Suffers from middle book syndrome, it's just a stereotypical bad middle book.

The characters haven't had any real growth in span of two books. It finally feels like they are growing and learning through their experiences but then it's back tracked, which is so insanely frustrating to read, particularly when you start with such immature characters in the first place.
A lot of weird leaps are taken, a lot of weird assumptions and some misunderstandings.
If almost your entire plot and antagonists could be resolved with one honest conversation it's just not a good plot line. To be fair, the big bad wouldn't be solved this way, but everything else would and going up against him would be far simpler and all the other obstacles around him would go away.

A big problem with the first book was that with the immature characters their interactions and actions were very predictable and that, not only continues into this book, but is heightened in this book. Even things I predicted from the first book came back around in this one.
A big problem for me is that in the end we lose all ground gained from the first two books. I don't like books that are like, it was all a dream, it was a hallucination, it was just what they were thinking of doing but it hasn't happened yet, it was a premonition or just the plot ends up in a circle where the problem the book started out with just happens again after they solve it or make any real ground. It just feels like why did I bother reading any of this in the first place? You wasted my time with a story that ultimately didn't matter. That is what happens in this book/how I feel about the ending of this book.

Ultimately, this book doesn't matter, as is the case with a lot of middle books. Absolutely anything gained from the last two books is written out in the end.

Broken Heart 💔😭

WTF Leia??? 😩😲🤯
This book is an amazing page-turner, action-packed, intense installment, that will blow up your mind with a shocking cliffhanger, your heart is going to bleed 😭
Lily discovers a shocking truth about her origins that will change her life completely 🤯 while dealing with the evil Winter King to retrieve the last crystals, and strenghtening her bond with Liam, who finally accepts his love for her 🤗😍💞
But... I know, why it has to be a "but" 🙄... While seeking a special and powerful weapon that will upper their game, the Winter King attacks, almost bringing Faerie down again and, what is worst... Yes, worst!!! 🙈😔... Liam confesses a terrible secret that broke Lily's (and my) heart to pieces 💔💔
Whyyyy Leia, whyyyy???... I need the next book NOW!!! 😩😫

PS. I might hate Leia a little bit right now but, trust me, this series is so freaking awesome, you have to read it, 💯 recommended!!! 😉😍💖

I so saw that little bit of insight with that cliffhanger coming, I’d been wondering what had happened and now we know!

This book was quicker moving than the last one with a lot more action and backstory!

3.5✨.

✨Serving the Fae✨

4/5⭐️
I’ll start by saying book 2 was dramatically better than book 1 in my opinion. For the most part I couldn’t put it down, although the major “plot twist” at the end I personally felt would’ve been better suited to the end of book 1.

*SPOILER WARNING*

Book two continues to follow Lily’s journey to returning all the magic Tree of Life crystals to Faerie. After books ones ending saw Liam leave Lily and return to the human world, leaving Lily embarrassed and devastated, the two must overcome their issues to form an alliance and work together to restore the crystals in Faerie. Liam has been keeping a secret or two from Lily and all is revealed. It seems the two are battling enemies left, right and centre! Those who are obvious and those who are only obvious to them. With the revelation of who Lily really is hanging over her, it’s a card she holds close to her chest, kinda. Secrets are revealed and intentions less than pure continue to be revealed how will Lily save the world and her relationship?

This book fulfilled a lot more of the potential than book one did. The plot was significantly easier to follow, characters easier to relate too however I still find the romance lacklustre. Its a relation based on a blue light, shallow knowledge and 2 rounds of sex. There isn’t any depth to the relationship. They both declare their undying love for each other without actually knowing a single thing of value about one another. So on the romance front this shallow love is a let down for me. That being said, I dod enjoy the other aspects of the book and the world building was great. There is a great variation in characters that I’d like to see explored more in the final instalment. I also think Liams admission to form the final plot twist would’ve been better suited at the end of book one which would’ve led nicely to an “overcoming that obstacle” story line through book two but that’s my personal preference.

