Fractured Ties: Boykov Bratva

Rate this book
Everything comes with a price.

Kolya Boykov isn’t afraid to die—he’s already been dead for a long time.

All it takes is one look at her from across the bar, and Kolya comes to life again. She’s fragile and beautiful and caged. Taking her was the last thing he should have done, but he’s never wanted anything like he wants Maya. As the son of a Bratva boss, no one can stop him from having her.

Maya Kozlov wishes she was invisible—mistreated and unloved, they never let her forget it.

All it takes is a few words from him, and Maya’s life is turned upside down all over again. He’s cold and harsh and terrifying. She should have run the first chance she could, but that’s the thing about Kolya; he makes her want to stay. As the unwanted daughter of a dead man, she just wants to be happy.

There’s only one problem. It’s more than just Kolya who wants to keep Maya forever. Family, legacy, and the mafia … nothing will stand in their way.

The cost of this betrayal is high.

It was high time I read another BK book. I say this in all my reviews of her books but her style of writing and her storytelling ways - are my thing.

Now speaking specifically about this book, it was good but not good enough. Throughout the book I kept waiting for something to make me connect to these characters.

The thing is that I liked them, but I felt like I was reading about side characters instead of the leads. That’s not because others got more story time or were given more importance but simply because I didn’t feel as if we really got to go there, to the core of their issues, to what makes them tick individually and what makes them perfect for each other.

Another point of contention: the insta-love - and I mean love he didn’t fall in lust, he went straight to love and while it was goals cause he was just so respectfully obsessed with her, it was also inconceivable to my mind as to why. And I’m saying this while admitting that I genuinely like the insta-love trope. Anything goes for me as long as in the long run you make me understand it and believe it.

Yes, an argument can be made that the whole point is that you sometimes find someone and you love them for no reason, without knowing them. Like a connection of souls or whatever .. but, truly, here it just didn’t make much sense. (or maybe I’m a bit of a cynic)

Now, if you can get over that, then yes, Kolya, the male MC is just what Maya needs and vice versa. They fit, they are perfectly in love and it’s cute how much he would do or give up just to see her smile. I gotta admit, while reading this I had a few of those forever alone moments cause these people can really rub it in. There were a lot of swoony moments provided by Kolya.

I was also annoyed that Vadim got away with all the s**t he pulled and that the ending was the sort of happy where you kinda have to squint to see it. I mean the Kolya and Maya are together for good but he (Kolya) is still trapped, working for his Dad and doing his bidding anytime even after all the torture the guy put him through. I think Vadim didn’t die because he needs to be the bad guy in the next books as well. And also I think he will die after some careful planning by his children 😏

To be honest, I did enjoy this and I would recommend it, it just depends how you take it I guess.

Now the exciting part is waiting for a book featuring Konstantin, Kolya’s brother (gotta admit, he’s more my kind, I don’t mind murderous psychos - in books, I felt that needed to be said - but I prefer the chill smart ones - you know, the ones who smile and nod while you’re drinking the poison they put in your whiskey - the ones who play the game so well, you don’t notice it was all a game until they won - I have issues 😉)

"Like angel wings sweeping over his skin and touching every single one of his nerves all at once."

Fractured Ties is an action-packed stand-alone from my favorite Mafia Queen Bethany-Kris. Kolya Boykov is a Mafia Prince who will kill and destroy anything that gets in his way of getting what he wants. When he meets Maya Kozlov (in the middle of a takedown), he knows he has to have her. Koyla's father isn't happy with his son and his new "toy". As tensions continue to rise, Koyla will do whatever it takes to keep Maya safe. After all, even monsters have the right to fall in love!

description
"Salt and sex and sweetness.
That's what she tasted like."
Told in multiple POV, Fractured Ties is a flawless read with passion, suspense, and intrigue. The plot is complex with numerous twists and turns. Koyla and Maya could not be more different and yet, together they make a perfect match. I adored Koyla and the continuous inner struggle he faces as his love for Maya becomes undeniable. Koyla's brother Konstantin is another beloved character of mine as he stood by his brother no matter the cost. Together the three make an unstoppable team. As always, Ms. Kris has caught my Kindle on fire with the passion and smoking hot chemistry between these two. In addition to my love for Mafia Romance, there is just something deliciously addictive about a Boykov Man!!!!

"...his kiss, his hand on her throat, and the one working between her thighs were just all too much."
Overall, Fractured Ties might just be my favorite Bethany-Kris book to date. With the non-stop action, suspense, passion, and intrigue, I could not turn the pages fast enough! Mafia Romance Readers are missing out if they don't pick up this goodie today!!!!

