Two days after my boyfriend dumps me, my business goes belly up, and the sperm bank declines my credit card, a gorgeous rock star offers to whisk me away for two weeks of hot, steamy, all-expenses paid…therapy.
I should say no. I’m not looking for a fling.
I want a man who’ll be a father to the baby I’m desperate to conceive. Or, at the very least, a guy willing to knock me up before we go our separate ways.
Zack isn’t that guy. He’s my best friend’s oldest pal, and in my social circle for the long haul. I could never ask him a favor like this.

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙❤️💚💜 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌏 Character development: 😊😘😟 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: DualNarration
The Hero:Zach - he has been in a top rock band for years and just decided to quit the band and try for a solo career. He grew up with his grandparents, whom he still lives with when he isn’t on tour. His mother was an addict, and he never knew his father. He is in a local bar in his hometown when he hears a voice he knows, it is the dodgy boyfriend of a woman he has known for a while through a mutual friend. A woman he has always been very attracted to. Zach hears the guy saying some demeaning things about her and he doesn’t like it.
The heroine:Colette - her ex-boyfriend Fernando just dumped her because they were at different places in their lives. She was desperate to have a baby, he wanted to get married, but she didn’t think getting married was necessary to have a baby. She had been telling him for a while that she was going to have a baby with or without him and he wasn’t listening, so after going to the sperm bank to get inseminated, he blew up and dumped her.
The Story: Zach goes to see Colette after leaving the bar. He tells himself he just wants to see if she is ok, not because she is finally single and so is he. Colette isn’t doing well, she is crying and eating ice cream. She is depressed from not only being dumped, but also because her trip to the sperm bank ended without positive results and she lost her job. So now she has no boyfriend, and no way to pay for more sperm or in vitro. Though Zach cheers her up when he invites her to his vacation retreat where he plans on writing songs for his solo album.
The attraction between these two flares up right away and they end up making the decision to have a baby together. I kind of like this premise, since it isn’t about a surprise pregnancy but a planned one even though they are technically not dating each other, though their chemistry is undeniable. I liked both Zack and Colette as characters and the romance was terrific.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Lili Valente (also the author), and Sebastian York. Sebastian is one of my favorites, he has a deep, gravelly voice and is great at voice acting (rather than just reading or narrating). I was surprised at how much I like Lili Valente’s voice. It is youthful and feminine and very pleasing, and she also is really good at voice acting.
I loved writing Zack and Colette's red hot, baby-making romance. I hope you'll love reading it just as much! If you'd like to be a part of the blog tour and receive an Advanced Reader Copy, click here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA...
Colette was having a bad, terrible, awful day but when Zack came in to save the day, no one knew they would be each other’s best of champions…
I wasn’t sure what to make of Colette’s situation. Or how quickly Zack jumped on the baby band wagon. Their leap from sort of friends to devoted lovers was quick – oh, so satisfying quick! – but their pace worked beautifully for them and it showed in every conversation, shared laugh and intimate moment. Oh yes this story was scorching hot, full of all the emotion I craved and provided a depth that caught me blissfully unaware. A rom-com for sure, it was impossible not to smile and laugh with them, and flinch when things took a turn. It was real life and it was all there to feel and savour…
Colette and Zack’s journey was filled with tenderness, uncertainty and an unshakeable belief in each other. Ahh, my heart is still fluttering…
All the stars but I will have to settle for five… ~Diane, 5+ stars
This was alright. I liked it well enough when I was listening to it and the narrators were really good. But I literally just finished it and don't know if I remember much about it, it wasn't super memorable. It moved really fast which I'm not always opposed to but just didn't work super well here. I also felt some things were kinda left unresolved I don't know. Anyway it wasn't bad but wasn't super good either.
