I don’t understand hockey at all. Or any sport. Attending a team party with my best friend might be a mistake. As an out and proud geek, I admit that hanging out with a bunch of jocks and their admirers isn’t my idea of fun, but getting kidnapped by a sexy hockey player who claims to have a crush on me is definitely a highlight. And finding out that Logan St. James is bisexual makes everything more interesting.
Logan-
Keeping my big bi secret hasn’t been easy. I have a couple of months of college left and one more game to play. I’m determined to make the most of it and spend as much time as possible with the sexy guy I’ve had a crush on since freshman year. I don’t want this to be over. There must be a way to come out in spring.
Out in Spring is a low-angst MM, bisexual awakening staring a hunky hockey player, a sweet-natured geek, and a little college fun. This story is part of the Out in College series, but each book can be read as a stand-alone.
Lane Hayes loves a good romance! She’s the bestselling author of the Out in College, Starting From, Better Than, A Kind Of, Right and Wrong, and Leaning Into Series! Lane loves red wine, chocolate and travel (in no particular order). All things she can find in sunny SoCal where she lives with her amazing husband in a not quite empty nest.
Nerd meets jock, and the jock is smitten first. Fun, sexy, angst free, only a tiny misunderstanding resolved immediately, tentative HEA ... all the good things!
A sweet, sexy, fun, low angst addition to the Out in College series. 🥰
Nerd and Jock. 😍

Possible tiny review to come but I kind of doubt it. I’m reading all of these freebies from the giveaway so fast that I can’t possibly review them all and am not in the mood to do so.
Cute, quick little story about the Jock, Logan, and the nerd, Ned (real name Edward.)
They meet at a party where Ned doesn't mean to be, but is dragged there by his best friend, Kendra (from the previous book who became Colby's friend). Logan is there but wants to avoid his recent ex, and uses Ned as an excuse to flee the scene, so to speak.
Ned is instantly infatuated with Logan, and Logan, it turns out, has had a crush on Ned for years. This isn't too much about Logan coming out or anything, as he's mostly out anyway. He's only not out in the sense that he doesn't advertise his bisexuality in the world of hockey, even in college, which is understandable.
But there's no big drama over it, so this one barely qualifies as a coming out book as the previous 5 have been, but it's close enough.
After Logan and Ned connect in Logan's car, and then stop at a park and talk for hours on end and Logan asks Ned out on a date, there starts a romantic relationship between the two.
I liked there connection, they had a very hot scene as well in the library that you'll just have to read ;).
I wish this had been longer, so even more depth could have been given to these characters, but overall this was a fun romance. I love this series.
Out in Spring is book 6 in the Out of College Series; it can be read as standalone . Currently is FREE from May 1, 2020 to May 7, 2020 through ProlificWorks . Link at the bottom of this review.
I enjoyed this sweet, sexy , fun and angst, drama free novella.
Ned and Logan are great together and for being a short story it has good character development and a good plot.
Had this been a full length novel, perhaps Lane Hayes could have fleshed out the characters to make them more than stereotypes (happy go lucky cheery bi jock & organized nerdy engineering gay genius).
Despite the 2D characters and lack of angst, I enjoyed the tale and the narration by Michael Dean/Pauley.
This is a standalone, I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series and I didn’t feel lost.
This was such a cute read! Ned and Logan are complete opposites who are just adorable together. It's a quick read, with little to no angst and drama- just a tiny bit when it came to Logan and his plans for the future. This book gave me the warm fuzzies` It was fun to see some of the characters from previous Out in College books, and I just loved the Easter egg Ms. Hayes threw in there!
I know, I know. I'm a broken record when it comes to Lane's books. She really is one of my favorites and an auto read.
This was a super cute, seriously hot little shorty and a perfect fit to this series.
My only complaint really was that I wish it was longer!
Keep an eye out for the quicky crossover mention to the Leaning Into Series. If you haven't read that one you definitely should!
I can't wait for the next one!
So, I actually got this as a freebie promo that a bunch of Authors did on ProlificWorks before I got it from IndiGo, but since I still did get an ARC kind of I feel like I still need to put the note...

