Ashes and Prophets

Rate this book
I don’t know if he’s my ally… or my enemy.

As our head of security, it’s my job to secure the weyr from all incursions - but somehow, this slip of a man got through all our defenses and into the very heart of our land.

He says he’s here to help. Sent by a god. A prophet to aid us in an impending apocalypse. And worse, he has some of our people already believing him.

I don’t trust him. His past is shrouded in mystery, and his magical abilities make this old dragon snarl in my scales. I plan to treat him like any other threat - by keeping him under lock and key.

Now if only I could hold back the lust that overwhelms me every time I look at him…

Ashes and Prophets is best read as the final book in the exciting and adventurous Dragon Magic series. This 86k word novel features one suspicious dragon, a prophet in desperate need of a knot, and the threat of danger looming around every corner. With the fate of the weyr hanging on their shoulders, will they survive…or fail?

GREAT FINALE!

This is the last book in the Dragon Magic series and it is absolutely FANTASTIC!
It is full of magic, adventure and shifters, but surprisingly it also features GODS! I couldn't believe my eyes, but it was a fabulous idea. The story is refreshing and there are some plot twists that made it even more interesting.

The story is fast paced, there is always something going on, something sexy, scary or dangerous. I liked all Dragons from the weyr, but I have to admit that Timothy is my number one right now. He was such a sweet and good guy I really wanted to see him happy.

I absolutely LOVED Basri and Tim's book. Their chemistry was incredible. The heat level of this story is very high and even though I am not into Daddy kink I really enjoyed s*x scenes here.

I feel like I need more. Lists more. I need Arthur to somehow get a happy ending. I need Timothy to get his sight back. I just need more.

This is the fourth book in the Dragon Magic Series. I would recommend reading the series in order so you can follow the overall story better.

Basri was grumpy, suspicious and had his overall attitude was no better. His responsibilities to his weyr was only thing that mattered. However, a certain Prophet makes him want more - can he resist temptation?

I’m surprised Timothy didnt smack Basri, I know I would have, repeatedly. Tim definitely had the patience of a prophet; the guy never yelled or sassed back even though Basri did his utmost best to be awkward and mean.

Timothy and Basri’s steamy moments were super intense, all consuming and hot. The daddy aspect caught me by surprise but I liked it. Basri eventually softened up and the way he affectionately cared for Tim, warmed my heart because if anyone was deserving and worthy, it was Tim.

The events towards the end had me gripping the very edge of my seat. I didn’t know whether to cry or smile and ended up doing both. Nothing is ever predictable in this series which I why I’ve enjoyed all the books.

Really enjoyed this one and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

And He Just Walked Right In...
by and1515

It was my job to provide security to the entire weyr and apparently someone didn't do there job because they had a human intruder making wild claims.
I'd say its crystal clear that his being deceitful besides I don't believe in nonsense liked that or any other so called higher powers.
Basri needed basic information to even begin his background search.
Timothy Cedric Crane with a birthday the day before Independence day.
With a last know address in Texas some ten years ago and he didn't have any form of I.D in his possession.
So someone named Eros sent you here but never told you why and I'm suppose to believe that?
You can think what ever you want all I can do is deliver the message and hope someone listens.
All I could do was pray for guidance and hope he answered me or at least point me in the right direction.
Once upon a time I might have been a mage however my gift just didn't work properly. My weird vision left me dreading a possible catastrophic end.
Basri wanted to strangle him how dare he use his powers on him and he was darn well going to make it very clear things like that wouldn't be tolerated.
That's not how it works but I'm sure
I can try an explain to you how I wasn't there but I get the feeling you still wouldn't believe me.
It seemed like forever even though its been only about three but now I'm being introduced to some guy who's going to peruse my mind to see if I'm some threat.
Yeah I tried to warn him.
If Timothy thought he'd waltz in my weyr and inflict fear or creature chaos an mayhem then I'm going to make him
wish he never step foot here.
Okay so he says he has certain requirements to honor his so called deity yeah nope not going to happen your not going in where near my people.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink just like you can talk until your blue in the face but you can't force someone to believe.
Timothy knew this was the spot he just couldn't understand why Eros wanted him here and he knew what would be coming it would be just a matter time.
He'd been so wrapped up in his work he'd lost track of time and now he needed to eat but first he'd needed to check on his unwanted guess.
His scent hit him and like a kid in a candy shop and my sidekick didn't seem to have the will power to stop himself he just keep pushing while I kept trying to resisted.
Even as I realized my own thoughts were pushing my to give in and fell off a cliff.
Reality came roaring back like a bad penny leaving him totally stunned and outraged the only thing that made any sense was the kid did something to him.
I didn't do anything but I did try to warn you however you choose not to hear me.
Eros was growing more demanding he was literally pushing me out the door.
One awkward fight and another prisoner later Basri was at his wits end with very little information.
The key was to figure out who hired the only bozo left and why he want the pyro kid and his book.
No matter how busy everyone else might be around you should always make time for your special daddy.
Timothy's dream had shifted he could tell things had changed now he was trying to understand why Daniel was so important.
Time wasn't on there side and Basri did something he normally wouldn't have crossed his mind at was pray.
Sometimes we have to make tough decisions and hope for the best.

