Elmo and Abby take on trash in this friendly guide that teaches young readers about how litter impacts earth. Practical tips and a friendly Sesame Street approach encourage readers to take action against litter. How can you be kind to Earth?Interior paper made with 30 percent recycled post-consumer waste fibers.
This nonfiction book makes good points, communicating pretty darned effectively to early readers. As is typical of the nonfiction books affiliated with "Sesame Street," the appeal is mainly emotional. While familiar characters from the TV show add "human interest," sort-of. ;-)
For this book about STOP LITTERING, the celebrity muppets are Elmo and Abby. In case that impresses any of you Goodreaders.
Look, I find the appeal very direct and potentially powerful. For instance, on Page 15, "Let's work together to stop litter from hurting animals!" And there's Abby, in all her blue fake-fur glory, with a cute yellow bow in her "hair."
About her right hand or paw, or whatever this is supposed to be... Is Abby pointing with that? Or is she just getting ready to chew on her paw, for comfort? Either way, it's young reader relatable, seems to me.
Hey, between the expert writing by Mary Lindeen and the excellent use of photos and graphics, this is a very persuasive book.
