The second story from McGann's Eighth Doctor strand in the Time Lord Victorious series picks up straight from the previous audio as The Daleks summon a unique alliance as they try to locate the source of a disturbance in time.

It's a clever jump on point as The Doctor's capture opens up the adventure, the fact that the Daleks are worried about the Wraxians - a civilisation that shouldn't exist.

There's plenty of tension through as The Daleks are at their manipulative best, can they really be trusted?
The various individual members of the Dalek Time Squad are each distinctively played by Nick Briggs, all have their own traits and ideas of what should happen on Wrax.

The subtle links to the other strands of TLV don't seem so obvious at first and that is what is so great about the series, it's obviously more rewarding getting all the stories to spot the various references but they've made it easily accessible for everyone.

Yet again the ending was really great and excited to hear the next installment of this trilogy.

Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious: The Enemy of My Enemy segue a ruota Doctor Who: He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not.

Holey Moley!
The Doctor and the Dalek Time Squad, working together?! Clearly, it’s the end times.
While I haven’t been too overly impressed with this multimedia crossover as yet, although it’s still early, this one ... this one was stunning! This could have been loaded with typical clichés with the Daleks and The Doctor teaming up, but it’s handled in a gorgeously innovated way. The Daleks are not only as vicious and ruthless as they usually are, but they’re also ... the most deceptive as I’ve ever seen them. McGann’s Doctor is as lovely as he always is. And some really outstanding musical scoring. This is good stuff. Wonderful and brilliant.

2020 52 Book Challenge - 29) An Award Winning Novel

I loved this audiobook. You can tell from listening that Paul McGann is comfortable in the role, which makes the whole audiobook flow very well. I'm not majorly up to date with the Time Lord Victorious series, I think I've read one of the novels and this audiobook and half of another one, but it was still pretty easy to follow the plot and it was really enjoyable. Who wouldn't love a Doctor Who novel where the Doctor has to work with the Daleks???

Apparently, this won a Scribe Award, which I had never heard of before and which I subsequently fell down a rabbit hole researching.

Chris Chibnall owes James Goss a thank-you note for giving Doctor Who fans something besides the implications of the Timeless Child to focus on during (yet another) gap year in new installments.

The second installment in the Paul McGann entry of the "Time Lord Victorious" arc features the Daleks (because, of course, we can't not have the Daleks in there somehow) and builds on the foundation provided by "He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not." "The Enemy of My Enemy" is a bit more successful and entertaining of a story than the previous installment, though I couldn't help but feel there was some potential overlooked here. Some of the connections to the larger story come through here -- especially the weapon held by the Wrax. There are probably Easter eggs to other installments of this series that I'm either not getting because I haven't experienced them yet or I wasn't taking notes as I listened to/read other parts.

McGann is up to his usual standard of excellence here, proving once again that he would have been a great on-screen Doctor if he'd been given the chance. Nicholas Briggs once again gives us an impressive array of Dalek voices and he even manages to make most of them distinctive enough that this listener could tell which Dalek was speaking. I will admit that years of watching classic Who has me expecting Davros to turn up at some point, but I am thinking that's more and more unlikely.

The story builds to a point and then ends of a cliffhanger. As the middle installment of a trilogy, a lot of what we're getting here is moving pieces into place for the end game to come. I'm interested enough that I will listen to part three.

This was a nice little B-movie plot playing out- something I need to be in the mood for.
Luckily, today was a day where some B-movie material was just what I needed.
I find it interesting that last time we got a Western (kind of) and now we got a sci-fi B movie.
I wonder what they go for next?
I found it enjoyable and I also appreciated that Nick was doing something different with the Daleks and really made an effort for them to be all very distinct.

Otherwise... have I mentioned lately that I am a bit tired of Daleks?

Plus, Nick also playing one of the characters... really threw me out of the story. I know, lockdown and small casts and so on... but since Nick is so distinctive, and a big part of the release was Nick already talking to himself a lot, having him also play another character was... distracting.