Overall, given how the series progressed in book two I think it redeems book one. I would recommend.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Hey, Hey Peeps! Who's ready for book two of the Daughter of Light series? I know when the ARC landed on my iPad I was super excited to dive back into this world...and it definitely didn't disappoint. This amazing book releases in just a couple of days on the 28th May, so be sure you've pre-ordered yourself a copy!

This review today may be a little shorter to my usual Rambles...but that's more to do with health than anything else. My body is dead set on either making me want to barf or make me so exhausted that my brain is barely functioning. So if I make less sense then usual just blame it on that.

This book was such a fun read. I continued loving the world that was coming to life in front of me and loved how much deeper this story got. Like I'm pretty sure I would've read this a lot faster then I did if my health wasn't being such a pain in my butt or well everywhere lol. If you've read book one, believe me, guys this world created dives so much deeper and there's so much more to see and be told.

There were so many aspects of the story that I just loved so much. I'm totally in love with the friendships and I love how natural they feel. I particularly love Elle and I have a strong fascination with Jasper. I had a feeling when we first met him that he would be seen again and I think we are just scratching the surface of that. But what I also really loved, was seeing more into Liam's life, his family and his story. And oh boy did you see plenty of that in this book. Can I just give a quick heads up and say be prepared for that ending. I feel it necessary to say. I myself saw it coming but STILL it hit hard and I was like

Like I dunno even how this will be processed. Like obvi there's more to that story but with Lily not knowing it and me not knowing it, I'm just left thinking

And guys it is. There are going to be some serious issues and obstacles that will need to be worked through...if Lily lets Liam anywhere near her again. Oh, my poor Liam. My heart is hurting for the guy because you can see right from the beginning something is really plaguing him and like I said I had a feeling but yeah.

Anywho, moving on from my heart-crushing moment for Liam...Gah, there's so many good things to say about this book...it's a story I think many fantasy and fairy lovers will enjoy. The woven story is awesome and I loved every minute of it...and I also really enjoyed learning that I was correct in my assumptions, with pretty much all of it. I love it when I unfold the mysteries within a story. It's like you get this proud moment of accomplishment lol and you become all like...

Maybe in another life, I was meant to be a detective or something...but that feeling never gets old when a truth is uncovered and you knew it would be that way.

So, basically, guys if you read book one and loved it...my point I'm trying to make is that this book even one-ups the first. There were just so many new little threads that were dropped and I tell you Leia will have you eating out of her hands in no time. Sounds weird but...

Okay, quick summary of book. After Liam ditched Lily in Faerie and kinda in front of all her town, our girl is not happy with our boy. Nope, not at all. Her heart is a wee bit broken. But when seeking the remaining crystals just keeps showing up one location, Liam's. Her and Elle decide they may need to give Liam a little visit. Upon tracking the crystal down they find something they didn't expect. His family. Which opens up a lot more to the story.

Lily putting her hurt aside, decides it's in Faerie's best interest to work alongside Liam and his men...and they work together to track the remaining crystals from the Winter King. They make plans and whilst doing so, truths and lies are uncovered. Massive ones at that. Ones that could both destroy and save the Fae world. Remember the journal Lily's mum left? Well, that's one of the secrets that will be revealed within this book. And it's BIG.

You remember Indra right? Well, this Elder is not too impressed with Lily and the way she is trying to save both the Halflings and Fairies. She is definitely up to some games of her own and so Lily and her new and old friends must tread very carefully. The thing is though, that Lily is done playing games and is beyond determined to save her home. So she could be in very real danger of pushing one Elders buttons a little too hard. Guess you'll have to read to find out more about that 😉...Coz no amount of demanding will make me hehe. Even if this becomes you.

My response shall be...

Moving on from my secret-keeping lol. But in all honesty, you do need to read this book. Follow Lily and her friends and new alliances she makes, as they try and right the wrongs of the past...so they can all move into a new era together. But first, they need to get the crystals from the Winter King who has amassed quite the army. This is not going to be an easy feat. Not at all... But with a possible way to slow the King down maybe all won't be lost...but will the cost be too high?. Guess we'll find out more in book three.

