Spell's Angels #4

Cut to the Crone

Rate this book
Scout Randall needs answers on a past she can’t remember … and when an associate introduces her to an individual who claims to have known her family way back when, she believes those answers might finally be accessible. That falls by the wayside, though, when a tanned vampire lands in her backyard in the middle of the night … and he has a magical teenager in tow.
Sami Winters is all mouth and determination … and she’s looking for her parents. Scout wants to help, but handling a teenager like Sami isn’t as easy as it looks on the surface. By the time her wayward parents catch up with her – including a mother who is rumored to be the most powerful mage in the world – Scout finds herself knee-deep in a new adventure.
It seems female shifters in the area are going missing and rogue vampires from areas unknown are on the prowl. Sami Winters is a hybrid, part-wolf and part-mage, and she’s a coveted ally in what’s being described as a coming war. Scout has no choice but to join with the newcomers to figure out what’s going on.
Vampires and werewolves working together is unheard of, right? Maybe not. If the signs are right, it seems a new enemy is brewing, and Scout is going to need help taking down an entire army of paranormal foes.
At the end of the day, she just wants to know who she is and where she came from. The answers might be closer than she ever imagined.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Not the best

I felt like the Spell’s Angels and Scout were secondary in this book. It was all about Zoe and her family. If you want more to their story then write more books for them in their series. I hate when a “crossover” is all about the “guests” instead of the characters the series is about. We got a few good tidbits about Scout but the Winters overshadowed everything. I can honestly say Sami is one of the most annoying characters ever and I wished someone would smack her most of the book. Another thing that bugged me is Scout telling Zoe that she wished she had healing magic but correct me if I’m wrong, she healed Raisin when her dad beat her up in I believe was the first book. If you go by the books so far in the series Scout seemed just as powerful as Zoe but I guess the things she did before didn’t actually happen? Anyway I still love Amanda’s books but I want a full on Scout book. I’m really starting to hate the crossovers although the Werewolf Whoops was written pretty good because the Winters didn’t take over that one.

4.5 Stars... Scout's memories of her past are a blank slate, but there is hope found in an elderly shaman who may have the ability to shed light on her identity and the extent of her abilities... The question is, is Scout ready for the truth to be revealed? As these issues come to light, a new threat presents itself in the form of a coalition between vampires and werewolves, and an old nemesis is leading the charge... Enter in some old, familiar faces in the Winters Family (Zoe, Aric, and Sami /Plus the lovable Raphael) and all hell is about to break loose in Hawthorne Hollow... Witty remarks and sarcastic interchange run rampant with these characters as they learn to work together and trust one another to defeat a common enemy... In the end some truths surface that change Scout's life forever if she is brave enough to face them... Action packed from the start with engaging characters adding levity to an otherwise intense story... A truly fun and entertaining read that leaves me wanting more:)

Oh this was a good one I loved the addition of Zoe, Aric and Sammy oh and of course her vampire lol Sammy is highly entertaining I can not wait for her to meet the Grimlocks...
But back to this book it was a great story, a solid mystery to unravel, a magical showdown to win and Scout got more information on her past even if she wasn’t all that happy with it...lol Scout still has a lot to figure out it’s a good thing she has a great support team behind her and now she has more help from Zoe if she ever needs it.

Cut to the Crone is Book 4 in the Spell's Angel's Series. I really enjoy this series so far.
This is a crossover with Scout from the Spells Angels and Zoe from the Covenant College series.
I haven't read the Covenant College Series, so that made this book not as enjoyable as the first three.

Still a really good story with more revealed about Scout's past which was great. I love Scout and Gunner together and the magic is so well written.

Can't wait to read more in this series.

A few inconsistencies like the healing magic and the paranormal nexus were distracting at times. But looking forward to Scout learning more about herself in the next book!

Keeps you reading!

Disappointing reveal after all the snark from main characters. Should have finished more of the story. I love this author and have enjoyed many stories but this on e left an unsatisfactory taste.

Liked the book, but Inconsistent with Scout's powers and felt like filler.

In book 1, Raisin was severely injured. Scout was able to diagnose all the internal injuries and heal Raisin ending in a memory flash for Scout. In this book, Zoe is featured. Zoe heals several different characters throughout the book. Scout is amazed and at one point wishes she had that power. What? Major editing miss and kind of spoiled the book for me. Sounds lame I know, but I spend money on these books/audio and revisit this authors series. I liked Zoe, Aric and Sami being included in this story. However, they appeared to be the more significant characters. I wish someone had fact checked when trying to display how much more powerful Zoe is than EVERY other main character. I like this authors crossovers, but major miss in fact checking and the story seemed to be more focused on the Winters.

