Who killed Charles McCarthy at Boscombe Pool? And why? Detective Lestrade from Scotland Yard thinks it was McCarthy's son, James. Things do not look good for James. But the famous English detective, Sherlock Holmes, sees things differently. His friend, Dr Watson, joins him and tells the story.
I read this adapted book and listen to the MP3 audio four or five times to improve my English. But now, I re-read with online dictionaries. It's easier and I could appreciate more the history.
Another good short novella . Am glad to say that from the previous book I have been able to deduct the criminal along with Holmes. Perhaps Watson is generous in giving clues subconsciously in his writing. This is the apparently straightforward case of a father being shot by his son, which proved to be more convoluted once Sherlock entered the fray.

-Discussion Questions: 1.A young man was suspected as the criminal in this book. Have you ever been misunderstood by someone? Answer: Actually no, but if I were so, I would be surprised and become confusion.
2.There are many suspense stories, for example, detective one, police one.. Do you like the genre "suspense"? Answer: I don't like so. Such contents have some extreme expressions. I like hartwarming stories.
-Note- Boscombe valley, A man was killed by someone. The son was suspected. His friends insisted his innocent. but her father is the real criminal.
Like all Sherlock Holmes books the one thing I really like is Watson's narration. If the narration is from Sherlock's point of view it would be less interesting. I love the unique way Holmes solve the mystery and how observant he is. I also liked the fact that you don't have to read the rest of the series to read this book.
Another wonderful story about Sherlock Holmes' case. Although this one is the retold version, you can still see clearly what a masterful story teller Arthur Conan Doyle was through how Holmes studied the murder case step by step and observed the crime scene carefully to arrive at the murderer's description. And not to mention the story behind the murder, tracing back to the past. Really good.
Nice book, easy English, but that story was so clear, only 2 persons who can be murderer. And how much is possible that women will kill her lover. But part about history which happend in Australia was at least bit interesting.