Well, well, well! Bethany Kris brought her A game with Kolya and Maya's story, and I loved, inhaled and relished every single word.

Best bits:

Maya - that girl surprised me! From the blurb I thought she was going to be this meek and mild little lamb and she was anything but. I'd forgotten her spunk in an earlier book where we caught glimpses of her. Spunky, sassy, strong and absolutely everything Kolya didn't even know he needed.

Kolya - gawd that man fell so hard and totally owned it. Yes he was an obnoxious, cold, violent a-hole .... until Maya. It's no secret that Dino De Luca is my absolute total tippy top favourite character that BK has penned but ......... shift along Dino, you share your spot with Kolya.

The relationship - just ...... it was everything I needed to read right now, they were all about each other, they were all in and damn, they fought for each other.

There was no push and pull, no I'm not good enough, no ex drama - it. was. brilliant!

There's a lot of twists and turns as is to be expected from this author, a lot of violence and brutality and one absolute POS that needs to DIE .... very, very painfully. Gah I need to see that happen soon.

I loved it and can't wait for Konstantin's book out next month. I'm thinking he's going to surprise me, huge.

I love organized crime stories, whether they are mafia or bratva stories, they definitely have a sweet spot in my heart. The grittier they are, the better they are and Bethany-Kris always delivers on the grit, the passion, the storyline and the connection between her characters.

Kolya Boykov is existing in life. He’s surly, moody, angry, a man without a heart. As the oldest son, he will eventually follow his father position as Pakhan of the Boykov Bratva. He is close with his brother Konstantin in a combative loving kind of way. They really only have each other as their father is not really a father in any way shape or form. Maya Kozlov’s life is dreadful. She’s a daughter that her father didn’t want and a sister to a brother that is equally as awful. But when a faithful night brings Kolya and Maya together, neither would know that their life would be forever changed.

Life in the bratva isn’t easy or nice and for Kolya and Maya to be with one another, they must navigate lies and omission all centered around Maya. This story keep me on my toes and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the connection between the brothers and I especially loved how Kolya and Maya finally found their hearts and love in one another. And Sumerki......he was a wonderful and unexpected addition to Kolya and Maya’s life.

As I’m an epilogue junkie, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t one. The end felt a little rushed imo but I was happy with the outcome of the story. Keeping my fingers crossed that Konstantin and Viktoria each get a story as well.

Have I mentioned lately how obsessed I’ve become with any and all things Bethany-Kris? Probably, but it’s worth mentioning every time I write a review because honestly, the stories just keep getting better! I’m already a fan of all thing organized crime but I love it even more from authors that bring the dark grit just as prominently as the love! And man did she bring it with this story!

The connection between Kolya and Maya sparked from the moment they hit the page. I was truly astounded at how well they connected and navigated given their individual history. Kolya, with his dominant, controlling, possessive and fierceness is exactly what Maya needed to lift herself up and see herself as the beautiful person that she was and Maya gave that right back to Kolya, with her steadfast devotion, understanding and acceptance of Kolya. These two were a love story I did not want to stop reading about. Yes, this is a dark story, but nothing about this romance felt dark to me. These two were an explosive light and their story was so captivating I wanted it to go on forever.

3 stars (spoilers below)

if you're looking for a safe 'i hate everyone in the world but you' book then this is it!

kolya was such a badass alpha hero! and we're not just told about it but actually shown! this man would do anything for maya and it was beautiful. and omg kolya taking care of and loving on their puppy was adorable!

he wasn't a manwhore either! thank fuck. we're told that being with a woman is a "once in a blue moon" kinda thing and he was mostly celibate. no ow drama and didn't even think of any ow.

why not 5 stars?

i hated his father and would've loved to see him die.

we didn't get an epilogue! what was with that HFN ending that still did not feel completely wrapped up? he's still going to work for his father? in the end the father was the alpha of the book and our H/h are still living under his rule and in fear? i don't like that.

other safety deets:

- no cheating. no ow/om drama. they are it for each other.

- heroine was not a virgin and was "passed around" her fathers friends without her consent. she didn't mope on that and it was mentioned once in the beginning. she was strong af.

5 amazing stars.

This book knocked me on my ass. It was ::Chef's kiss:: perfection. If you are the type of romance reader that likes...

-Grumpy, brooding, possessive alpha men that turn into teddy bears around their women
-Smart, witty, and strong heroines with good self esteem. Doesnt fight her attraction to the hero.
-Puppys
-High stakes mafia plot that doesnt suck

...than this is the book for you. Seriously, everything about this book was perfect. I've read many other books by this author and I always enjoy them but this was top-tier. Will absolutely continue with this series and this is definitely a re-read.