Thank you to the absolutely amazing Leia for another incredible story to get lost in. May the next book come out soon because I need to see how everything plays out...and see what the story is behind Liam...that was a mean cliffy and I just want to keep reading. But alas, it's not here waiting for me. So I really feel compelled to say

And to everyone else, I feel it necessary to say

Coz you know, the King is of the Winter court derh lol

So...I hope you are prepared for the story world Leia is going to suck you into....oh and please Leia don't make me wait too long hehe, I'm an impatient book nerd and I just want more and more. I blame all the authors, coz they created this book beast haha.

Hehe you all know you love me...weirdness and all.

Okie doke my brains about done. It's gonna go crash now. I hope you guys all enjoy this new book of Leia's. I'm so excited for you all to read it!

Happy Readings

There’s a lot crammed into this book. The constant action and fast pacing does remove any real sense of urgency, because everything just happens all the time and it’s just run of the mill. (Though it is odd that something her mother spent decades doing she can achieve in two weeks with zero training). It’s a very easy story to fall into, though that end drama was completely ridiculous.

Version: Audiobook

This book is much better than the 1st!
Plot, storyline and characters all develop in the best way within a short period of time.
The world building is easy to get into and follow along with- still a magical romantasy adventure.

More teen than young adult

I think this story was interesting and I loved the character development (who doesn’t love a male love interest who is kind?!). But, the overall vibe between the characters is juvenile, which totally makes sense if these characters were 15. But I think they were supposed to be in their 20s?? The main character has some really crazy, fly off the handle meltdowns. I totally get emotion, all the situations she’s in are crazy stressful. But she had an episode in the beginning of the book where she impulsively reacted, took a night, realized she handled the situation poorly, and apologized. She lacks communication skills, you would think she would learn from that and share her thought process and rational calmly better with her soulmate. So the final scene was kinda cringy to read. I picked up on the clues of this plot twist through the book and I was really looking for a soulmate approach to talking through their problems, the need for respect, trust, and emotional connection. I even thought our boy would have to do some grand gesture to try and redeem himself. Or finally learn what it meant to be in a equal relationship and the care that entails. But no. Now, because of the last scene, I get a feeling our main girl is going to have to be the one to apologize for going nuclear. Like dude, she’s had to apologize the whole book for her reactionary behavior. Let her develop for goodness sake. It’s annoying to read 5 similar situations where the real issue at hand wasnt actually addressed because she had to apologize for her behavior. Make her a true young adult and a leader and not just in idealized vision. I’m thinking the book is part of a trilogy and to go 2 full books without this emotional development just left a pre-teen vibe in my mouth and I’m not really stoked after finishing this book. I’ll read the third because I like the plot but man, not making any big steps on how relationships are an equal partnership with consideration for others lol I can guess what the next book will be set up like, with dual plot lines. I fear it’s going to be predictable.

Oh my gah!!!! The ending. It’s like an icicle straight through the heart!! Why Leia? Why????
The first book sucked me in and made me question how in the world Leia created such fantastic worlds. This one was like a tentacles attached to my leg that wouldn’t let go. I couldn’t put it down once I started. It dragged me deeper and deeper into this magical world. Each step leads us through exciting steps and adventures. Each turn of the page we fight against the darkness and hope for not only a better future but for a romance that breaks every mold.
We learn answers and yet have more questions. We meet new characters and fall harder for those we have already come to know. We battle against the darkness. We win, we lose. Secrets come to light and there’s so much more that has yet to be revealed. We ride the highs and crash with the lows. Then pure heartache and devastation.
I adore this series. Each one she writes gets better and better. I’m feigning for the next book. I know it doesn’t in here, I have hope that it will turn around but I’m grinding my teeth until I can read those pages.
This is a fantastic and beautiful series that you will come back to read again and again.

Lily, in the second book, has a personality upgrade, which is good. She was no longer afraid to voice her opinion and fight for what she believed in. Instead of submitting to the elders, she pushed back and didn't take no for an answer.

