A rash of attacks on humans in their territories has one purpose and one purpose only - to cause chaos within the Blue Mountain Pack territory. Newly bitten wolves need a lot of time and care, that is, if they survive. One of these humans just so happens to be Liam's mate.
Zoe is a trauma nurse who spent most of her life raising her sister after their mom left. Everything was left to her since their dad had to work two, sometimes three jobs to support them on his own. Zoe took care of their family put herself through the nursing school. Ever since her mom left, Zoe refused to rely on anyone, no matter how lonely she is.
When Liam finds her in the forest with a brand new bite from a wolf shifter, Zoe will have to learn how to rely on someone else again or lose everything she'd worked so hard for.
Sorry but she was a horrid person at the beginning of the book.
Zoe is camping in the woods with Chris her friend, when they’re attacked by wolves and both bitten. Liam rescues her and stays with her while she recovers. As soon as she comes round she’s blaming everyone for what happened and she’s really angry about the whole mate thing with Liam. And this is a personal preference for me, I hate controlling, domineering women!!! She likes being the boss in bed and wants to do what she wants. I felt like telling Liam to man up!!!
Kai the alpha comes across as an arse in this book and expects everyone to be really subservient to him. And yes I know that’s the Wolf way but he talks to Liam in a way that I really don’t like. But then the scene was set in the beginning book as the twins came across as simpering and weak in the first book.
If you like your men strong, don’t read this book.
It’s the twins’ turn! Liam uses a witch to track him mate and sees just enough to know she’s about to be attacked on the edge of their territory. He and Noah race to the rescue, but it’s too late. She’s already been bitten. Zoe is a fiercely independent trauma nurse as stubborn and opinionated as you’ll find. And she does not need a man to complete her. I liked the different dynamics in this one. Liam is a submissive wolf, so he’s more of a calming guidance sort of character who diffuses situations, whereas Zoe is a take charge, no holds barred kind of person. I would have liked a little more information about the Cascade and some of the other newly turned wolves, because it was constantly happening but we really get no information about it. It’s quite an insular story (which is fine, and completely normal for this type of book), but it kept mentioning this wider world without really being able to see it. It’s distinctly different from the other stories in this series, which is always more enjoyable to read. There are quite a few new elements added to the world in this one, so it’ll be interesting to see where they go.
Zoe and her friend Chris were attacked by wolves while hiking. Luckily the two trauma nurses were found quickly by Liam and his twin Noah. Liam recognizes that Zoe is his mate and makes every effort to save her. This fiery female has a dominant side that many find abrasive and off putting. Liam is pretty laidback and is willing to give his tiny mate whatever she needs to be happy. Zoe and Chris will be valuable members to ensure the future of the Blue Mountain Wolf Pack.

Wow, Liam found his mate and I love them together!
I thought for sure Olivia would be next in line to get her HEA but it was a pleasant surprise to find Liam getting his HEA and with someone who really compliments him, since she is willing to stick up for him when he won't do it for himself. And I loved watching how she stood up to Kai the Alpha and made him realize that they needed to act if they want to save the pack.
This was another good book by Emma Dean. In my experience through the thousand plus books I've read over the last 5-6 years, I've not really read many books that have a female main character dominant in the same way that the character in this one is. I enjoyed how Zoe slowly let down her barriers to try to connect with Liam, and how he willingly gave her control and space as needed. I'm really intrigued to see how interactions between Zoe and Kai may happen later on 🤔
Brilliant read. Zoe never thought getting bit by a wolf and getting thrown into a different way of living and thinking would actually suit her and even a mate who could put up with her cranky ways.
This book takes on the journey of Liam and his mate Zoe. With humans being bitten and turned against their will the Blue Mountain pack need to decide what to do about. This story shows there is still more to come.
