Anna

I stormed into his bar to tell this arrogant son of a bitch to keep his kid away from mine. My daughter Malia means more to me than anything else in this world. I knew before I walked in he was the leader of a notorious biker gang, but I didn’t care.

I realize far too late that going into his bar was a massive mistake. It put me directly on his radar and that’s somewhere I never wanted to be.

I came to him for one thing, to speak my mind and be done with it. Suddenly, this man is everywhere I turn and I don’t know what to think.

Riggs

I swore I’d never let myself get into another relationship after my last one ended in a catastrophic manner. The only things that’re important to me are my kid, and my club. I was happy living my life the way I have been for years. That is, until a sassy-mouthed woman walks into my bar.

Anna Miller.

The first thing out of her mouth was an insult. One interaction and the woman immediately got under my skin. Before long I’m not thinking with my head anymore. Especially as her past catches up with her.

Does she realize the lengths I’ll go to protect what’s important to me? I’m not gonna let her go without a fight.

I honestly couldn't care less about this book, these idiotic characters and how their story ends.

Such a disappointment.
Honestly, when I read the synopsis, I was excited af. It sounded just like the kind of read for me.
But the execution?

Anna, the heroine, is yet another stupid af girl who wouldn't find her own brain even if the whole search party was involved.
Right in the first chapter you get the glimpse of her blatant stupidity when she and her moron bf go pub crawling, they get drunk and then she decides she's gonna go to a bikers club and yell at the owner whose son wanted to kiss her daughter at school (the kids are bffs). He tells her to sober up and get the hell out of his club.

Enter Finn aka Riggs, our hero, the mentioned club owner. I honestly think the author had no distinct idea of how to portray his character because he was all over the place. Kinda strong but not exactly. Kinda rough around the edges but with a serious savior complex. A caring father and yet the kid is never a priority because his club always wins.
The same goes for Anna. You get the impression that her kid was just an accessory, an unnecessary baggage. She does claim her daughter is the most important thing in her life but you just don't see it. Because she seems more interested in getting heavily drunk every other night, hitting pubs with her idiotic bf and simply just having fun. Her daughter is never a priority to this dumb selfish bitch. She's always left with someone when our dumber than dumb sis goes out, ready to conquer yet another pub.
So the award for the worst mother of the year is definitely hers.
Bravo, Anna, you truly deserve it.

What's better, her ex is a mafia boss and two months prior he beat her up so much, she ended up in hospital in a critical condition. And yet, here she is, all happy-go-lucky, more than ready to jump the hot biker who doesn't give much shit about her.

Like I said, thinking, consistency, smart life decisions?
Yeah, that our dumb sis doesn't do.

We also need to add that Riggs is a manwhore. There is always his fave club whore on his lab who also sleeps by his side every night. He claims they don't fuck but they sure as hell exchange saliva every chance they get.

There was one evening when our dumb sis goes on a date and she sees Riggs kissing the mentioned bimbo. And she was convinced that they were a couple. That somehow didn't stop her from playing tonsil tennis with him that very same night. Oh, and our hero ended that night exchanging saliva and cuddling in his bed with his evil ex.
Cute, huh?
Yeah, you get that a lot in this shit show.

And you know what that deserves?

I could go on and on about these two and their incomprehensible decisions and life choices but I see no point.

What needs addressing here is the writing style, though.
It was bad.
I got the impression it was a wattpadd book. A lot of telling, not showing.
Zero emotions, zero chemistry, zero connection.
Apart from the obvious anger and disappointment, I felt absolutely nothing.
Zilch.
Nada.

Summing up, I'll just say that this was my first and probably my last read from this author.
I hated everything here.
I wanted depth, I wanted emotions, I wanted something.
And apart from the obvious frustration, I got jack shit.
That I had to pay for.
Hence the rating.

Sorry not sorry.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
==============
Zeroine lives in an abusive environment suffering physical and mental violence from her husband and continues to expose her daughter to all of this. She buries her head in the sand and ignores problems and when offered a way out, she fucks up.
Zero is very weird, he sleeps every night with a clubwhore and Zero feed her hopes for something more, he exposes his son to his ex-wife who is addicted and abusive to the child, he has an instalust with Zeroine and wants to save her, but everything goes wrong.
The ex of both Zeros are psycho.
This reading does not give good vibes.