Drake returns bringing a guest who gives Scout some info on her past. By the end, you know more about Scout's background. But the overall mystery of why she was abandoned is still up in the air. The prologue focuses on an event in Scouts past where she lost her partner. The villain in that scene makes an appearance later but no confrontation with Scout leaving the scene unresolved. The mystery in this one centers on the Winters who are being threatened by vampires. They end up near Scouts cabin in a battle which results in a confrontation the next day where the two teams join forces. I really felt this one was more of a filler book laying groundwork for what comes next for Scout AND Zoe's planned visit to Detroit to help Izzy in the Death gate series. I probably would have enjoyed the book more if the next one was available. Right now there just seems to be a lot of dangling threads unresolved. Particularly when the characters with answers are present the entire time.

Not good

This wasn’t a great story or even a good one. Usually it takes me maybe a half a day to a day to read one of these books, this one took me 3 days because it was so poorly done. I’m tired of all the crossover between series. A comment here or there is one thing, even a chapter, OK, but an entire story centered around characters from another series, isn’t what I wanted to read for this series. If you have to include other series characters to develop a story then be sure to have the plot make sense as to why they would run into one another. This random drive-by concept isn’t good, especially when taking into account such ‘powerful’ characters in such a small region together. Better to make it they meet on purpose because they had heard of one another and thought it would be good to make an ally or check out the competition.

Of course the Scout character isn’t all that remarkable anyway. Take any of the heroines from one of the other series, wash, bleach, rinse and look, an all new character, but not really. They all happened to be the most super powered person and most unique individual, they can’t all be the biggest and baddest. So Michigan has what 3, 4 ultimate powered females in its border, possibly more. Then don’t forget to add in the most infuriatingly boring boyfriend/husband feasible. None of the various series’ relationships have any substance. They all talk and react to each other like ridiculous narcissistic high school aged children think a relationship is supposed to be like, not what a real marriage or commitment is or what they take to grow and develop.

So enough of blah-Scout, on to Aric and Zoe. How many annoyances can you make about their daughter. She gets that from you, she gets that from me. Enough already! How about she gets her vapid existence from both of them and all three should shut up about it. I have heard parents make those same comments, once or twice over months or years, not 15-20 times in the same day. If they do make them that often it’s usually only as they are on the way to divorce court to rid themselves of their worst partner, while trying to verbally hurt them as much as possible. Even then, it’s certainly not as consistently often as these two morons bitch about it. Not to mention, if they did, that would give any kid hearing it a huge complex about themselves, as nothing good or even bad is ever of themselves, instead they are just a combination of their parents. They can’t be an individual in their own right only as a twisted version of their combined parentage.

The author continues to make comments regarding reality TV and the Kardashians, which I agree are the utmost lowest quality of human life and leading to the destruction of society. Yet her characters are just as lame and uninspiring as what she complains about. I personally think the author considers shows like that, her guilty pleasure to watch when she has time, instead of hating them as she writes in her books. The bit of attitude and snarky comments I can enjoy, in small amounts, but the rest has become ridiculous.

The story is redundant and formulaic as all of her series as of late. Does she even take the time to create anything new, or just beat the same dead horse attempting to get one more inch of dialogue to write, even if it’s not worthwhile. Let the horse go, it’s dead already, time to move on and create something new. Hopefully the author has heard the term quality over quantity. Time to step up and create something of quality, instead of another hackneyed piece of boring blathering. Yes, these are supposed to be a fun light read, and being a Cozy Paranormal Mystery, they should have a similar conceptual feel, but any more each story reads as if from the same template. The template reads as this chapter must have new character, this chapter the repose and add sexual tension. Next chapter is for the first twist and of course the ending with the bigger finale multiple story arc twist, until the final scene where you have the heroine and partner confessing their love and how strong she was and how supportive he has been for her. Boring repetition.

The last issue is for the author and her editors. In the previous book you mention both born and made vampires, yet in this book you have Scout saying she’s never heard of born vampires before this. Big whoopsie! Also, through the entire book, you mention about the Archimage book and various other things regarding Zoe, Sami and each of their powers, but then later after something had already been said to Scout regarding the book or another trait for Zoe or Sami, you have Scout saying, I think maybe I heard that somewhere, or maybe before. Yeah, they said it to her, directly about the issue in question, within an earlier chapter. Scout’s memory of her childhood is problematic but not her memory when it comes to current conditions or her job, at least never in the past books did you give her this weak memory retention. Very poor editing, not to mention lazy writing technique.

