Court High #3

Court Kept

Rate this book
The black hole has sucked me in... and I don't want to get out.

Ramses plan is dark. It can GET dark but not only am I here for it I'm so ready. It's time to bring some justice in this town. It's time to open some f*cking doors and be a voice for someone who didn't have one. My sister Paige didn't get to tell her story. What happened to her was covered up and I'm going to prove that. My only obstacle is Royal Prinze, the one person who's plagued me since I got to this seriously messed up town. He's goading me to see things aren't what they seem. He's goading me to see his truth but I won't be kept.

He's kept me for too long already.

Warning: This enemies-to-lovers, high school romance contains some dark themes and light bullying. The book is not a standalone and is book three in a four-part series of full-length novels. Royal Prinze is the only hero of this tale... good luck getting him to share.

“Court Kept” continues the story of December and Court Legacy.

More secrets are revealed, lies are uncovered- everyone is still lying and hiding secrets- but I’m too invested to stop. I wish we saw more jealousy and interactions instead of first person POVs from so many characters. There’s a LOT of parallel storylines running atm and I’m finding it difficult to keep up.

Way better than the other two books.

The plot thickens with this series and most of the time I did a lot of eye rolling when it came to December and Royal cause I sure hate secrets, but I find that Ramses for me caught my attention. Whatever the outcome and the bomb at the end I just want to know if he’ll have his own book.

- cliffhanger ending

oh my god this was a rollercoaster.

now, in the tbh it’s book of court high, the plot thickens and secrets & lies continue to be revealed. slowly we’re discovering more about the incident and the parties involved. & along the way em & royal’s relationship continues to develop.

i love them so so so much. both have gone through so much and continue to do all they can to protect the other. “this girl was my kryptonite, always had been” i have to admit, in the last book, i was incredibly angry with royal. SO SO ANGRY. but after he said “well, maybe you own me” i have to admit i was folding for this man…

“this doesn’t mean you belong to me. it means you’re a part of me, a part of all this. i don’t own you because you can’t be owned” oh my god. i’m so in love with these two.

eden continues to surprise me with the amazing way she blends romance and suspense! she never fails to entertain me, im convinced she can do no wrong.

anyways after that ending i’m SPRINTING to the next book.

“This doesn’t mean you belong to me,” he said, clasping the necklace before bringing the ring forward. He lifted the ring. “It means you’re a part of me, a part of all this. I don’t own you because you can’t be owned.”

Gods, I've never been so clueless regarding who's to blame and for what exactly. And I love it.

The story continues where Illusions that May ended. Again we're gaining informations, seing sneaky and arranged businesses, and yet I know nothing!

I couldn't be more eager to find out about the truth.

Audio Review:
Court Kept (Court High, Book 1) is a high school enemies to lovers romance series that is explosive. What we get is Sexy Times ✔ Lies✔ A videotape✔ and much more Secrets ✔ and Lies✔ cascading through the pages. The world building settings and descriptions are detailed lightly dark, and twists intricately weaved into the plot. A steller class of supporting dramatis personae. The bombshell ending leaves you toes on pins and needles waiting. I absolutely love ❤ this series and cannot wait for the final audio in this series.

Kasi Hollowell, Gregory Salinas, Michael Gallagher multi-cast performance brought the characters and their story to reality. Kasi Hallowell is a talented narrator and her inflection is sweet, smooth and easy listening. Absolutely love listening to her perform. Gregory Salinas is always enjoyable to listen to him narrate.

This book is where December and Ramses join forced to get their revenge on The Court families that run Maywood Heights.
They come up with a simple plan really, to infiltrate Windsor House and The Court in an effort to bring it down from inside.
While also finding out exactly what everyone was keeping secret about the death of December’s sister Paige.

Thus.

Ramses has to go through reapplying, and the Courts hazing process.

Meanwhile, December becomes “Court Kept”
Excepting Ramses grandmothers silver necklace that signifies she is the girlfriend of one of the Court.

However, after some revelations from Royal after he and Ramses get to a fight, before school, December starts to doubt her decision to destroy Royal, and his brothers in the Court.