“I said we treat OUR old ladies like queens. You’re not an old lady. You’re Reggie’s woman. I don’t need to respect you.” He pops a cigarette in his mouth. “The last I heard, he beat you so badly, you spent a week in the hospital.” He saunters past me and heads for the exit, lighting his cigarette.

“Do you kiss Reggie with that mouth?” Lake smirks. “Let’s just go,” says her friend on a sigh. “They’d never understand.” “Understand that a mob princess had the nerve to come here? I understand perfectly.”

Ziggy suddenly screeches and takes off towards the gates. He crashes into a little blonde and wraps her into a hug. Her little curls bounce from the impact and she giggles. “Malia, my daddy’s real name is Finn,” he announces, taking her hand and pulling her towards me. “He brought me to school today.”

“He’s a mob boss. He’ll always know where you are,” I point out. “He probably knows where you are the second you sign a new lease.”

ClubWhoreI shower and when I step back into my room, Bonnie, one of the club girls, is lying on my bed. It’s the same arrangement each night. She’s the only club girl I’ll have in my bed.

ClubWhore“You and Bonnie again last night?” puffs Chains, lifting the weights. “What’s that, a month at least? Are you taking her as your ol’ lady?” I shake my head. “She’s good at sucking cock, what can I say?” I snigger through the lie.

“We don’t pay them, so they’re not whores.” “Free accommodation. Free food. That’s the payment,” he points out.

“Are you bleeding?” she gasps. I nod and sit next to her. I find a tissue in my bag and press it to my lip, trying to blink away the tears that threaten to fall. “What the fuck happened? I was watching the whole time,” says Eva.

“He’s sneaky,” I mutter. “I should have listened to you. It was a bad idea to come.” “Yah think?” she hisses. “Fuck, he’s crazy.”

ClubWhoreI glance over and see a female rubbing up against Riggs with her arms wrapped around his neck. She’s part of his group. When he looks up at her, she plants a kiss on his lips, and he smiles and tucks his phone into his pocket.

ClubWhoreHe wraps his arm around her waist, and I feel disappointment creep in as I look away.

ClubWhore“One more drink and we’ll head back,” I say, and he relays it as Bonnie sets the tray on the table. She’s been glued to me all evening. I can’t exactly tell her to fuck off when she spends every night in my bed. It’s easier than explaining to the guys why I blow hot and cold with her.

ex WifeThere’s a commotion at the door that distracts me, and I spot Rock trying to block someone from getting in. I catch a glimpse of the blond and know instantly that it’s Michelle. “Fuck me,” I groan. I pass my beer to Cree and head over. “What are you doing here?”

She chews on her lower lip. “Oh my god, I let you kiss me and you have a girlfriend.” Her face is full of regret and worry. “You mean Bonnie?” I ask. “She’s not my girlfriend. She’s . . . ” I pause. What do I say, my comfort blanket? Instead, I go with, “It’s complicated.”

“I made a move and she blew me off,” I sigh. “Where’s Bonnie?” Cree laughs and slaps me on the back. “Dust yah self off and carry on. I like it.”

ex Wife“And you? Could I have you back?” Giving her false hope would be cruel, so I shake my head. “Get better for Ziggy. He needs his mum around.” Michelle scoffs. “Your mum would never let me come back here. She’d die before letting me be around for Zigg.”

ex Wife “Lay with me?” she asks, taking me by the hand and leading me towards the bed. As I strip down to my shorts, my heart hurts. Being so close to her and yet so far away brings back too many bad memories. We climb under the sheets and she lays her head on my chest. “I’m sorry,” she whispers. I wrap my arms around her and close my eyes. At least I know she’s safe tonight.

ClubWhoreI spot Bonnie coming out of Trucker’s room as I make my way down for breakfast. I do a double-take and she shrugs her shoulders. “What?” she asks. “You think I don’t need attention too?” I ignore her. The rules of the club are that any of the club girls are fair game unless a member claims them.

ClubWhoreShe swipes her cloth over the coffee table and then sighs. “Is it me?” she asks in a low voice. “I’ve been coming to your bed for weeks, but nothing ever happens. I need to know if it’s me.” I shake my head. “No. I told you before that I’m not looking for anything right now. Just the company.”

