BOOK TWO of the bestselling, award-winning Conjurer Fellstone series that began with DREADMARROW THIEF.
The adventure continues as Tessa, Calder, and Ash set out to cure Tessa's mother, Faline. After the Conjurer Lord Queshire of Blackgrove listens to their appeal, he takes Calder hostage and demands Tessa and Ash bring him the Gravenwood, a magical wooden tablet owned by the ruling family of neighboring Fairlace, now headed by Tessa’s uncle, Mace Eldred and his wife, Odelia Catwick. But our heroes have no idea how they will steal it. No one has ever managed the feat before, despite that many covet the Gravenwood’s unique power, which can make whoever possesses it invincible.

Readers’ Comments “I like that this was a standalone book and it wasn't that important to read the first book to understand the second. I thought it was an interesting story full of cool characters and an exciting fantasy adventure. The author’s pretty talented.” Female reader, age 15 “This is a good fantasy adventure for teenagers. There's plenty of mystery in it which I liked, and it was fun to work out what was going to happen next. I never did which is a good sign of a good novel.” Male reader, age 15 “The three central characters have good chemistry which I think is important in a novel.” Female reader, age 14 “I love that the characters were not just brave but also were clever and were able to outsmart the problems facing them.” Male reader, age 15 “This a thrilling adventure with fantasy elements in it. The central protagonists were strong and bold and worked well together. Thankfully, there's not a lot of romance which I hate. The author is very good at keeping things moving and having lots of things happening. This is a good book for teenagers.” Male reader, age 16
To Sum It Up: ‘A strongly-plotted fantasy adventure packed full of charismatic characters. A finalist and highly recommended to young adults.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
Gravenwood picks up where Dreadmarrow Thief left off at Fellstone castle and immediately jumps into a new and exciting tale. Personally, I enjoyed Gravenwood even more than Dreadmarrow Thief. The characters, particularly Tessa and Ash really start to come into their own and their relationship develops throughout the story. Calder continues to amuse and remained my favorite character. I found Tessa's devotion to her mother touching and it is her love and passion that really ties all of the characters together.
For me, the best part about Gravenwood is the depth of the story telling and the plot is pushed forward in every chapter. I would recommend this book for any fantasy-lover out there, particularly for young-adults. If you haven't read Dreadmarrow Thief, do that first!
I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator’s tone matches Tessa perfectly. Second book in an exciting fantasy series for middle school age and up, and for adults too. Tessa, Ash and Calda continue to second guess themselves, if only they actually openly discussed their thoughts and feelings, but that’s not going to happen. They bring the skills of magic, inventiveness and a warrior’s swords to the challenges they face. As I listened to books two and three it struck me here are all the hallmarks found in the well known epic fantasy series, but for a younger audience. Listen/read book one before this one, if you can, as the story in this book follows on directly from that. The story concludes in book three, already published. Thank you to Margie Benedict for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
The saga of Tessa, Ash & Calder continued! I really like this as much as "Dreadmarrow Thief". The 3 went from one bad situation to another but their strong bond helped them persevere each trial even if they were apart. Can't wait to read the conclusion of their adventures.
Some people may not like this because you can please all the people all the time. But I read to be entertained and this didn't disappoint.
A whole new wonderful adventure. The characters were engaging and conjure to develop and grow. The storyline full of danger, surprises, twists and turns and suspense. The story is told from the three main adventure’s point of view. This allowed insight into their thoughts, feelings, motivations and actions. This was an engaging story that left me wanting to read more about these amazing characters in this interesting world.
Second instalment of the Thieves of Magic trilogy and the adventure continues. Tessa saved her mother but she still th8nks she is a bird. Tessa must find a cure with the help of Ash and Calder. Tessa must unlock her conjurer skills.
Very well written and well narrated novel (I listened to the audiobook). Excellent characters who support each other through thick and thin, no matter the d@nger. Well paced novel of magic, adventure, friendship and hope.
This is the second installment in the "The Conjurer Fellstone" series and is as addictive and captivating as the first one! A YA fantasy adventure, with a romantic plot, and an intriguing plotline that gets better and better with each chapter. I highly recommend the series for all fans of YA fantasy.