Still, poor Ramses has started to develop feelings for December, and starting to wonder IF they could actually be a real couple.

One night of surprise ice skating brings all his hopes tumbling down (boo) and Ramses is forced to confront the truth.
December has, and always will have stronger feeling for Royal.

They are IT for each other.

So with a heavy heart, Ramses tells her to go to him (ffs)
This leave everyone to go Aargh! As these two eventually get back together for a night of “I love you” “I love you too” ending with F’ ing, and agreeing to put their heads together to solve the mystery around Paige’s death.

So.
As our loved up couple glides into school, all arms around each other and kisses at their lockers, not giving a F’.
A school assembly is announced.
And before you can say “cliffhanger” Jax, drops a huge rumor into their laps.
Suicide….Say WHAT!

Well, gotta say disappointed that the author,Eden, got the whole Ramses/ December awkward relationship out the way fairly expediently towards the end.

How convenient that December was athletic enough to sneak in Royal’s window at just the right time, to find him fresh out the shower, and practically naked.
.
These two didn’t waste any time after that in jumping each other’s bones.
Suppose it was a good thing December was able to push away all that anger she felt towards him just a few chapters back for sex she was so gagging for.

Ugh! December’s wishy washy behaviour got on my nerves.

She was clearly running around DESPERATELY looking for a reason to forgive Royal, and slip between his sheets again.
She was being lead by her attract to him.
She couldn’t stay away!
Any opportunity she was chasing him…Trying to find out about her sister of course.

Also why, when I bet all my money on Lena Hastings being the married women Paige was involved with, does Eden bring a Twin, no less into the mix??? Daisy.
Why? introduce a completely NEW character that we hadn’t been privy to, this late in the game.
Why was it necessary for it NOT to be Lena?

I feel duped a little bit.This isn’t fair.

The series continues, December and Ramses are still trying to figure things out, we get all sorts of twists and turns, whatever happened to Paige is the main factor to the story, everything is complicated yet you will keep on reading because you can simply not stop, I got the audiobook narrated by the talented Gregory Salinas and Kasi Hollowell, they do a fantastic job and I am enjoying every single one. I strongly suggest you get them on audio.

Court Kept by Eden O’Neill is an enemies to lovers high school romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kasi Hollowell, Gregory Salinas, and Michael Gallagher.

The book does come with a warning: "This enemies-to-lovers, high school romance contains some dark themes and light bullying."

I absolutely love this series! Eden does an amazing job pulling me into the story. I got hooked from the first book and can’t wait to see how this story plays out. I am loving the friendship between December and Ramses. The relationship between December and Royal is messy but you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting Ramses, December, and Royal's point of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise since it’s the third book in a four book series. I can’t wait for the next book in the series We The Pretty Stars to be released on audible so I can get more of December’s and Royal's story.

Kasi, Gregory, and Michael did an amazing job on the narration. They really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like enemies-to-lovers, bullying romance, or romantic suspense.

Story: I really enjoyed this story very much. I enjoyed the first two books as well. All of them, including this one, have ended on cliffhangers. The fourth book is not out on audio yet. I will definitely be getting it when it is. I'm that hooked on this series.
Characters: I've listened to this audiobook, so I'm a little hesitant about misspelling the names. Especially the unique names. There are a few unique names in this series. I'm so here for it. I would have liked to seen a little more in each perspective as things went on.
Critiques: The only thing I have a small issue with was that there was some dramatic build-up that wound up falling flat. I feel like it had a lot of potential that just didn't get met.
Narration: I give the narrators 10 out of 5 stars. They all did amazing. I enjoyed the story even more because of their performance.
Final Thoughts: I really need to finish this series. I'm so obsessed and want to find out what happens next. I want to know what happened with the sister! It's great!

