Cocker Brothers #5

Justin Cocker

Rate this book
Six Brothers you'll want to marry or hide under your bed.
Tap Tap Tappity Tap Tap. I'm at a crowded airport tapping red fingernails on unforgiving wood. Leaving everything I've built in Boston behind me. Hence the booze before noon on a Tuesday. When out of the blue... Justin Cocker slides onto the bar stool next to mine. More gorgeous in real life than on TV. Does he recognize me? Nope. He should. We sat next to each other in high school. "I know a janitor's closet that locks." My eyes steel with shock. We are in public. You'd think a lady would turn down such an offer, right? Not today she wouldn't.

Cocky Senator
(Cocker Brothers of Atlanta #5)
By Faleena Hopkins
Wow- Another fabulous Cocker Brothers book!
This story definitely captures your attention from the beginning, & does not let up…Imagine finding yourself in a airport bar & the stranger next to you is flirting with you.. And you actually take them up their flirtation. Public sex not once, but twice on a trip from Boston to Atlanta...
Now that I have your curiosity Peak.. Let me wake up your senses
You think ok that you'll never see this person again right? Well guess what these two people have more in common than you realize. First off they went high school together. .. One realize this.. The other doesn't
Second thing that might wake up your imagination or curiosity even more is.. one of these people is the current Senator's daughter other person is running for that same position... talk about conflict of interest

These two people find them self’s on campaign for election trying to control the sexual desires for each other. Which is very hard, since both seem to have control issues when it comes to the other one
Justin Cocky find out something so devastating that puts his career & dreams at risk… what will he end up doing?
This book has its usual comedy that we find with Faleena Hopkins, we also find the arrogance of Cocky alpha males, which we love… but we also find some very interesting twisted in the road

Each book can be read as a Standalone.. But honestly I have no clue why you’d do that. There might be 6 brothers, but each & every one of them has their own unique personality .. You will realize as you meet each one… I can't wait to read the next Cocker book” Cocky Soldier”, But at the same sense I can wait ,cuz that means this series will come to the end

**"I voluntarily reviewed this ARC" ..**
**In exchange for an honest review ..**

I recommend this book & this series

1- Cocky Roomie- Jake
2- Cocky Biker- Jett
3- Cocky Cowboy – Jaxson
4-Cocky Romantic- Jason
5- Cocky Senator –Justin..**
6- Cocky Soldier
7-A Honey Badger X-mas

It feels like I've read nothing but misses lately. This is another book that I had to push myself to finish.

Justin is your typical manwhore. He meets Jaime, they have a hot one night stand but he is 100% not looking for a relationship or any meaningful connection. It's just sex for him. He admits that Jaime is hot and he liked their smexy encounter but he doesn't plan to pursuer her or even get her name. He is a one and done kind of guy.

Also he is running for senator. It just so happens that his opponent is Jaime's estranged father. Things get even more awkward when Justin finds out that he has a daughter he never knew about. I found it a bit disturbing that he claims to only do ONS but the mother of his four year old was someone he slept with multiple times, so not a ONS. Then the author gives us the little detail that this not ONS was in love with the H but because of their friends with benefits status, he wouldn't want to know about the baby?!?! The only reason the H finds out about his child is because this OW died unexpectedly and the sick grandmother can't care for the baby (she has cancer and only has like six months to live.)

So while all this surprise baby thing is happening, Jaime decides to make herself indispensable for the new daddy, even though he basically wrote her off. She helps him shop, clothe and feed the new addition. As friends, because the H still doesn't want to pursue anything with her. Finally after a lot of time together, they fall into a friends with benefits thing, where Jaime spends all her free time with him and his kid, basically playing the part of mother and wife without benefit of the ring, putting her life on the back burner while giving him all her energy and attention.

This went down hill for me because I feel that if there had been no surprise baby, Justin never would have gone after Jaime. He would have stayed focused on becoming Senator and gone on living his bachelor lifestyle.

Even with the baby, it's Jaime that goes looking for him. She's the one that drops everything to help him and offer him support. It felt like she was just an easy convenience for him. When he excludes her from his family get to gather and she's clearly upset, he just cops out. I need an H that doesn't wait until 88% into the book to get his head out of his butt.

