The PAWSOME abounds when you're owned by a cat! Newspapers may be full of doom-and-gloom headlines, but the lucky people who live with cats have something to be happy about each and every day. Then again, if you live with cats you probably don’t even see those terrifying headlines (because your cat won’t get off the paper long enough for you to read them), and that’s sort of the point. Cats make the very best companions for hundreds of reasons, including:
•Cats are nature’s comedians •Cats shower you with surprise gifts •Cats never abandon you during the tough times •Cats help you make the bed •Cats don't make you feel bad when you leave, but they're psyched when you get home •Dat ass (cat butts are THE BEST!) •Cats make us better humans
Heartwarming, hilarious, and written by Gwen Cooper—New York Times bestselling author of Homer’s Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, My Life in a Cat House, and Spray Anything, among numerous other cat-centric titles—The Book of Pawsome is a touching and raspy-tongue-in-cheek reminder that, even in a world gone mad, cat lovers always have plenty of reasons to smile.
Gwen Cooper is the New York Times bestselling author of the memoirs "Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat" and "Homer: The Ninth Life of a Blind Wonder Cat," and the novels "Love Saves the Day" and "Diary of a South Beach Party Girl."
Her latest project is "Curl Up with a Cat Tale," a first-of-its-kind monthly short-story series, featuring an all-new--and all-true!--humorous and heartfelt tale each and every month about life with her world-famous fur family. (See my website, www.gwencooper.com/cat-tales, for more details and a 60% discount!). Her work has been published in nearly two dozen languages.
Gwen lives in Manhattan with her husband, Laurence. She also lives with her two perfect cats--Clayton the Tripod and his litter-mate, Fanny--who aren't impressed with any of it.
Due to the COVID /lockdown my work/business as a cat sitter has completely stopped........ I’m missing my feline friends hugely but reading especially cat books is keeping me sane 💜 Gwen’s cat stories and books are Pawsome! (Sorry couldn’t resist) All the short articles/stories are very amusing and have made me laugh out loud, much to my cat’s utter disgust! How dare I interrupt his 20 hours of sleep! This book is a great distraction from the current world situation and cat people will love 💜
Cooper started writing this when COVID-19 started and I have to say that it is exactly the book we need right now. Utterly wholesome and fun, this book is getting all 5⭐️
Normally I love Gwen Cooper's books, and this one really wasn't bad, it just was in a format that I had a really hard time getting into. For that reason it took me much longer to finish than it would normally take me to finish a book, especially a cat book. I did enjoy some of the categories, especially as they reminded me so much of my boys, Charlie and Ziggy, but I did feel that some categories were repeated just with different wording. Still it was good, and I do recommend it. I have no doubt that many will adore it, it's just, for me, the formatting was difficult. I do better with longer chapters/stories, I seem to concentrate better is all.
I have five cats. 2 are shelter rescues, 1 is a family donation - these are all inside. The other two were literally born in the barn, and they consider themselves farm cats - except when it's cold, or rainy, or they just want cuddle or breakfast or to show us the various things they have killed. So I spend a good part of the morning playing kitty doorperson. Keep telling cat tales!
Although I flipped through and read bits and pieces of this book, I didn't read the entire thing. I know this was written during the Pandemic in 2020 and the author was trying to be "uplifting", but it felt too much like one of those "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books that I despise. I don't need a book to tell me, flat out, 101 reasons why cats make me happy.