Amanda M. Lee, make yourself NOTES

It’s bad enough that I want to strangle every macho man significant other in just about every series written by this author. They are literally all the same egotistical, whiney, insecure, emotionally abusive asshats.

I cannot tolerate plot holes so big that I want to chuck my phone across the room.

In Book 2 of the Death Gate series, Izzy makes herself and Braden invisible. A few books later, when Zoe rolls into town, all of a sudden Izzy doesn’t have that power, never did.

In Book 2 of this series, Scout heals Raisin after her father beats her. A couple of books later when Zoe rolls into town, Scout watches Zoe heal 3 different people and mentions it would be a great power to have.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?

How hard is it to make a document in your computer or write notes on a board listing all of the powers you’ve given your witches and refer back to the list so that you’re not contradicting yourself?

The firefighter who found Scout. In Book 1, he died a few weeks after from a heart attack. A few books later, he still checked on her every month. WHICH IS IT?!?

Lee writes too many series at a time. That’s crystal clear. She cannot keep up with what she’s written and it’s something an inexperienced author would do.

She’s also essentially writing the same characters and dialogue over and over again. Pick any page from this series where Gunner and Scout are going round and round about how much they care or bickering or how the male needs to always protect his woman (particularly pages with just ‘he’s’ and she’s’ instead of names) and readers could not be sure if it’s Gunner and Scout, Landon and Bay, or Jack and Charlie.

It’s bad enough that just like Charlie in another series, Scout was given up by a magical family on the run at the age of 4. And just like Charlie, she’s being a child about handling the info of her past.

I was SO excited to read this crossover but the powers thing and how utterly worse Sami Winters was in this book ruined it.

Also, Evan? The town thinks Mama Moon’s bear at a kid years ago named Evan. Now Scout had a partner named Evan. All the names out there and it’s Evan for both?
In Bays books, a kid named Granger took a gun to school. In this book, Gunner has a cousin named Granger, old enough to have kids. Both live in Hemlock Cove?
Sure. Granger is such a common name.

With the exception of Mystic Caravan and Death Gate, there’s no character growth in the other series, including this one. Characters are stagnant. They are just marking time. Maybe it would help to skip more than 2 weeks in each book of each series. At this point, all current books, according to the authors timeline, are in the past. They cannot be current.

Not a bad book, but the first three were better

I loved the first three books and zipped through them in less than two days. They were definitely five-star paranormal mysteries.

I kept getting thrown out of the story with number four, though, because bits of it didn't make sense.

In book one, Scout heals Raisin, and the other characters make a big deal about it. In book four, though, she can't heal and makes a point of saying, "That healing thing you do is pretty handy... I wouldn't mind having that power." So did Scout just forget that she could heal?

In book three, Scout explained to the other team members about the difference between born vampires and made vampires. But in book four, a new character mentions born vampires, and Scout says, "I didn't know that was a thing." Then the other character explains to Scout the same information that Scout explained in the previous book.

When Scout moved between planes to get through a barrier in the last book, the tactic was her idea and she went to Mama Moon to ask specifically for help plane walking. In book three she said that she only went down one plane to the "shadow plane," which sounds like she knows at least a little bit about plane walking. In this book, though, Scout describes it as, "A local witch helped me figure it out. I still don't know how it worked. I sort of made myself fluid when slipping though. Oh, and invisible." That didn't make any sense to me, and really distracted me while I was reading.

Maybe if the author had added a bit about how Scout wanted to keep her knowledge secret so that Zoe (the new character) would underestimate her, then it would have made more sense.

I am going to read the next books in the series because the first books were so good. I hope that the next books are more like those first three, though, because book four was awkward to read. It was kind of like the author didn't read her own books.

Distracting Plot Errors!

Don’t you hate when you’re reading a book series and they totally get things wrong?

In the first three books it was a huge plot line when Scout used magic to heal Raisin after her dad beat her horribly. Scout used so much energy healing Raisin that Scout almost died from doing it.

However, in book 4, Scout says she WISHES she could HEAL with magic like Zoe does! I’m like, “she healed Raisin and almost died. What’s this new plot where you WISH you could heal people?!??!?” I mean, that’s a MAJOR discrepancy in this book series.

In book 1, Raisin was sent to live with the GRANDMOTHER after her dad was arrested. There were additional plot lines that included the grandmothers whose name is Irene. Raisin has no other family besides her grandmother which was clearly evident in the first three books.