Safety:
No cheating.
No other people after meeting.
No OW drama.
Some OM drama- The villain that abused and raped the heroine in the past wants her back and he kidnaps her.
H was not a manwhore and was mostly celibate. You dont read any of his past sexual experiences and his internal dialogue suggested that he didnt care about sex except for once in a blue moon.
Heroine only had bad past sexual experiences. Her father 'loaned' her to men whom he owed a debt.
No push and pull. They both recognize an instant attraction to each other.

Triggers:
Animal cruelty (off page)
Heavy on violence and torture: theres a descriptive scene where the hero is tortured because he betrayed his father to protect the heroine.

Always wanted to know more about Kolya and this did not let me down. I loved getting inside his head, learning what made him into the man he was, and seeing him be different for the one person he felt deserved the change.
Maya, dealt a bad hand, or really a bad family, in life, she was used to being unloved, overlooked. But from the moment Kolya set his eyes on her, she was his and I was LOVINGGGG it. She loved Kolya just the way he was and he loved her beyond even his own understanding. He sacrificed so much for her and she was always right by his side, showing him over and over that they were worth the fight they had to put up to be together.
There was lots of action and people I DESPERATELY wanted to see mangled and dead.
Loved this book.

I loved this book. I’ve had a good run lately book wise.

Kolya is a dark and unhappy character. Forced to live a life he doesn’t want but can’t get out of. All that changes with her voice. He hears Maya’s voice then catches sight of her. He’s stunned and his life changes in that moment.

Maya has no say in her life. Her father used and traded her. And now this Russian enters her life. Kills her father and takes her.

But she’s attracted to Kozlov. And together they work. They complete each other.

While they’re happy together the world isn’t happy with them.

I love books that involve a mob organization, I love seeing their customs, the action, suspense and everything else that involves that theme so of course I like that book. Here we have a very involving and captivating story from the front pages. This book is a little darker than the other writer's books, or at least the customs of the Russian Mafia are more violent. Kolya and Kolya are a great couple. They're intense, sweet and have warm moments together. The connection between them is palpable and I enjoyed the journey of these two. Fractured Lies is a sexy, addictive book, and worth reading to those who like the book of this theme

“Hope did nothing but fucking wreck a man when it was ripped right out of his bleeding hands.”

From start to finish, I was infatuated with Maya & Kolya’s spellbinding love story. It resolves around two broken soul mates and the cruelty they were born into and how they found solace in each others arms.

"He saw her and he'd wanted to have her. He had never wanted anything before- not like that, not so fast, and not with such intensity."

It feels like its been ages since we were first introduced to the Boykovs in the Seasons of Betrayal trilogy written by the wickedly talented Bethany-Kris & London Miller. Fractured Ties is hot and the man responsible for all this panty dropping hotness, is Kolya Boykov. He is vicious, controlling, possessive, unapologetic, dominant and relentless. Being the eldest son he will soon follow in his father’s footsteps as Pakhan of the Boykov Bratva. Known as to the man without a soul he is barely holding onto a thread, until Maya Kozlov walks into his life. One thing I loved about Fractured Ties was the sexual tension that oozed between Kolya & Maya. It’s palpable from the very beginning but I could feel it radiating off the pages. These two are polar opposites of one another, but like a moth to a burning flame they couldn't keep their hands to themselves.

"And then there he was- angry, and confusing, and beautiful. A soul so unlike hers, but one that fit hers, nonetheless."

In typical Bethany-Kris fashion Fractured Ties is action packed, with a dark and twisted romance. Full of of grit, Fractured Ties is a heart crushing love story that will rock your whole fucking world. Hats off to Bethany-Kris for writing such an intriguing, twisted yet beautiful love story!

Good story.
Silent, brooding Hero.
A bit insta love in the sense that they feel a visceral connection when they first meet.
The Hero is a bit numb to feelings so the realisation and declaration of feelings comes a lot later.
There is some abuse in the heroine's background but it vague, hinted at, no detail or scenes.
There is some violence, not huge detail but enough to let your imagination work things out and a particularly gruesome scene towards the end, though again it's not hugely detailed but it's enough.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
No other woman drama.
Other man drama in form of threat to heroine.
No cheating, flirting.
The Hero only sees her and is really sweet with her.
This book is described as a standalone but the Hero's brother features heavily and although events are sorted so the Hero and heroine can have a future together I feel that maybe in the brother's book that will be fully resolved.
To me although deals have been made there is still a risk of threat.
Cute puppy features in story.

HEA.
Epilogue.