The explanation as to why he has an aversion to commitment and marriage in particular has to do with him witnessing his father having an affair (he cheated on his mother with their neighbor's wife) and out of love for his mom, he kept it a secret for 20+ years. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since his heart to heart talk with his mother reveals she knew about the affair and forgave her husband of cheating. She never tells his father that she knew about the affair, instead she defends his cheating because she was a frigid catholic and he was a man with needs. Instead she decides to throw out her rigid beliefs on sex and seduce her husband back. Now that she can offer him what he was getting outside their marriage, the cheating stopped and he was never the wiser. I don't care if she has hang ups about sex, the fact is he was a married man. Vows are vows are vows. Then she goes to claim some BS that it made them stronger and more in love. How? Because her husband got his cake and ate it too? Ugh, I know this isn't about them but the fact it was made this big part of the H's commitment phobia pissed me off. Cheaters just suck and I don't enjoy reading about them, even in a round about way.

This was another romance fail for me.

One night of passion for Justin Cocker and Jaimie Rothdale will end up something more. Jaimie is on her way to see her Dad in Atlanta when she is spotted in the bar by a Cocker Brother. Jaimie recognizes Justin from school but seems he doesn't recognize her and they have wild passionate sex. When they arrive in Atlanta, they go their separate ways thinking that they won't see each other ever again, but fate has a different plan up her sleeve. Justin is running for the Senate seat and wants Senator Rothdale to retire. Jaimie has been asked by her father to help him on the campaign. When the pair spots each other, it is the start of a love/hate relationship. What will happen though when while in the campaign race, Mr. Carefree Bachelor Justin is told he has a five-year-old daughter. Will he step up to the plate and try his best to become a father to Hannah or will he turn his back on fatherhood to continue to pursue his dream as Senator Cocker? When he makes his choice, it starts to open the door to other possibilities but is Justin willing to change his ways to be happy or will he be the Cocky and Stubborn one? Cocky Senator was a political romance and was the type of book that you don't have to think about as you know already how the book is going to go and end which makes it an easy and relaxing read. I have the other Cocker Brother books, so I am looking forward now to reading the other brothers stories.

I did have this at a 4 stars but after hearing that this author is trademarking the word COCKY and harassing other authors I am now giving every book I've previously read by this author a 1. That is not cool, and quiet frankly a dick move!

This is a silly, popcorn book and a 2 star read. Except, it provided moving insight into the way people develop romantic relationships based on their parental relationships and the way their parents conducted themselves in romantic relationships. This was personally resonant, gratifying, and educational. It made me reflective and helped me to see myself. Thus, two stars becomes three.

DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING & FIERY PASSIONATE ROMANCE

Justin is charming and highly intelligent when it comes to politics but when it comes to love not so much keeping the chains that surround his heart locked. Justin finds pleasure in the arms of many women making them no promises of commitment. On his way home from Boston he meets a stunning sassy woman at the airport bar. Jaimie is leaving her home in Boston, moving to Atlanta to help her dad with the Senate race in Georgia, not knowing that Justin is running against her dad. The two have electrifying lovemaking before the flight to Atlanta which catapults them into a wild heartfelt road to a happy ending.

Fast past and fabulously written the author has given readers a thrilling fun story that keeps you turning pages until the end. Witty dialogue, breathless scene descriptions, a few surprises and a cast of engaging characters help you visualize and feel this story. Justin goes through many life-changing moments trying to sort out new found desires, needs and wants. Justin loves his family and their support offers much-needed guidance. Meeting Jaimie is the best thing that happened to Justin as she is most certainly his perfect match; their romance is far from boring and it is filled with much adoration, fun, fiery passion and their ending is deliciously sweet. I relished this most gratifying read. If you treasure fantasy romance, this is a terrific book for your library. In a world of fantasy romance, the magic begins with the first thought to paper. {This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy}. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

I'm loved it but.....

