Lacey Blair had no idea about the existence of vampires and werewolves until a freak accident left her infected with lycanthropy. As a result of that night, Dallas Caldwell was banished from the pack and Lacey was left to fend for herself in a world of shapeshifters.

Ten years later, she runs the best cupcake shop in the Texas Hill Country, hunts the undead by night, and searches tirelessly for a cure for the blackouts her mother now suffers after having her memory erased by the werewolf council. The one thing she doesn’t have time for? Untangling the feelings still simmering between her and a certain ex turned best friend.

Dallas Caldwell already destroyed one life. When you’re the son of the pack Alpha, mistakes don’t just mean consequences. They mean exile. Back in Blood Moon at last, Dallas has resolved to stay away from Lacey Blair for her own good.

But when Lacey is attacked by vampires and targeted with a slow-acting biologic agent that prevents her from shifting, she and Dallas will have to team up to find out what exactly she’s been infected with—and whether this new weapon developed by the undead could pose a threat to the entire pack.

CRAVE is part of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. Sizzling hot romance. Guaranteed HEA.

LACEY FOR THE WIN !

I liked the first installment, but I haven't enjoyed a paranormal romance so much in a long time. It offered a great plot complemented by a very interesting cast of characters and a great pacing.

First of all, we learned more about the way the werewolves' world worked with the Council, the Tracers and a few extra supernatural powers. The main plot developed, revealing a complexe intrigue related to the covens and some dangerous serum. The story was very dynamic and mixed perfectly with the romance.

Lacey and Dallas had a complicated past, each of them feeling guilty about what happened to the other. As much as Dallas resented having accidentally transformed Lacey, changing her life, she was thorn over the fact he got exiled for years. Despite becoming best friends, they continued secretly loving each other, never allowing themselves to live this forbidden love. But they were incredible together, even as friends, with all the pranks and the amazing synergy they shared.

Book 1 didn't depict Lacey in a good light. I actually disliked her, just like Hayden did, and didn't understand her place in the group. But this novel showed me how amazing she was. I LOVED her🥰 she was funny, loving and a damn good fighter. Her difficult relationship with her mother broke my heart. All the talking about the cupcakes made me crave them and I want a Godiva. Right. Now.

I was so surprised when I found out Dallas felt like an outcast in his family because of how Ben treated him. It was more or less like a mirror of Ethan's feelings. Something I didn't expect, at all. It was nice to have Dallas's book just after his. Then it became clearer why they didn't get along and shocking how similar their feelings were. I was glad they began to work out their differences and slowly mend the rift in the family.

Life wasn’t about tallying up all the ways you’d been wronged. It wasn’t about holding grudges or demanding apologies. It was about making the most of each day, living the best life you could in the moment. It was about finding the people who had your back and holding them close—your family, whether that was one you were born into or one you found later.

Dallas was desperately in love with Lacey since he was 16 and, despite everything life put in his path, he found his way back to her. He was protective, without being too controlling - probably because Lacey would have kicked his ass if he had tried. There were some steamy scenes, but it's their emotional bond that got me hooked on them.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions, so I'm very excited to read the next book, a M/M romance about West and Topher. I'll keep you updated!

Crave is the second book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and follows Dallas and Lacey, lovers-turned-best friends. Dallas and Lacey have a complicated past. When they were in high school, Dallas accidentally turned Lacey into a werewolf. Beaten and exiled, Dallas didn’t have any contact with Lacey for years, but he never lost his love for her.

Now best friends, their feelings are as strong as ever, but many obstacles stand in their way. However, when Lacey is attacked by vampires and wounded with some kind of biological agent, Dallas and Lacey must work with the rest of the Caldwell family to figure out the vamps motives and protect the pack. Will Dallas and Lacey stop the vampires that threaten them? Will they ever move on from the past and embrace their future together?

This is a well-developed and intriguing forbidden romance! The story, like Dark, highlights the importance of dealing with the past, facing one’s inner struggles, and embracing love. I also love how the book stresses the importance of mental health. Dallas, for example, has so much built up guilt for his actions as a teenager, and he has yet to forgive himself. With his brothers’ and Lacey’s guidance and his own acknowledgment of his unresolved issues, Dallas seeks out and embraces counseling.

The dynamic between the Caldwell brothers continues to develop, and I love seeing how strong their connection is. Though they might not always see eye-to-eye, it is clear that the loyalty toward the family is unbreakable. I also like that Ethan and Dallas face their issues and try to move forward. They have a lot of baggage that spans decades. It will take a lot of work, but both men seem determined to forgive and move on.

