A SECOND HELPING OF SUMMER It’s the second summer of high school for Okazaki Miku, the school’s number one Gal! Between Cooking Club camp and a night at the school, a whole lot of taboos are getting shattered in these tasty summer days.
And at last with this volume, we get Miku confessing her love to Yabe-sensei and the resulting turmoil it puts him in. I have to say that I am very glad throughout the volume, even as Miku encourages Fujiwara to eventually confess her feelings as well, it continues to swing back around to the point that either of the girls having a relationship with him is technically taboo. It also makes a point to say that there's nothing wrong with the girls having those feelings, but acting on them is something they're not allowed to do without heavy consequences, particularly for Yabe.
That aside, a lot of this volume swings rapidly between overt fanservice with Miku and her struggle emotionally with her feelings and the situation she's in. If anyone up to this point has been seriously bothered by the fanservice she's used for (and I know I've griped about it, because of her age, even though I'm still here,) this is probably the volume that will make you cut-and-run, just based on one particular incident which occurs in the bathroom. In which case I couldn't really blame you if you decide to call it quits here. I'll keep going, partially because I already have the next two volumes, and because this still continues to lighten my mood between other reads when I need it.