Now in book 4, and it is said that Raisin was removed from her abusive dad and sent to live with the GRANDFATHER. Never has a grandFATHER been mentioned.

In cases like these, it makes me think it’s not one singular person who writes these books. It has to be a team of people who can’t get their story straight. And what about the editor? Don’t you have someone who reads the books and helps keep the details straight?

I’m moving on to book 5, and I sure hope these plot errors don’t continue because I love this series… even though it’s extremely similar to the Wicked Witches of the Midwest when it comes to the main characters dialogue.

This series keeps getting better and more intense each book. I love the story, but I LOVE THE WINTERS FAMILY. They are by far by favorites characters of all the ongoing series or completed series that are tied together in what I think will end together somehow. We finally got real action like only Zoe can do and the laughs were aplenty. Loved this book. Scout's story is about to really kick into gear now so I am looking forward to the next book. There were a couple of things that bothered me here though. “Rafael is a born Vampire.” I stilled. “ I didn’t know that was a thing.” Scout did know that was a thing because she had just explained it to the Spell's Angels in the previous book when dealing with Armand, so that seemed to be a mistake in writing. Also, Scout acted as if she couldn't heal people with her magic, well that's not true, she healed Raisin in an earlier book and healed Gunner of lesser injuries so her suddenly not knowing how to heal people didn't make sense to me. Also at points Scout acted as if she didn't know anything about the Archimage when Emma had mentioned it to her in this very book. Maybe the author writes these at different times as vision and then ties them altogether as it plays out in various book series, I dunno, but I was confused by these things here. Still, it was a great story, my favorite so far in this series and I highly recommend it.

Good Mystery

The storyline was very interesting. The vampires are back, and even more than before. Ellen, a woman rescued from the vampires in the last book, is back. And she is acting very creepy. And the fun part of the storyline is the Winters family has come to take out some bad vampires. Teenage Sami is funny as she manipulates her father and gets herself and "her vampire" in hot water. The 14 year old wants to be treated as a woman, not a child, and insists that her vampire, Raphael, is her future mate. Then she acts like a child running into her Daddy's arms for comfort. But watch out, this 14 year old packs a powerful punch! Almost as powerful as her mother, Zoe. If you are unfamiliar with these characters, you have got to read the Covenant College series. So good. Anyways, there were several loose ends not tied up in this book, such as the two bad vamps from Scout's past, the female shifters concerns with their pack, and of-course, Scout herself, her past, her family, and her powers. But it does feel like we are getting closer to resolution. I did enjoy this book very much.

Scout and Gunner run into the infamous Zoe, Sami, Rafael, and Aric in this book. In my opinion Zoe makes any book better because she's such a badass. Scout is always searching for more answers as to where she comes from and in this book she gets some huge revelations, about not only herself but also the woman that is after her.

Zoe is after vampires that attacked her home a few days prior that are connected to the fall of Covenant College and the group that Scout destroyed. However to their surprise shifters are involved as well. Zoe is taking no prisoners and as usual she is awesome and sarcastic as ever! I really miss Zoe's books but am so glad that we are fortunate enough to continue seeing her in crossovers. We get to see her again as she travels to Detroit in the Death Gate series.

Scout has a lot coming at her and things are going to be getting bigger I think over the course of the next few books. Scout still has to learn how to master her powers and learn more about herself. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to learning more about Scout.

What an amazing book!!!

This is a crossover with Scout from the Spells Angels and Zoe from the Convenent College series.
When an elderly gentleman comes to see Scout claiming to have known her when she was young, it opens up a can of worms and Scout is filled with questions.
A vampire and a young girl gets ambushed near Scouts house. She tries to lend a hand. When the parents of the young girl arrives , she discovers it is Zoe who is known to be a powerful mage with a badass reputation.
Zoe and Scout join forces to battle the forces of evil when Raphael, the vampire is kidnapped.
Alot happens in this book. Scout learns a little about herself.
A revelation at the end of this book sends shockwaves through Scout. How will Scout deal with this?
Sami is fantastic and such a snarky teenage girl. her witty remarks are hilarious.
Zoe and Scout developed a really good friendship in this book. I really hope we get another crossover with Zoe and Scout.
Best crossover book I've read so far. Loved it

Drake brings someone to help Scout find out about her past and the Winters make a visit as vampires are after them. I would like to give this book 4 stars but the plot inconsistencies bring it down to 3.

