I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this. I started by going through and photographing all of the crafts that I want to make during COVID. I then went through a second time to flag each recipe I wanted to create.
The book has so much packed in the pages that it could easily keep me entertained for months. I love Handmade Charlotte’s aesthetic, the cheerful tone, and the joy it brings me spending time with the activities. Just what I needed!

This book is filled to overflowing with over one hundred recipes, crafts, games, and activities. The book focuses on plain, simple, old-fashioned fun that families or other groups can work on and play at together.
This book is well-organized and user-friendly from start to finish. The excellent photography with stepped-out instructions for each project invites children, tweens, teens, and adults to gather together to reach a common goal and to enjoy the joy found in time spent together.
The book is organized in alphabetical order with the activities organized by the first letter of the project's name. The recipes, games, and crafts are blended together in each chapter. Some of the projects are basic craft projects, and others are intricate art projects or artistic food recipes you can use for parties, etc.
One of my favorite recipes is the Daffodil Cupcakes recipes. This pretty cupcake would be perfect for a spring bridal shower, baby shower, or Easter dinner. Other awesome food recipes are the Cucumber Cakes, Granola Bars, and Zucchini Bread.
You knew I wouldn't forget to mention the clever sewing projects the author has included in this book, right? The Kitten Clutches, Easy Embroidery, Cross-Stitch Magnets, and Friendship Bracelets are inexpensive and easy ways to ignite your child's interest in needle and thread crafts.
The author's website has a broad range of resources, including many of these projects, available for public use. Her creative designs along with her warm, welcoming writing style make this book a great resource for families, teachers, librarians, scout/day care/camp/youth group leaders, and others interested in creating their own fun.
I borrowed this book from our local public library where it is catalogued under the Juvenile Non-Fiction section in the Children's Collection.

Verveeld?

I started my shopping for Christmas early this year and what a perfect gift to give to my dear crafty friend. The projects really remind me of the days when life was simple and there was no internet, and finding a book with everything you needed for family games, crafts and food ideas was so hard to find. This fit the bill perfectly and I can't wait for Christmas morning!

I am a lifelong crafter and love this book so much. There are projects for kids of all ages, so I know that as my daughter grows there will always be a craft she can make. Many of the projects use recycled materials too!

Amazing purchase! I’m so excited to try all these crafts and recipes! Especially in the middle of a pandemic - I need all the new ideas I can get. Everything is so beautiful. I love the aesthetics of it. I’m inspired!

What a great book for kids of all ages. These crafts are so helpful especially during the pandemic - I’m running out of craft ideas! Not anymore. Can’t wait to try the recipes - everything looks so good, not sure which one to try first. Definitely recommend.

I'm possibly being too generous with my rating, but it is based on a couple of things. First, the review copy I received shows 8 of the "over 100" projects, so there is no way to give a complete review. Second, the 8 projects aren't really for the whole family, they are to do with small, like very small, children. Which would be fine if the book was claiming to be for parents of very small children, but it is aimed at families for family fun. Most of what I saw reminded me of the projects I did in nursery school and maybe kindergarten. So there you have your "family fun."
With such a small sampling in a review copy it just makes me wonder if they truly believed this was the best of the entire book. If so, well, like I said, maybe for preschool children. I am always skeptical of review copies that are not willing to share the entire work. It doesn't allow for a full review and, as such, makes me wonder if that is exactly what they don't want.
Don't order this sight unseen. Go to a bookstore when it is released and thumb through it. If the ideas in it are what you want, buy it. But don't order online unless you already know that her preschool-type activities on her social media accounts are what you want.
Reviewed from a copy made available by the publisher via Edelweiss.

The equality of the crafts and instructions is unparalleled. Can't wait for all the future celebrations so I can try lots of new crafts with my little cousins that will be the star of the show! So much fun for all involved. Thank you so much!

Worth checking out from your local library. I would not buy it, but it has several good ideas.

The Handmade Charlotte Playbook is a smorgasbord of ideas and fun. It's arranged alphabetically for easy access. So if you're ready to make a banana puppet made out of aluminum foil, you'll find it in seconds. In addition to banana puppets, you will find everything from papier-mâché potatoes to a unicorn puppet to an occasional recipe such as zucchini cupcakes with lemon and blueberries. I will probably start by making a banana puppet or two for storytimes and then see what my existing supplies can make. I plan on using this book for storytimes, STEAM ideas, gifts, and interactive displays/crafts once we are able to interact again.
