Shylah was living her best life. Not only was her new job at Project Arma, hundreds of miles from her suffocating family, but she also got to work day in, day out with Navy SEALs. It didn’t take long for one of those SEALs to catch her eye. As Shylah and Eden grew closer, her life began to feel perfect. Until she overheard a conversation she was never meant to hear.
Is Project Arma the next step in protecting America’s armed forces?
Or has Shylah uncovered it to be something much more deadly?
Eden lived and breathed his job as a Navy SEAL. Partaking in Project Arma was just another perk of the job. Becoming faster and stronger was expected. Meeting Shylah, the pretty nurse, wasn’t. Neither was falling for her.
Everything was perfect.
Until it wasn’t.
What secrets were hiding behind those brown eyes of hers?
You’ll adore this short story military romance because the passion is real, the drama is non-stop, and the secrets are deadly.
Australian Romantic Suspense Author, Nyssa Kathryn, is a passionate reader and writer of all things romance. Living in South Australia with her hubby and daughter, when she's not spending time with the family, she's either plotting her next story or got her head stuck in a book.
So let's talk about the fact that there is a top-secret, potentially illegal research project going on but the security is so lax as to be laughable. Let's talk about the fact that they have incredibly advanced technology to mess with human biology and physiology, but apparently lack the technology to install an eye or palm scanner at the entrance of the facility... or a CCTV feed inside the lab. Let's talk about the fact that a lowly nurse who is not in the know is given a key to enter the facility at any time she wants. Let's talk about the fact that the head researcher is so careless about his top-secret research that he has keyed in his computer password in full view of all his staff (including said lowly nurse) so many times that the lowly nurse is able to memorise it and use it to get into his computer, and doesn't even need to hack into the computer system or the database to find the information she needs. Let's talk about the fact that the lowly nurse is able to "get in contact with federal agents about her suspicions", just like that. Let's talk about the fact that she sends off sensitive information in a USB drive through the mail, for God's sake. Are we in the 20th century? Why not just encrypt the file and email it? Or upload it to cloud storage and send a link? And finally, let's talk about the fact that the lowly nurse feels she has to protect the big, bad SEAL -- who, mind you, is trained for combat and has been to countless war zones -- so she cannot tell him what nefarious deeds are being committed. Really?
Wow this was a new to me author and definitely one I'll be following from now on. This might of been a short prequel but boy did it pack a punch. Great way to start a series.
What a great start to a new series! This is an awesome short story full of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Shylah’s a nurse at a SEAL base where she meets swoon worthy Navy SEAL Eden. When she discovers that something’s not as it should be at base, she’s in a race against time to save him. This book leads into the first full length book in the series. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
This is a prequel to the 'project Arma' series. The Navy SEAL team this series follows are all seen here.
Though mainly it's about Eden & Shylah's Relation. It's start, deepening, them falling in love..
She's the nurse & after overhearing the dickward doc, is suspicious about this project & worried for the guys' lives. Especially Eden's.
Towards the end, She's finally found evidence & gotten it to FBI. The Guys' team's leaving for a mission. Will The project Found? What's its motive? Will the guys' be okay?
I can already tell this is gonna be a great series. Shylah is a nurse in a special project for Navy Seals. Eden is one of those seals. This is a super short story that introduces this new series. No cliff hanger just a to be continued ending with more to come.
No!!!!!! You left me hanging. 😁 but actually that’s great. Can’t wait for Luca!!!! 26 May they say! Need to know what happens next. Gonna be a great series!!!
Read Luca first, and then noticed that there was this prequel, so before reading Eden's story, I decided to read this.
Overall, I like these characters and the plot angle with the medical enhancements; although, it does remind me a bit too much of Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series, which is much more complex and story driven. This is a bit too simplistic and "easy" in comparison. If I had to chose between the series or rate them, Feehan's Ghostwalker's series would be a 10, and this would be around a 4. Not that this series is "bad," but it pales in comparison to Feehan's world building and character development.