What I enjoyed:
* Gunnar finally shifted, only took 4 books
* I like the Winters, but boy is Sammi a handful
* We finally find out something from Scout's past

What could be better:
* Still don't understand the point of the rest of the Spell's Angels, when they were going into battle Rooster is like, we'll take swords and fight that way - aren't they all supposed to be paranormal???
* plot inconsistencies - just last book Scout was explaining born vs made vampires to Gunnar and then she is all surprised when Zoe says Raphael is more powerful because he is a born vampire and explains the difference to them. Also Scout healed Raisin in a previous book when her dad beat her, and this time she was wishing for Zoe's healing magic

disappointed

I generally like Amanda Lee. I’ve read many, many of her books, but this series is aggravating. First, she is inconsistent with details. In a prior book she has no toys and her shifter buys her a toy wolf. Then later she talks about her toys as a child. Raisin is being raised by her grandma, but suddenly it’s her grandpa. Etc.

Also, she goes on autopilot with the spoiled brat routine. Over and over. I skipped whole sections as the kid acted like a hormonal siren. Please. We don’t need to hear it ad infinitum.

Finally, I’m good with characters having poor grammar. But the narration needs to use correct pronouns. A writer using bad grammar is like a math teacher who can’t count.

I’m also tired of the arc about who she is. How long can you drag that nugget out without solving it? I suppose it’s meant to draw you forward to read more, but it’s just annoying. For the first time in reading her books I think I’ll just skip the rest in this series. Why? Because it’s tedious, and I just don’t care any more.

Good series, just has a few inconsistencies that annoy.

I don't normally write reviews, but the inconsistencies in these books drive me nuts, so I'm hoping they can be fixed. I like the series so far, however, as with every series of Amanda M. Lee, there are inconsistencies that drive me nuts! In this book the author has Scout not knowing that there are born vampires, and created vampires, however, in the previous book she new there was a difference because she had a conversation with the master vampire in which she told him she new he was a born vampire. So why make it like she doesn't know that in this book? Also, in this book it's saying she doesn't know how to heal and yet in a previous book she healed Raisin when her father almost killed her...see, annoying inconsistencies. It does this kind of stuff in her other series too. It's really quite off putting, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I was going to only give it 3, but thought maybe that was too harsh. Hopefully these issues can be fixed going forward.

Another great installment!

I love Amanda Lee and this book didn’t disappoint! It was fun to “see” the Winters’ family again. In this book Scout’s background really starts to unfold. There’s a lot of action and definitely some surprises. I loved finding out about Scout! I only had two complaints. One, Sami is a SUPER unpleasant character—like book killing unpleasant. We can only use her adolescence as an excuse for so long. Every book she’s in becomes about her and her angst. Unfortunately, that’s not what I wanted to see in this book. I wanted to know about Scout, but Sami hijacked every scene. Second, every time Sami acted out (which was a lot), Aric or Zoe argued about from whom she inherited whatever bad habit she exhibited. Every. Single. Time. It was tedious and annoying.

Sami aside, this was a fun and interesting book and I can’t wait to find out more about Scout’s childhood.

Plot inconsistencies ruin the book.
I get frustrated enough with grammatical and spelling errors in many modern books. It frustrates me even more when the author forgets a character name and I have to go back and double check. This book is worse because the author has forgotten everything that she’s written about the main characters and changed major plot points. In book 1, she heals a badly injured Raisin, who then goes to live with her grandmother Irene. In this book, she wishes she could heal people and Raisin suddenly lives with a grandfather. The Archimage is mentioned as a book that Zoe is rumored to have, and yet Scout can’t remember where she’s heard it before. She also claims a local witch helped her with moving between planes, and yet she was the one with that idea initially. I haven’t read any of the other series, so I don’t know who Zoe and Aric are, but I honestly don’t think I will if the author treats those series the same way.

Desperately waiting for the next!!

A delicious cross over with Zoe, Aric and Sami Lake-Winters.

The problem with letting a witch go free after she's been held captive by vampires for ten years is that it might have warped her mind.. Emma comes back and Scout can't be certain that Emma is on the right path.

With female shifters going missing Graham asks for Scouts help after a distant family member of Gunner's vanishes too. But while it looks like they've been kidnapped the truth is a long way off and they have joined forces with an enemy.

Zoe, Aric and Sami along with Raphael are on the hunt for the group and one way or another Zoe is going to take down anyone and everyone who threatens Sami.. Forming an alliance when Sami goes missing the extended team are back on a case and nothing will stop them from annihilating the leader.. or will it?!

