Well I can certainly say that this is not your typical romance. There is death, grief, anger, revenge and enlightenment. I would have given this a 5-star rating but the main lead character Ezra's thoughts and actions drove me crazy. He went about like a chicken without a head. Round and round running through a gamut of emotions that were hard to keep up with. When he met Rose, the lead female character, he was attracted and she to him. However, there was not much romance in the story because the majority of the story was about Ezra finding his younger brother's murderer. Towards the end, the story reveals all the lies, all the secrets, all the misunderstandings surrounding Ezra's brother's murder. This part was emotional for me. It was shocking and I had wet eyes I was so moved by the realistic emotions emitted by the characters. This was a difficult book to read. But if you like mystery, dangerous undercover work with romantic complications then this is a good fit.
Ezra Price’s brother Samuel Price is dead, murdered. An anonymous note claimes Archhhiiibald Worthington is the killer. Against his best friend Ralph’s advice, Ezra goes undercover as a footman bodyguard for the Worthington household. Ezra wants revenge; first, he must find evidence to prove Worthington’s guilt.
An upper-class gentleman is playing a footman. What could go wrong?
Plenty, in my opinion, and it does. Ezra searches around the house and has someone look into Worthington’s habits and business dealings. An unlikely confession frees the reader from suspense. How will the characters deal with guilt?
I did not like the inclusion of the sex scene. It diminishes the characters of Ezra and Rose, Worthington’s daughter. It is also out of character for the morals of this period. The act was unnecessary, except to fulfill the title’s message, which itself is a misnomer.
This book was full of surprises and so !ugh emotion. Ezra was dealing with his brothers murder when he received a note saying that the murderer was a man named Archibald. Ezra decided to go undercover as servant in Archibalds home to try and find evidence of he did kill Samuel. While working in Archibald home he started to fall in love with Rose who was Archibalds daughter. They went through a lot when she found out who he really was and that he thought her father might have killed his brother. With the help of others the murderer was found. In the process of finding out who the real killer was a lot of surprise confessions where made. This book was hard to put down once I began reading it.
Surrendering to a Dashing Spy: A Historical Regency Romance (Lustful Lords and Ladies)
The story starts out beautifully, grabbing my attention right away and holding it throughout the entire book. I enjoyed the intrigue, the boldness of Rose, father's love and kindness. For Ezra to become William for real reasons to explore the truth in his brother Samuel's murder. It was interesting how pretending to be a servant he had to learn many things he didn't know for the job, but he was introduced to real feelings the serving staff endured, whether intentional by their employer or not, Ezra kept that knowledge to share the benefits with his own serving staff at home. A great read, fun and light, heavy and sad, sexy and loving.
Could he really pull off being a spy and not get caught?
Ezra's brother Samuel was murdered, Erza is grieved and wants justice done. Can he find the murderer? When clues start coming to him about the murder Ezra knows he needs to find the proof. Becoming a foot man and spying is harder than he suspects. Will he slip up and get caught? It's even harder since the suspect's daughter is so beautiful and is so full of questions. To make matters worse he falls for her...even when nothing good could possibly turn out good. Will he find his answers? Guess you'll just have to follow the clues and find out.
A highly emotional book. Who killed his brother that is what Ezra wants to know and he believes that becoming a footman in the house of Archibald Worthington will help. Then he meets Miss Rose and other things come to his mind. A mystery within a sweet romance made this a grand piece. The characters were engaging and I loved the twists the author put into her tale. The author did a great job introducing not just anger and grief but showed revenge and the shocking truth. This was a highly emotional read it was a marvelous piece.
Another beautifully written story with a brilliant twist
This is another beautifully written story that has a plot full of intrigue and a surprising twist towards the end. The characters are portrayed brilliantly and the extended epilogue is again a delightful finish to the main characters story's. This book will suit anyone who loves historical romances that are slightly steamy and plenty of surprises. I read an ARC copy
Surrendering to a Dashing Spy A Historical Regency Romance Book
This is a very good story about Ezra Price posing as a servant in order to find the man that killed his brother but he did not count on the attraction he felt for Rose as it was her father he suspected. But in the end the killer was found and it was revealed that he was wrong The plot is good and the characters are realistic. The extended epilogue is wonderful.A very good story
I always try and pick the villain right after I "meet" all the characters. In spite of my gut feeling, I changed my mind several times. I was almost tempted to read the last chapter just to get it over with, but hung in there chapter after chapter. What satisfaction that I was spot on even though I switched several times. This was a special book for me in spite of the gratuitous sex. Really made me think to discover the actual villain.
Great, multi-faceted characters. Very interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. I felt every emotion. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. Simply a GREAT read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
This was an enjoyable read with enough of a twist to keep the interest going although you can see it coming. The proof reading is appalling with so many grammatical and spelling errors/typos that it completely ruined it for me. My 9 year old could have done a better job proof reading this. Sorry.
I kind of figured out who killed him brother. With a secret like that it can destroy one life. To be mean to a friend and keep her trapped in the drama and keep going on with your life. To finally know what happened and see that you and your friends have a loving long life.
When his only brother is killed Ezra want revenge! When a message come accusing Archibald Worthingham he go to work for him as a footman. And meets his beautiful daughter Rose, everything becomes complicated, must read to find out the outcome!
Great story about murder mystery and pretending to be a servant,To get his brothers killer. Then meeting Rose whose father he thought had done it.But all worked out well.Enjoy all
I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of William/Ezra and Rose's love story amid the search for his brothers killer. Many surprising twists that kept me guessing until the end. I look forward to the next book!
Text usage, lost the story while trying to decipher the text.
Many words used out of context, wrong words, plural instead of singular, extra words. Etc... obviously not proofread. The story is interesting but had to follow with the text errors.
Our Hero’s brother is apparently in murdered and strongly suspects who did it. But his suspect has a lovely sister and that complicates matters as they fall in love while solving the mystery.
This is my first time reading Emily's book and I really enjoyed the story of Ezra and Rose it was very interesting a lot of unexpected twists but a lovely ending loved it.
After receiving a note indicating that a Lord had killed his brother our Hero investigates by being hired as his bodyguard. But finds all is not as it seems a twist or two later he finds himself falling in love and confused about his brother's killer. Very well written with a surprise ending. A stand alone story with a HEA ending. I would recommend it.