I loved it but I really didn't enjoy how long it took Justin to pull his head out of his rear.... Started off really, really HOT!!! Then a twist I didn't see coming took the story in a slightly different direction and made it easier for Justin to bring Jamie into his life, while I loved the twist,I came to resent Justin's stubbornness that bordered on stupidity, watching a man be stupid is never fun unless it's the kinda thing you'd see my n I he those crazy video shows ;)
Loved Jamie she was amazing and sweet but what I loved most was her honesty w/both herself and with Justin, they had great chemistry, only draw backs were his stubborn stupidity and wasn't a fan of their last sex scene where suddenly their sex had a BDSM type flavor it hadn't had any other time in the book...
Starts off her wanting to tie him up ( w/his ties) ( I was all Wooooo
Hoooooo!!! Over it!! Yeah Baby!! Let the woman be in charge for once!!!) and next thing I know she's one tied up and it's all this "Sir this and Sir that" something that we hadn't had before and for me it was soo been there done that in toooo many books to
count ,out character for the story and left a stale taste for something that HAD felt soo fresh....
Please leave the faux BDSM crap alone,it's beyond been there done that any more and while these two were fierce and passionate and a little wild, this Sir nonsense wasn't them ;(

I just don’t know how to put into words how much I love this series and this Cocker family! In my opinion each book keeps getting better and better. From the previous books, I have to be honest I didn’t love Justin as much as his brothers and I was wondering if he was going to be able to settle into a happily ever after like the other Cocker boys have so far. That being said, I couldn’t wait to devour this book and when it arrived in my in-box, it absolutely made my weekend!

Justin has had his sights set on the Senate for as long as he can remember. His whole life has been tailored to that one specific goal. Although he’s from a huge, very close family, he keeps to himself more than the others. He’s closest with his twin Jason, but lately there is some distance even between the twins. Jason has settled down with a wife and baby on the way, while Justin is still vehemently opposed to having a girlfriend, never mind ever having a wife. He doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t do attachments and has no plans to ever have a wife or god forbid kids of his own.

Well, Justin met his match in the Boston airport bar. Well, he actually met her long before that, but he never noticed her as an awkward, style-less teen sitting in a desk next to him. He sure notices her now. The smart, sexy, flirty banter between Justin and the mystery woman is so funny and so Justin. Ever the smooth talker, he somehow ends up spending his last few moments in the boarding lounge locked in a janitor’s closet with Jaimie (although to him, she is a nameless beauty to spend a few moments with).

Jaimie knows exactly who Justin is and it’s a teenage dream come true, she just doesn’t realize how much of him she’s going to be seeing in the upcoming months…since he’s going to be running against her father for Senate.

They continue to cross paths and although he warns her that he can never offer anything more than sex, she can’t resist the passion they share and they continue to steal insanely sexy moments together. When she realizes that she may be starting to have some actual feelings for this confirmed bachelor, she panics and goes into self-preservation mode. She says some absolutely awful things that stun Justin, but really it was just a taste of his own medicine. I admit it – I cried. It was gut-wrenching. But it had to happen.

When Justin’s entire world gets flipped upside down, he realizes that the first person he wants to call for support after his twin, is Jaimie. Even though they had fought and parted ways, when she heard the desperation in his voice, she dropped everything to help him.

Jaimie helps Justin adjust to his new life and falls more in love with him every day, but Justin holds out until the bitter end. He refuses to open his heart to the possibility of a future. He’s jaded and he has his reasons, but thankfully after many heartbreaking moments, he realizes that life is better with Jaimie in it. Cue the Cocker family BBQ. :)

This book is funny, sweet, SO sexy, heartbreaking and just perfect. I can’t even talk about the best part without spoiling it, so you just have to read it! And if you haven’t read the first few books in the series, I highly recommend those too! You can’t go wrong with a Cocker brother.

Wow Love This Book!!! November 20, 2016

This review is from: Cocky Senator (The Cocker Brothers of Georgia) (Volume 5) (Paperback)