I am reading this series, like I eat gummy bears. One right after another. I've read at least 5 of her series.

That being said, Ms Lee needs much better proofreaders. Not only are typos missed, but backstory details get changed from 1 book to the next. In book 1 she has to get a GED to qualify to join Spell's Angels, in following installments she graduated high school, prior to getting out of state care. Book 2 she heals Raisin, but then in book 4 she marvels that the mages can heal people. She also frequently refers to her zodiac sign, if her age was in question at the time she was abandoned, how could she possibly know her birthdate?

What's the deal with 2 main characters, in different series, being abandoned at fire stations when they were 5? Need to mix it up a bit, personally, I had days I fantasized about walking away when mine were whiny 3 year olds. Just saying....

I really like the Spells Angels, Scout and Gunner. This is why I read this book. Then I realized that the Winters (from the Covenant College series) and their annoying daughter Sami were in this. Ugh. I hate Sami. She is obnoxious, self centered and she makes me so angry at her parents. The Winters take over any crossover they are in. I was so annoyed when they showed up in Moonstone Bay. In my opinion Sami made the climax and ending of this book worse.
There are becoming some big inconsistencies in this series as well. Like Scout knowing about born vampires in one book and then the next book after she states she knows nothing about born vampires. Her healing abilities are another too. There are a few but I’m not going to list them all. I know Amanda M Lee writes several books at the same time so I think that is why this is happening. All together not my favorite book.

Family?

I truly loved this story. I like everything Amanda M Lee writes. Her stories have enough snark and friendship to make you want to be included. This book sees Aric, Zoe, and Sami Winters (Coventry College series) in Scout's neck of the woods and all hell breaks loose with more vampires and missing female shifters. Emma is back but causing trouble instead being helpful she is causing the problems.
On top of all of this a man is brought to Scout, who maybe able to tell her more about herself. In the end it all comes down to family, the one we are born into and the one we make for ourselves.
This book had some of the answers Scout had been looking for but she is still struggling with all she can do and who she is.
Cannot wait to read more.

Extraordinarily amazing supernatural urban fantasy series.

An extraordinarily action packed urban fantasy series. A small town that sits upon a supernatural nexus. A group of warriors called spells angels are there to keep the supernatural evil at bay. Scout and her companions with the spells angels fight against evil supernatural creatures and beings. In this particular storyline we have a crossover event between the spells angels and characters from our authors covenant college series of books. Zoe lake and her husband Eric and her daughter Sammy and their vampire friend Rafael. Two battles intersect in the small town and they join forces to eradicate the problem. Read on and find out what happens. Entertaining action packed and hard to put down until you are finished.

The mystery deepens.

Ooh, a crossover. We get to see Zoe and Aric (before Zoe meets Izzy) as they follow Sami and Rafael to town. Vampires and shifters are once again causing trouble and the Winters join forces with Scout and the Spells Angels to get to the bottom of this new mystery.

We find out a heck of a lot more about Scout’s past/family, which was interesting. Yet as much as I enjoyed the book, and the absence of Raisin for the most part, I had to put up with Sami who is way worse. It’s funny, I was fine with Zoe’s snark throughout the Covenant series, but I can’t stand Sami 🤷🏻‍♀️. Anyhoo, I’m going to continue on to book 5. Finger’s crossed I’ll like it.

Shifter Women Are Disappearing and Vampires Are Back

Scout and Gunner are back with the whole gang and more, this time there seems to be shifter women from Gunners old pack disappearing and it seems that some leftover vampires might be to blame. Also Scout and Gunner make some new friends with very interesting magic of their own, and with this going on someone is trying to kidnap the new friend’s daughter. Sounds like everyone’s got their hand full doesn’t it, well if you want to find out how it all comes together and the answer to the disappearances, all I can say is what I always seem to be telling you all, buy yourself a copy of this wonderful book and read it to get all the answers you could possibly need, I promise, you won’t be disappointed;)

A Good Read

We’re being fed Scout’s story in dribs and drabs, but it’s coming out. This is a little frustrating for me, as I am the type of person who reads the last chapter in a book first so I will know if I'm going like the ending. This book is an entertaining read. This one has Aric, Zoe and their daughter in it as well. I have to say I’ve never actually met a teenager who behaved as badly as Sami Winters! Since the family is slated to appear in the Death Gate series and previously showed up in the Charlie Rhoades books it looks as if they are making the rounds. Hoping to see them get involved with the Winchesters and the Mystic Circus gang as well.