All in all, enjoyable enough.

It appears that one can dispense with the previous story, He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not. The trick with TLV is to figure out which stories make significant contributions to the arc and which are merely tangential. This is one of the former.

Non spoiler:
I'll be honest I wasn't too excited about the TLV stuff but I thought I'd check out the Dalek stuff and it definitely has delivered so far, with comics and the animated series. It's almost making me want to dive into other stuff. So the Daleks have captured the doctor for an alliance to stop worst aliens out there and we meet another race of warmongers. What I liked straight away was the warmongers were just written like normal people who have stolen and kept things from the victory's because why not. We then get shown the terrible weapon that they own and of course the Daleks want it. The story is very simple and nothing ground breaking or OMG moments happen, yet it's just a bloody enjoyable story. I've often said a good story doesn't need a million plots and twists to be very enjoyable. But there are some really heartwarming scenes between 8 and Sarathin, especially when he's given such an easy option. The characters of the Daleks in this TLV truly makes this so enjoyable and especially at the end in what would be predictable. The Dalek prime strategist is also at his most manipulative and sets up a great sequel in December. The score on this its such a beautiful highlight especially in that one scene.
Rating: 4/5 or 8/10

Spoilers!
The weapon of the warmongers which can reverse any species back to there begins and how they justice why they use it on themselves etc I really liked and makes sense why they want to control things and start again. The highlight scene for me is when Sarathin gives 8th the Daleks DNA to use in the weapon and he refuses, telling her to look outside at the carnage the Dalek have caused in a almost manipulative way of you needed this to happen to you and even in there carnage the Daleks bring hope and people together. The ending although predictable is actually bloody good and makes these TLV Daleks stand out especially the Dalek executioner who just really wants to kill and gets his wish, stealing and using the warmongers weapon on them without the doctor knowing.

Vast improvement over the first installment. I guess there's a sort of plot arc coming together now, but this one doesn't really get us there until the end. Nevertheless, it's better than He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not by a long shot. The Doctor is forced to assist the Daleks who are searching for an explanation for a bunch of time anomalies. The Doctor's wondering the same thing. Who's been mucking about with established history, and why? The answer, as far as this episode is concerned, isn't an entirely new idea, but perhaps a slightly different spin on it.

Still, given how this episode ends, it seems like we're getting two whole episodes before arriving at the actual start of this multimedia miniseries, and unless we get something like the return of Brian, He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not seems a rather pointless beginning.

Also, McGann sounds utterly bored at the beginning of this episode. He gets better later on, but it was a bad start. And yet, I'll still give this four stars, possibly because it was such an improvement over the preceding episode.

Despite all the hype of the Time Lord Victorious multi-platform series, I have followed the releases religiously as they have come out. This is the first time that I've felt that the story has earned its place. The other have been ... well, a bit ... meh! In the Enemy of my Enemy, we see Doctor VIII as placed in a moral dilemma, ultimately (appearing to) align himself with his enemies against a common foe. Something has taken over from where the Koturuh left off. And so there's brief links to other parts of the TLV products, for example the Master's Short Trips stories and The novel The Knight, the Fool and the Dead. As I say, this earns its place: it comes to a conclusion that finishes this story, although it still feels like it's just a part of the bigger picture.

But the downside is, as with "He Kills me, he Kills me not", the length of this piece. somewhere around the 50-55 minute lark and the rest is interviews with the cast which, once again, can be summarised as "It wasn't easy recording this during the lockdown".

So, good story, fits in with the TLV series, just not much of it.

This time we are jumping full swing into the main plot of the Time Lord Victorious, and we finally get to see some of the interesting outcomes of 10's work. (Though, it's not nearly as catastrophic as I was expecting. Maybe there is more to come?)

The whole plot revolves around a great hypothetical question about whether or not it would be right to restart civilizations in order to make them "better" or more morally aligned with society's expectations. (At this point we can guess the 10th Doctor would be 100% on board. In fact, I suspect there is an ancient connection between the people in this story and the 10th Doctor. Maybe they are doing his work, who knows? We'll see!)

