Just Okay... I've read the previous two stories, and the bonus interim short story - I did like the storyline idea, but the execution end up making these just OK urban fantasy reads.

The characters can be quite immature and lack good communication skills which pushes the drama a bit. I would only read any future installments if they were on sale - like this one was for all the stories for 99 cents recently. But it doesn't seem like the author is really sticking with this series, and this last installment was more lacklustre than the previous, so my own interest has waned enough for me to not even be interested in any future installments.

It's just a shame, because it could be so fun, a will-o-wisp fae in Lilith (Sexy, confident) who is in charge of all the supernatural clans in our modern world, that are hiding in plain sight from humans, as human and ex-cop/detective, Sam (more awkward, but people savvy) that comes onboard to help investigate and neutralize inter-clan crimes, to appease the internal politics of the fae.

But so much of the joy gets sucked out of it, then replaced with immature reactions and very surface level characterizations. There's generally a 'mystery' to unravel each installment, but in this third one it was so thin, and ended up as nothing in particular, and had absolutely no depth at all - I was honestly truly disappointed. It's a shame.

Samantha and Lilith are getting closer to each other. Samantha finds a coin in the box that was found. They decide to see what the coin is and where is it is from. Samantha and Lilith have a few hiccups in their communications with each other. Samantha will also have to deal with her ex-wife's behavior.
Samantha is there when Lilith gets some terrible news. Lilith is acting like a different person, it could end everything before it starts.

There is a lot more in this story. I didn't want to give way any major details. I really enjoy the dynamic between Samantha and Lilith. They work so well together due to their differences. I recommend reading

As former cop now Warden Sam is finding her way among the Nox, she funds herself irrevocably enchanted with Lilith.

Ultimately, Sam seems a bit perplexed why she wants so badly to flee if she snd Lilith share such a strong connection . There is however, a lot of baggage that comes with each of them

Sad mundane details like the annoying continued interruptions by her ex, the death of a significant figure and Nox holiday traditions are interrupted by a treasure hunt and a possible curse

Intriguing finding their way story with Hellhounds and treaties and far thrown in together with complex family and romantic connections

Our heroines get involved in a treasure hunt, but what they uncover is not what they were expecting.

This is book three of the series. It works okay as a standalone, but you will be missing some of the back story. It might be best to start at the beginning.

This is a paranormal mystery story with a slow burn FF romance in the making. The story is well written and easy to read. The setting is well developed and we get to explore some new territory this time. I loved the treasure hunt aspects of the story. The plot was quite intriguing as well, with enough intrigue and mystery to keep things interesting. Overall, another fun and easy read.

Highly recommended.

So I stopped reading at 20%. I can’t take Sam (Samantha? Really, pick one variation of the name and stick to it.) being so emotionally stupid at her age. Telling Lilith that it’s just casual after they’ve just slept together is beyond stupid and she can’t figure out why Lilith left. I can’t take it anymore. Especially when the old coin (the puzzle piece they’re going to follow) turns into a map fragment. And then Lilith becomes excited about pirate treasure where it had been Sam a chapter or two earlier. After suffering through inconsistencies, typos and story mehness the last two books, I’m not doing that to myself again. Not even Shadow’s cuteness can make me read more.

This was another delightful and easy to read book in this series. The relationship between Lilith and Sam continues in the usual strange way, but it does come closer with a few ups and downs.
The story keeps you interested and flows well. Well described characters and I especially liked the interactions of the characters. How they kept my attention in the storyline. The structure was creative and inventive. I was brought in and held there until the end.

Samantha and Lilith are back in book three of the Samantha Rain Mysteries and as their relationship grows they also have to deal with so much past baggage. I loved the mystery in finding a coin and it turning into a treasure hunt. This is an entertaining story that held my attention from beginning to end with mystery, danger, romance, interesting characters, and unexpected twists. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Sam and Lilith are getting closer, but their baggage does not want to leave them alone. A coin causes a treasure hunt, with surprises and twists galore. Love the characters and the situations they get into. The storyline has a few diversions that try to break them up, but they have more to deal with. Well done. On to the next book.

Lovely story

I really like this series. The two main characters, human and Nox sound like two star crossed lovers getting to know each other and I cannot help but root for them. The plot is easily followed, and the premise is basically the two of them getting to know each other and learning how to love. I definitely recommend this book.

They never did solve the mystery of the coins and curse, still a good story which was more about their relationship than a mystery!
