Moonstar Dating Agency #2

Alpha's Heart, Omega's Home

Rate this book
alternate cover edition of ASIN B087NXZ59M

Not even a psychic could predict my utter misfortune.

The Gray House is the last thing I have to remind me of my late parents, but my greedy aunt managed to steal it from me while I was off trying to make a living from my paintings.

Now, the family home is in the hands of Barret Highcall—yes, the alpha supermodel actor. I have to find a way to get the house back from him, even if it means outright refusing to leave!

I've found a way to convince Barret to let me stay temporarily, but it's not out of the kindness of his heart. I’ve got something he wants. But now that we’re unwitting roommates, I’m seeing a whole new side of him he kept hidden away. Looks can be deceiving. As gorgeous as he is, he’s definitely not the angel he appears to be on screen—and I hate that I’m starting to want him so badly.

Alpha’s Heart, Omega’s Home is a fun and steamy 55k word mpreg story set in a vibrant, modern shifter world. It features: self-absorbed supermodels, anti-shifters, naked pool time, a mating pact, and a visit to a certain psychic dating agency. Always a happily-ever-after with satisfying character arcs and no cheating!

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first one. It felt underdeveloped, especially toward the end, which came across as rushed. The pacing throughout the rest of the story was quite slow, but instead of building toward a satisfying emotional payoff, the characters suddenly confessed their feelings and the story just… ended. Barret’s emotional journey didn’t feel complete. He went through a lot, but we never really saw him take the time to process his trauma or reflect on his actions. That made it hard to fully connect with his growth or root for his relationship. The epilogue didn’t help either—it was very short and abrupt. It began with a potentially heartwarming moment of them introducing their new child to Barret’s parents, but it ended before anything meaningful could really happen. The author clearly has talent—especially when it comes to building sexual tension and chemistry—but sometimes she draws things out for too long. The slow burn can be frustrating when the characters aren’t progressing emotionally or getting closer. Then, suddenly, a big moment happens and they confess their feelings out of nowhere, which doesn’t feel earned. As a reader, it’s hard to feel the longing or emotional depth that should be there because key scenes are often skipped or underwritten. This author has great potential, but I hope future books take more time to develop emotional arcs and let us fully experience the characters’ inner worlds more. I still enjoyed some of their books, but a reoccurring problem is the rushed endings and lack of developing of emotional depth.

This is an interesting and quirky addition to the Moonstar Dating Agency series with a great storyline and some intriguing characters. Unfortunately it is only an okay read for me as I could not connect to either of the main characters and there are several inconsistencies in the story that made it difficult for me to enjoy it. I also wish that there was more world building and more background information about both Barret and Gray. They don't really work as a couple for me but they do have a few sweet moments together as well as some steamy encounters and I like how Barret starts to embrace his shifter side when Gray encourages him to. Their lack of communication is also pretty frustrating and Barret's attitude is annoying for most of the story. There are some great secondary characters, the ending is pretty good and I hope that we get Kole's story soon as he is my favorite character so far in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

In the beginning I did not like Barret at all. He was rather a nasty individual, totally self absorbed. He makes sure he tells anyone he hooks up with don't expect anything other then some good sex and then moving on. He is not interested in a relationship. He has also suppressed his shifter side, which really isn't healthy to ignore a part of yourself. But with he went through as a child, coming from a poor upbringing and being picked on I kind of don't blame him. I did slowly grow to love him. Gray, loved him from jump street. His aunt was a total piece of work. She ups and sells his home out from under him and without his knowledge. So when he comes home, someone else is living there and that would be Barret. Barret is not willing to give up his home and basically tells Gray, to bad so sad. He does see his art work and decides that he wants to purchase some for his home But some of those paintings were damaged when Barret had the house packed up. They do come to an agreement that Gray will be able to move back into the home show that he can do those paintings. Slowly, Barret starts to change and they fall in love. It takes a long time for them to get their, but they do get to their HEA.