Ahhhh!!! I am soooo obsessed with Bethany Kris' stories!!! Fractured Ties was amazing!!!! Kolya Boykov was everything I love in her heroes and more. He was closed off and intimidating but when he found his match in Maya, It.Was.On!!!! This story was not for the light at heart but it was perfect for the usual Kris junkie who know's what to expect from her stories - PURE AMAZINGNESS!

Gah!! I don't think I could love Kolya more! He was everything Maya was not: closed off, dangerous and a killer but his connection to her felt almost other worldly and kismet. They were true opposites but PERFECTION together. I loved this story so much. Maya likewise, despite growing up in a world where she was a victim, was a ray of sunshine that lit up Kolya's world. I loved their devotion to one another. Now I just need Konstantin's book!!! Bravo! 5 stars!! ~Ratula

I was waiting for Boykov’s for ages and Bethany finally delivered!!! Mafia books are my weak spot but it’s getting harder and harder to find smth decent to read, however this one was a win-win for me. I absolutely loved Filthy Marcellos’s series and Season of Betrayal by BK, she has her unique style and her heroes are to die for!!! Besides, I must admit that Kolya Boykov took my breath away with his brooding, twisted character, what a mystery of a man!!! The dynamic of this book was so well done and hold my interest all the time, side characters were promising and I’m already anticipating their stories.

Highly recommend if you’re loving a good mafia romance.

The Russians are back-and better than ever. Honestly-do many mafia books right now, and only a few authors that I can turn to if I want a fantastic, authentic story. Bethany Kris is absolutely one of those authors. I was excited to get back into the Russian mafia world-a lot of is unknown to me and this author always is so knowledgeable while storytelling.
The two main characters couldn’t be more opposite-but that’s what makes their chemistry stand out the most. You can literally feel it sizzling-and through all of the suspense, we’re left with a solid five star read!

Throw in a cute puppy and this dark romance had it all…

Bethany-Kris writes dark mafia and Kolya and Maya’s story was a stellar example. Violence and evil was intertwined with blossoming love as their unexpected connection took them to unknown places. Maya’s life had always been precarious, her days measured by the mood and whim of her father and brother. She was beautiful but staying in the background was healthier. more than that captured Kolya’s attention. He was struggling with his own family problems and didn’t need any more. Too bad his heart and body said differently…

Brutality and violence battled love and loyalty as this story played out. There were some light-hearted moments, Kolya had an unexpected funny side that peaked out occasionally. The sizzle between them caused more than one distraction as well. At the heart of it was love, loyalty and family, no matter how it was sliced, and all of it was reading heaven…

Fractured Ties was an explosive and deeply emotional mafia romance that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Bethany-Kris is so skilled at world building and creating fantastic characters that readers become emotionally invested in. Kolya and Maya's journey was sexy and action-packed. It was an enthralling love story between two seemingly opposite people.

"He saw her and he'd wanted to have her. He had never wanted anything before- not like that, not so fast, and not with such intensity."

I loved everything about the way that Maya and Kolya came together. The way he was captivated by her from the first look was so amazing and I found myself gleefully anticipating what would happen next between them. I really enjoyed the way they balanced each other out. Kolya was dark, violent and brooding, with a surly personality that made others steer clear of him. On the other hand Maya was a warm and bubbly ray of sunshine, with a kind heart and sweet demeanor despite her difficult upbringing. His soft spot for her was evident in their every interaction, and the way he treated her was incredible. Their connection was real and their love developed naturally. I loved how intense their attraction was and how they saw each other in ways no one else did.

"And then there he was- angry, and confusing, and beautiful. A soul so unlike hers, but one that fit hers, nonetheless."

The plot of Fractured Ties was full of suspense and had some moments that I did not see coming. The mafia elements were impeccably done as usual, and balanced well with the romantic ones. I enjoyed a lot of the secondary characters. Both Kolya and Maya had complex family dynamics that added another layer to the story. I am looking forward to reading more about Kolya's siblings. This was an incredibly well written and captivating mafia romance and I can't wait for the rest of the books in this series.

Bethany-Kris made me cry. There I said it.

Fractured Ties is just wow! Kolya Boykov is (bites knuckles) is wow. I know that sounds lame but damn. I'm still trying to get my bearings. I am energized, intrigued, and like a puppy waiting for treats- eager for more.

Fractured Ties is good old fashioned catnip for me. I am a mafia whore. The more the better. I am an even bigger accent ho. I hear (or read) a sexy accent and I am liquid. No foreplay necessary (slight exaggeration, but only slight). So give me Russian Bratva and I can't even try to prevent my eyes from rolling back in my head. But then Bethany-Kris gave me Kolya Boykov (swoony sigh) and now I am at a crossroads, do I give up on my Italians or do I try to make my Mafia fetish work with an international plan!?! 😉

Fractured Ties is sexy, gruesome, and absolute romance. I know most people can't wrap their heads around dismemberment being romantic but trust me, it can be. Fractured Ties is all the lengths one man will go for his dushka. We should all be so lucky!!!!

