I never ever read a story like this. This is a next-level horror story I could visualize every single word while reading. It was hard for me to sleep for two days after reading the book.

The story is about humanity and ghouls. Ghouls are eating humans and destroying humanity. But the problem is who can stop them. They are powerful beyond our imagination. The story starts with Val she is a nursing student. Her life is going well but changed 360• after an incident. Some ghouls are eating humans and Val found herself one of them. She wants to come out but it is out of her hand.

Then who is going to save her?? Or they will destroy humanity??? She prefers to end her life rather than leave like a ghoul and eat freshly buried humans. But could she end up or she has to live forever like this??? Being a monster is a curse in itself than who is going to come and save mankind???? To know all these and many more go and read the book.

*WARNING: Don't read this book if you are a soft-hearted person/ leaving alone/ or struggling with any kind of mental issue.

Amazing book.

I am not an avid reader of horror stories, but this book just not only grab my attention, but also shakes me from within.

When we were still human : A Eulogy For Our Humanity is an introductory part of the series, by Vaughn A Foster JR. This book contains a great story, perfect plots and paranormal fantasy is really written in enchanting way.

The story starts with a suspense where a nursing student Val, a girl after an accident don't remember anything, and behaves awkwardly.

Val thinks that someone is tracing her, but always find herself alone. She also finds many changes in herself, which make her feel crazy.

Val and Avia (who is an addict), both turned to Ghouls and reborn as the sins of Gluttony and Wrath.

It's really interesting to see how they cope up with their new destiny, their new life. The book challenges the humanity and humankind.

I highly recommend this book to you, the author has made it engaging and interesting. This book is written in lucid language, and has easily understood vocabulary.

When We Were Still Human by Vaughn A. Foster Jr.' is a fantasy cum paranormal novel based on seven deadly sins. I remember reading similar classic drama titled Dr. Faustus based on these sins and how it shapes a mind.
--
Val and Avia are two women living different lives, as a medical student and an addict respectively. Soon, unfortunate events unfold and they're reborn as Ghouls as sins of 'Gluttony' and 'Wrath' respectively.
Both are troubled with this astonishing notion but somehow they cope up with that and settles in this parallel side of the world.
--
This book is the first part in 'A Eulogy for Our Humanity series'. Being an introductory novel it's quite stretched and I would hope the second book in the series is much more concised. The characters on the other hand are repressive. Their voices connects with you and delivers perfectly the side of seven deadly sins.
I liked the sub-plot which is embedded in the story through Vlad, he is a mystery in himself and you want to know more about him.
That shows the story line is character driven.
--
Writing and narration is fancy and suits the genre and compliments the imaginative description of parallel world.
Overall, it's a great read. I hope second part comes soon to complete the mysteries as first part ends as a cliffhanger.

💞When We Were Still Human💞
After the curse of the angels’ sins, seven lives were destroyed and rebuilt;
Those who were born monsters and those who became, all faced with two terrifying questions:
What does it mean to live forever and what does it mean to destroy the world?
.
💞I never read an eulogy, basically this is the first book in the series, the story revolves around Val a nursing student-turned ghoul and Avia an addict leaping between realms. Due to the curse they are reborn as "Gluttony" and "Wrath," these young women must survive a new world where every myth is real and every creature, dethroned god, and spirit lusts for their power.
.
💞Firstly, hats off to the author for bringing a concept and story just so unique. It's written in a way which will definitely shake the reader from head to toe, both thr protagonist are totally opposite and into the world of ghouls they will have to start it all over again, the curse has turned their lives upside down. Avia is still making in the new world but Val, it's truly hard for Val to cope up in the new world and now what happens further is a complete secret. The way it's narrated, it's so gripping and intriguing and it's so intense from the very beginning. The book has the potential to challenge humanity and human race. It throws various questions to us as humans. I loved the way the author blended suspense, fantasy, thrill with paranormal stuff and the way it was brought out was truly amazing. The book is about rebuilding and reformations. It's about the journey of two humans turned Ghouls. But honestly, this is just the beginning and I can't wait to read the second part of the story. Read the book to to find out what happens when we aren't humans anymore?
.
Definitely recommended.

Finally I can write my review 😭 - Goodreads has been giving me an error message for the past few days.

This book was something I had looked forward to reading since last summer, but life happens and sometimes we try and save the best for later. This was not the best. The premise seemed interesting, and I was enticed, intrigued, and entirely captivated. Actually reading this story left me feeling bored and confused for the most part. The characters aren’t really likeable, and aren’t anything more than their “sins” after their “awakening.”
The author introduces a lot of new characters and twists and turns without honestly explaining most of it, so it leaves you in a state of confusion and in a daze.
Not the best story - wouldn’t really recommend.

I NEVER read horror or fantasy, but this buried me deep within the story. I picked this up from my daughter’s bookshelf and read it in one sitting.
The storyline was tight and wove a tale of humanity’s need for redemption and an evaluation of what is the value of just living. The 2 main characters are well developed and relatable as 2 of the deadly sins - I liked them.

The Angels lie, and you are their fifth transgression. They are coming, but we will save you from the saviors. Close your mind and open your soul.

Val was living a normallife as a nursing student and Avia is an addict.
The similarity between them?
They are both turned to Ghouls and are reborn as the sins of Gluttony and Wrath.
While Avia is used to this new world, Val has a hard time accepting her fate and the new path she has to walk on.
Will they be able to thrive in the destiny that was given to them or will they decide to create their own destiny?

When We Were Still Human is a paranormal-esque fantasy novel by Vaughn Foster.
The plot of the book is basically based around the seven deadly sins which is a brilliant idea. (I don't think I've read any books around the same concept). The beginning is heavy and gory and I loved it.
But as you go deeper into the book it gets calmer and less intense where we learn about the new world/realm so a lot of the questions that I had throughout the story were mainly answered in the end but in my opinion this book just acts as an introduction to Val and Avia, the realm and all the side characters and the roles that they play in the story but with the way the book started I was expecting more and I was a tad bit disappointed.
Val and Avia are definitely very different characters and because they are so different from each other it's interesting to see how their personalities deal with the unique situation they are in.
One of the side characters I loved was Vlad, he's definitely intriguing and mysterious but at the same time you wonder if he's someone you should associate yourself with.
The book ends on a cliffhanger so there's definitely going to be a part two which in dying to read.