Book 4 in the Bangover series and it can be read as a standalone. Zack and Collette were so good together. Loved everything about them. Collette is going through some things so when Zack offers to take her on an all-expenses paid trip to relax and have some fun, she jumps on the chance. When Zack finds out that she really wants to have a baby before she can’t due to medical issues, he offers to be the daddy. Great story, great characters and so hot. Another great story by Lili and I can’t wait to read more. I know that each time I pick up one of her stories, I will have a smile when I am finished. Highly recommend this story.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
When Zack hears his oldest friend's friend is suffering from a devastating breakup, he has to check on her. When he finds she's hurting from not just a breakup, he asks her along on his retreat. Sounds great on paper, but Colette isn't exactly in the right frame of mind for a fling with a gorgeous rockstar. Or is she? She does need a favor from Zack, though, and it's one that can involve a lot of fun, a lot of pleasure, and perhaps more even if the two weren't intending on the feelings that pop up between them.
I can always count on Lili Valente for fun, witty dialogue, loveable, quirky, sweet leads, and smokin' hot chemistry. Colette and Zack have all these things in spades. I absolutely fell in love with these two as they were falling in love with each other. The Bangover series is one of my favorite rom com series, and this story is the reason why.
I absolutely adore Zack and Colette!! What an incredibly sweet, fun and sexy story about this incredible couple. They are so good together. I mean truly perfect complements to each other. I love how hard he falls for her! Swoon!!
They strike quite the bargain but of course it turns into so much more than they bargained for. In a good way of course!
That Chip though, wanted to throat punch him! Putting that fear into Colette and almost messing everything up.
I read but then also listened to the audio of this very enjoyable book and let me say that Sebastian York and Lili Valente are fantastic as Zack and Colette. I love having awesome narrators bring the characters and story to life for me!!
Zack says something that I absolutely love and will always remember-“No need to borrow trouble from tomorrow when today is so good.” Definitely words to live by!!
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
There is a reason that this author is very high on my to read pile, that is because she keeps on giving us books like these. Funny, sexy, laugh out loud, emotional at times and with little bits of life lessons and teaching thrown in that resonate.
This was another brilliant book that kept me captivated and wanting to carry on reading, even when i knew i had to put it down for work.
Collette is a strong woman who knows what she wants most in life after a pretty rotten childhood, after losing her boyfriend and job however, her plans seem to take a nosedive until her best friends other friend Zack comes into play.
Zack has just left his band Lips on Fire for a solo career and is about to go on a two week retreat to write some music when her hears Collettes ex-boyfriend talking bad about her in a bar. He takes it upon himself to go over and make sure she is ok, where he then invites her to join him on the retreat. It is in the car on the drive to the retreat that she, after Theo's reassurance, asks if he would help her have a baby.
Both are kind people able to read emotions well and know what they want, however after a visit from Zacks not so nice manager, Collette runs and Zack ends up going for want he wants and Chip gets what he deserves. Karma.
Really looking forward to what this author has in the works next.
The Rock Star’s Baby Bargain is Lili Valente’s most recent hilarious and sexy rom-com. If you read her Bangover Series then you were lucky enough to already meet Zack and Colette as Theo’s best friends. They are both her best friends but they are not each other’s. They have noticed the other in passing but Colette has been in a long term relationship and Zack is always in the road with his band, Lips on Fire. But now...
It all started with a break-up. Colette with her asshole ex and Zack with his band. They are both going on their own. Zack just wanted to check on Colette before he went out of town. What he ended up doing was inviting her on his two-week writing retreat in the woods. In a haunted mansion! It was unexpected and a perfect time for Colette to get away after losing her job and ending a relationship. And time to think about what happens next. Her dream is to have a baby. Soon. She might sound crazy along with Theo but maybe, just maybe Zack would be up for the job. He is sweet, sexy, and has a job on the road. She doesn’t need a baby daddy, she just needs him swimmers. But, there is no way he would say yes. Except he doesn’t immediately say no...
Zack doesn’t know what has gotten into him. First, he quits his band to go solo and now he is planning on knocking up his best friend’s best friend in a haunted mansion. He might just be going crazy. Except it feels all kinds of right. His new muse has turned out to be Colette and he can’t wait to make new music on his own terms. He also can’t wait to have Colette in his bed and in his arms. But what happens after the fun baby making? Will he be able to just walk away, co-parent or want to live the dream with a party of three?
