Betwixt Volume 2 is the second anthology from the Beechwood Harbor world. The stories, shared from different characters’ POVs, range in time from near the start of the original series to books released within the past year. Overall, I enjoyed the stories which add background and depth to the existing characters and world. My biggest complaint is that I would have liked some context for each story, letting listeners know when the story takes place within the larger world.
“Cupid in a Bottle” Shared by Anastasia Winters, it tells the story of how her sister, Harmony, comes to live with her in the Seattle Haven. It takes place before the start of the Touch of Magic Mysteries series. When one of her clients gets cold feet the day before her wedding, Ana has to figure out what happened and fix it quick. It’s a cute story and is followed by a preview of Newly Wed and Slightly Dead, first book in the series.
“Tide Dance” Told from Holly’s POV, the story features a teen who has lost something important and can’t get home until she finds it. The story doesn’t add much to the overall series, but gives listeners a little “day in the life” for Holly and her friends.
“Graveyard Gala” Another tale told from Holly’s POV. It’s Halloween and Ghost Gwen invites Holly and the gang to an annual event for ghosts, but when something happens to all the ghosts in attendance, they call in Scarlet to help. Again, a fun slice-of-life short from Holly’s world.
“Dead Men Tell No Tales... but Dead Women Do” This is a more recent story, chronologically, told from Harmony’s POV. It’s been nine months since Holly’s store opened. Harmony goes on a delivery where she overhears a murder confession and gets her memories erased. The gang works together to help Harmony and solve the case. I liked seeing Harmony front and center as she becomes a bigger part of the gang.
“Hex the Halls” It’s just after Thanksgiving and the Christmas season is upon Beechwood Harbor. As the gang helps prepare for the annual holiday festival and Santa’s arrival, rabid Christmas gnomes cause mischief. Holly and friends need to save the day to save Christmas.
**NOTE: this is the first part of “A Very Beechwood Christmas,” which was absent from that novella. It would have been SO MUCH BETTER to get this story with that book. I’m very disappointed that 1) it wasn’t included with it and 2) that “A Very Beechwood Christmas” is included in whole in this anthology. Why release both?
“A Match Made in Hades” This tale takes listeners way back to when Lacey still lived at the Beechwood Manor and before her own HEA book, Once Upon a Hallow's Eve. Lacey shares what her dating life was like while living at the Manor. While I enjoy the story, having it as the final story in the anthology seems wrong since it is chronologically the oldest.
Narration: As always, the Beechwood Harbor gang is brought to life through the performance of Amanda Ronconi, who has consistently done a wonderful job. Her voices are all well-suited, and she gives paranormals their own fitting voices. She brings her own delightful charm to the Beechwood gang, keeping in tone with the lightness of the stories. I notice that as the cast gets larger, some of the characters start sounding similar. Yet, it is all fitting for the world.
My Ratings: Story: B Narration: B

I'm going to review each of the short stories contained within this separately, but overall I really enjoyed this! I love that most the stories toward the end were Christmas, since I was reading in December it really felt appropriate!
There was a Preview of Newly Wed and Slightly Dead and that book is now on my wish list!
I can't find these ones on Goodreads, so they must be exclusive to the collection:
A Graveyard Gala (3.5 stars): This is one where I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the companion series to Beechwood Harbor Magic, since the ghosts are more prominent and I think I would know them better if I'd read that series. That being said Holly is still the main character, along with Adam and the Manor residents. I enjoyed this story and would give it 4 stars. For a short, it's pretty complete!
Dead Men Tell No Tales... But Dead Women Do! (4 stars): I think this was my 2nd favorite from this collection. I enjoy getting to know Harmony better for one, but also it was the perfect blend of humor and worry. Harmony shares her boss Holly's talent for getting into trouble, that's for sure! The conclusion was pretty swift, but I guess that's to be expected in a short.
Hex the Halls (4 stars): This story is where the Christmas fun begins - with a crazed gnome and the discovery that Santa is coming to town (because as the paranormal world knows, Santa IS real). Although the story works great as a quick, stand alone Christmas short the follow up "A Very Beechwood Christmas" (my favorite of the collection) is a continuation and rounds it out really well.