This book further made me question the Caldwell father’s motives when the boys were in their teens. Why did he keep his sons away from the women they loved? We did he act so abusively toward Dallas? Though his past is explained, I still don’t understand his rationale, as it only seemed to have detrimental effects on everyone. I have a feeling that his past will be explored further in future books, and the reasons for his actions will become clear.

Of course, the romance is my favorite part of the story. Dallas and Lacey have great chemistry and a deep bond, and their forbidden friends-to-lovers romance is wonderful. The story is told from both of their perspectives, and it is clear that they deeply love each other and know each other well. They’re fun and funny, and their texts and constant pranks on each other are hilarious. They’ve been through so much, and they are so much better together than apart. Plus, they are both amazing in the kitchen, and their delicious-sounding meals and desserts had my mouth watering!

The conflict between werewolves, vampires, and humans is also intriguing and complex, and I’m curious to find out more. Where is Dallas’ dad? He’s been missing for eighteen months. Why are the vampires targeting werewolves? Who is the mole in the were community? There are so many questions that I want answered, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! I’m so loving this paranormal romance series and am thankful to Kat Kinney for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Crave has all of the excitement, wit, excellent writing, and great pacing I have come to expect from this author. This story, book 2 of 3 in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series, focuses on Dallas and Lacey, although Ethan and Hayden are present in supporting roles. Dallas and Lacey as a couple are interesting, adorable, and complicated. As a teenager, Dallas did the unthinkable, he turned Lacey, a human, into a werewolf. He did not mean to, of course, but it is the result that matters, for Lacey's life has been forever changed. Dallas spends years in exile for his sin before he returns to the town of Blood Moon older, wiser, and more than a little resentful. The fact that Dallas and Lacey's romance seems doomed does not prevent them from being best friends in secret, a relationship fraught with longing that leads to them giving in to temptation. Once again, Ms. Kinney has crafted a tense narrative to keep the reader at the edge of their seats!

They are cool, they wear DMs, they shouldn't be in love but they are - and they are werewolves. Lacey Blair is the sort of nemesis of Hayden, book one's heroine. A talented cup-cake chef, Lacey is also beautiful and there is an explosive attraction between Lacey and Dallas. Ten years later, Lacey's mother's memories have been removed and Dallas has problems with his brother. Vampire wars in a Christmas tree clearing, surprise romantic developments and general family dynamics bring 'Crave' to a shifting close!
What I like about this novel is the belief I was able to suspend, most likely because of the excellent writing. The language is fresh, believable and compelling. I just love the way Kat Kinney makes werewolves 'matter of fact' without making them boring; because they're not - they are weird canine-human creatures ruled by the moon.

OMG! She did it again!🔥

What can I say about author, Kat Kinney? She is an absolutely amazing writer and storyteller. The way she draws you in, then hits you with intense dialogue gets me every time. The universe was against Dallas and Lacey from the very beginning, ripping them from one another as teens because of an, in the moment mistake, that Dallas regretted but never heard the end of it. As Lacey struggles to find herself in this new life thrust upon her, Dallas dealt with guilt, abandonment and anger toward one of his brothers. Oh but how fate brought Dallas and Lacey back together, only in secret though. They went through many obstacles, including attempted kidnapping, vamp attacks and personal issues but they held on. Throw in beefing brothers, a corrupt Council, determined vampires, cupcakes and beef brisket and you got yourself one hell of a bumpy road. Book 2 of the paranormal shifter romance will has you turning the page so fast, your fingers might get burned from the fore off the pages. This was a sho'nuff page turner and I can't wait to dive into book 3, Bound!🔥

People don’t read books by Kat Kinney. They devour them instead.

Case in point? Crave. The take-no-prisoners middle-child of her shape shifter trilogy set in Blood Moon, Texas. And a book that works on so many levels, you’ll have to go barefoot to count them.

First off, there’s the personal. A passionate yet problematic soul-mate dance between our heroes, Lacey and Dallas, complicated by the fact that shifter Dallas accidentally infected his one true love. Then there’s the familial, the fraught allegiances of the Caldwell clan, all six of the brothers were-blooded, and with Lacey’s mother never suspecting that her child might carry the same curse. Pull back further and we catch a glimpse of shifter politics, the power grabs and cruel deceits that fuel their feud with the Vampires. Finally tapping out with a global perspective, as we humans, ever fearful, strive to coexist with the creatures that live in our midst.