I voluntarily reviewed this book as an ARC. This is the fifth cocker brother that I have read over the past few weeks. This story is very endearing and wonderful how two people can meet and immediately recognize a connection like no other and then build from it. Justin, who is the ultimate player has met his match with the beautiful and confident Jaimie. Justin, a very intelligent man with a Yale law degree, very handsome and overly confident, finally has to struggle with his demons of the past to realize love and happiness for his future. This story really has you involved in both of their lives and hoping for the best for each of them. While Jaimie struggles to stand her ground and really find a man wanting her for true love. She has her own past to heal from and she stands her ground with Justin really focusing on what she really wants for herself emotionally. Such a strong and scary moment for her. Justin tries to run because of something from his past which fills him with anger and with fear. As time progresses the story unfolds with a couple of surprises that rock your world and you amazingly adore the man that Justin becomes and how strong Jaimie becomes as well. Out of all of the brothers so far, he's has had to dig the deepest to move forward. The emotions so foreign to him are so well described that you really wish you could give him a hug. The most intense and wonderful moment was when he spent some time with his mom. Such a great demonstration of love for your children. It makes your heart break. Also as with any cocker story you have the relationships with his twin and other brothers. Love how close they are and how they support each other. I know this is a stand alone with possibly reading Jason's story first but personally if you have read the first 4 you understand more the dynamics of the order of brothers and the different relationships that they have. I would definitely recommend reading the others as well as they are all great stories.

As with any of the cocker books, the final chapters and the ending of the book is so sweet and defining of what close family is all about and what true love is all about. Faleena out does herself again with wonderful descriptions of each character that you feel you know after reading each story. She reminds us of real life and what surprises it can hold for us. With a little determination, self reflection and yes, love, along with a solid family with their own pasts, they can still rally around you and help you heal no matter what. Well Done Faleena. Would recommend this book as well as the first 4 to any reader. Thanks for the love.

I won't bore you with a long synopsis of Justin's and Jaimie's story as I'm pretty sure that you probably know it by now. You wanna know if it's worth your time and money to invest in reading this book. If you'll be entertained or be able to "escape from it all" for a time. So here's my take on it...
As I'm sitting, writing this review, I'm stunned by the fact that Ms Faleena Hopkins has done it to me again! I just started and finished reading "Cocky Senator" in record time without breaks, knowing fully that I would suffer from lack of sleep the next day and I did it anyway! Why'd I deprive myself from much needed sleep you ask? Because Ms Hopkins has a way about writing a story that captures your attention and you just have to finish it (like that last two scoops of rocky road ice cream in your freezer that's been taunting you all night).
The internet is saturated with authors that are missing that gift, the gift of emersing your readers so deeply in a story that they don't want to leave...ever.
I seriously hope that more books are on the horizon for her. That the Cocker family is as large as the Cocker brothers themselves ;)
I am definitely a fangirl of Ms Hopkins mad skills and fervently wish that she not only continues writing but expands her talents to different genres as well. I will be watching and waiting for the next book out for sure!!!

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily agree to leave an honest review.

Justin is my favorite Cocker brother! I have to say Justin's story was not what I expected. It was better! I love Justin's passion! He always knows what he wants. I also love Jaimie. She knows who she is and she is not afraid to stand for what she believes. She is not afraid to be sexy.
I have always known that Justin was one you could rely on. I learned this in the previous books from this series. However, in this book he truly shines. His passion for work, for family, and for love. He gives whole heartedly. Even when he is angry, he will put time in to see the situation from all angle's.
I fell in love with his character when he pulled out of the election without a second thought to what it was going to do to him.
I was also glad to learn about Mrs Cocker. She truly is a strong woman. Her story helped the brother's see things differently about their father and their mother.
I was also glad that Jett was at the family BBQ. Nice touch, especially since Mr. Cocker didn't make a scene about it.
I am anxious to read about Jeremy- he asked Justin a particular question that makes me wonder what more is going on than just military related.

Another Cocker Brother wins my heart! I voluntarily reviewed this book as an ARC and I am happy to be on team Faleena!. This is the best one yet -- of course, I say that about all of the Cocker brothers. Justin and Jaimie (love the alliteration) story was very emotional. I wasn't sure I could get into a political story considering all of the recent election season but Faleena knows how to build context without overkill. There are surprises for Justin and for other members of the Cocker family in this story. As always, the read is fast paced, lots of hot sex/romance, and brotherly advice. I know I am enjoying a book when I look to see how much is left and I keep saying, don't end yet, don't end yet... This one is a bit longer than the other brothers' stories but it was the right length for Justin and Jaimie's. By my count, brother Jeremy's story is next and I am anxiously awaiting the tie up of the Cocker's stories. Great entertaining read.

Cocky Senator is book 5 in the Cocker Brothers Series by Faleena Hopkins and I loved it. This book had everything I look for in a book. It was funny, heartwarming and super sexy.