This was a positive surprise.
I struggled a bit with the previous book in the series, so when I started Ashes and Prophets I wasn't exactly motivated, but it ended up being way more engaging!

Content warnings include: violence, death, blinding, force orgasm torture (?), sex on-page, daddy kink; mentions of child abuse in foster homes, teenage homlessness, violence against sex workers, teenage sex workers, getting strangled.

While it started out a bit slow for me, I did like that it picked up immediately where Ashes and Flame left off. Finally the plot was continuous and answered questions that had been left open! Not all of them, however. In fact, at some points it felt like certain details of the first two books were simply forgotten to create more drama. Other details didn't quite add up or weren't explained how they fit together.

My favourite part was a completely new element added to the book. Unfortunately, the way it was handled was.... not good. Or rather, completely threw it under the bus. Arthur and his history was super cool and intriguing and solely responsible for investing me into this book, but ultimately it felt like he and the role he played was totally redudant. He could honestly just have been left out and only minimal changes would be necessary to keep the plot the exact same. I would have argued - and really wanted - him to be a setup for a new book but then... well. That's not gonna happen.

I'm on the fence about the romance. I liked Basri and Timothy together, but I wasn't a fan of their beginnings. Basri was just doing his job as being sceptical of everything Timothy does, while Timothy did his own thing, but the whole one being effectively the other's prison guard just wasn't my jam.

Timothy being the prophet of the god of sex was a nice touch. I liked how all that worked out and was integrated, I just would have liked to know more details about why Eros? Why not another god? Where were they all? What about other prophets? Why did only Eros care? I realize that's probably more "god of sex would be nice" from the authors' side but... from a plot view I still would have liked to know.

I don't know if this is the last book in the series. If it is, it definitely ended with a bang. If not, I hope more ties will be spun back to the plots of books 1 and 2.

I received an ARC and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

**Includes Some Spoilers**

Timothy and Basri have the kind of banter that was both captivating and perfect for their character’s personalities.

BASRI – head of security for Emberwood and tasked with protecting the lands from danger. Imagine his surprise to look up and see a strange man and wonder how he was just able to walk onto the property virtually unnoticed. Not one for trusting many people and was furious at Nix for the intruder being on the property.

TIMOTHY – a runaway and prophet for Eros, a sex god. He was a human with questionable gaps in his past. Forced to spend four days in jail for wandering onto private lands, as Basri did not believe he was a prophet.

Vance (Nix’s mate) is tasked with corroborating Timothy’s story-at the request of Basri- and is in complete awe to hear the voice of Eros while searching the thoughts of the prophet. After the surprise shock for them both, Nix wishes the prophet to be released into Basri’s care. Much to his chagrin, chaffing is an understatement but he dares not argue.
Not long after arriving at Basri’s home, Timothy needs to see the parks in the area and later identifies the precise area – the Emberwood Weyr- that had haunted his dreams while in the jail cell. He warned of imminent danger but in order to see the full desires of Eros, he needed to be intimate. Naturally Basri balks at the idea and Timothy relays to him it would happen regardless of his shrugging off the inevitable.

When Timothy shared with Basri that he could not use magic to make him do anything with him he did not already desire, that seem to be the beginning of Basri having a better belief in all that occurred between them. Timothy also shared with Basri he did not have a choice in how his body was used by Eros as he gave up free will in the name of being a prophet for a god of sex.

In the end for them both, everything was about choices. Enemies or allies? Will they make the right decisions?

A well written series and I look forward to reading more from this wonderfully paired team of authors.

A magic book, a prophet, and a God...oh, my!

