This is part of the Dragonlance universe and is the first book of a trilogy. In this one, the knighthood is fighting within. Meanwhile goblins are amassing a sizeable army which threatens the knight's land and with them unable to agree about anything they are in trouble.

I liked the idea of this book but I didn't care for its execution. The positive is the battle scenes. They were well detailed and I loved how the author described different maneuvers and how the battles were won or lost. The main reason I did not enjoy this novel was the characters. I did not like one character and I had no connection. The hero of this story is not noble and one expects nobility when reading a book about knights. At one point I was rooting for the villain as he was the only one I somewhat cared about.

No matter how well descriptive a novel is with its setting or its action the characters have to be strong or it will not live up to its billing. That is the problem with this book and therefore I could never connect with this book. I will continue with this series. I am hoping with my knowledge about the characters I will care about their fate.

This book started off real slow but about the middle of the book it really picked up and made me flip the pages. In this book these two adventurers set out and get into a mess of trouble throughout the land. People persue them wherever they go, trying to kill them. I recomend that you read the book to find out the meaning of the book it's really cool.

text to text- this book remindes me of a story my friend and i are writing, it has humor, action and even emotional parts in it.

text to self- the character jaymes i this book remindes me of myself, he quiet most of the time but doesnt like to be messed with or told what to do.

text to world- jaymes and his friend dram are in a war with everyone its them versus the world, kind of like the US and isreal, we have allies but the way things are going its us versus the world.

First Dragonlance book I ever read. I don't suggest starting with it, but boy was it fantastic once I got a grip on what was happening. I hate yet to read the rest of the trilogy, however it is definitely on the list.

I thought this would be another Lord of the Rings knock off, but it turned out to be so much more. The characters were interesting to the point that I actually wanted to knock the back story on each introduced. The writing style was smooth and easy to follow. I was able to easily see the story play out in my head and visualize the description of each scene.

Its a Dragonlance book.

As a teen, I read 56 dragonlance books. This is my 57th and my first in years. My tastes have progressed, but overall I enjoyed it. Starts slow, but progresses and speeds up. Good if you like Dragonlance books.

I was a little disappointed. I loved previous Dragonlance books. This one just didn't have the same Dynamics as the others

I enjoyed this book. The battles were well done and I liked the quest for revenge. The search for three gnomes named Carbo, Sulfie & Salty Pete was getting a bit close to modern times for me.

I just finished reading the first book in the trilogy. Firstly, I am a huge fan of Knights of Solamnia, so I love books about them, even when, as in this series, we see the less noble, sometimes corrupt side of a few knights. Secondly, I love reading about medieval-style battles and societies. That’s where this book really excelled for me. I felt like the Plains of Solamnia were fully realized as a recovering entity following the War of Souls. For me, we could have delved more deeply into the characters, and as much as I liked Coryn the wizard, she did appear out of nowhere at exactly the right time once too often. However, the court intrigue set to the backdrop of impending war with Ankhar and his horde grabbed my attention. Jaymes is not exactly sympathetic, but I look forward to reading more of his exploits with the Knights. I definitely want to know more about him and arguably the best character, Dram Feldspar.

I loved this book. It was my first DragonLance book and a good example at that. Though the ending was confusing and I haven't read the other two yet because I want to go through the ones that I own, this was an amazing book that made a horrible mission trip worth while and inspired me to start writing a new story (which turned out nothing like this might I add)that is now my whole life. It got me hooked and excited to read again. Something that I had lost for a couple of years. Now my nose is once again stuck in a book all the time.

I really liked this book it was a very good addition to the dragonlance series. It ended in a very suspenseful way. I am looking forward for the next book which I am going to get today. The writing style was one I enjoy to read. It was filled with action, suspense, and a very good story line.

This is another debut to a dragonlance trilogy but it focuses on the corruption of the Knights of Solamnia. I really enjoyed this first book and can't wait to read the next one. My favorite characters so far are Coryn the white witch and Dram Feldspar.

Una buena historia, donde le dan un lavado de cara a los caballeros de solamnia.. Algunos deus ex machina ... maldita y bendita magia.. interesantes personajes, aunque el protagonista no es muy carismatico.

Niles has become my second favorite Dragonlance author besides Weiss/Hickman. This is a fast paced story with great characters.