One of my biggest issue here is with Eden's lack of observation skills while being a SEAL. He has been having a weekly medical treatment and didn't notice the nurse giving him the injection? Come on!!! He's a SEAL. The author wants us to believe he never even glanced at the person giving him a shot? Then, when he finally does, it's like love at first sight? Nope. Doesn't work.
Now, when we add his reaction to Shylah with Luca's reaction to Evie, it starts to get a bit bothersome. The whole "I don't know what it is, but I'm now obsessed with you" vibe is total cringe. Give us something. Does he like her personality? Does he like her laugh? Her intelligence? Her looks? etc... Anything? Other than her behind, which he discusses with Asher.
On to certain dialogue... I understand that writers need to consider how an intimate scene can play out in their books. They need to consider how to make it semi-realistic while also creating a fantasy for readers. I tend to skip over most of that anyway because if you've read one, you've read them all. However, in this case, something stuck out to me while skimming those sections, so I took an informal poll to see how many of my female friends, during a certain, enjoyable foreplay scenario, would tell their significant other to stop in order to move things along by saying, "Don't make me wait." Yeah...not one. Most of them made a face and said, "No. Why would you do that?" Both Evie and Shylah say basically this line at a specific time. I'm now kind of invested to see if that line crops up in all of the other books in this series.
Other things, the big secret. It makes no sense for Shylah to keep that secret and allow the man she supposedly loves to potentially be killed on a weekly basis. They are both involved in the project. They even talk about it, but she hides this potentially fatal piece of information? How much can you possible love someone if you are keeping a secret that could cause their death? Does it cause some tension in the story line, sure, but it also makes Shylah less than a sympathetic or likeable character. We get her motivations and back story, which is fine, but it also leads to a "None of this had to happen if you had just told the truth" moment, which can be frustrating to readers.
Hopefully, the series will get better. It has a lot of potential, but it is falling a bit short.
I give 5 stars for the series but different stars for each individual book. Rather than write a review of each of the 8 books, I'm just going to write 1 for the series. The series is about a group of former Navy SEALs who were experimented on without their consent and became super soldiers. They now run a business together while investigating the man/people who did this to them and still present a threat to them and their loved ones. Each man falls for a woman he needs to protect from their enemies. My initial impression of this series was that it was going to be a collection of stories that satisfy an array of tropes with the dedicated, loyal, protective hot guy falling for, and needing to protect, the strong but tormented woman. It is that; and if that was all it was, I would have been fine with that. I would have read them, probably more slowly, and taken breaks between books for maybe a little more substance. However, this series was tied together really well with the background story of chasing the bad guys who did this to them. With every story, it revealed a little more of what was going on, someone else involved, and increased the stakes. It really sucked me in, making it increasingly harder to stop reading and impossible to read anything else between books. For the last 3 books, I started reading the next book immediately after finishing the previous book, and kept reading until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. The whole series together was quite good but should be read in order. I also highly recommend the audiobooks. I listened while reading along.
This prequel is best read before Eden as it sets up Eden and Shylah's story.
Eden Cole is a Navy Seal and his team is currently involved in Project Arma. This project is supposed to increase his physical capabilities and make him more of a super soldier. Shylah Kemp is a nurse on the project who has noticed Eden right from the beginning but lately something is off with the project but she is afraid to talk to anyone. When Eden defends Shylah in an altercation she is having with a doctor it appears that he finally notices he. As the two begin to get close will Shylah let Eden into her suspicions? This was a great beginning to the series and I really enjoyed how it began although I really wanted the story to be longer. I really liked Eden and found that he was super caring and protective over Shylah from their first interaction onwards. He was definitely intimidating with his size and I liked how he explained all of his team members to Shylah. Shylah really enjoyed her job and working with the soldiers but when she overhears something she knows she has to do what it takes to protect Eden. Yet she needs to do things secretly as she knows her life is on the line and doesn’t want to let Eden know what’s going on. It was obvious how much Eden cared for Shylah so I was a little disappointed that she didn’t let him know what was going on! I know that more is coming as the ending left me surprised!!
