L. Penelope writes great chemistry between her characters, and "Return From Elsewhere" is no exception! This is a very, very short story, so there's not a whole lot else. I think it would be fun to read a larger story based in this world.

Miriella lived on her own at the edge of elsewhere and the pixies came and brought her an unconscious male who she discovered was called Donovan. Seems he had been taken to elsewhere, been imprisoned and abused but he had escaped. She too had experienced being in the fairy realm but she was not totally human as her mother was from the magical realm and she had retained her magic. The spirit Eshu came to take back his property, Donovan, and the enigma was a god but Miriella and Donovan fused their powers together to strengthen the wards around her house and they burned him to a cinder. Was it possible that they had felled the trickster God? Since they seemed stronger together they decided Donovan should stay and so we get to read this very short but sweet magical romance and I would love to read more books by this author I have newly discovered.

Loved the world building she offers in these couple of pages and the romance that shines through.

Am so much looking forward to start reading the Earthsinger Chronicles soon.