This is a wonderful addition to the Dragon Magic series. I was pulled back into the lives of my old friends. They welcomed me home. This is a continuation of the saga, picking up where book three left off. There is a conclusion to this arc and HEA, but I am hoping for a book five. I don't want to leave this world behind.
Timothy is the prophet of the god Eros. His dreams are his omens. They take him to Emberwood Weyr; to Rezzek and Daniel and the Book. Eros makes an appearance, but not to the Dragon shifter who needs to hear him, Basri. Charged with the protection of the Weyr, Basri doesn't believe in Gods, distrusts mages, and really doesn't trust the prophet. Too bad Timothy is his mate.
As the Book nears completion by Daniel & Rezzek, the danger ramps up. Timothy & Basri will be tested. There will be betrayal, redemption, trust, courage, both good and bad mages, and godly intervention. Oh, and lots of sex. This is Eros after all. You will love this book!
Yes, this book has HEA, new hope, no cliffhanger. I have enjoyed this series. As I said, I hope it continues. Please, read the entire series in order. You will be glad you did.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

I found this adventurous MM shifter, quite entertaining to read & I enjoyed reading it. Sadly it is the final book in the “dragon magic” series.
The well-written plot is intriguing & certainly kept my attention with the characters crossovers that enriched the story-line. The two main characters (a rather disbelieving head of security & dragon shifter, Basri) & (a human & apparently a prophet of Eros, Timothy) are well-developed & display believable emotional feelings according to their situations/events & belief.
There is: dragons shifters, various kinds of shifters, mages, espers, prophets, visions, a secrets book, gods, drama, intrigue, action, adventure, suspense, twists & turns, mystery, magic, disbelief, trust issues, attractions, misunderstandings, threats, danger, evil, devious intentions, divine protection, war, violence, conflict, injuries, death, surprises, confrontations, choices, compromises, contentment, love, mates, steamy scenes & a hard-earned happy conclusion. I look forward to future books from these talented authors & would recommend this book (& the series) to people who enjoy reading this genre.

Daddy Dragon finds love with his Prophet Boy

I really enjoyed this entire series and this last book was great and entertaining. Basri the older dragon who is head of security in the weyr is straightlaced by the book and doesn't trust anybody. Along comes Timothy a young dude supposedly a prophet of Eros...the love/sex god. Basri aint buying it. But more and more of Timothy's predictions/prophecy is coming true and Basri and the others(Tam, Vance, Nix, Mikhail, Daniel & Rez) all join together to fight the evil that is threatening their world. Through it all Basri and Timothy attraction is intense and love is blossoming. The upcoming battle tests their love and future but the outcome was sooooo bittersweet. I had a lot of smiles and laughs but towards the end there were some tears...very nice ending but it so more that can be told. 5 Stars!!!

This series is getting better and better. Prophets and gods and dragons? Please sign me up.
Basri and Timothy had a rocky beginning and their journey to happiness was long and paved with danger and death.
Timothy is a kind soul that suffered a lot in his childhood until a fatal demise leads him to Eros who saves him a gives him a propose as his prophet. He knows that ultimately he will have to die to accomplish his mission and in the end he does but is given a choice by Eros to return but has to pay a price.
Basri at beginning fights his attraction to Timothy and as he gets to know him he starts to cherish every moment with him and hopes at a live with him.
It was an amazing story and a little bittersweet but with an emotional happiness that was hard won by Basri and Timothy.
Can't wait to see what happens next.

This is the final novel in the Dragon Magic Series and it is explosive and full of adventure! Basri, is the head of security of the Emberwood Weyr and is very stubborn and set in his ways. Enter Timothy, he claims he is the prophet of Eros; which he became after Eros saved him after a fatal accident when he was younger. Basri is turned off my Timothy's proclamations and is hesitant to believe anything the man says. But many of Timothy's predictions seem to be coming true and it is getting harder and harder for Basri to distrust Timothy and fight off the attraction he feels whenever the man is around.

This book keeps you on your toes and is one adventure after other. You get to join the Emberwood Weyr with Tam, Vance, Nix, Mikhail, Daniel and Rez in this final showdown of good versus evil; mixed in with a new romance. I definitely recommend reading this novel!

Timothy was a prophet of Eros for many years, he went to wherever Eros wanted him to go. He got caught and put in a cell because no one should have been able to get inside. He was told to go there, then he was released to Basri head of security to Emberwood Weyr. They had a few problems with believing Timothy that he was Eros’s prophet but it got straightened out. Basri and Timothy fell in love but they weren’t mated when trouble from Laryn came to take the baby god that was born because he thought that he was going to die as I thought of the visions that he had been having. But Eros gave him the choice of staying with Basri or die the second time, he took Basri but at a price. They were mated after everything was cleared up.