Aw!! This story is so sweet, sexy, and fun! I have been falling for Zack and Colette over the Bangover series so having them together is amazing!! So happy her douchebag ex is out of the picture. And happy that Zack is going to be in the spotlight instead of behind it. He deserves it. Together, they are magic.
P.S. I want to go to the haunted mansion!
Quotes:
“How did we do it? Before?” “Do what?” I murmur. “Ignore the chemistry.” “You were with someone, and I don’t like dwelling on things I can’t have. I like dreams that have at least a shot at coming true.”
“I like you filthy.”
“A winner must be declared. We’ll settle this in the way of my people. Co-ed naked shower wrestling to the death. It’s the only way.”
This funny lady is one whose work I’ve come to love and trust. Time and again she delivers flawless writing, eternally endearing characters, a nice dose of steam, and the perfect seasoning of humor and heart sprinkled throughout.
Colette Blanchette is down in the dumps. She's just broken up with her long-time boyfriend, and she can’t even cry on her best friend's shoulder because Theo is on her honeymoon. When their mutual friend, Zach, finds out about the breakup, he, of course, has to check on Colette.
When Colette answers the door with red puffy eyes, a mostly empty jar of marshmallow fluff, and used tissues scattered around, he knows he needs to do something. He's had a thing for Colette for a long time, and he can’t stand to see her in pain.
Zack has just left his band to go out on his own. He has two weeks booked at a place in the country to record new songs, and if he can convince Colette to go with him, maybe that will cheer her up. Sounds like a great plan, but then Colette tells Zack about her plan to have a baby and wants to enlist his help.
There's so much to love about this book! Fantastic main characters who I wanted to be friends with not withstanding, there are tons of laughs, lots of steam, and poignant heart to take you through the full spectrum of emotions. As if that isn’t enough, we get ghosts, quirky and loveable caretakers and a bad guy you'll love to see get what he deserves.
There’s also a underlying tone that was really encouraging to me. This indie publisher touches on the uncertainty of our world today in a way that is beautiful, uplifting and inspiring, without being preachy, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. It makes me love her heart even more and know, without a doubt, that I can fully trust her with mine.
I’ve enjoyed this series, but I just couldn’t get enough of Zack and Colette! Witty and funny with a workout for your heart, you won’t want to miss this feel-good, fantastic read!
Perfection! I feel like this book came along at the perfect time! I needed something lighthearted with a good solid love story but without any of the drama, cheating or angst and this book more than delivered. Zach is a great character that we have seen make an appearance in a couple of other books but it was great to really get to know him and watch him fall in love. I would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a romcom love story.
I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this book. While I enjoyed the other books in the Bangover Series, this is by far my favorite one. I was a goner for Zack from the minute he defended Collette. I mean, Collette wasn't even "there" (present) and would have never known her ex was bashing her, but Zack wasn't going to allow her to be disrespected. Then, he goes and checks on her. He was so damn tender and sweet and caring and sexy......and....more sexy. I was far gone by that point and I wasn't even about a third into this story. Zack is so perfect. Despite his fame and popularity he hasn't forgotten where he came from. He is loyal, honest and caring; an all around great guy (of course he is fucking HOT too). Collette is funny and quirky with a great personality. The two were so perfect for each other. Their chemistry was on fire. Not only was their physical attraction obvious, but they had a strong emotional connection. I truly enjoyed watching how the friendship/relationship between Collette and Zack developed throughout the story.
The Rock Star's Baby Bargain was a fantastic, sexy read. It had some very hot scenes between the main characters (very hot scenes). Lili Valente is one of my favorite authors. She writes such amazing stories with fun characters that will have you laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next. I know this book is going to be one of my favorite ones to re-read.
I love this series, and Zack and Colette have such a wonderful story.
After leaving Lips on Fire, one of the most successful rock bands in the world for several years, Zack is ready to launch his solo career. Losing the woman he’s carried a torch for many years to marry his douche ex-band mate—Cutter’s not really a douche—Zack is leaving Hidden Kill Bay to spend a couple weeks far from civilization, so he can get some songs written for his upcoming release.