Eden is a Navy SEAL. He and his team have been chosen and agreed to be a part of a study to see if SEAL's abilities and recovery times can be enhanced with special supplements and work out routines. The study is called Project Arma. Shylah is a nurse working for Project Arma. She gives the team their weekly injections. She has been watching Eden while the team works out. After almost a year of participating in the project the guys are noticing they heal much faster and some of their senses seem to be much more acute. When Shylah starts to suspect that the project is something other than what they have been told, is her life in danger? Can the team keep her safe? Will the truth be uncovered?
This is an exciting action packed book. I love the camaraderie, friendship, loyalty and sense of family between the team members. The characters are well developed and have such depth. This unexpected plot twists, intrigue, conspiracy and a bit of romance. I'm ready to read the whole series. This book can be read as a stand alone.
Always looking for new authors, and loving military stories, I couldn’t wait to read this novella which works as a prologue/prequel to the series as well as introduces the Navy SEALs being experimented on. This story belongs to Navy SEAL Eden and Shylah Kemp, a nurse at the facility/lab where the SEALs are being kept. As a tentative relation begins between the two of them, so do the suspicions Shylah has about the project. Are they trying to really enhance the SEALs or are they just guinea pigs? Do the testers care for these men at all? Fearing the harm being inflicted, Shylah keeps secrets and tries to investigate what’s happening. A very dangerous attempt that puts her in the line of fire. This is a story filled with romance, bad guys, and a great deal of suspense. It’s ending leaves you wondering what’s going to happen next. A promising start to a series I am sure going to continue reading. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is the prequel to the series. Nyssa is a new author. Eden Cole loves his job as a navy SEAL. So, when he and his team are asked to participate in a program they do without hesitation. Shylah is a nurse who works at the facility. They hit it off and begin to date. Shylah begins to wonder when she over hears some things. She goes to the FBI with her worries. They say she needs to get more info so she does. She must keep this from Eden and it is killing her. Eden can tell she is hiding something just not what. When the crap hit the proverbial fan, Eden thinks Shylah was part of it in a bad way. This was a great intro to the story. I can’t wait to read the first book. These characters are great and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. Great job Nyssa.
So I read Book 1 - Luca and then came back to read this prequel. And it kind of makes sense to read it in that order if you ask me. Because in book 1, we learn about the guys and the project and we meet a heartbroken Eden who feels he’s been betrayed by the woman he loves. In this prequel, we see Eden and Shylah fall in love. Then we learn about her involvement with the project and why Eden thinks she betrayed him. And now I’m ready to get to book 2 - Eden. Hopefully these two can make up quickly and we can learn more about this mysterious program. I like this series so far. Light on the angst. Good romance. A suspense element that’s easy to get into. Soldiers with enhanced abilities. Checks all my boxes.
Uncovering Project Arma is a novella that introduces the series and the seals that will be the focus of future books. Shylah is a nurse at the highly classified facility where the seals are training and and be given injections to boost their recovery time. Eden and his seal time are part of the elite group that have been chosen to participate in Project Arma.
I loved the characters that were introduced right off. The seals immediately show that they are honorable men. Shylah quickly falls for Eden and his seal team and risks herself in order to uncover what is happening. I am excited to read more in this series and future Nyssa Kathryn books.
Title: Uncovering Project Arma Author: Nyssa Katheryn Format: ebook Genre: Romantic Suspense, military, SEAL Standalone: nope Part of a Series: Prequel to the Project Arma Series POV: Shylah and Eden Steam Level: slow burn to steamy 4/5
Uncovering Project Arma is a short prequel to the series. It was just enough to suck you in and leaves you wanting more. Will Shylah’s plan work? What’s going to happen to the guys? Will everyone arrive safely? Remain safe? I can’t wait to dive into Luca (book 1) but frustrated that Eden’s book is number two. I want to know what happens.