I really enjoyed reading this entertaining MM shifter romance that has a “enemies to lovers” undertone. The plot is interesting & has quite a few unexpected situations/events & there are some good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are well-developed, complex individuals & portray realistic emotional feelings & are at times quite confrontational.
There is: a determined male omega & talented artist (Grayson Reede aka Gray) deceived by his conniving aunt (Caroline) refuses to leave the house he lost & becomes roommates with a rather self-opinionated alpha male supermodel (Barret Highcall) then somehow the attractions begin to flare, a friend/acquaintance (Taz), a manipulative gallery owner (Mr. Hund), shifters, friendship, drama, intrigue, mild twists, deceit, betrayal, emotional turmoil, manipulation, confrontation, misunderstandings, disagreements, prejudices, compromises, attempted blackmail, strange attractions, complications, decisions, heartache, doubts, investigations, justice, declarations, love, mild steam, contentment & a hard-earned satisfying conclusion.

So this read like an au fanfic of the K-drama Full House to me. Some things were different, like this being an omegaverse, Grayson being a male painter instead of a female writer, the aunt selling the house because instead of Ji-eun's friends selling because they are horrible with money and cant provide for the baby they have on the way. I haven't seen the kdrama in years, so some of the details are fuzzy, but the house I imagined was the one from Full House.

Not saying this isn't a nice read. I enjoyed it. Full House was one of the first K-dramas I watched, and I love it to this day. This book brought back a lot of nostalgia.

While securing a space to show and sell his art Gray's Aunt sells his home.
Supermodel Barret Highcall gets a tip about a property that is for sale and is soon the new owner. Grayson Reede manages to secure a place showing his art at a gallery but after a few days in ton he returns home to find moving vans outside hid home. His money hungry aunt has sold his home while he was away and the man she has sold it to is unsympathetic and obnoxious. He plots ways to get his home back.

This is a story of misunderstandings abound. Grey is looking for someone to pay him to paint what he feels is his passion but all anyone wants is commercial art. He meets Barret a wolf in denial of his true self. The two meet when Barret buys the Grey House from Grey's underhanded Aunt and Barret allows Grey to stay after hitting him with his car. This book is about first love, revelations and justice. I really enjoyed seeing the two come together and work as a team and fall for each other. The comeuppance was really great but I guess you have to read the story to find out!

This book was exactly what I was hoping it would be. And artist and a model on a collision course that causes more feeling of annoyance and dislike at first than any love at first sight fairytale. They dislike each other, yet keep helping one another. They don’t want to like one another but they start to, and start worrying about it. They are human and multifaceted in a way you don’t always get in romance novels, and I for one enjoyed the heck out of it.

This book really pissed me off but I guess it won me over a bit in the end for a neutral rating. Barret was an insufferable asshole, but I loved Gray the whole way through. Barret does redeem himself somewhat in the end at least. The sex scenes in this book (way less than your average omegaverse book) were actually really nice and had lots of emotion.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if I’ll be continuing this series, at least not right away, because I hate when the couple doesn’t end up together really until the very last page.

gosh gray was a cute character ! i liked how he was always passionate about his art and very cutesy with kole. as someone who loves to dabble in spiritual energies, i get him <3
i should've been annoyed by barret, but his personality was so funny and diva-like that i couldn't help but like his character buahaha

i love a good fake dating trope as well ... knew it!! but also, the endings are always so rushed :( i want to see more loving!!

The hostility our heroes had in the beginning was heated and very tantalizing. Heat burned between them and it set the story on fire. Once the situation was acknowledged it spiced up even more. The main characters were very well created and had an authentic feel to them. The story, itself, was enticing and very captivating. Watching them gradually give in to their attraction after a bit was great. A lot of fun to read. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

A down on his luck omega who refuses to give up and a grumpy alpha with a heart of gold, that's a perfect recipe for an amazing read!
Loved the dinamics of this duo ana their banter. There were times I really wanted to hate Barret but you can't help but feel for the scared kid that he was and understand this point. Plus - he's actually a really good guy once Grey was able to melt his heart and break down all his defenses ;)

Slow burn

It didn't just take a long time for the MCs to figure out they like each other. It took me a long time to like them, too. The end was satisfying, though.