Justin Cocker is the sexy dirty talking politician, who has his sights set only on the Senate. Even though he comes from a large and very close family, Justin has always kept to himself. As with most families, Justin is closest to his twin Jason. Well at least he was until Jason got married and now has a kid on the way. Because unlike his twin, Justin doesn't believe in love, doesn't want kids. Let alone a girlfriend or wife. So why can't he get the mysterious woman he meet at an airport bar in Boston out of his mind?

Can Justin let go of what he witnessed in the past? Or will he continue to let it ruin his chances for love?

This series get better with each book. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a sexy fun read.

I have read all the Cocker brother books so far, and this is the first one that I didn't think I would even like Justin Cocker. He was more than just cocky, he was never going to get attached to any woman although he slept with many, he even turned down his twin to be godfather to his twins child. But his good qualities were amazing. He had great plans for his state by being elected senator. First he meets Jaimie and his world get turned on its side, but Justin is determined not to let that get in his way. Then he is introduced to another girl, Hannah. Then his world is upside down, Old secrets surface, and its time for Justin to let go of a past he thought he understood, and embrace a future where he can have it all.

I really really liked this book, I mean I Really Liked this book!

I was given this book by the author and volunteered to read for an honest review.
I have read all the Cocker brother books as well as a slew of other books written by Faleena. She is one of my top favorite authors.
It would be hard to rate which brother I liked the most but surprisingly this Cocker brother came out on top. Surprisingly because I didn't think I would like a politician. Each story is a standalone but a member of one large family. I was in awe of the communication skills between the characters and wished everyone, myself included, was that expressive and honest in their interaction. I highly recommend you read this book for a very entertaining and enjoyable story. JIR

Best cocker brother story to date. I know I say that Everytime but they keep getting better. What can I say about this book other than read me read me read me. This story had tears forming in my eyes. I know the stories always have a happy ending but you just never know and my heart was breaking for Jamie. I wanted him to see what he was giving up by not wanting to settle down with her. Then of course the surprise twist is but into the story, dont want to spoil it for anyone, and it gives him a chance to look at his life again. His whole family sees it but it's seems to take him so long, by that time I thought she was gonna give up on him. I am so glad she didn't cause they were meant to be together. Another great read Faleena can't wait to read your next one.

I received this book as an ARC, in exchange for a fair review.
I LOOOOVED this story! Very exciting, with some amazing plot twists. This book kept me interested and reading for pretty much the duration of the entire book ;-)

I'm a Faleena fan, and have been for a long time. I've read almost everything shes written, except some of her early stuff, which I still will.

There is so much to read out there, and so little time, it takes a SPECIAL author to keep snagging me, let alone make me cry THREE times, which this book did ;-)

She has, in a very talented manner, has created and woven a fabric of family throughout the Cocker family, and also added back story as well as future stories. Really engaging.

Do your self a favor and check it out.

I love the way Ms. Hopkins slowly draws the reader deeper and deeper into the story. It is a stand-alone with drama, intrigue, uncertainty and love. Justin is running for the Senate seat. I received an advanced reader copy of this book for review and absolutely loved it (to the point I finished it in less then 8 hours). Before I would say that Jake (Cocky Roomie) was my favorite brother, but after reading this story, Justin has stolen my heart as the favorite. The story itself lends to some unpredictable events and the characters were complex and lovable. I think it was a great read and by far one of the most memorable books I've read recently.

Note that while this story can be read on its own, I do recommend reading all of them in order as there are things that you might not understand or pick up on if you haven't read the series.

Every time I read a new Cocker Brothers story I think I love it more. I have been waiting for this one in particular, and I wasn't disappointed. From the first time they meet, Jaimie and Justin have amazing chemistry. I really liked the development of Jaimie's character, and her relationship with her father, and how trust plays a pivotal role in this story. There are lots of surprises I didn't see coming. Each of the Cocker Brothers stories are more entwined in this one, so I recommend reading the other ones too. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the next one!