Kolya gave us his clipped, short answers. He tried to shut us out but he couldn't shut her out and that allowed the reader a chance to see everything the Vor was hiding. Watch out, guard your heart because Kolya is going to steal it without even trying. There's a reason he has the thief's cross.

I love mafia romance, crime romance, well pretty much everything regarding this world and I can’t be more happy with this story.

I love Kolya, he’s not good as he always says, his darkness is like a neon warning to run the opposite side, and that's what Maya should have done, but maybe because she has seen the evil very close she decides to follow Kolya, after all it seems that he still has a piece of soul who hasn’t been corrupted, she sees it in the way he treats his dog, that has to mean something, right?

Maya knows the rejection, the pain and the humiliation from no other then her own father, she could never go unnoticed even if it was what she wanted most. So when Kolya takes her with him she doesn't try to escape, together with him and Sumerki they will face the evil, intrigue and fight together against those who are willing to destroy and reap they apart.
It is horrible to see how your own father is capable of causing so much suffering to his children even when they are old.

I have also liked Konstantine and am looking forward to reading his story in a book just for him.

There’s so much I liked to say about this book but I feel that in my excitement the spoilers coming while I typing are going to be huge!!! I can only recommend to read it, you won’t regretted, I’m definitely not!!!

Kolya is the rough and heartless son of a Bratva boss, and is not really living but just existing, that is till he spots Mays across the room. Maya has had a tough upbringing and is used to being unloved and overlooked. No spoilers: this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written story which is raw, gritty, emotional, and with passion, drama, and love. I was totally hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner which had me on tenterhooks throughout. I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all.

Returning to Chicago with the Boykov’s has been a long time coming. I was so excited to find out that Kolya was finally getting his book. Bethany-Kris didn’t disappoint with Kolya and his love interest Maya. Their chemistry and connection made for one interesting journey. Seeing inside the mind of a man who always came across as stone cold with no feelings is surprising. The walls he let down for Maya made us see the man he truly is and how much love he is capable of. This is a great read and I look forward to more from the Boykovs.

“She was morphine.
He was addicted.
And yet, it was always her who was left feeling far too high from him.”

Life is not a given, there are no guarantees and certainly nothing is forever... bloodshed, pain and death is a promise whispered on the next exhale. Maya has existed in the knowledge that she is nothing more than an opportunity, a tool and a method of payment for her fathers dealings. A pawn in his games so she doesn’t resist when the person controlling the reins abruptly changes as can life get any worse?

Koyla has been raised brutally to teach him to how succeed and take over the family business. His father is cruel and malicious, swiftly taking retribution for any wrongdoings or debts owed. Using Koyla to call in a debt that is overdue and to teach a lesson has an unplanned ripple effect. Koyla never takes anything for himself, shunning his position whilst towing the line as much as he can without drawing too much attention form his father but that abruptly changes when he sees her. His world spins and suddenly his focus shifts from merely being a killing machine to needing her; her soft words, her smiles and her next breath. Can Koyla stay one step ahead of the game? His father wants her gone and she has become the focus of their rivals as payment of debts owed. To what lengths will he go to keep the woman that has become his new addiction?

This is a fantastic read that intertwined need, want, desire and love against the odds through the seedy and dangerous underworld where death is expected and love is a rare fragile thing. I enjoyed this story and loved the gruesome scenes as much as I loved the tenderness and steamy scenes. I hope the other siblings have their chance to voice their stories and that daddy dearest gets a visit from karma... oooh seems the blood thirst rubs off on the reader!

A four and a half star read.

Fractured Ties: Boykov Bratva by Bethany-Kris is the story of Maya Kozlov and Kolya Boykov.
Kolya is the oldest son which has lead his father to train him to be hard, harsh and a killing machine. So Kolya hasn't never had it easy and has felt dead inside. Although him and his brother Konstantin are close and they had to be their for each other due to their father's abuse. So when Koyla lays eyes on Maya something inside him wakes up...she makes him want something more than to just exists and kill for his father. Maya was a unwanted daughter to her father along with her brother who has no feelings for her really. So she is used to being but never having feelings really of love. But there is something about Kolya that shows her something she hasn't felt before, yes he brings danger but he makes her feel something she never had before. Nothing is easy with their path because danger, lies and people wanting to keep them apart stands in their way. This was a page turning dark read...loved it.
