and career obstacles? Check. Fear of losing everything? Check.

The only thing that I found a tad jarring in the beginning was how frequently both heroes names came up in the first few paragraphs. I definitely recommend.

I liked this better on the second read-through, jumping from a 4 to a 5 star rating. Insecure MC's has been my thing this year, which might be why. Donovan is definitely insecure. Reading about his life made me so sad. His whole life is a lie and he's miserable, all for what? Money? It's tragic. Nothing made me happier than seeing him be true to himself through Silver's support and find happiness. Silver is a great daddy, firm but supportive. I loved my re-read of this story.

**First Time Reader** I have to say...this reversal age role play was a refreshing change to what I'm use to reading. Silver took the role as Donovan's "Papi" with so much care that you knew as a reader this was not going to be awkward at all. It was so natural. Sometimes I really forgot who was the oldest and who was the youngest. Donovan was such a broken mess with all his family issues that it was luck that Silver came into his life. Their first meeting was kind of tricky and you would never think these two people will ever come together. Donovan was persistent and Silver saw something in Donovan that called to him to be bis caregiver. These two lovely people needed each other and the entire story where they felt each other out really was sweet. Now their romance was sweet but their intimate times were HOT! The intensity of their feelings had me all in. Only sad thing was Donovan's crappy relationship with his relatives. I would have been nice if they could have reconciled some but life is not always perfect and Donovan needs positivity in his life and he got that with Silver. I really loved the ending. This was a nice m/m romance and I'm glad I took a chance to give it a shot... now I'm a fan of Morticia! Oh yeah...forgot to mention...thanks Morticia for teaching me some latino curse words...LOL

I was really looking forward to getting this book.

Donovan Fonterra has lived his life hiding who he is while doing all the work at his family’s firm so his younger brother can chase after women and his father can drink and golf with his old friends. And he does all this while being harassed and belittled by the other two men. But a chance meeting with the sexy Silver Cruz, when his fancy sports car breaks down, changes his life forever.

I really liked how we got to watch as Donovan changed and grew under his Papi’s care. He was a miserable excuse for a man whore in the beginning of the book. Afraid to let himself be who he was and controlled by his family. Silver allowed him to discover who he was and his boy to grow and shine.

The part I was disappointed was that Donovan had finally stood up to his family and their emotional abuse and I wanted to watch Silver and him grow as a couple. I wanted to see where they were going and what they were doing to achieve it. I seriously thought that his father would come begging him to come back and save the firm. But we got way to fast of an ending just as both men looked like they were going to blossom and grow.

This book had way less sex and little of the BDSM than I was expecting. I loved the care and nurturing side of Silver. I loved that Donovan had finally had it and both men were striking out and going for what they longed for both in their relationship and their careers. I just wish we would have gotten more of that part.

I really enjoyed this reverse age gap Daddy/boy story. I loved how by just being himself, Silver managed to open Donovan's eyes to the way he was behaving and made him want to be a better person. I also loved how Silver took a chance on Donovan even as it was clear that Donovan had years to build up his defenses and attitude. It was amazing to see Donovan begin to let go of the stressors weighing him down and go to Silver for comfort even when they had only a few interactions.

I would have liked to have seen a little more of their relationship building and the conversation where Silver outlined his expectations as a Daddy, but I loved seeing them moving forward and settling into a relationship. It was wonderful to see Donovan happy and moving into a new phase in his life.

I almost DNF'd this one. I should've read the reviews. I got it on kindle unlimited and it was just sitting there, I didn't even read the bio that well. My bad!

This wasn't very good. It was okay. I really disliked the writing style. I didn't like how she put the meaning of the spanish words. It rubs you the wrong way. Either commit to writing a hispanic character and let him speak or pick another character that speaks english. It was condescending.

I'm not going to pick up anything by this author again. The last series I read by her was only okay.

I read this in a day, over a few sittings. I skimmed some parts too because I was getting frustrated by Donovan and his family. Everything about them felt so unrealistic. So it was very difficult to care about him.