I'm glad with how the story is progressing so far. Before I forget, I would like to mention that Lily's power attribute is similar to Sloane's in the Dragons & Druids series. They both need to 'anchor to earth' to be powerful, plus it cures their headache when they go barefoot.

On that note, I look forward to reading the last book, where I hope Lily will be more in tune with her light power. I'm also curious about how the story will unfold. Is there hope for her relationship with Liam? How can she help the halflings, the human parents, but also save the faerie's land without destroying one another? What about Indra and the Winter King? What fate awaits them?

This is the second book in the Daughter of Light series. This was a short read but you get more of the world that Leia built and more romance.

We finally get answers about what Liam is hiding. Lily is getting closer to finding all of the crystals. I loved the twist and turns this one took. I also loved all of the secondary characters, Elle, Lily’s best friend is fierce and always with Lily no matter what. Jasper is back and everyone still hates Indra. I can’t wait to find out what happens to her.

I love Liam and Lily in this one, not only does their relationship grow even more but they start to come together more and trust each other. Towards the end of the book there is a huge bomb that drops and I just hope Lily can get through it and we see a HEA. I know it’ll happen, it just will be interesting to see how Leia develops the story.

It does on a cliffhanger, but so worth it! I received an ARC for an honest review.

From meek & unsure to assertive & bold

We find Lily heartbroken but determined to save her home. She puts aside her hurt and pushes forward. While continuing on her quest she grows more confident in her abilities. Along the way she learns more about the truth of the past. With all this new information she does her best to juggle it all without letting her enemies know what she has discovered. Just when it seems like she is close to having everything her world crumbles. The second book ends with Lily emotionally frayed and scorned.

I just know this third book is going to be a doozy. Will she be able to overcome everything to save her home? And if she does what will be left of her? Finally will her and Liam get their happily ever after? Counting down the days to find out.

3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 because it was addicting and Vanessa Moyen did a fabulous job narrating the audiobook. My biggest criticism is that the books are too short to develop both plot and characters. In this one, we get more plot, but less character development which was the opposite of book 1. Sure we find out more about Lily's powers and how Liam is keeping a dark secret that has him troubled and feeling wholly undeserving of Lily, but really very little aside from that. I'll give credit that Stone definitely put an emphasis on how much Liam treasured his family and especially him mom. That was cute. Not gonna lie.

Lily is thrown a couple hard hitters in book 2. The startling truths of who she is leaves her role on the world more confusing than ever. And what Liam has been hiding from has the ability to destroy her completely.

Oh and I want more mermaids.

It’s spring time!

My allergies require that I tell how much I hate spring and yet I’d give up my antihistamine for a chance at getting my hands on book 3 right now lol I’m so invested in Lily’s story. Some of this books revelations I definitely saw coming, but not all of them. Especially not the twist at the end that’s for sure. My heart breaks for her every time she gets another curveball thrown at her but she’s handling it the best she can under the circumstances, I’ll give her that.

There are some characters I want to see burn at the stake after this book. Like I hate them. So much. But I’m even more excited to see Lily take care of them herself and bring peace to Faerie & finally get the answers she deserves.

Oh what darkness you have my precious;

Book 2 was definitely more fun to read, hard lots more adventures fraught with danger. Still found myself sighing - oh good grief” multiple times, hence the four starts. I’m also a little frustrated because I feel like the ending has been used to death, it’s such a tired ending in my option. I know that’s not worth it’s salt. But hey I am entitled to my opinion. I guess I just expected so much more because of the innovative writing Leia Stone has given us in other series. So to read an ending that left with really you went there? Don’t get me wrong, I still love Leia Stone’s writing and I’ll continue reading everything she puts out and I still recommend this series.

Serving The Fae is the second book in Leia Stone’s Daughter of Light series.

By the end of Seeking The Fae, Lily’s inner strength and confidence in the Elders was running low.