This is different from your typical Omegaverse. Everyone is very specifically a wolf shifter. Other types are separated geographically and politically. I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief, but some things about the world didn't make sense. Why aren't there any lawyers?

REALLY ENJOYED THIS!!

THE MOONSTAR DATING AGENCY is FANTASTIC!! This is an amazing collection of cliffhanger free books. They can be read in any order. Barret is a modeling Alpha who is very full of himself. Gray is a struggling Artist Omega who can't catch a break. ASHE MOON writes with humor, passion and devotion to the characters. Check this out, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THE MOONSTAR DATING AGENCY SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

Alpha's Heart, Omega's Home by Ashe Moon is part of the Moonstar Dating Agency series. This m/m romance delivers an amazing and entertaining story with shifters, enemies to lovers and fake mating for convenience turning real. Gray and Barret are fun characters with great chemistry and the story gave me a good dose of angst, humor and steam.

Interesting story. Barret, model, actor comissions his assistant, Mercer to find him a house in which he could relax. He very rarely shifted. Mercer arranged him to meet the owner of the house, which he loved and offered to buy. Grayson, artist went on interview to work in a gallery. While he was gone, his Aunt Caroline Reede, sold his family home to Barret. He got the job, experiencing a little sexual harrassment. Caroline put Gray's stuff in storage. When Gray finally got home, Barret was there ready to move in. These guys were already carrying baggage and this new dilemma added a large carry on each! Who gets the house? Does Aunt Caroline meet karma? Does Barret, lighten up? Will Barret shift? The journey these guys take has a bit of stop and go and some rough paths. Nice story, but the flow in this story is choppy. And that's folks how a/o stories should be done. I could not put the book away until I was done, was a true page turner for me.
It was not picture-perfect, pun intended, and the plot for Gray to stay at the Gray house sold to Barret from his sneaky aunt is flimsy but so entertaining!
I loved spunky Gray and self-assured Barret and they clashes and bantering.
Such a good fun read!

The Moonstar Dating Agency is a must visit! You just might find love!

So far this series has been a fun read. The characters come alive and make you feel for them. While reading I wanted to jump in and help poor Gray and bitch slap that nasty aunt! The ups and downs he goes through will make you want him to get his happy ending. Now I am on to the next one.

The Best Fun Is Had When We Let Go

Love is pain, love is so much more than pain. It still hurts but it also does other things. You know the verse about love in the Bible, it’s sooo true. I don’t know the future, but I know the right now. Love is love. You can’t help who you love, but you can nurture ir once you have it.

DNF, I honestly couldn't get past the real estate bit. I got completely stuck being like, that's what a title search is for! Where is your real estate lawyer? that's not how this works! and was mad about it for 2 days, like it kept popping in my head and then i would proceed to mentally explain real estate transactions in the shower so yeah, DNF.

Alpha and Omega Combined Heart and Home Romance for Good.

Life can get very messy and mixed up when crazy situations develop as everyone does their own style of changing their life to comply with the wishes of others even when the resistance to change is overwhelming. Yet it all seems to work out for the best for everyone.

Slow and unsatisfying. I waited and waited when the story will really begin, when something interesting will happen, but it never was more than mildly boring.
it wasn't about romance, but it also didn't have completed character development arc.
I felt like a watched dysfunctional couple trying to get through rough period but rough period was endless.

Fantastic loved it!

Two strong personalities go head to head. Alpha vs Omega? No just two people who are cursed to know the same shady woman. Through arguments and shifter yoga they grow to know each other and then love steps in to seal this mating.

Grayson and Barret were so cute - the painter and the model. I loved Grayson, shy but blunt at the same time. He was so clumsy but cute, it was sad how much he loves the house his parents build, the only thing he had from them - and his fight against his bitch aunt.

Barret was a bit cynic but also very alone and misunderstood. I enjoyed their interaction together, Grayson brought a different side of Barret, and even their hate/love was charming. Plus, the way Barret saw Grayson's art and describe it was lovely.

Overall, it was fun and enjoyable to read. The final a bit rushed but nevertheless, I loved it, especially the scene with their cub.