Court Kept
Court High #3
By Eden O'Neill
Narrated by Kasi Hollowell ,Gregory Salinas and Michael Gallagher

This series continues to keep me captivated. Picking up where book 2 left off, we are off and running with the Court. December and Ramses are on a mission, and Royal is constantly in the forefront. This one has some twists and turns I didn't see coming, and the outcome is so surprising it changed my guess as to where it was going! We are still in search of the truth of Paige's death, there is interaction with December's father, the father's of the court and the mean girls in school. And the ending cliffhanger has me anxiously awaiting the fourth and final installment. With suspense, romance, trouble, unexpected alliances and fantastic world building, Eden O'Neill keeps us on edge!

The narration truly enhances this series. The casting is perfection. Kasi Hollowell is December, and her tenacity makes her a fantastic personality. Gregory Salinas voices Royal, and his emotional pull in this one is incredible. And Ramses is quite the character. Michael Gallagher has a way of making him the man to trust. I can't wait to see what this team has in store for us next.

Omg this series blows my mind. Straight from the beginning we get into the twists and turns of this amazing book.
We get to see December grow closer to Ramses while they try to find out more about Paige's death and what happened. We also get to see things from Royal and Ramses point of view in this book which I really liked. It was amazing to see things from their side and what they go through for the things they do.
The ending was also wicked and amazing but with a shock also thrown in to leave you hanging needing the next book. Totally need to pick up this book

I have never been one for series, and I struggle to keep my attention focused on one. Let me just say, I’m INVESTED.

The plot thickens, and they’re so many twists and turns! This is so good! These series kind of remind me of the Lancaster Prep series by Monica Murphy, but this is definitely more dark.

I love Ramses, and I’m so invested. I hope he has his own book and happy ending. He deserves it.

What is with these parents in these books? They need to get a slap in the face!

Also, can someone PLEASE give Royal a hug?!

Oh my gosh, that ending!!!! Wait....I need more right now!

Good thing the next book is already on my list. Just moved it up on my TBR.

I still don't know what happened to Paige, I have a couple theories though.

You should read this in order...I liked the first book better. This one needed a bit more spice!!

What the ever loving heck????!!!!!

Seriously!!!

First of all I’m pretty sure I’m about to combust with all the speculation, theories and thoughts about this book!

So much happening in this one! So many breadcrumbs to pick up and piece together to solve this ever growing tangled web! Some oh sh*t moments that had me at the edge of my seat!

I seriously love this series! It’s been awhile since I have been consumed by a story and this one definitely has! The plot is thickening and the mystery is deepening, my original theories are out the window or at least a couple and new ones have sprung up, I just can’t with this series!!!!!

Our characters have made some strides in this book. Some POVs that I’m living for and that was definitely a surprise. The world building of this book is getting more and more shrouded in shadows and darkness with how heavy the mystery is and I’m living for it!
This series has been so vivid to the imagination it truly feels like you are transported to this world and the highs and lows make the experience even more thrilling to read.

Seriously Eden you have wrecked me. I love this so much I can’t wait to see how it all comes together in the next book!

Book three, and this story just keeps getting darker and more twisted. As Em and Ramses work to infiltrate the Court to try to discover what really happened to Em’s sister, things with Royal become more and more confusing for her. The relationship between Em and Ramses is actually a really great friendship, but it’s almost sad, because it’s easy to see that Ramses would really like to to be more, but Em is still hung up on Royal, and despite the way he treats her, she can’t seem to get rid of her feelings for him. The mystery behind Em’s sister’s death keeps getting more and more complicated, and the list of players seemingly more and more powerful and dangerous. Going into the final book, we are set up for a pretty significant and most likely very emotional reckoning. The cliffhanger here is quite unexpected, it definitely took a turn I wasn’t expecting, and I’m very much wanting the final book, because I can’t decide if it’s real or a total fake out!

The audiobook for this, as produced by Pink Flamingo Productions, is excellent. They have top notch narrators, and they always add great emotion and depth the the characters and story.

I'm not sure where to even start with this...