I received this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Wow, this prequel is a good solid start to a series that I have instantly become addicted too! Nyssa Kathryn has melded hot and sexy SEALS with an intriguing action-packed romantic suspense with an ongoing thread, so I’m saying now that it will be advisable to read these books in order.
We are introduced to all of the guys in the team, and to a love interest that won’t show up until the second full book, but I can tell you now that I am all agog about this series and absolutely rapt that I have the first full book to dive into next!! Luca, here I come.
5 solid and sexy stars for a novella start to a series that will grab you hook, line and sinker!
Look out! There’s a new author on the block and she writes INCREDIBLE Romantic Suspense!
Nyssa Kathryn is a new author and has released a prequel novella entitle Uncovering Project Arma.
I’m usually not someone who reads novella’s but this one is a MUST. It gives the perfect start to this series and gives you an insight on how the men in this particular SEAL team come to be who they are now.
I couldn’t put this down and read through it in under an hour. SUPER intriguing!
I cannot recommend this enough! Get your hands on this and Luca, book #1 now!
Wow, what a fabulous start to this series! I love finding new authors and I am delighted with the writing style, plot, characters and heck everything about this book.
Shylah is one tough woman, I really admired her tenacity to find out what was going on and to do something about it. Eden is a terrific match for her and one gorgeous hunk of a man too.
The suspense element is one that does keep you on the edge with anticipation. Be aware you will be still asking questions at the end but that’s great and why? Because Luca, book one, is available and I am just about to dive in, yes!
I liked the story. I liked the story line. I understand that it is the beginning of a series but it just feels really rushed. Too short. The name Shylah is beautiful but his name is not. It's a minor thing in the book but it just not masculine enough for me. Obviously with the story ending like it did leaves it open for more to uncover. I don't like how the couple are left hanging but again it leaves it for possibly another story for them and more romance and mystery. I did overall like the story.
I really enjoyed this interconnected series. The stories, each individually, were great. The character growth throughout each book was fantastic. There were different plots for all books, with the main story running through each one. Each book follows a different couple trying to navigate their way through life after being part of a major experiment. While learning to carry on protecting their ever growing family. The only reason this was given 4 stars, not 5, was it started to get a little repetitive towards the end. It's still most definitely worth a read, though.
A prequel of sorts that tackles the testing during project Arma. Now I read book 1 before this so I have a bit of insight but if I hadn't I might be confused. Shylah is an innocent nurse who catches on to what is happening at the training facility, but can't tell Eden, one of the 8 military test subjects who she is falling for. The prequel is short, and delivers just enough intrigue to keep you curious enough to read on.
This was a great little teaser to the project arma series. I'm full of so many question that I know I'll have to dive straight into the next book.
Eden and Shyla become hot and heavy very quickly and the danger they face becomes this incidious entity waiting to strike them down. I can't wait to uncover what is happening to the soldiers and where the series will go next.
I just finished this prequel and can honestly say this is an author that has captured my complete attention. Shylah, Eden, and his teammates, I think, are going to grab hold of reader and pull them so far into this series they won't be able to wait for the next release. I know I'm on pins and needles already!
This short prequel starts off with such suspense! Eden and Shylah are such an interesting couple 💑 but it works. Eden is a Navy SEAL and Shylah is a nurse. When Shylah stumbles upon a secret what happens next is a game changer. Great prequel to start a new series with a new author. Keep up the great 👍work!
I read Luca first before this short prequel but it didn't hurt. It's a great insight to the back story that I encourage you to read first... and sets you up for the characters, relationships and of course the psychos! I highly recommend these books and I'm sure like me, she'll be your new favorite auto buy author too!!
Warning, This is a cliffhanger. Normally I am not fond of cliffhangers, but I'm still giving it a solid five stars. The editing was great, and I didn't notice any typos, which rates high in my book. Nyssa has done a great job of introducing us to her world, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series!