ClubWhore“But we don’t even speak. We fall asleep. It’s a little weird.” “Maybe we should call it a day. I have a lot going on right now and I don’t have the time to dedicate getting to know you properly right now. I’m sorry.”

“Well, she’s in his bed every night, but that doesn’t mean shit unless he lays claim to her,” he says. “Lay claim?” I repeat.

“Yeah. A biker usually lays claim to the girl he loves. Then she becomes his ol’ lady. Once he’s done that, they’re official. It’s like having a wife. No other brother can take her.”

ClubWhoreBonnie takes a seat on my lap, making sure to rub her ass against me. We’ve come to an understanding— she can fuck who she likes, but she spends the night in my bed. She rests back against me lazily.

ClubWhore“Pres, am I in your bed tonight?” asks Bonnie, sidling up to me on the blanket. I feel Anna glance briefly in our direction, but with Cree and Eva talking and my mum and Leia, I’m certain she didn’t hear. “I’ll let you know,” I mutter quietly. “It’s just I’m horny as fuck and I need—” I cut her off before she can finish her sentence.

“It’s always fucking busy in here. I know it sounds fucked up, but the only time I can sleep for more than an hour at a time is if someone’s sleeping next to me.” “Like a comfort blanket?” she mutters. “Maybe,” I shrug. “Who fucking knows? I just know it works, and if I don’t sleep, then this place goes to shit. I’m crazy when I’m tired.”

“Don’t do that. Don’t push me away like what we just shared wasn’t fucking hot. If that’s how hard you come from just my mouth, imagine what it’ll be like when I fuck you,” he whispers close to my ear. “You’re not the type of girl to fuck around, I hear that. But now I’ve had a taste of you, I won’t be letting you go easily.”

ClubWhoreThe cab arrives ten minutes later. I look over to see Riggs laughing with Bonnie. She’s on his lap again, and even though he’s told me there’s nothing sexual between them, I can’t stop the feeling of jealousy that drips through me when I see them looking so intimate.

“You’re kidding yourself. He’ll punish you by hurting those you love. I’m offering you protection. I’m not asking for you to share my bed or to be my ol’ lady. You won’t owe me anything. I just want to help you.”

“You realize this is all your fault?” Cree hisses at Anna. “You came into our bar and that made us a target. We don’t have a choice but to go to war with your fucking husband thanks to you because stepping down would make us look weak. You should have stayed on your own side of the tracks. But now you’re here, we have to protect you.” He pulls her to where Eva is sitting. “Look at her. This is what will keep happening if you ignore it. Now, get your shit together and come with us to the club or I will personally dump your ass back where it belongs.”

ClubWhore“Come on, Pres, let’s get you to bed,” says Bonnie. “Naked. I need skin,” he mumbles. He looks up and blinks a few times. “Anna?” “Anna,” Bonnie smiles awkwardly, “I don’t suppose you could help me get him to his room?”

ClubWhore
“I don’t have time now, Bonnie. We’ll talk tonight.” “That’s what you’ve been saying for the last few nights, and each time you fall to sleep. I want clarity. I need to know what you want,” she snaps.

ClubWhore
I rub a hand over my beard. “Shit, man, I’ve fucked up.” “Why?” “I tried it on with Bonnie the other night. Luckily, I was so drunk that I passed out, but that wasn’t before I practically begged her to fuck me.” Cree laughs hard and I groan. “It ain’t funny, brother.” “So that’s why she’s desperate to talk?”

ClubWhore
“Yeah. I reckon I said some crazy shit about trying to make things work and taking things to the next level. I’m usually so controlled and I blew it in one fucking night.”

ClubWhoreBonnie appears behind Anna and I groan. Like this couldn’t get much worse. “I’m waiting for you,” snaps Bonnie. “Do you wanna talk out here or in bed?”

ClubWhore“My life is fucking complicated, Bonnie. I don’t have time for relationships. It wouldn’t be fair to you.” “Jesus, if you’re gonna back out, at least be fucking honest,” she spits. “You’ve been eye-fucking Anna since the day she strolled into The Windsor. It’s clear you’re hot for her.” “She doesn’t feel the same way, so that’s not the issue.”