Really, this episode is just a connection piece to get the 8th Doctor to the Dark Times, but it is already setting up the moral split between 8 and 10. I can't wait to see them face off. (With 9 coming along too of course.)

And now I need a long-term Dalek companion. I vote Dalek Strategist. The awkward banter between those two was honestly the best part.

ラクシオンの挨拶の「May we meet again」がどうしても「The 100」っぽくって!

7/10
Verdict: Optional

A solid Dalek story where the Doctor has to team up with his worst enemies to face a species that is committing atrocities. Sounds generic, but the dialogue in this really sells it, especially the standoff at the end between the three races. The Dalek Strategist was a fun character, I didn't believe his friendliness for a second but neither did the characters so it's alright.

This was my favourite part of Time Lord Victorious so far. It sees the Eighth Doctor team up with the excellent dalek time squad to investigate a deadly race. The Doctor/dalek team-up is fantastic with McGann being as fantastic as ever in his banter with the daleks and the daleks are at their most deceptive ever.

Strong 7/10. A solid big finish episode with an interesting villain, good use of the Daleks in a unique way, and an interesting mystery for the Doctor to solve. Unlike the episode before this one, it moves along at a quick pace and keeps you engaged. Supported by some great music as well. A definite recommend from me

The Enemy of My Enemy follows both the previous in the Eighth Doctor trilogy and Titan Comics' Defender of the Daleks, something it does brilliantly. You have to give it to the whole Time Lord Victorious storyline, it is so excellently planned-out.

The Eighth Doctor is one of the Doctors that I just love seeing interact with the Daleks. The banter and the wit that every author brings to their interactions is just wonderful to listen to. That aspect is the highlight of this one. McGann can sometimes seem a little bored with the role of the Doctor, but you can tell that he's loving this.

For me, Time Lord Victorious works best when going through the stories rather quickly. I binged through the entirety of the Daleks! animated series a couple days ago and I think that aided this rather well. Following the plot of the Dalek Time Squad like this is very enjoyable for me and I'm looking forwards to All Flesh is Grass where they next pop up.

I think I’ve gotten to a point where I’m feeling Dalek fatigue. The Doctor does turn down the idea of committing genocide against them, but we’ve seen this type of thing explored so much already. Ending has kind of a hook I guess.

Another great 8th Doctor story wherein the Doctor allies with the Daleks to stop a threat even more dangerous than the Daleks themselves.

Well, that was a good listen. I'm not sure I like the Doctor being this easy to manipulate, but the story itself was riveting. Bring on "the dark times"!

The Enemy of My Enemy shows an interesting conflict between two ruthless races, both with the means and dubious morality to wipe out all life as we know it. I found that concept rather fascinating, especially when they could throw the Doctor into the thick of it, and they did.

The wraxians, basically playing as a mirror to the daleks have plenty of differences that set them apart. For one thing, they have ambitions beyond killing other races which made them a-million times more interesting than the daleks. The other, people reason with them, which made conversations intelligent. We seldom get that with the daleks. I would have routed for them against the daleks and even empathised with their losses despite their almost views on anything that is not them. They made for such an interesting race, albeit morally wrong in every way, and I want to hear more of them. They have some marvel potential in stories which would otherwise belong to the daleks if only Nick Briggs, head of Big Finish, voice of the daleks and patron of all things dalek would give them a chance.

As for the story, it felt a bit directionless for a while. We got plenty of setup but not too much in the way of story. Ultimately the plot sagged a little, which was a shame after spending all that time world building with the wraxians. Their conclusion was rather annoying as well. I understand the dalek mindset so well that it did not surprise me at all, what they did. The daleks are so predictable and here they are doing more of the same.

I think this story did allot to set up an interesting new race to rival the daleks, but the plot was a bit lacklustre, and the ending frustrated me, both at the predictability of the daleks and the state if the wraxians.