This one is a little different. A bit shorter and written in alternate POV instead of just one POV.
Logan is bi, he is out to his family and friends, but not to his hockey team. He is graduating soon and doesn’t care so much about keeping it a secret anymore but he is still in the closet somewhat. He has crushed on cute nerdy Ned for years, and is finally brave enough to make a move and ask him out.
It’s cute, sweet, sexy, low angst. There is a coming out moment in the end but it isn’t as big a deal as in the other books. Just a cute short romance really. I approve.
The Jock and the Nerd... oh how I love this trope! Our hockey jock Logan has had a crush on nerdy Ned since freshman year, surprising our Ned has only just discovered Logan’s... attributes...
Logan’s mind is amazing, his thoughts go a mile a minute and I just loved it!
“You’re right, except I am attracted to you,” he said softly. That stopped me. “Shut up.” I rolled my eyes and snorted. “I’m serious. Hey, I wouldn’t just call anyone my fake boyfriend.”
Ned is experienced and nerdy sexy but obviously a little tongue tied when it comes to facing his new crush...
A lot of time has passed, and I have more experience in…” “In what?” “Sex stuff,” he replied in a small voice. “Keep going,” I prodded. “No, I think I’m digging myself a hole. A sex hole.”
But as soon as they come together, I started swooning hard core, Logan was so sensitive and cute and Ned just gave himself away so beautifully.
Nothing mattered but the press of Ned’s thigh against mine, the deep timbre of his voice, and the incredible feeling that I’d met someone special.
And then how both of them were possessive of each other was pure enjoyment on my part!
Ned shrugged, then narrowed his gaze curiously when a pretty girl in a tight skirt and high-heeled leather boots eye-fucked me as she passed by. “Are you on a menu somewhere? Why is everyone looking at you like you’re the last slice of birthday cake?” I snickered. “Are you suggesting that I’m not?”
Logan: I knew that having my finger in his ass didn’t give me the right to get territorial. But hey, he was mine
Me then... beauties like this just sealed the deal...
“You’re pretty pleased with yourself, aren’t you?” “Damn right I am. I’m naked in my bed with the guy I’ve been obsessed with for years. We just shared a mind-altering experience. It might be a little selfish, but if sitting reminds you of me for the next day or so, I’m kinda glad.”
When my boyfriend suggested enacting a puck bunny-slash-fuck bunny fantasy, I almost blew my load on the spot
I might not know what’s coming next, but you’re my compass. I’ll let you lead the way
And lastly, we get a mention of Eric from Leaning into Love, and I kinda died on the spot.
This was the perfect short story! My face hurts from all the smiling I did as I read this book! Ned and Logan are an opposites attract story of nerd and jock. It was sexy and sweet and a bit of a crossover surprise that fans of a certain series will be super happy to read about. No spoilers here. Low angst and high chemistry. A definite must read!
Lacked enough communication (both think that the other wants to stay in the closet) and Logan is weirdly aggressive in his pursuit of Ned in the beginning.
What a great little story to pass the time before the next big one. I LOVE a nerd/jock romance! And this was the things I love about them. With the twist of the jock liking the nerd. This had low to no angst and a tiny misunderstanding. Other than that it was about the fun journey of finding your love with unexpected people. The writing was great. The banter was perfect, I laughed out loud a few times. The smexy was hawt, and the side characters we already know and love. Can’t wait to hear Elliot’s story
3.5 stars Logan St. James is a college senior on the hockey team at Long Beach State. He's bisexual, and open about it with his accepting family, but he's mostly only dated women at school. He's had a crush on a fellow student he caught sight of way back in freshman year, Ned Bailey. Logan notices the studious boy at freshman orientation, and has noticed him many times over the years--most recently when Ned got his book order together for this final semester. Logan's last "girlfriend" Kelly was way more serious than he was--thinking they were headed for marriage after college, even getting her father to offer Logan a job, but
Logan is pretty blase about it all. He doesn't want a job with strings, and he's not really sure what he wants to do with his communications degree. Or his future. Which is rather unsettling to Ned, who is hyperfocused on his future as an engineer. Also, it's odd for Ned, who sees himself as a thin, nerdy guy, to find himself attractive to a strong, athletic, attractive partner.