“Girls always read too much into things. She’s been sharing your bed. In her head, that made her close to becoming your ol’ lady,” she says. I pour the hot milk into a mug and hand it to her. “How did it go with Reggie?”
“Reggie’s cruel. His words, his actions, things he’d force me to do— he’s just cruel. He likes to show me that I’m not in control, he is. He likes pain, inflicting it. It gets him off,” she explains. I groan. I don’t need that image in my head.

ex Wife“Why did Michelle leave?” she adds. “I cheated on her,” I say, looking her directly in the eyes. “I cheated over and over. Broke her heart and she turned to drugs. Turns out, they made her happier than I did. Growing up in this life is hard. I watched the guys with the club whores. It’s just part of it.

“But I thought it was okay to cheat. She was pregnant and wasn’t interested in sex. I stupidly thought that mattered. Fuck, I was such an ass.”

“I don’t fucking want Bonnie. Anna, I love you,” I blurt out. “Just you.” I sigh. Anna stares at me. A range of emotions passes over her face. “Don’t make me sleep alone,” I add.

“Who do you think you are? You come along and think you can just take over and change the rules. You’ve been here two fuckin’ minutes and you’re making decisions about my kid?”

“Oh, don’t worry, I know you hate to talk. I think you’ve made yourself perfectly clear. All the picnics, the lazing around in the sun, the movie nights, all of those things this last week have meant nothing because we’re just fucking, right?!”

I shake my head. “Yah know what, Cree, I don’t think it’ll work between us. I love her. How mad is that? I haven’t known her long enough for that. We need to get this done with Reggie. Since those girls came into our lives, we’ve been fucking up all over the place. We’ve waited too long as it is because I’ve had my head full of her. Let’s call church in an hour and put a plan together.”

“I really like him, and he just threw everything in my face. I was the one who kept my distance and he convinced me we were worth the risk. I’ve watched him with Malia this week and it’s given me hope. Hope that we could be happy, all of us as a family.”

I stand by Michelle’s bed, watching her chest move up and down. A small part of me wishes I could love her like I used to. Maybe that would be enough for her to stay clean. But deep down, I don’t trust her, and I can’t put Ziggy through it all again.

“You know the guys are calling you Riggs’ ruin, right?” he asks, and I laugh. “Because you’ve ruined me for every other woman out there. There’s no one who comes close to you, Anna. Marry me?” He drops to one knee and I laugh nervously.

It had potential. I hate when a character (H) says something and do the opposite. This is a weak character. 😟

2.5 I’m rounding up cuz it was free ⭐’s

This is the first book of the King’s Reapers MC series which features a British motorcycle club similar to her Perished Riders MC series in that they are somewhat trying to shutdown “worse” criminals (traffickers, heavy drug dealers- work with the mayor) but these guys are a bunch of cheating-ish manwhore assholes (similar to her Splintered Hearts MC)… with that said… I believe this one might be the only one safe from OW shenanigans. There’s OW drama, but Riggs isn’t screwing them, and you won’t have to read about it.

Riggs meets Anna when she drunkenly stomps into his bar to confront him about his son playing with her daughter at nursery school. I know a lot of reviewers thought Riggs was a dick, and he’s no peach, but I have to say that Anna put me off when she barged in intoxicated, insulted him, and proceeded to take the higher moral ground when she in fact is married to a mobster. Then immediately got her feelings hurt when he was offended and gave it back to her. Now she tried to back track and say it was for his son’s wellbeing, but we as the reader had already listened to her judgey rant earlier in the chapter…. So, these two lost me from the start, and I struggled with both mc’s throughout.

First, Riggs actions towards the h and his loyalty towards the women in his life didn’t always make me “feel” like Anna was his forever girl. Case in point, towards the end Anna and another are both in danger and I got to say I felt like he was a smidge more concerned about the other. 🤷‍♀️

Now Anna, I found her annoying and confusing. Overlooking her TSTL decisions, (her BFF is WAY more competent, so I have higher hopes for her book) her outspoken “feisty” attitude didn’t jell with her putting up with her ex and continuing to put her daughter in that dangerous situation.

Bottom Line- Just ok for me. I would label it trashy romance. It’s drama-driven rather than logically developed… no digging deep or real feels. The ending was rushed and not completely cleaned up.

minor spoiler included in the review! メ

Blurb seemed very interesting and the book did start out well but...*sighs

The ML is a player. He hangs-out with Bonnie and his ex even after kissing Anna. I don't appreciate that in my romances.