A Match Made in Hades (2.5 stars): Even though I really like Lacey Vaughn and it was fun to see a bit of her from before, this story was just okay for me. It can be summed up with Stacey has a blind date, doesn't like the guy (unfairly IMO), Adam saves her, the end. Obviously more happens and there is some humor, but yeah, it was a bit lacking for me.
Amanda Ronconi continues to earn her place as one of my favorite narrators - the narration only enhanced the stories.
overall rating ★★★★½ audio narrated by Amanda Ronconi
1. Cupid in a Bottle ★★★ 2. Tide Dance ★★★½ 3. A Graveyard Gala ★★★★ 4. Dead Men Tell No Tales ... But Dead Women Do! ★★★★★ 5. Hex the Halls ★★★★★ 6. A Very Beechwood Christmas ★★★★★ 7. A Match Made in Hades ★★★★½
My favorite novellas in this collection were the Christmas ones!
The stories slip neatly between moments we have already experienced, filling in gaps and adding texture without ever feeling unnecessary. Each short piece brings a small mystery, a magical hiccup, or an emotional beat that deepens the overall world. Some twists are gentle rather than shocking, but that works perfectly here, because the goal is comfort and charm rather than edge of your seat suspense.
The characters remain the real highlight. Familiar faces return with their quirks intact, and it was such a pleasure spending more time with them in smaller, more intimate moments. Scarlet continues to grow in quiet but meaningful ways, and the ghosts are just as opinionated, meddlesome, and oddly endearing as ever. Flapjack, in particular, continues to steal scenes, delivering humor and attitude in equal measure. These stories made the cast feel even more like a found family, which is one of my favorite things in this genre.
The themes lean into connection, unfinished business, and finding balance between the living and the dead, all wrapped in a soft paranormal glow. The setting remains cozy and atmospheric, with just enough supernatural flair to keep things interesting without overwhelming the story. As a paranormal cozy, this works beautifully, offering magic, warmth, and small mysteries that resolve in satisfying ways.
The writing is light, engaging, and easy to sink into, making it perfect for reading in short bursts or devouring in one sitting. These stories may be short, but they add real value to the series and left me smiling more than once. It felt like spending a little extra time in a world I already love, and I would happily read many more moments like these.

This is a prequel to the Beechwood Harbor Magical Mysteries series. Obviously, I did not realize that but since I bought the audiobook, I got this Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection, also it contains - Cats, Bats and Talking Hats, Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor, Along Came a Ghost, The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas, A Witch’s Best Friend: A Beechwood Harbor Short Story, and lastly, Undercover Wolf: A Beechwood Harbor Novella. Great deal & very enjoyable! 😍
This second collection of Beechwood Harbor short stories is another quick, fun time with Holly, Scarlet, Harmony, and the rest of the crews. I especially loved the Christmas themed stories, and the way the author made the 4 stories flow seamlessly into 1 while allowing for 4 different perspectives was very enjoyable.
Lighthearted stories that are charming and entertaining, these were perfect for a weekend of enjoyable reading. Several were from authors I have read previously while a couple were new authors for me, but all were just right, particularly the holiday themed since tomorrow is November 1.
Wonderful selection of stories and an absolutely worthwhile read
Love this! Anastasia Winters, witch wedding planner is my favorite, so I loved beginning with her backstory. I loved that Harmony & Lacey each got their own story. I really enjoyed all the Christmas stories together in order. It would have benefitted overall to include an intro to each story.
This was a fun collection of cozy little short stories. I had already listened to a few before, in a different collection, so I skipped over those (since it was very recent), but I really enjoyed all the new ones!
All I wanna ask is, what the hell crawled up Flapjacks' ass and died. He is such a choose your favorite explicate here ghost. Why? And that's the only reason why I'm hesitant about reading Scarlet's series. =/
This was a fun collection of cozy little short stories. I love listening to Danielle's books. These are shorts stories that fill in blanks. She does not disappoint. Amanda Ronconi does not disappoint either she is the best with the voices.
I am glad I found these books, as I found a few gaps in some of the series where I didn’t know-of some of the character mentions. So all caught up now thanks 😬🤗
This collection of short stories for Holly & friends was so much fun. I love the little glimpses into everyones lives that is happening inbetween the books.
This one was hard to finish, it was a bit boring, I'll still read/listen the next one because this one was just short stories again and not really part of the series. The last one was about Christmas, and it was just kind of dumb lol.