Hot fuzzy sex? Coming right atcha. Scads of snarky humor. Enough Buffy bombs and cultural references to keep you on your toes. All of it flowing so smoothly, so effortlessly, that you’re guaranteed to forget. Forget that the sign of a born-to-be author is how easy they make it all seem. So grab a rack of baby-back ribs. A dozen maple-bacon cupcakes. Lock the door and kill your phone and ignore alien orders. You are now in the hands of Kat Kinney herself, the hands of a true master.

First of all, I would highly recommend you read Dark before you read Crave. And by the way Crave was an appropriate name for this book because now I am craving all kinds of foods and wondering why I have never been to Texas, all of the bbq! I really enjoyed this book, it blends the perfect amount of paranormal romance with action and a few really funny moments. I was happy to be back in the Caldwell brother's world, I hope they all get their HEA eventually. Just like with Dark, I love the main characters and their romance but I also really like the dynamic between all of the brothers and their differences. Lacey and Dallas had me laughing out loud at their texting and pranks. I can't wait until the next book in this series, I wonder which brother it will be?

Thanks to author Kat Kinney for an ARC for reviewing!

Spicy werewolf action!

The werewolf drama continues as Dallas and Lacey finally come back together after Ethan and Hayden's wedding. There's longing and heat and, oh yeah, some kind of vamp conspiracy? Basically, shit be cray, and I am HERE FOR IT. Looking forward to West and Topher's story!

It's HOT in Blood Moon, Texas, and not just because of the cupcake oven working overtime in Blair's Bakery. I loved the first book in this series, DARK, and loved getting Lacey's story--who we first encountered as a jilted lover (eh, wolf-booty-call?) in that earlier book, but now we are immersed in her story, which is messy and full of heartbreak, dating back a decade and one fateful night where everything about her life got torn from her: her family, her love, her innocence about the world she thought she inhabited. And the one who did this? Her best friend and forbidden love. Yes, this book gets physical in the best ways possible, but it does not skimp on the romance (ALL the FEELS) or the action (good thing these shifters eat a lot of delicious food) or, dare I say--an incredibly compelling plot that grips you by the scruff and doesn't let up until the end. I read this in just over a day and it would have been faster if I didn't have people distracting me. (I had to stop reading steamy scenes when children were present.) Gimme book three, stat.

Where do I start with this one? From the first line of this one I was hooked - so much so I had to read the book twice lol.
Dallas is not you typical alpha hero he's actually a pretty cool guy. I loved the banter he had with his brother and with his mate. There was something there that just made me smile. Lacey was a spitfire who I could relate to. Strong, resillient the perfect match for Dallas.
There were enough twists and turns in this book to keep me enthralled. An edge of danger, of familial discord, and secrets all blended together to create the perfect storm for Dallas and Lacey. Loved this book and can't recommend it enough.
If you haven't read Kat's books, I challenge you to grab them and read. You won't be disappointed. She's definitely a one-click author for me.

One thing I like about Kat Kinney’s books is that she excels at the paranormal romance genre. I am picky about what I read, especially because I didn’t enjoy the Twilight author’s writing style. Kinney, however, has well-fleshed-out characters. I never got the sense that Dallas or Lacey were simply stock paranormal beings. Instead, they have vibrant human personalities that are magnified by magical elements. In other words, paranormal challenges aside, the main characters have relatable struggles that made me care about them.

Lacey is sweet and sarcastic, and she loves Dallas despite the fact that he accidentally infected her. Dallas works through his guilt at having transformed Lacey, and while he sometimes succumbs to this guilt, he never becomes overly maudlin. So many obstacles are thrown in this couple’s way, yet they are committed to working through them.

On another note, Kinney’s writing can communicate sweetness, humor, and a ton of engaging angst. I enjoyed the second book in this series as much as I did Dark, the first book. As with the first book, though, the world-building is excellent, and the dialogue is superb and punchy. Highly recommended!

Finally a werewolf romance with action, plot and great writing.
Absolutely loved this. Two lead characters who manage to sound like real people with a real friendship, a supporting cast who come across as three dimensional and human (despite mostly being werewolves... ) a page turner of a plot that had me waking up early to get reading again to find out what happened.
I will definitely be looking for more from the author.

I'm a little behind on writing my reviews for Blood Moon, Texas Shifters, so I think I can quite confidently say that this is my favourite pairing. I loved the push and pull of Dallas and Lacey's relationship. The overarching plot was furthered in this book and had my interest piqued to see what happens next. Needless to say, I moved straight onto book 3!