Anna's character is very weak. I know she's been through a trauma & it's amazing that she came out okay and is doing well. But she's a doormat. She doesn't stand up for herself.
Plus, there's a scene where she spots Bonnie getting comfy on Riggs' lap, which makes her feel jealous and sad. But almost immediately, Riggs turns up at her place and kisses her. She smiles, and suddenly everything is okay.

What the actual heck?!

No rating for me:( Personally I didn't care for it and ended up skipping to the end...not sure why but it was not my cuppa tea for sure. The writing and storyline for me was lacking depth as well as characters.

Fantastic start for a new series

Anna and her daughter Malia now live one the Kings territory. When Ziggy a little boy from Malia's school tells her he wants to kiss her and make her his ol' lady, Anna wants to speak to his father.

Well her and her Best friend Ava run into Riggs at his bar. The tension between the two is HOT.

This book has a little of everything, danger, violence, drugs, beatings, etc. But hey let's not forget the swoon worthy sexy bikers. I can't wait for Cree!

This book had potential, however that potential was lost when the author continuously allowed the female characters to play the victim and then did nothing to change this behavior. It is possible to have women that have gone through horrible situations, yet come out the other side as a survivor and not a victim. I wish the author would show survivors and not people that continue to live in the victimhood mentality. There is no growth and they make for bad role model's for children.

I feel like it could’ve been good, could’ve been better but it just wasn’t. Riggs I didn’t like at all. He was so annoying. Like, make up your melons man, Bonnie? He sleeps naked in bed with her because he can’t fall asleep alone. He continues to do that even though he’s told Anna the FMC to trust him because he doesn’t get with Bonnie like that, only for him to get drunk, beg Bonnie to fuck him because Anna was truthful with him about her worries in regards to getting into a new relationship while she hasn’t gone through a divorce with her abusive ex and he got all butt hurt over it. He has no boundaries this guy. Riggs is just a dumbass.

This whole book was a bit of a mess 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cute

This book was a cute read with a lot of angst and some dark subject matters. At this moment I don't feel the need or maybe the correct word is "interested" in reading the remaining books in this series at this time.. Maybe, I will in the future pick it back up and hopefully at that time I'll be in a better mood to appreciate this book series. As for now I'm off to find a new adventure/love triangle to fall into.. Wish me luck! (fingers crossed) ;)

Riggs has a messed up ex-baby mama, a cute son named Ziggy, a great mom, and a good group of MC brothers that surround him. He's a bit messed up from his days with his ex and what she put Ziggy through.

Anna has a nasty mobster husband, an adorable daughter named Malia, a really good BFF- Eva, and mostly a good head on her shoulders.

I loved Ziggy and Malia, but felt cheated on not having much of them in the story. Especially how cute they were to start off with. Who can resist a cute 5 year old when he tells the girl he wants to kiss her and for her to be his Ol' Lady! Too stinking cute. I wish more would have happened with their friendship that we could see.

I liked Anna and Riggs together. I even liked how they skirted around each other for a time. However, it got a bit old when his ex- Michelle, or the club girl-Bonnie, would be around and throw themselves on him. Especially after he states he wants Anna, and his feelings for her, yet Bonnie was up on or around him- or sharing his bed to sleep still. I was over that drama...even though Michelle's drama was more so for other reasons- and not to just throw herself on Riggs. It actually added to the story, or so I think. The parts with Bonnie after awhile were frustrating.

Riggs could be an idiot with his words at times- which makes Anna do a very idiotic thing. I get why, still, it shouldn't have happened. Which leads to us seeing abuse and forced sex moments dealing with Anna's abusive mobster husband.

Overall, I liked the story, the characters, the drama..... and it was a good start to a new MC. However, I was not okay with the forced sexual moments, or abuse, and wish we hadn't seen all of that- and maybe just knew it happened but moved on? I'm not sure how to state that properly. My other wish was to have had Anna and Riggs together more- not always fighting and sexing, and more with their cute kids. I needed the adults here to build a better family/relationship together- not to be fighting and be separated so much.

