USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book one of six
Mallory is having dinner with Trent her husband at a restaurant when he gets up and leaves. He leaves her for another woman. It is all going badly when she wins the lottery.
I would recommend this series and author to readers of romantic family and friends relationships novels 🏙🤔 2024 👒📯
I appreciate that Stephanie bond writes daily serials for half of each year, and I have enjoyed all of her other ones. I’m having trouble with this one, however. I’m not fond of stupid, boneless heroines, and Mallory definitely seems to be that. Everything just seems to happen to her, and she walks around in a fog as if she has no control or backbone. I’ll continue with the series and give it a try, but so far I’ve just cringed too often at her actions.
Periodically, I make a point to read outside of my usual genres of horror, fantasy, and gamelit. As might be typical for a male reader, the romance genre is usually low on my priority list, but for that very reason it's my go-to when I want to refresh my palette. Stephanie Bond's serials are quickly becoming the first ones I reach for on those occasions.
Just like choosing to watch a single episode of a show rather than hitting play on a movie, I like to ease into something only novella length when I reach for something unfamiliar. I'm giving myself permission to dip out after the first episode, but if things go well, I end up watching the entire season and that's what ends up happening with Stephanie Bond's serials.
The writing is smooth and conversational, easily letting the reader slip into the everyday life of the character. For this serial, it's a young woman who's down on her luck, struggling to make ends meet, working multiple jobs while her relationship falls apart in the background.
While I usually prefer a character with agency, this is just part 1 and I imagine things will change in future volumes. In this book, the character just tries to stay afloat under a deluge of life circumstances. Her arc will likely follow her ability (or inability) to grab the wheel and steer her own course.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series, though I'm also nervous about what's in store for our MC. Statistically, winning the lottery doesn't lead to a happy ending, so I'm sure there are more tribulations to come for Mallory.
I love Stephanie Bond's serial books, and seriously would pay a premium to read the whole thing in one sitting...right now! Lottery Girl is another terrific example of Bond's storytelling excellence that ropes you in the first day and never lets go. The characters are wonderful, and there are always so many true friends to out-number the weasels and slime-balls! You'll laugh, you'll cry, but you will never doubt the fact that Mallory Green is a one-in-a-million woman who deserves to get her wish! Don't miss this terrific series and this first book!
These daily serial sets are always enjoyable. In this one, Mallory Green is working three jobs to take care of the bills she has amassed with her husband. She thinks she finally has caught a break.
Mallory had been a foster kid. She married and is now in deep debt, working three jobs just to try to stay afloat while her husband searches for a job.
She's also the type of woman that refuses to see what is right in front of her and believes her husband can do no wrong.
Then one thing after another goes wrong for her ending in something she didn't expect (but should have.)
Some good does happen at the end, though. (Although I do see a major problem ahead because she has not yet gotten a divorce.)
An interesting first book in the series but I am somewhat concerned about where it will go from here.
Spoiler alert: I found this book depressing. From chapter one you know Mallory is a loser. She never stands up for herself and ppl take advantage of her kindness. Then you think her luck has changed, nope! Everything that could go wrong for a person winning the lottery happened to Mallory. The worst part is the stories were not believable. And she did not learn any lessons. After receiving more money (thanks to estranged hubby dying in a boating accident) she continues to give it and material items away. I don’t think anyone could be that simple.

This is part 1 of 6 part daily serial, part one is July.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, in LOTTERY GIRL, a young woman (Mallory) who's unlucky in life, in love, and in fortune hits the jackpot! But can money truly buy happiness?
I'm quite enjoying Lottery Girl so far, it’s off to a good start. Nice getting to know Mallory and meeting all the other characters that are in her life, although definitely not liking Trent. Definitely a whole host of interesting characters.
I love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 2 which is the month of August.
I became captivated with Mallory on the very first page. Perhaps because I resonated with her struggles and devotion and betrayal...although mine were as a result of becoming a widow. We both found ourselves suddenly single, left with a mountain of debt and despair. Honestly I can't wait to see how the influx of her winnings affect her going forward. Maybe I'll even buy a lottery ticket!
I enjoyed this book, but didn’t like that Mallory was so far removed from the family finances. I’m a firm believer both people in a relationship need to be involved in the finances, but this may have been needed to make the story work. I will still read the rest of the series because it has great potential.
Another winning serial from my favorite Bond girl!
I was already hooked when this serial was announced months ago. I feel so bad for our girl Mallory already but can see the light at the end of the tunnell...hopefully! I'm hooked and can't wait until next month! I just wish i could have the patience to read it all at once!
I really enjoyed Stephanie Bond's serial novel Coma Girl, so when I saw this new one, I thought I would try it out. It is amazing how much character development can be done in the short amount of pages encompassing each day. I am excited to read what is coming in August!
Lottery Girl is the fun new daily serial by Stephanie Bond. Part 1 of 6 is the month of July and is done in daily increments. We are introduced to Mallory Green who is working 3 jobs to make ends meet because her husband has been laid off. She is heavily in debt, has.no family, but just keeps trying. This is the beginning of a great 6-month reading binge!
These monthly stories ( this one 77 pages) has so much in it. It has brought a lot of emotions going through Mallory life. You cry with her and get angry 😠at her looser husband also you want to shake her to wake her up. It was nice to see 👀 cross over characters like Hannah and Chance💜👣
I love these daily serials by Stephanie. They are so much fun with great characters. She even included Hannah and Chance from her Body Movers books. Can't wait for Part 2 to see what Mallory faces next.
Please dont let Mallory go through the pain of her husband wanting her back and she thinks he still loves her. She should have listened, I want to resch out and imaginary shake her. Ugh!!! Hope that wish bone wishes her husband away with nothing.
Time for a new Daily Serial by Stephanie Bond!! So installment 1 we have Mallory who makes you frustrated, she's married to a cheating rat jerk who leaves her and she is basically in denial about the whole entire situation, then she learns she has a winning lotto ticket. Looking forward to part 2!!
Having read all of Bond's other serials, I looked forward to this one, too. From the title, you already know the girl is going to win the lottery, but I found myself wanting her to win. I can't wait to see how she manages her life and those in it.
This was not my type of story. I appreciate that the heroine is the underdog in this but she is just too much of a pushover. She takes no control of her life leaving finances and bills to her husband. Ignores all the signs that her husband is cheating.
Mals husband sounds like a pig headed man. She works her butt off and he just falls for another woman just sucks. So excited to see where life turns since she won the lotto . don't let that pig headed man get a hold of your money
I started this series right after reading Factory Girl. I only read two of the six. They were fun, but I HATE the way the entire book - one book - is released as six parts on Kindle. What a pain! It wasn't worth continuing, actually.
Such a great 1st book in what I know will be a fantastic serial. Mallory is really taking a hit...but her luck has changed on 7/31...I can’t wait to see where this leads.