Colette, in the dumps over her breakup with Fernando, just wants to have a baby. Fernando wasn’t in as much a hurry as Colette with the baby plans.
Not wanting to see his friend in such a sad state, Zack invites Colette to join him on his retreat. Colette and Zach talk about everything and anything on the way, and there seems to be some sort of attraction going on between them. When Zack hears about Colette’s desire to have a baby soon, he offers to help her with the baby making—the fun way. There are some seriously hot scenes with these two, and I swooned at the fact that they both love so hard, and kinda quick.
I loved discovering what a sweetie Zack is, and how caring a fun Colette is. There’s a little catchup with a few of the Hidden Kill Bay crew. Great narration by Lili and Sebastian. I’ve already listened to it twice.
Ever since Lilil Valente collaborated with Lauren Blakely, I’ve been wanting to read more of her works. Needless to say, The Rock Star’s Baby Bargain did not disappoint, this friends-to-lovers second chance romance will have you swooning and rooting for the characters until the very end.
At the beginning of the story we get to meet, Zack Halloran, a musician who as of recently quit being part of the famous band, Lips on Fire. He hopes to start a solo career, but for the first time in over a decade of being part of a touring band, he doesn’t know when he’ll be on the road again. Although Zack is not ready to start anything serious, he can’t help being drawn to Colette, his best friend’s friend. She is enchanting, smart and now ready to have a baby. He should have stayed away from her and focus on his career. But that’s not what happens the minute they start to get close, and the more time they spend together. The more he wants to make he his forever. Colette Blanchett has been through so much, not only has she been through a breakup but also she is jobless as well. To top it all, she has no money to be able to afford in vitro fertilization anymore. Her dream of being a mom is slowly disappearing right before her eyes. Then Zack shows up and it’s like the universe is giving her a second chance and she is willing to take it hoping that she doesn’t fall for him in the process. Yet, it would take a turn of events to make her see that Zack might just be meant for her in the end.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Zack and Colette, although we see them interact with others characters, the story mainly focuses on them the entire time. We get to see them make the choice of having a baby together, then get to know each other and their pasts. They have a lot in common which pulls them to each other that much more. Zack is really sweet and protective. He truly cares about Colette and will do anything to make her happy. On the other hand, Colette has been through a lot, but she is still strong enough to take care of a child by herself. It’s when things start to get intense that feelings start to develop and they will have to decide if pursing a relationship with each other is what they really want. All in all, the story had me hooked and the ending was really sweet, it fit with the overall story really well. I would definitely recommend checking out this story and I cannot wait to read more from the author in the future. :)
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
When it comes to rom-com, you can never go wrong with Lili Valente! The Rock Star's Baby Bargain is the latest in the Bangover series, and it is such a funny, flirty, fiery addition to the series. Thoroughly satisfying.
We already know Zach and Colette from the prior books in the series. They're Theo's best friends, but not each others's best friends. Zach's on the road with Theo, while Colette is his hometown bestie, so they don't have a strong connection even though they are connected for the long haul.
Now, however, the band is breaking-up. Zach finds himself at lose ends. And Colette has just had a rough break-up of her own, with her boyfriend, and she lost her job. She's ready to be a mom, but doesn't have the means to make it happen. Zach, in a effort to help Colette recover from her breakup, invites her along on his writing retreat...in a haunted mansion in the woods.
Colette is looking for a baby daddy. Not to necessary be there to raise the baby, but to donate his swimmers. It's crazy to ask Zack, right? Except he may just be the kind of crazy that Colette needs.
But in Zack's mind, while it seems crazy, it also seems right, and he's found something in Colette that he didn't think we was missing. He was looking for a new music career, but what he wound up with was something so much sweeter.
This is another steamy, sweet and sassy romance from Lili Valente. Their chemistry is off the charts, and you really get to know the characters. It's always a treat to read a well-written, witty, enchanting romcom.