I was enjoying the somewhat complex attraction and buildup between MC Pres Riggs and single mom Anna until just before the fifty percent mark where Anna becomes bonehead stupid as she lost most of her credibility in being a worthwhile heroine. Hard to respect her character, judgement, and intelligence when she kept on resisting Riggs’ help with her murdering abusing mobster husband.
Her sweet five year daughter had no idea her father was a malicious evil murderer and Anna continued to be his victim as she kept denying that her Inactions were causing the violence around her. Very very frustrating.
After the sixty percent mark, Anna started to wise up but Michelle, Ziggy’s mom, took over the lame brained and stupid by leaving the protection of the club and taking Ziggy with her.
How many boneheaded women were needed to add contrived frustrating drama to this otherwise well written emotion filled romance?
If not for the author creating these stupid women, this would have been a five star read for me.
I have to admit the fast paced scenes at the end were masterfully done as Anna’s backbone finally showed through despite being a victim to Reggie once again.
An ending that happened a bit abruptly but was no less satisfying after their long and tortuous journey.

Anna Miller for reasons only known to liquid courage decides she is going to storm into the Kings Reapers MC bar and give Riggs a piece of her mind. She and her daughter are trying to start over after a bad marriage and she knows time is ticking before she has to move again which means she is sparing Riggs son who has a strong attachment to her daughter.

Riggs cannot believe Anna came busting in his bar throwing her sass. He should be furious but he finds himself intrigued. Anna is weary about getting involved with Riggs but when she is threatened by her ex, Riggs steps in. Its only inevitable that they give into their feelings for one another but can he keep her safe?

3.75 I liked the chemistry between Anna and Riggs but it is a bit more dark then I was expecting and had a twist that was difficult to read. Overall great new series, has a few triggers though that might make readers uncomfortable.

It wasn't a horrible story but I found myself skimming rather than consuming. There was a bit of insta love on Rigg's part that seemed completely out of the blue, and Anna was frustrating with her decision making skills.

I dunno it wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything that blew my socks off either.

Riggs' Ruin was my first read by Nicola Jane and it was a solid MC read that combined the romance I love and the serious nature of the biker world. Anna got ensnared by a guy named Reggie who was actually a crime lord. He trapped her and controlled her for quite a while. She has made a home for herself and her daughter in a part of London that isn't under Reggie's thumb. It is however, under the rule of the Kings Reapers. When her daughter comes home from nursery school telling her that her best and only friend Ziggy wants to kiss her and make her his old lady, she decides to have a chat with his dad. He also happens to be the president of the Reapers. Things escalate and both are trying to fight the attraction they feel without much success. When Reggie decides he wants his wife back, will Riggs be able to hold onto everyone that matters to him? I really enjoyed this read, although Anna bugged me a little with her attitude at times. It was completely understandable that she didn't want to get involved with another dangerous man when her ex was more than enough to deal with. Riggs was also a bit of a dumb guy but again, completely understandable. I think that is what made this such a fun read. They are portrayed in a completely real way, so that you can love them and want to kick them in the butt for being a numbskull at the same time. I cannot wait to read the next book, about Riggs' VP Cree and Anna's bestie Eva!

What do you get when you have a sexy, gruff, alpha-hole hero and a beautiful, smart, determined heroine who is trying to reclaim her life? A new series by Nicola Jane, that's what!
Riggs Ruin is the first book in her new Kings Reapers MC series and it does NOT disappoint. I love that the characters are flawed. They make mistakes, they lose their tempers and say things they don't mean. But they grow and learn and don't give up.
I wanted to go out and have drinks with Anna and Eva, I wanted to slap Riggs when he did or said something stupid. I laughed at the antics of the club guys. The entire time I was reading I was totally engrossed in the story and the characters. Fantastic start to a new series!

Anna and Riggs is a highly emotional, action packed read full of twist and turns and will have you breathless. Anna hiding from her ex and finds Riggs one when she has something to say about their kids playing together. What happens when her ex finds and takes something that belongs to Riggs? Will Riggs be able to save both of what he holds dear or will the bad guy win? Absolutely amazing read that had me guled to my Kindle wanting to see what happens. I had tears in my eyes and my emotions where all over the place. Can't wait to read the next.