This book starts off right after the end of the second book when Ramses and December start their plan to infiltrate the Court and basically expose them and their secrets. And maybe, hopefully, we will finally figure out what happened to Paige

Spoiler Alert:

My annoyance with this book was THROUGH THE ROOF! Which is so disappointing after reading all the high reviews of this book. It just didn't do it for me. There was one point of the book I had to set it down and take a break because like really?? The whole lack of communication/ miscommunication trope is one of my biggest pet peeves and that is the entire plot, basically, and I'm loosing my mind.

The only redeeming thing about this book was the friendship between Ramses and December because apparently they are the only two characters in the book who know how to actually communicate with each other. Ramses, December, and wondering what happened to Paige are the only reasons why I'm giving this book 3 stars and the only reasons why I keep reading. And of course the wild cliff hangers at the end of the books.

At this point, I do not care for any of the romance. Literally, Royal and December's relationship makes zero sense to me. I haven't been able to see any chemistry between them since the first book. He has just been such an asshole. Which fine, whatever, but there is nothing else that let's us like him or sympathize with him besides the fact that his dad is abusive. There is just no tension building or romance between him and Em.

I'm just tired of the dragged on story.. I'll finish the series, but only for Paige. Not for Royal (gag)

whoa, that ending was definitely not expected.

Ramses and December have a plan. They want to expose what happened to Paige, and in order to do so, they need to get on the inside. Ramses decides to join the court so that he can have more information. The only problem with that is that a lot of the guys hate him because he used to be a bully. Royal and December are not really talking a lot, but everything he does is for the same of protecting her. He pushes her away because he doesn’t want her to get caught in the middle of everything. December obviously doesn’t know that though. In order to join the court, Ramses was put into the woods when it was really cold outside and was bound. After completing his haze, he was able to get his ring and not only did December go pick it up for him, but she also picked up a necklace. The necklace was for December because the court usually give it to their girlfriends. December and Ramses agreed to fake date, and that first day at school, Royal gets into a fight with Ramses. After that, they both get suspended, and during that time, Ramses and December are separated a lot and she basically ghosts him and gets information out of Royal. He tells her that he basically made everyone go easy on Ramses because originally, the haze was for them to whip him for everything he had done to them, but the boys stopped that from happening for December. Eventually, Ramses finds this out and we definitely see that he has feelings for December, but he knows that she loves Royal and he’s such a good guy so he tells her to go and see him. December takes his advice and Royal and December sleep together. Not only that, but he gives her his ring on a chain and says it doesn’t mean he owns her but it means that she’s a part of him and he promises to tell her everything he knows about Paige. The two then show up at school together, not caring what people have to think about any of it. An assembly is called and Jax tells them that the assembly is for Mira because apparently she committed suicide. This is also 3 POVs, mostly December’s but also includes Royal and Ramses POVs.

Hearing Royal’s POV is honestly just disappointing—December occupies maybe 5% of his thoughts.

At the start, his logic is that Ramses must be getting closer to December not because he might genuinely like her (imagine that!) but because he’s up to something. So Royal’s response? He plans an orgy with Mira and the other girls at the house—something he casually says they’ve done before—and records it to share with the whole school so December will see it. All to “protect” her. How thoughtful of him!

Did he really think she’d run out of town just because he’s a manwhore?

I nearly DNF’d after that, but I assumed or at least hoped there’d be the usual explanation in romances—that it was staged, or he faked it—but nope. He actually slept with Mira to “protect” December… by hurting her on purpose. And when he and December finally get together, they have a whole talk about her fake dating Ramses—but don’t even address his little public orgy?

There’s zero groveling, it’s just the whole book is just December chasing after him through the end.

Why am I still reading this? The romance is barely a subplot at this point, and the grammar issues are still going strong.

Can anyone explain the time line for me? I *want* to like this series but I feel like for me the timeline is off and that just throws the entire book(s) for me.

Her sister supposedly goes missing, so she decides to move into her dad’s house and find out where her sister is. Things happen yadda yadda, she goes to the dance and then in the story you find out what actually happened to her sister. BUT when we first find out about Paige’s body being found it makes it seem like the accident just happened and her body was just found. In my head Em has been in school for a bit and if her sister was killed before she came wouldn’t her body have probably already been discovered ? 🧐