This is a very good sequel to this Texas Shifters Saga. I really enjoyed Dallas and Lacey's Story. They have been in love since High School but have been star-crossed. These two have avoided each other because so many others feel they should not be together. However, sometimes, when two hearts are bonded, staying apart is an impossible task. This couple has a LOT of issues to work out, there is a lot of pain going on and some of it is physical but much of it is emotional baggage. And what is really cool is that besides the very sexy skirmishes, these two Werewolves are being attacked by Vampires, trying to solve a mystery of political intrigue between rival factions on the ruling council, and atte1mpting to solve their family issues. It is a complicated but very interesting plot. And hey, those undead keep dropping in at the most inopportune times! I love most series because the reader gets to re-visit characters from a previous book. And this one does that. It has recurring members of the pack, and the hero and heroine from book #1, Hayden and Ethan play a prominent role too. The conflict between Ethan and Dallas is interesting to see from a different point of view. As I said, there are a lot of issues going on with Dallas. The book solves much but creates more delicious intrigue as it progresses. I am sure intrigue will involve other members of the pack, and of course, I will love re-visiting them in future books. I can not wait until the next story is released. I need to know more about Topher. Heck, the pack has quite a few other brothers who need to have a Happily Ever after, too!

"I'd been subliminally conditioned by years of bedtime stories to fall over myself at the sight of a girl in a sour-cherry red hoodie. All those fairy tales couldn't be wrong."

Kat Kinney fans, rejoice! We're back in the world of the Blood Moon, of the Texas Shifters, and the Caldwells. Like any decent supernatural saga, Dallas and Lacey's love story is twisted and convoluted and complicated and oh so bittersweet--like that of Book 1 of the series (DARK). In CRAVE, life still isn't easy, and that's the underlying appeal of this book's fast-paced plot, impeccable world-building, and sizzling romance. As West says in the opening line: "Name one thing that could go wrong." Kinney takes her character's challenge to heart; she can think of several. :)

"Dude, this is Texas. Even the roadkill comes back to life after sunset."

A heartwarming (and forbidden) teenage romance turns into a long cherished friendship due to a soul-shattering mistake... but can those embers be stoked? Can new rights righten old wrong? Does chemistry ever really fade? Fans of "The Vampire Diaries", Robin McKinley's "Sunshine", Stephanie Meyers' "Twilight", and delicious old-timey fairytales will find much to love within these pages. Kinney writes of innocent high school romances as aptly as she writes of deadly supernatural skirmishes, hot erotic scenes, hilarious text exchanges, and (very relatable) adulting in a universe that includes the Bittens and the Borns. Best of all, there are 7 Caldwell werewolf boys, so something tells me we certainly haven't seen the end of the Texas Shifters...

"History was a double-edged sword. It was a wild first kiss shared between two sixteen-year-olds on a starry summer night that ten years had never been able to erase from your lips. It was a vast canvas of stars swirling overhead as a girl and a boy held hands in the back of a truck. It was eyes the color of the morning sky seared into a memory that took years to form a scar."

Crave is the second book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and we continue with Dallas and Lacey. They were teenage sweethearts but when Dallas managed to 'infect' Lacey with the werewolf gene, even at a time when it should have been impossible, both of their lives changed.

Lacey's mother had her memory taken, just like Ellie in the last book, but it has left her with paranoia and memory loss. Some of the things she finds on the internet made me chuckle! Because of this, Lacey and Dallas can't be 'together' even though they are still best friends. Both of them suffered during their separation and, really, it's hard to say who had it worst!

In this one, you get a great insight into the family dynamics as well as the relationship between Ethan and Dallas. I found those scenes incredibly well-written and it made my heart hurt for both of them.

Told from the first perspective from both Dallas and Lacey, this was just as fast-paced as Dark, with some serious fang-head action going on. I am loving the overall story arc and can't wait to continue with the series. Absolutely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

I absolutely loved Kat Kinney’s Crave. Don’t tell Hayden and Ethan but I loved it more than the first book in the series, Dark. In Dark, Lacey is the hero’s booty call with a checkered past. She gets booted when love interest Hayden, rekindles their old flame and I always felt bad for Lacey (who wasn’t an evil trying-to-get-him-back love triangle rival). Thank you to Kinney for giving Lacey her own love story in Crave where she gets the man she deserves— swoon-worthy Dallas.