The Rock Star's Baby Bargain is a standalone in the Bangover series by the talented and hilarious Lili Valente. I don't know how she does it, but Lili continues to deliver the laughs, sexiness, fun and love again and again. This is Zack's story! I feel like I've been waiting a long time to see Zack fall and it was everything I wanted it to be. Zack is sweet, kind, sexy and talented. Colette is friend of a friend, so not a stranger. They've known each other for a while, but there was never any chemistry or a strong connection until they both find themselves single and then it's game on. Colette desperately wants a baby and her clock is ticking. She never once thought Zack would be interested in helping her out, but he is. He really, really is. He needs to work on his solo album anyway, so he invites Colette to spend a few weeks with him. He can write, record and be with a sexy, lovable woman. Is it possible to fall for someone in only a few days? Yes, yes it is! I loved how Zack and Colette just knew. They knew they were meant to be together. There are a few obstacles, but they know what they have to do. I loved that it was just fun, sexy and low angst. The perfect thing I needed in my life! Overall, I love Zack and Colette and how sweet and dirty they are!
Audio: And for your aural pleasure, Lili herself narrates with the always fantastic Sebastian York. They were fantastic together. Lili's voice is perfect for Colette and Sebastian's voice always gives me tingles!
Zack is dealing with his world flipping 180 due to his own actions. Enter Colette a crush from his past can now be his. What is better then taking his muse with him to make music and sexy times for two weeks. I liked the banter between the couple and those around them. I felt Colette's baby fever was never fully expanded upon and was just hurried mentions. Other then that loved the book and the Bangover series.
Zack is the ideal book boyfriend - caring, sweet, and sexy. Colette says it best:
"We're barely one day into our adventure, and already he feels like someone I can trust, a port in the storm, a good luck charm that wards off ghosts and all the other things that do their best to haunt a person."
The Rock Star's Baby Bargain is Book 4 in the Bangover series - however, it can definitely be read as a standalone. This is Zack and Colette's story. Zack is branching out from the band and trying to launch his solo career - he wants his songs to be heard as his own. Colette wants to have a baby before she has to have a hysterectomy due to issues she's been having for a few years. Zack wants a family but knows it will be difficult to find someone he knows and trusts to have a kid with his rock star status. He's been around Colette (through their mutual friend Theo - the heroine in book 3 - Banging the Enemy) and attracted to her but she was always in a relationship. Now that she's single, he has her go on a trip upstate with him while he is recording. He's been a little more impulsive lately and they decide to try and have a baby together.
This is another great story by Lili Valente. If you like sweet main characters, a potentially haunted house, romance, and sexy scenes, you will love this book!
I have to end with my favorite quote from the book - as it is extremely true and inspiring.
"Children are hope. And that seems like exactly what the world needs right now. Lots of hope. Lots of compassion. Lots of people trying to love each other the best they can, even when they disagree."
I have read all the other books in this series, and they aren't necessary in order to read this book, but SO worth it! ;)
There is chemistry in all the books, but this one is insta-chemistry, and it's kind of nice to get right to the "fun" times.
I really enjoyed getting both characters' back stories as the book went on. They are great characters and their story is fantastic. Zach isn't your typical rock star. And, as Theodora's best friend, he's as awesome as you'd expect him to be. Considerate, dominant, super sweet. Colette is at a turning point in her life, and is working hard to go get her dreams.
The house where they're staying is fantastic, and I love that aspect added into the story - you'll have to read about this cool rental!!
If you love HEAT with heart and a good story, including some twists and suspense, this is for you!!!
Also, I highly recommend listening to this audiobook! I will ALWAYS listen to any novels narrated by Lili Valente. I love her voice, and she does a GREAT job on the male voices, as well. And we all love SebYo. He does awesome, as always.
The Rock Star's Baby Bargain was the most fun book I have read in a long time! Fun, flirty, and fabulous!! I needed this book! Especially now. I snort laughed and it was the first time in a long time that I did that!
Zack is our rockstar and Colette is my favorite leading lady. Her life has completely hit rock bottom. She knows one thing for sure, she is ready to move on with the next stage of her life. When Zack invites Colette to a little get away, I knew this was what they both needed. There was so many laughs and so many heart stopping moments I was gitty through it all!