Now with conspiracies running wild, secrets being revealed and the Elders declining Lily’s requests, she’s no longer listening to their rules. But she’ll play the game and continue to gather the crystals to save Faerie.

But does that mean that she’ll need to see Liam before she’s ready and will their soulmate bond impact the decisions Lily makes? Or will she do what’s right first and foremost for Faerie and ignore their bond?

Serving The Fae was a great addition to this series, and I can’t wait to dive into the final book.

"The Dark War hurt both sides,” Liam said. “And our parents pitted us against each other. It’s time we bring in a change with a new generation."

So when I read series, especially from authors I love, I can almost anticipate the plot twists and end results. This series has totally thrown me for a loop. I love the characters and their banter and I love how those relationships change as more of the story is laid out. Lily’s relationship with the Elders is a prime example. As she learns more of her past the conflict and tensions rise. The relationship between Lily and Liam was definitely a page turner and learning more about him and his past mistakes definitely added depth to the plot. Can not wait to see what Leia comes up with for the third book in the series!!!

Secrets and lies

So much for soul mates and happily ever after. Lily is definitely on a rocky path to find love. Lies and deception are everywhere and she is struggling to know who to trust as the war escalates and Faerie deteriorates further. I would get rid of Indra, the Winter King in that order, wake the Queen and let the dust settle but it all sounds easy in theory. The story is a bit predictable at times and Lily and her man lack chemistry as the soul mate instant bond made them not try to get to know each other. More gestures or te together exploring the relationship and understanding Faerie rather than just walking away from it would be more convincing for me.

Lily is getting closer to finding all the crystals while trying to get over Liam leaving. This book will answer questions like “what is Liam hiding?” And “why would Lily’s mom bury her journal?” Lily grows into a brave young woman, Elle grows into a stronger female best friend, Liam has secrets revealed that depending on you will make you love or hate him. And several new supporting characters are wonderfully written to keep the story moving. Be prepared to “not trust anyone” and have the tissues on hand when you get near the end of the book.

Over too soon

This one topped the first one. It is a constant action packed story line with so many twists and turns your constantly left guessing. Their is a villainess you love to hate and a epic war being waged with another enemy. The love story is a fascinating slow burn with lots of back and forth. The besties are in a will they or won’t they flirtation and your constantly wondering is Kira going to heal a son that is a soul mate all the while Mira keeps getting more fascinating... I need the third

Great sequel, lots of action.

Secrets revealed that will blow your mind. Love that it appears that Elle has a crush on a dark fae. I am worried what will happen with Lily and her soulmate because of Indra. I wish Lily would just take over the role of Faerie. I think Infra has more secrets of in store to ensure she stays in power. I am worried about the wizard they keep using. Is he trustworthy? The winter king is really freaking annoying me, because he keeps getting the upper hand. You need to read this, especially if you read the first book.

After the first book, I thought Lilly would be more mature. She was raised without knowing anything from life, which really makes her naive from the real life she is facing now. However, she still acts like the girl she used to be, not wanting to face the reality. Apart from that, it was great to learn more of Liam, meeting his family. Learn how far he went to protect those he loves. Though darkness permeates his soul, he struggles it in every way. If there’s a strong character, this definitely is Liam.

Damn... this was pretty good

I genuinely enjoy reading Leia Stone’s books (my reviews of them are usually highly critical) but I just like the ideas she comes up with and when she’s in the zone the stories she creates are magically entertaining.
This book definitely made up for the unevenness of story telling that was the first in the series.
We got a bit more lore and things here were much more evenly paced but still jam packed with nonstop action. Lily wasn’t even that annoying and useless. She’s growing and evolving.
Can’t wait for book three

Intense!!

Holy moly!! I have no words to express how amazing this book is!! It was so hard to put the book down!! Wow!!! I’m completely speechless. I love Lily and her crew. I absolutely loved discovering more of the Fae world as well. So much happens in this book. We get a lot of answers and I cannot wait to see what happened in the next installment. If your looking for a fast paced, intense read then pick this book up. It’s out of this world!!