The synopsis for Rigg's Ruin really sounded adorable! Who doesn't love a story with kids and their parents falling in love, making their own family. Aww.

Unfortunately that isn't what this book was at all. Malia and Ziggy, their kids, were barely present. Sometimes I forgot they existed or I kept wondering where they were when all the stupid shit was going down. Who leaves their kid with people they barely know to go get licked out in the bathroom?!

But this was just not my cup of tea at all. It was a hot mess. I disliked Anna and Rigg's as characters and as a couple.
Rigg's - I mean I don't get why he even wanted Anna considering he was always being rubbed up on by Bonnie, the club whore and Michelle, his junkie ex. He didn't seem to mind either of them all over him all the time. It was disgusting how he was "trying" to pursue Anna but still letting Bonnie sit on his lap or sleep with him at night and showcasing it to Anna. Like... WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU! He declares his love for Anna pretty much just after telling Bonnie he wants to be inside her! SO GROSS.
There is no way in hell I would go anywhere near a guy who had women hanging all over him like that. Especially if I had the same hang ups and trauma as Anna should have and I certainly wouldn't be letting him into my daughter's life if I wasn't sure he was serious about me.
Rigg's treated Anna terribly. I felt he was just a complete bulldozer. He just demanded and controlled her in the name of "protection" PUH-LEASE! He always put everyone else ahead of her. He did everything wrong with her. I felt like his junkie ex got more understanding and softness from him than Anna did. When the ex does something wrong, he goes ballistic at Anna??
When Rigg's first meets Anna, he knows who she is and her past with his enemy, Reggie. He knows her ex used to beat her and he laughs when one of his men bring it up. I was appalled!

Anna - I don't think I've read a character more who wasn't thinking clearly ever. I didn't agree with one thing she did. And I find that really difficult as a reader. I have to be able to put myself in their shoes but I just couldn't with Anna.
I did sympathise with her trauma but there was something off in how she dealt with Reggie. She was scared of him but also used to him. I guess I wanted her to have fight a little more or be smarter when dealing with him instead of surrendering to Reggie all the time. But also with Riggs too. Both men just walked all over her. They got their way and that was final. And if she did try to stand up for herself then she was "feisty" and no one took her seriously.
I also felt like when dealing with Reggie she didn't think what she was putting her daughter through. She spent so much time living in denial. What was her plan for when the month was up and his probation was over? She moved a lot but ends up at the next suburb over? What if Reggie killed her, then what happens to her daughter?

Riggs and Anna weren't really together at all. Their relationship was a sad mix of jealousy, avoidance, animosity, fighting and sex. I didn't feel anything with them. No bond, no spark and no love.

I wish I was more curious about Cree and Eva... I might give their story a chance.

I wasn’t a fan of either characters. From reading the book description, I thought Anna was going to be a badass but she couldn’t be more of a doormat. I felt like there was no sass at all when she went up to Riggs in the bar.

There was something about Riggs that I didn’t like either and I can’t figure out what it is. I mean I definitely didn’t like that he had someone sleeping in his bed every night because he apparently can’t get any sleep unless there’s someone sleeping next to him. He even let his ex sleep in his bed. And he’d kiss another girl even after he started to kiss/pursue Anna or whatever. But he also admitted to cheating on his ex with club whores so there’s that.

He was… just exhausting. When he was angry he was always blaming her “Why don’t you ever just talk to me first? You make these stupid fucking decisions and for what?” he yells. “You cause me more trouble!” Like, she didn’t ask for you to go to war for her. That’s all on him. If she wanted to be a fucking doormat, then let her be a doormat.

I don’t know, I wish there were more to the characters rather than them always fighting and having sex. I wanted to see them as parents with both of their children and all of that. I wanted to see their connection and chemistry but I felt like it fell short on that. The only thing I really loved about this book were the kids, Ziggy and Malia.

I also couldn’t help but to laugh when Riggs said “MC club” because MC stands for motorcycle club…

I wasn’t planning on reading the rest of the series but I am intrigued by Cree and his book reviews seems to have a higher rating so I think I’ll give it a try and see if I will continue on with this series.