Then it happens. Zack steals the show with his words and I am a goner. I have been enslaved to the rest of this book and my world tilts. Colette and Zack needed their moment and I loved how Lili gave it to them!
Holy moley! What a freaking sweet journey this book was. Zack and Collette were meant for each other. Both complementing the other perfectly. It’s starts with a crazy baby making bargain and ends in one of the happiest HEA’s I’ve read in a long time. This couple gives me butterflies.
I adored each characters strengths. Zack is the perfect supportive SO. He really cares for Collette and adores her. Colette didn’t have a great upbringing and it has made her stronger. I love that she knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to take it or ask for it.
This was such a sweet story and I enjoyed every minute of it. This was my first Lili Valente and definitely wont be my last!
*I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are entirely my own*
A handful of pages in, I knew that I was going to fall in love with this book. Not just because I’m familiar with and adore Lili Valente’s previous work. But because of this quote...” Colette is the kind of woman you swear fealty to, like the knights in the Middle Ages. She’s the kind of woman you thank whatever god you pray to for each night.” Yup, I full on swooned! If I can fall in love with Zack before the end of the first chapter, Colette has zero chance of leaving this temporary baby-making relationship with her heart unscathed. These two characters are everything...funny, honest, loving with no interpersonal drama. And so very steamy. The lack of snark and bad feelings was a pleasure to read, as so many times that bad boy rocker has an edge to him that I don’t always find appealing. Soft edges doesn’t have to mean wimpy or boring. I loved everything about this book and these characters, who will stay with me long after I’m off reading my next romance. Fantastic read!
4.5 Stars Another winner by Lili Valente. I couldn't put this one down and a book hangover was the result. I loved the humor in this book. Right now everyone could do with a little more laughter in their life. My favorite part of this book is the banter between Zack and Colette. It's what made me gobble up the pages of the book. The caretakers of the music retreat house were another great part of the book. I loved Colette's wild imagination especially with the ghosts. I loved watching these two go from a bargain to true feelings. They may be different, but they fit together like puzzle pieces. The epilogue was the absolute perfect touch. It made this reader one very happy customer. I would highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed!
I adored Zack and Colette! These two didn't have any unnecessary drama going on, although there was a smattering of angst in the story, and you know I have a thing for angst (not to be confused with drama-rama). It was as if Fate finally said, "Well, here's your chance! Get to know each other and get it on already!" They were at a point in each other's lives were they were welcoming change, but neither realized the roles they would play in the shift in trajectory. Their coming together felt natural. There was nothing forced about them, and while getting to their happily-ever-after was certainly not without its challenges, I never doubted their connection. While this is more a companion novel, saying goodbye to the world that began with The Bangover and ends with The Rock Star's Baby Bargain is bittersweet. I'm going to miss these couples but excited for whatever's next. Five-plus stars. ♥
Colette wants to have a baby, but she loses her job, her boyfriend doesn’t want to have one with her, and she doesn’t have enough money for another try at the sperm bank. When her ex bad-mouths her and Zack overhears, he goes to Colette’s to cheer her up. They end up going on a retreat for two weeks while Zack writes solo songs. And they make a baby bargain. Zack is going to try to get Colette pregnant. Along the way, they fall in love. Then reality hits in the form of Zack’s despicable manager. *** This was a sweet but sexy story. Zack was a nice guy and Colette was a sweetheart. Chip’s actions were deplorable. He was a real villain.
As always, Lili Valente brought us a bright, happy, and fun to read story. Zack and Colette are such great characters. Colette is at a standstill as far as her career goes, and doesn’t know where to take it next. But she does know one thing. She wants a baby. Who better to do the deed than a gorgeous, soulful and kind rock star? Zack’s more than happy to oblige. These two were super sweet and perfect complements to one another. For Zack, it started out as just helping a friend, but he fell hard and fast. Colette was swooning over Zack too. It was a match made in heaven. She becomes his muse and in turn she gets her mojo back. Together they create much more than a brand new life. I absolutely adored this story. It’s fun and light-hearted but with enough of a punch to give it some weight.
