This book once again proves why this is one of my consistent favorite light novel series. Kiara is trying her hardest to stop the horrors of war that she remembers from her past life when the world as an RPG, desperate to keep Reggie alive, but also attempting to come to terms with the fact that to stop war, she must fight in a war. Add in Cain's new acknowledgement of his feelings for her (which he thankfully dials back acting on when she's uncomfortable) and the fact that Kiara's defection to the good guys means that there's a different, unknown spellcaster with the opposition, and there's a good balance of action, intrigue, and respectful romance. Volumes of this just can't come out fast enough.

So far, this series has given a surprising level of consistent enjoyment! Nothing terribly remarkable occurs from volume to volume, but I always find myself undeniably addicted to the story, reading irresponsibly deep into the night.

My favorite character so far is Reggie, 100%. He has the most complex motivations, and I always find his POV interesting. I honestly wish we got alternate POVs more often than we do. Still, these novels have shown a broader character range than most light novels I've read, so I must give credit where it's due.

The story and the way it is told is much like the previous parts. I like the story, the world and the way magic works. Kiara's personality though, while believable, is grating to me or maybe it is the amount of attention her internal worries get. After all, there is something refreshing about a protagonist not okay with war and bloodshed, and about as good with dealing with people and emotions as many teenagers from a peaceful modern society thrust into a war. She is also a bit dismissive of her worries. It comes across as a bit stupid. In the end the volume left me a bit conflicted, I want to know where the story goes, but I could do with less drama.

I continue to enjoy the fact we're seeing the progress Kiara is making during this war. It's also kind of funny how she's still oblivious to the fact Cain and Reggie like her. But hopefully she'll start figuring it out soon.

Maybe it’s because I have been reading these back to back but it’s just getting to much. Like it’s battle after battle but they are always the same like nothing remarkable happens. You could literally skip over a hole battle scene and don’t even notice