You can hang onto something that is just yours and yours alone. Timothy and Basri's roles is about choices. Personal choices. Weyr choices. Spiritual choices. What a burden they carry every day on top of the current crisis. They are in a huge if-then-else time of their lives. Ms Haven did an excellent job describing the confrontations between all the characters. I know this is the last story of the series and I hope there are parallel series in the futures so we can see what happens to this group. One of the signs of a good author is planting seeds of wanting more without leaving the reader unsatisfied by cliffhangers. Ms Haven excels at that. Well done! I loved Timothy’s and Basri’s story, Timothy is a prophet of Eros he ends up in Emberwood Weyr the dragons Weyr when Timothy gets arrested by Basri who coordinates the security in the Weyr. Basri doesn’t believe anything that Timothy says so they get Nix to read his mind to see if he’s telling the truth or not. I’m not going to get too much into this story there’s action, suspense, danger, twists and turns, drama, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. This is an amazing addition to this series and the best book so far and I definitely recommend this book.

All the mysteries, hints, clues, drama, excitement, love, and mating come together in this final book of the Dragon Magic series. We also get a new romance with Basri and Timothy. The action and adventure continues and I was not disappointed in the ending. You could read this book alone, but you'll get a better understanding of the story and characters if you read the other three books first. The entire series is well-written and engaging, and I recommend it to those who like paranormal/fantasy stories.

Basri and Timothy were such an interesting and eclectic mix! Timothy is a prophet for the God Eros and Basri is the lead for the weyr’s security. Basri does not believe in Gods. Timothy is a sexual person and Basri does not stand a chance against Timothy. This was a fantastic conclusion in the story line. I loved all the stories came together!!

Wonderful!!

These two authors are AMAZING!! What an epic ending to an epic series!! So much going on in this series and it’s a true pleasure to read it. We get an awesome ending that pretty much ties up the loose ends. I also enjoyed seeing all of the characters in the previous books come to this wonderful event. Well worth reading! I think I’m going to have to keep this series to read again.

Wonderful ending

This was a great ending to the story.

I didn't see it coming. There were hints before but this all comes to a head in this book and it's amazing. All lose ends and lingering questions are answered and everyone plays a part.

I really loved Thimothy, he is a great guy from start to finish. And Basri complements him so so well. They are great together.

Great book. Could stand alone, but better read after the other three to enjoy it fully

Sad it’s over

I’m honestly sad the series is over. I loved all of the books but this one was beautifully written and I loved the relationship between Timothy and Basri, and the introduction of the gods. The ending was a little bittersweet for me with what happened, but it was a good ending to the story and the series. Really enjoyable and well written. As a whole the series came together nicely.

This was a great finish. The book tied up everything and it was tremendously entertaining. Timothy was such an awesome character, unapologetic about his urges, brave, witty he was a great match for the stoic Basari, just what he needed. Again with the daddy kink which I don t understand or enjoy but it wasn t over done, it felt natural to them so it didn t turn me.off as it usually does. I enjoyed this series tremendously and I m sad to see it end.

Timothy is a prophet of Eros and is sent to Emberwood to help Daniel but he doesn't know from what or who. Basri is a dragon shifter and the head of security in Emberwood. He doesn't believe or trust Timothy. The more they're thrown together the more Basri realizes Timothy is telling the truth and that he has feelings for him. I really enjoyed this book.

This was an excellent conclusion to the series!! Timothy was great!! He made an excellent prophet of Eros. I am glad Basri got his HEA finally and Timothy was the perfect one to break thru Basri’s walls. The story was intriguing and fast paced and I didn’t want it to be over. I was really hoping Arthur would get a better ending but I was glad to see him somewhat redeemed. I loved this series!!

It had me hooked from beginning to end, and I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this entire series ASAP!

I did not appreciate the erasure of asexual and aromantic people in this book. Timothy says that everyone on the planet worships the god of sex, aka has sex or seeks it out, and that’s not true. A lot of aces don’t like sex and there are some who are averse to it. I wish Timothy had said “most people” or something similar instead.

Even better than the previous book. The chemistry between Basri and Timothy is absolutely sizzling. Plus, I just love it when there is no insta-love, petty miscommunications/misunderstandings going on. They just flung themselves into each other head on and it really suits them. 🥰

I just couldn't get into this. The narration was lovely, but I found Timothy and Basri to be unmatched and bothersome. Being the last in the series, it was a good last book, but I just found myself unengaged throughout.