What was a chance encounter at a hockey team party--where Ned got dragged by his BFF who's a hockey groupie--turns into an odd-couple romance. This is complicated by Logan wanting to keep everything on the down-low because he doesn't want to rock the boat before his charity game in May. Also, Kelly's still avidly pursuing Logan, and occassionaly making a nuisance of herself. That's a drag for both Logan and Ned--Ned because he doesn't want to out Logan. And the pressure is kind of getting to Ned, in truth. He's worked up about getting a good position at a firm, and his falling for Logan is becoming a complication. He shouldn't really base his job choice on whether he'd be able to see Logan, right?
This novella is a quick peek into love for Logan, who's coming out in the spring. He's been hesitant to do it, but now that he and Ned are going strong, he's ready to take that step. It's so sweet seeing Logan fall hard for his crush, and introduce Ned to the important people in his life. My biggest complaint was I wanted more! Things like character development and relationship building felt a little rushed, compared to other stories in this series. I just adore these stories and I would have enjoyed seeing Ned and Logan in their growth toward coupledom. There's some steamy sexytimes, a little pondering about the future, and a happy ending. Pretty much just enough to keep you entertained on a rainy afternoon.

Out in Spring is the 6th installment in the Out in College series. This short novella can easily be read as a standalone with zero confusion.
The perfect hour and a half escape on a rainy, blustery spring day.
Ned is out and proud, a man who desires to break out of the mold his family has created, wanting to pave this own path through life, simply because he needs to know if he can do it on his own. Ned is solid.
Then there is Logan. A bisexual hockey-player-sized humming bird or squirrel, his personality is high-energy, zany, and a little bit nuts. Reading Logan's narrative, as well as the conversations he has with Ned, it had my mind spinning all over the place. While humorous, silly yet sweet, and lighthearted, it made the novella seem as unfocused as their conversations.
A tasty treat, but with so few pages, it was impossible for me to connect deeply with the characters or root for their HEAs. There wasn't enough content to become invested.
On the drama/conflict front, it seems just tacked on, unnecessary, and insulting to the female gender. The ex-girlfriend was meant to bring the drama, but it just fell flat. Led to nowhere.
I don't understand why people attempt to hold others hostage in a relationship, no matter the means, in order to get them to stay, when it's clear they don't want them. But this is all on Logan. Tell her no. Stop dragging it out in fear of hurting her feelings. They weren't together, knew they'd never be together. To be honest, this has more to do with Logan not putting up any boundaries than it does a crazy ex. It was Logan's responsibility to remove all miscommunication. You can't so obviously manipulate someone once they tell you no. I get that this is from the male perspective, but dang... someone needed to tell her to stop being so obviously desperate for someone who didn't want her.
It put a bad taste in my mouth yet again that women have to be the villain in a tale about two boys who kiss each other, when she had zero impact on the story whatsoever.
A cute, fast novella, balanced between a zany hummingbird of a hockey player and a calm and serious thinker, with a delirious ex to bring a hiccup of conflict. I look forward to more of this series in the future.

This is the sixth book in the series, and whilst it could be enjoyed as standalone, it follows on from earlier books and includes protagonists from them.
Logan is coming to the end of his time at college and his hockey career. He has an ex-girlfriend called Kelly, who doesn't really want to let him go, and tempts him with a job in her father's business. She called it off after he told her that he was bisexual, so really she has no claim, but try explaining that to her ...
Ned has avoided jocks throughout college but supports his bff, Kendra in her mission to get herself a hockey playing boyfriend (or hook up). This sets up a meeting between Logan and Ned ... although we do learn that it is not Logan's first sight of Ned, not at all. I enjoyed the lightness of touch between the two of them - the nerves of Ned to be with such a big guy, and the 'kidnap' make for a great first meeting story.
As the two men get closer, they both recognise this could be special, but are dealing with their own hangups regarding it being more than a short term thing. I really enjoyed the low level of drama, and the real issues which final year students have to deal with; love, career, exams and life in general.
Another good story based on a very lovely romance. Thank you Lane Hayes!