Lacey is the cupcake queen with a heart of gold. She volunteers at the food pantry and takes in a kitten (who stole the show in her chapters). She is also Dallas’s high school sweetheart, but their relationship ended abruptly. Lacey rebuilt her life while Dallas was in exile, but the flames between them never died. I loved how their complicated past presented a real problem and no amount of sharing of feelings was going to solve it. I was on the edge of my seat until the last pages wondering if their HEA was possible.

While their relationship is complex and sad at times, their interactions are not. I loved the pranks they pulled to show their affection, and the banter via text message. This book is hilarious. The nicknames, verbal jabs, and steamy moments made me love them as a couple. I wanted Lacey to end up with gentle Dallas who makes the best BBQ in Blood Moon, Texas. Do not read this book on an empty stomach.

Overall, I loved this book. I’m so happy justice was served for Lacey – including a friendship with Hayden from Dark. Fans of Dark cannot miss this one, but this book can be read as a stand-alone.

In this second book of the "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series, the story focuses on werewolves Lacey and Dallas, two characters with only small roles in the first book. Lacey and Dallas have history and chemistry, issues and secrets. They're best friends. Or are they more?

Against the backdrop of increasing tensions between humans and paranormals, and among the paranormals, Lacey and Dallas work to figure out their lives. Like the first book, the story is told in first person from the two main character’s viewpoints, alternating, with some flashbacks, too, that help round out the characters. As the book progresses, it was wonderful to see the characters' growth.

The irreverent descriptions, nicknames, and commentary (from the characters' viewpoints) about the various events are great fun. The story is entertaining, with plenty of peril that helps keep the reader guessing about what (or who) is behind a new weapon against werewolves. The main characters' interactions are wonderful, often downright funny, and with some great sizzle, too. A very absorbing read and satisfying HEA!

Thank you to Kat Kinney for allowing me to read a copy of this book. I really enjoyed the story and the plot of this book. I felt like the romance suffered a bit, but it was still very enjoyable overall. And the twist at the end had my jaw drop down to bedrock. It was just such a good book overall, even if there were places where I didn't enjoy it. But I highly recommend this series overall.

Dallas and Lacey are pure magic. I did not want to put this book down. Some love stories go through what seems like insurmountable odds and from the start I found myself rooting for them to find the path. Honesty, family, and lots of really wonderful banter.
Great world building and many characters to love. The Texas vibes make my Austin heart so happy. I’m on to the next book in the series!

Okay, this book was exactly what I needed in the age of "why is the world ending?" Funny, sexy, great plot and excellent prose--I was hooked! I've read all the author's books and the writing in this one was next-level amazing.

"As she lay her head against my shoulder, I realized it was possible to love a thousand versions of a person." I mean...*sigh*. The romance lover in me teared up at the entire scene that contained this sentence.

Add in a reference to my favorite taco place I can never frequent because I live in NJ (Torchy's!!) and the sage advice from the heroine to "never wear cupcake-print panties on the day you plan to be attacked by vampires," and you've got a winner in my book! The chemistry between Lacey and Dallas was hot and the book sets up the next installments in the series nicely. Can't wait to read those as well! If you love paranormal romance with some humor and smokin' hot love scenes, this is your jam!

Dallas lost Lacey the night he accidentally infected her with the virus that made her a werewolf. He was exiled and shunned, but now he's made a name for himself by opening a restaurant - right across the street from where Lacey works. Avoiding her is impossible. Being with her is almost just as impossible. Because it's his fault she lost everything.

I am really enjoying this series. The overarching plot connecting the books is intriguing and strong, which keeps me coming back for more. We're being introduced slowly to Kinney's world of shifters, without a deluge of information, and we're also being encouraged to fall in love with this dysfunctional family. So I'm definitely sticking around for more.

Amazing sequel story

Love love love this! Dallas and Lacey have been circling each other for years. You can just tell they have feelings for each other. Throw in vampires causing problems and family issues and it is one heck of a story.

I have to say i relate to Dallas better than Ethan. Dallas made a mistake that he feels he has to pay for, not realizing that he already had. It really feels like what he needs is to talk to his dad, which he cant do right now. I hope he gets the chance.

Dallas and Lacey are on fire! This second book in the series took me places I wasn't expecting. The plot keeps getting more twisty for this wolf pack, and the romance is getting hotter. I also love all the authentic, Texas-specific details in this series, as well as the snarky banter. I can't wait to find out where Kinney takes this story in the next book!