I think Justin just became my favorite Cocker brother. From the little rolls he played in the other stories I wasn't so sure how Faleena would make me like this guy but she pulled it off without a hitch. He has so much more depth the further in to the story you get and you can't help but fall in love with him just a little. The story got a little rocky in a couple of places but it always ended up being for a good reason and ended up making the story better. The story started off steamy and ended steamy too so you won't be disappointed in that department either. I truly enjoyed this addition to the series and I'm just about dying for Jeremy's story now.

I loved this book, once I started reading the book I couldn't put it down. Everything seems to be going wrong for Justin. For the first time he falls for a girl that he can't walk away from. Then he drops out of the senate race which has been his dream. Even though he everyone in the family knows Justin is in love with Jamie, until his mom talks to him about the family secret, he isn't willing to admit it to himself. This book is a standalone story, but if you've read the previous books you'll know what the references to other books are. I can't wait to read the next Cocker book Cocky Soldier. Until then enjoy Cocky Senator and the other Cocker brother stories.

I've been waiting for a piece of Justin for a while now being as he's introduced earlier in the series.

I'm happy to say I enjoyed his story even with some MAJOR twists and turns that happened. Not what I expected, but only made me love him so much more. I'm so glad Jaime turned out to be a beautiful woman who could stand by him! It was great to get glimpses of the other Cocker brothers as well!

This author continues to keep my interest with subject matter of my liking, being well written and having continual flow! I voluntarily reviewed this book in an early release and I'm so happy to have had the chance!

I love the Cocky brothers. The family is so close and yet each of the brothers is his own person. In Cocky Senator, we get Justin's story. This was another roller coaster of emotion, and I really loved the direction this story took. It was unexpected, but somehow just worked really well. The scenes felt real and the steamy scenes were hot!

I love Faleena's writing style and look forward to the next Cocky Brother story, where we will finally get to learn about Jeremy.

I was gifted an ARC from the author and wanted to write this review after enjoying the story so much.

When there’s a sex scene in a janitor’s closet in the first few chapters, you’re getting a full five stars from me! This book was well written and sexy with a fun, sweet surprise! Hot dad alert! Highly recommend, particularly if you like the political romance trope.

Justin is announcing his run for Senator, the youngest Georgia's seen in 200 years. It has been is obsession and only goal in life. He wants to make great changes in politic he believes are absolutely necessary. He has no thoughts for marriage, children, nor a family because of an experience when he was much younger. Hot sex with random women is another thing and finding Jamie at the airport on makes him want her more. Jamie is traveling to help her father in his run for senator. Running in to Justin at the airport is great and he does not remember her at all. He tells her they are a one time deal, he cannot offer more, and she is willing to accept. Now, he needs her help and they draw closer together but Justin continues to keep her at an emotional distance and it is killing her. Justin is miserable and has no idea how to move past his feelings for Jamie, especially when he cannot believe in marriage.

Justin Cocker, up and coming politician, self proclaimed ladies man with a love 'em and leave 'em attitude, gets the surprise of his life in more than one way!
Will he learn to believe in love, marriage and himself in time to hold on to what fate is offering?
Even though this is a work of fiction, Ms. Hopkins has restored my faith in men. Two people hardened to the ideas of happiness through marriage, Justin witnessed betrayal and infidelity at a young age, Jaime has abandonment issues caused by her father , then add a five year little girl who needs a father to step up after the tragic death of her mother and you've got a 5+ star read!
Just WOW! This book felt so real and so personal on so many levels, I believe I've fallen in love with Justin myself!!
I stalked the author for an arc copy and am gladly and voluntarily leaving this review!

Oh my goodness. I swear every time I read a new book by Faleena Hopkins that it is the best one yet!! Then I reread another one of her books and realize that it was fantastic too!! They are all amazing and Cocky Senator is every bit as good. I can't say enou great things about this book. It is a definite must read. I will definitely be rereading this because it is so good I really sped through it because I had to see what happened next. Now I will go back and read it at a more leisurely pace. LOL. It really is that good!!! Awesome read. Can't wait for Jeremy's book.

I was given this book as a ARC to review.
Oh I think I have a new Cocker brother to love! I love this series but this is by far my favorite one. So much happens that you never see coming. I read this book in one day with all the surprises I couldn't put it down. Faleena Hopkins has quickly become one of my favorite authors each story has its own life, yet they tie in so well that you stay connected with past characters. It makes each book that much better!