Nothing to rev your engine

Does NOT take place in the USA. THIS IS A UK BASED MC CLUB!
This book did not produce any magic or anything to draw me in as a reader.
So far this year this heroine is attempting to take 1st place in the TSTL Heroine of the year awards.
Her actions were self centered and beyond moronic. How could she not see things clearly like the boy that was murdered was related to the guy she just went on a date with so it was obviously her ex who called that hit. I mean, ding ding ding....you know your psycho ex? Forget about him? Her choices were so blatantly self serving and without intelligent thought. She also has a daughter. How could you ever think if your ex can beat you almost to death that he wouldn’t one day turn on your child?
She also was not receptive to the H, Riggs in this story. Very hot and cold. Zero romance IMO thanks to her being a cold fish.
The H also has a five year old son. The mom is a junkie, who became a junkie after they got together. He did love her at one point and still obviously cares for the mom of his kid. There’s a paragraph in this book that makes you think, oh he still loves her, If she wasn’t a junkie they would probably still be together thoughts. This doesn’t make for a happy romance IMO.
This was my first try of this authors work. There was a lot of potential that could have been snatched up, but unfortunately this read fell flat for me.

I try not to give poor ratings without at least explaining why, but there is so much to explain with this book that it's exhausting. I'm going to hit the highlights.

1. Reading about the decisions the heroine makes was like watching a B horror film from the 80's. The lone girl walks down the stairs to the basement, by herself, after her friends are being killed one by one. You're screaming don't go down there and she just keeps walking. Her ex puts her in critical condition and she still meets him in the park. She makes a decision to go back to her ex believing he will honor her "deal" when he's never honored a thing in their relationship. Now for the piece de resistance... said with sarcasm... when her husband is raping her, she says "it's not really rape because we're married, even if I don't want it." At this point I thought, you might be too stupid to live.
2. The hero was a joke. I think he was suppose to come off as Billy Badass, but he needs to platonically sleep with a club girl skin to skin so he can sleep. He leaves his kid, ex wife and lover, whose married to another, held captive for days, while he's "forming" a plan. His miracle plan just magically clicks all in place and viola he saves the day.
3. The MC is working with the cops.... I threw up a little in my mouth. You don't get to call yourself a strong, drug running club of bikers and work with cops.

......... and everyone lived happily ever after........

3.5 stars.

I liked the story and it had a lot of potential. I liked the beginning a lot but I just got lost at the end. This is likely more of a personal preference though in characters and heros.

I didn't like the main characters. Anna was ungrateful and TSTL, and Riggs was super wishy washy. He is emotionally connected to too many women, he seems to get drunk and beg women to sleep with him, or be easily swayed by his ex-wife... The fact that he broke out his ex-wife but left Anna just annoyed me. Maybe I'm too into the OTT Alpha but he keeps allowing her to be used by this guy and walking away without rescuing her and a lot of the book he seems more concerned with protecting other women than he does the heroine. I didn't feel the chemistry, honestly it seemed like he was emotionally weak.

I'll read the next one though because the stories interested me and the writing was well done. Maybe different characters will be what I need.

I couldn't finish it. The heroine is a pushover who let's others dictate her life. And I don't just mean her dangerous, abusive, husband. Friend wants to go out, even the h says no, friend brings her mom to babysit. For every thing, like going on a date ect her husband punishes her with break ins, killing the dates nephew... But the h doesn't see it. She doesn't accept the danger she is in and brings on everyone she meets.
I mean either go back or leave & hide and not just to the other side of town🙄...
Don't get me started on the H. While showing interest in the h, he makes out with a club girl, let her sit on his lap after going down on the h and wonders why she isn't happy about his advances? The club girl HAS TO sleep in his bed... Who wants to date someone, who's bed is already full (like, no tonight the h sleeps here, but when she's at her home you need to sleep here again😂). And than the whole mother of his kid cluster fudge....

Sorry, but this isn't a book for me.

Wow! What a way to start off a series! This is my first book by this author. I will be checking out more of her work. This book is about the Kings Reapers MC. This is about Anna and Riggs. They both are very stubborn and will do anything to protect those they love. They have pasts that still effect them in their day to day life. Can they get past their demons and open their hearts? Is a HEA possible for them? You will have to check out the book to discover the answers. No spoilers allowed. I love seeing their story evolve seamlessly. I felt like I was right there. My emotions were all over the place. I loved the push/pull and bantering of these two. I didn't want to put the book down.
